Here we go, down the slippery slope of parenthood. Slippery thanks to the poos, wees, leaky boobs and goodness knows what else :o :o

We'll be here to hold each other's virtual hands through the tough nights and delightful days, and to laugh at each other's stories of comedy nappy changes Hmm, and the fear (or not?) of getting back in the saddle, and coating some cervixes just for the fun of it again!! :o

I'm here, been lurking for a few days whilst DP was away and I didn't have time to catch up properly.

Took DD to the Docs again as he'd asked to see her after her weekly weigh-in, and now we have to take her to see a paediatrician. He is concerned there's a problem with her right kidney, I'd noticed him hovering over it last week at her 8 week check but dismissed it as me being paranoid, but he did it a lot this week and we're now off to the hospital on the 26th. :( He's also suggested that I consider giving her the bottle, to help bulk her up a bit. Am going to get through this weekend and take her for weighing this coming week and then make a decision either way.

Where is Cupcakes? I saw the travel advice for Syria had changed but no idea if she's gone or not.

Excellent news on the twins jjkm - a bit of sleep does you the world of good. hope the tummy ache is better.

Fuzzywood · 15/04/2011 20:01

Hi, I'm here. At mum and dad's for the weekend which is a bit of a drive to get to but great when here as 2 extra and very willing pairs of hands.

Running hope everything turns out to be ok with Isobel. Guess on the positive side us that the doc is being observant and checking things out.

Travis 2 year olds are generally delightful but very interesting when they hit the meltdown button.

Hoping for another good night especially as I'm in the same room as Evan.

HubbaHubbaBubba · 16/04/2011 06:27

Hi, I'm here too. Been busy, busy, busy doing mostly boring, boring, boring stuff Hmm and some nice family stuff. Have hacked cut back a garden hedge to within an inch of its life, and we now have a splendidly white wall with a trellis and our poor, beaten honeysuckle growing up it - all thanks to the bastard neighbours and their wonderful builders. Looks quite mediterranean and nice so I can stop swearing at them under my breath, and hopefully my DDs will stop playing the "Let's Kill the Neighbours" game Shock Hmm Blush. We also have strawberry plants sitting in horse shit some posh compost manure, and I have weeded to my heart's content.

Clothes are sorted :( and I am visiting another cousin today to give away the last of the 12-24m girls' clothes :(

DD's party invitations are done and out. Just now hoping that many of them can't make it so we don't die a slow and drawn out death over two hours with far too many children to look after :o

DH is also on "Get Bubba Some Sleep" mission and has taken the DCs off for an hour or so for the past couple of mornings, so I can MN in peace catch up on some sleep. And The Boy is taking the dummy!!! :o :o which I see as a step in the direction of taking the bottle >dreams to herself of a stint of sleep lasting more than 3 hours<

Right, now to everyone else's news. Running sorry you're going through this with Isabel - hope it's not getting you down too much. Feel free to vent any feelings here and we'll listen with Brew or Wine at the ready :)

jjkm don't you start!!! :o Angry :o Envy :o

travis well done surviving the 2 year old - they can seem absolutely manic in comparison to the calm of a newborn (are they still newborn? when they chuckle after pooing all over you, there's a certain lack of innocence noted! :o)

Well done for getting to your parents' place rock - take the opportunity for them to take DD and George out for walks etc and get yourself some well earned rest.

points pointy stick at crysty just for good measure

LadyBuzz · 16/04/2011 22:14

I'm here too! I have been busy with having all 3 DCs at home for the school holidays its hard work Grin

running hope you are OK and it all turns out to be nothing to worry about.

bubba i feel your pain I have just bagged up all of the newborn clothes I will never need again to sell next week Sad Sad and all of the boy clothes DS2 has finished with.
The baby sale requires all of the clothes to be washed and flattened Shock I don't even do that to wear them Grin

The DSs are spending the weekend with GPs and DH and I are spending it at a tattoo convention with Kali who has been the star of the show today Grin I'm so proud when people want to look at her Grin

Fuzzywood · 17/04/2011 06:43

stumbles in rubbing eyes<

resolves never to mention again anytime that Evan decides to sleep well>>rejoins Bubba's gang

HubbaHubbaBubba · 17/04/2011 07:22

lol fuzzy :o - poor you!

but at least you know you are a prophet!

gallicgirl · 17/04/2011 12:12

Poor ladybuzz having to flatten clothes! I can't decide what to do with the small ones we no longer need. We have limited storage so I'm reluctant to store in case I ever decide to get off my flying pig and have a second baby, but I'm not sure I want to sell the nice ones anyway. Think we might give some to the charity shop we've bought some lovely clothes from.

