We'll be here to hold each other's virtual hands through the tough nights and delightful days, and to laugh at each other's stories of comedy nappy changes Hmm, and the fear (or not?) of getting back in the saddle, and coating some cervixes just for the fun of it again!! :o

I had to make my own appointments for L's 2nd and final set of jabs - but I imagine it differs from place to place?

He hated the first ones and got really high temperatures, but was absolutely fine with these set :)

Ahemmm ....

We got 2nd prize for our cupcakes at our street 'do' (about six roads combined to do egg and spoon races, fancy dress competition etc all in the name of the royal wedding). [stupidly proud emoticon] Blush

travispickles · 29/04/2011 19:05

Well done Bubba! Had a wee tear at the wedding - but probably more to do with lack of sleep, as woken at 4am, then again at 7. It was lovely though. I cooked a massive leg of lamb and had friends round for a toast (me too on bubbles fuzzy) and roast.

RunningKatie · 29/04/2011 20:30

The nurse made the appt for DD's 2nd lot of jabs when she had the first, due on Thursday as long as she's over the cold. She's generously shared that with me so now I feel rubbish too :(

Well done on the cupcake prize Bubba

Have a quick look at wedding dresses and rings today, v exciting - we avoided the tv by going to Mothercare and then the supermarket. The shops were wonderfully quiet. I should add that the dress & rings were in the shops we visited later this afternoon, am not getting my dress from Tesco's!

gallicgirl · 29/04/2011 21:28

When are you getting married running?
Give it a few months and there'll be copies of Kate's dress all over the bridal boutiques. I really liked it actually. very classy.

HubbaHubbaBubba · 29/04/2011 21:30

lol @ the thought of buying a Tesco's wedding dress!!

Fuzzywood · 02/05/2011 21:00

Just popping in, hope you all had good bank holiday weekends. We were up at DH's grandmothers near Hull so went to Bridport and Scarborough where DD made me go paddling with her, it was flippin freezing. We then brought Gran back with us so I've had a 4 hour journey between 2 car seats in the back of the car so I'm shattered with a sore shoulder so off to bed.
Feel terrible though as I was cutting Evan's finger nails and he moved so I managed to cut his thumb, it didn't stop bleeding for 15 minutes Sad. DH has convinced me I'm not the world's worst mum so feeling a but better now.

saltnvinigarcrips · 02/05/2011 21:02

I really enjoyed the wedding I have to say. No street party or anything going on here but I celebrated by gorging myself on a waitrose berry trifle Blush
Saturday I was going a bit crazy with DS constant whinging so decided to be proactive and went out and bought Gina Ford's book which I know is quite controversial. So far (day 2) things seem to be going well and he does seem less whingy but still difficult getting him down for his night time sleep. What is everyone else doing vis-a-vis routine can I ask? Up until now I've been muddling along having done no reading but recently starting to panic about weaning etc as returning to work in July.
Off to Cyprus tomorrow for 2 weeks and absolutely dreading the flight with potentially screaming baby. I just know DS will scream as i've bitched to DH on many occasions about crying babies on planes so bad kharma will come back on me I know - and to be fair - I thoroughly deserve goddamnit!! Any tips of babies on planes welcome but think I will just have to glue him to be boob Grin and hope for the best.
Hope everyone is well - this thread is very quiet atm but will try to pop in soon.

saltnvinigarcrips · 02/05/2011 21:07

fuzzy You are definitely not the world's worst mum. On Friday I was doing the 'row row your boat' with DS (holding his hands and going from lying down to sitting up position - develops their sitting muscles apparently) and when I released my grip to put my hands around his back he suddenly fell backwards and banged his head (on quilt on a soft rug) but still I was frantic and had to call my parents. The shock on his face really upset me though :(