Alys has had two bottles this morning and didn't burp much for either and didn't throw up anything. Confused I'm a bit scared that she'll make up for the lack of regurgitation later in the day.

Crystyclear · 17/04/2011 12:27

house of the sick here!

vomiting bug for me and cold for DS. really worried about how much milk i'll produce if this continues. it's frankly rubbish.

will endeavour to catch up properly when i can type/see straight again.

HubbaHubbaBubba · 17/04/2011 16:26

Poor you crysty - keep up the BFing if you can, although if Xavi's taking the bottle, there'd be no harm in giving him a top up now and then if you're feeling rotten.

gallic my sister has used vacuum packs for her clothes - they massively reduce the volume taken up by clothes (essentially you suck the air out with some biit of the hoover or something).

Off to the swings before I kill my children to give the Ds (they've definitely lost the 'darling' bit this afternoon) a decent run-around (just don't mention shoes, washing machine and the lure of pretty buttons to press) Hmm Hmm

gallicgirl · 17/04/2011 21:11

We have lots of vacuum packs. I daresay I should remove my pre-pregnancy clothes from then to see if anything fits.

Hope your family feel better soon Crysty. It must be so hard when your little ones are so young and ill.

I started the day off with such good intentions but my industrious plans failed miserably once I decided to update my bog. Oh well. Alys has had 5 feeds already today but not showing much sign of settling down. She's fed really well all day until this last feed where she was pretty pukey and is now fighting the comedy hiccoughs.

DP at work this evening so I've had a quiet day catching up on all the TV he doesn't want to watch. Had a little cry watching Is Breast Best but found a possible bumps and babies group I could visit when in Cardiff in August. Bizarrely the owner of the bar comes from the area where I live!

How are your LOs all developing? Alys has learned to grip anything close to her (muslins, bibs, blankets, mummy's vest and bra) and to attempt to pull said item over her head. I also suspect she's close to rolling over as she supported herself really well on her elbows during tummy time. Apologies for the baby boasting - feel free to berate me Grin At least I didn't mention exercise, sleep or clothes flattening

HubbaHubbaBubba · 18/04/2011 07:15

Boast away gallic - we won't judge! Wink :)

L isn't reaching for anything with any success, but certainly grabs whatever lands near his hands - and, like jjkm, my hair is the main sufferer and his grip is tight!! :)

I'm a bad mummy and don't do tummy time, it's far too dangerous for him what with an overzealous big sister who leaps about on him if left on the floor without constant supervision Hmm, so he's been on his tummy on the floor literally just a handful of times. No rolling going on here then.

His laughing is the best - he giggles when I clean his bum!! :o :o

gallicgirl · 18/04/2011 12:16

Aww bless. At least he's not screaming!
Alys doesn't giggle yet but I get gummy grins and silent giggles IYKWIM.

We had a good day yesterday where I didn't have to use any gripe water Shock. Making up for it today though. Poor love has got the comedy hiccoughs again.

Crystyclear · 18/04/2011 13:57

oh those are lovely developments everyone!

DS can grip, but has no real hand to eye co-ordination even though he tries. he has a really pouty look when he's trying to work out how to grab something, but it's luck if he does. he's still rolling around, but unco-ordinated, has good tummy time.

is it too young to sit them up with support around his back?

no giggles here yet, but plenty of cooing and unidentifiable burbling.

yesterday he properly found his toes, and keeps swinging them up, or looking down at them. very cute.

am feeling a bit better - just seem to have a cold now.

might go do a spot of gardening for some fresh air.