Fuzzywood · 02/05/2011 21:49

Thanks Salt, you're so right though about the look on their little faces it's heart breaking.
As for babies on planes, I've never taken as young a baby on a plane but generally they're fine once up in the sky it seems to be take off and landing which causes issues so feeding definitely a good plan as swallowing will help to pop his ears. I used to be sitting on planes seeing people with kids and praying they don't sit next to me, now it's us that no-one wants to sit next to Smile

saltnvinigarcrips · 02/05/2011 21:58

Good thinking fuzzy - I guess the sucking is maybe the equivalent to chewing gum? Oh no, DS has woken early for his 10:30 feed :(

travispickles · 03/05/2011 09:02

Hey fuzzy - I live in Scarborough - you should have said! Mind you it sounds like you weren't here long. Next time!! Good luck with Cyprus salt - how will it go doing Gina on hols I wonder? Or will you throw it in the bin on day 2, maybe start again when you get home? No real routine here, although am trying to get her back to a bit more order (most of the last week have been up in night again- aaaggggggggghhhhh!!!!) although last night went down at 8.30 woke at 4.30 so not too bad. Has been better though so will work at that. How everyone else?

gallicgirl · 03/05/2011 10:32

I really don't worry about a routine at all. I'm lucky in that DD kind of sets her own routine quite well during the day at least. My DP doesn't get home from work until 7 so then we have to fit in DDs feed while the other cooks dinner, eat dinner while she has a little nap then try to clear up and prepare for next day before next feed and just hope she goes to sleep before midnight. I really don't think I could fit in a bath and settling her down to bed if she didn't want to sleep. I'd never get anything to eat and that's the only decent meal I get all day.

RockLover · 03/05/2011 12:13

Hi ladies, so sorry for neglecting this thread for so long, but have been having a few problems. I went to the dr today who has given me some medication for my anxiety, so hopefully I should be back to my best in a few months :).

I am also freaking out as i have to have some dental work done on Thursday, have a tooth with bad decay under the filling (from my horrendous pregnancy diet I think) and the dentist is going to do something temporary to it, but I will need a root canal at some point Shock. I am a complete wuss and severely bricking it!

DD was poorly over the bank holiday weekend with a high temp, sore throat and she was sick once as well, she was able to enjoy the royal wedding on Friday though thankfully. She is much better now and back at school, but she is still not eating much and quite lethargic.

George is doing well, although can be quite pukey after feeds sometimes and he is sleeping through from around midnight to 7.30 in the morning; Daddy and I are very impressed with this! I am slightly concerned that I have not been contacted by the drs surgery regarding his second lot of jabs, I will have to call the HV later to ask about it.

I am going to have to start dressing him in 3-6 month sleepsuits as his legs are so long, his waist is still definitely still 0-3 months though so I will have to hold fire on buying bigger clothes. George has also started to really enjoy toys, he is reaching for things and dragging them to his mouth when he can, he especially loves pulling a muslin up to his lips and sucking it which is really cute.

Right, I am going to go back and read all the posts to see what I have missed. Have a lovely day everyone :).

Crysalis · 03/05/2011 20:41

hi all!

celebrated the royal wedding by going to the zoo for the day! Grin was very quiet and lovely... DS slept through the whole thing... ungrateful child! Grin

thought we'd begun to crack the sleeping thing with the colicky evenings gone and instead nice sleeps from 8pm til 12, then 12-4, 4-7/8.... but then...

DS started teething. this is categorically not fair on him or me [big fat sulking emoticon]

poor lamb he's all red faced and puffy, stinking cold, sore mouth and gnawing his little hands off. and after several days of this, he's not even got any teeth to show for it. does anyone know how long it takes for teeth to appear after all the discomfort?

off to get his second lot of jabs in the morning and another weigh in. i didn't think he'd grown much, but then last week had tons of clothes that suddenly didn't fit.

glad to hear everyone's updates... so lovely to think of them all getting bigger together.

HubbaHubbaBubba · 03/05/2011 20:58

Hey all [mad waving emoticon]

Sorry about the teething crysty - don't throw monkey poo at me, but it can go on for months! :(

Have you tried what I call Baby Cocaine? Ashton and Parson's powder (small white box with dark blue print on it, most chemists stock it). It's all farty-party non-medical but seems to work wonders...

L is just a gigglepig atm. He stops in the middle of breastfeeding (STILL won't take the bottle!) to coo and smile at me, and if I return the coos and smiles, he collapses into giggles. Thinks he's very funny indeed.

Poor you fuzzy for mutiliting your baby and permanently scarring him mentally and physically nipping Evan's finger. :o Wink :o (Or is it still too early for my jokes? :o)

Enjoy Cyprus salt - no advice on planes as we've not been on one since we've had chiddlers, but my sis has lots (lives abroad) and swears by sucky sweets for older ones, so sucking on a boob or dummy has got to help I would imagine.

Fuzzywood · 03/05/2011 21:23

Ha ha Bubba, I'm just about over it now and have decided against handing myself over to the police! His other hand needs doing too but I don't dare go near it Grin.
Scarborough was a last minute decision Travis (going oop north wasn't but a trip to the seaside was). Had to buy another bloody bucket and spade, we have loads but always forget to pack them.
I second the baby coke wraps Ashton and Parsons powder, worked wonders on DD. Teething is rubbish and unfortunately can go on for ages. Evan is a complete dribble monster too and chewing anything which comes in range of his mouth.
Rock really glad to gear you've seen the gp, hope you start to feel better soon.

"Hopefully, soon, they will be able to entertain each other so I can get more done" :o ! :o

RunningKatie · 05/05/2011 10:01

Oh, I've missed so much, didn't get to log on yesterday. DD was exercising her right to poo all over her clothes, she was due to have her 12 week jabs today but I've postponed them as the cold isn't completely gone. Now they are on Friday 13th, which I'm really hoping isn't an omen!

Gallic, we're getting married Nov 6th, so I really need to step away from the chocolate very soon.

Blimey, a miracle seems to be happening in this house, DD is in her bouncy chair thing and I think she's going to sleep. Good heavens, this is a first. I may take a photo as proof. :)

LadyBuzz · 05/05/2011 10:19

Hello ladies, I too have been MIA a bit. Kali is doing well and seems to be getting huge now! She is also starting to take an interest in toys and shoving them in her mouth and she is doing the constant dribbling and chewing her fists, i can see white in her gums but nothing has come through yet!
DS1 went on for ages and ages (sorry crysty Grin) and another vote for A&P powders here!

She still hates her chair/pram/gym etc etc but loves the floor!

Had some crap news yesterday DHs company are laying off and 2 out of 4 in his job are going Sad we have no mortgage insurance either so if it happens we are fairly screwed!
He should find out by the end of next week - 2 days before the christening Sad

on the up side I am looking to start a small business with SIL, still in the very early stages but most exciting! shame it won't make us a fortune!!

RunningKatie · 05/05/2011 11:07

ladyBuzz - sorry to hear about DH's job, my DP's going through it at the moment and it's just awful,

The cracken baby has woken up, a whole hour long nap without being on me, I'm terribly impressed - but also glad I can now stop rocking her chair and go to the loo via the biscuit tin! :)

Fuzzywood · 05/05/2011 11:26

Sorry to hear that LadyB, fingers crossed for you. What's the new business [nosy emoticon]?

Was just about to write that E is soundly asleep in his chair too and he's woken up! Will try to persuade him to go back to sleep for a bit as he's cat napping again which leaves him in a grump by the afternoon.
Off clothes shopping in a bit as I have a hen do this weekend and nothing to wear. Is it bad that what I'm most looking forward to is more than 4 hours broken sleep Grin.
Still haven't heard from doc about jabs will chase today. Can't book them at our docs they have to do it for you which can be a bit if a pain.

LadyBuzz · 05/05/2011 12:18

fuzzy its baby things, clothes/blankets/bedding that sort of thing - think my big fat gypsy baby Grin SIL is the creative force and i will deal with the business side of things, she is very talented, I have a moses basket/cosy toes/nursery set and many many clothes frilled up and they are fab - so if anyone wants anything special let me know, i will put some photos on later and you can see what she has done some of it is very over the top but she can tone things down Grin i'm very excited by it all at the moment!#

I also should know next week if my job is safe but TBH I don't really care, I earn next to nothing and hate my colleague with a passion Smile

running fingers crossed for both of our DHs

travispickles · 05/05/2011 19:54

Sorry to hear about possible redundancies. Tis truly shit. My DP finds out whether he is being made redundant tomorrow Sad. Mind you, I went to look round a nursery today and had to fight back tears in the Sad baby room Sad. Leave my PFB there all week?? I don't think so! They showed me folders for each child with pics of their 'firsts' - I was nearly sobbing!
So think he will do some childcare until I can face sending my baby away...