RunningKatie · 18/04/2011 17:32

Wow to the developing babies, aren't they all so clever? :) DD doesn't giggle, looking forward to that, but I think she's having a go at trying to roll a bit.

I had to flatten clothes this weekend as MIL didn't come round last week. Shock

Today I have even put in my contact lenses, so I must be getting more organised again! :)

Crystyclear · 18/04/2011 18:20

jjkm DS does this too. with him, it's usually tiredness/over-stimulation - especially in the evenings.

he can get so worked up he goes red and gets really hot. i calm him with hugs, washing his face with cool water and a lot of walking about.

gallicgirl · 18/04/2011 18:34

jjkm, Alys does that occasionally but I think it's usually trapped wind. Sometimes it's tiredness but I'm getting pretty good at spotting the warning signs.

Well done katie on the contact lenses. I figure any day I manage to get out of the house is a good one. I try and go for a little walk just for some exercise and to make us feel better.

travispickles · 18/04/2011 20:56

Is it wrong to find the tired whingey cry quite funny? I know she is for real but sometimes it sounds so like she is doing it for effect!! Am soooo tired as well, been woken at 4am the last few weeks... Must be tired as am watching Kerry bloody Katona. Aaaaaaaaaagghhhhhhhhhhh...........

Fuzzywood · 18/04/2011 21:19

Travis it's the sad face that I find funny so you're allowed to find the crying funny Smile.
Hope you feel better soon Crysty.
As for new developments here, Evan is now pushing himself backwards or around in circles by putting his feet on the floor and pushing himself around. It's very cute [completely soppy mummy emoticon].
Bit poorly here too, I've got a sore throat and DD a bit of an upset tummy. My mum and dad looked after both kids for a few hours this morning so I could have a lie in. Thank goodness for doting grandparents.
Back home now and so hoping that Evan gets back to sleeping better.

Just caught up on a weeks worth of posts. Had a lovely week up north with my parents who spoilt us both rotten. My mom got carried away and we are now sorted for clothes for the 3-6 month period. Feels like a little milestone and I am beginning to wonder where my little newborn went as I now have a little monster albeit a gorgeous one. I need to check his gums for teeth as he has developed a painful habit of twisting my nipple when he's had enough. I hope that is indicative of him turning off the taps properly when he's older.

Very impressed with Xavi rolling over crysty and evan. I think I need to give him more tummy time too but he is laughing and smiling lots so that's all good - actually sounds similar to Lachlan in terms of development.
jjkm Henry sometimes gets irate and very twitchy when he needs a poo. Starting to wonder if he suffers with tummy ache as he sounds like he is in pain like very constipated. Does anyone else's baby sound like that? Like he's really trying to push.

Well I had my second bath with Henry tonight and it was lovely and thankfully no poomaggedon crysty lol. Just made some scones and now watching 'Private Benjamin'.

hubba you still going into school next Tuesday? I was planning on it but now Henry is booked to have his second set of immunisations at 11:30 so not sure whether i'll be able to go in. Think I will try for the morning and leave at 10:30.
Anyway glad everyone is well although miss cupcakes. Hope she's back online soon.

gallicgirl · 19/04/2011 10:55

Cupcakes managed a quick post on facebook but hasn't managed to get on to MN yet :(

She did mutter something about her DH not doing any cleaning while she was away Shock

Got up late this morning so Alys didn't have her first bottle until 10. She's now back in bed so I'd better make the most of the quiet time and get a shower. DP had the cheek to ask me if I'd do a load of dark washing as he's down to his last pair of socks. I managed to stop myself shouting "you know where the frigging washer is cos IT'S YOUR HOUSE!!" I put the washer on twice a day I reckon but it's mostly Alys's clothes and muslins I'm doing. > When do they stop being so messy?

I started blogging again so I need to try and fit that into my day and I'm desperate to do a blog about the No2AV vote. A pamphlet arrived with the most ridiculous claims I ever saw so I really want to do some research and counteract the arguments.

DP is off tomorrow. I think he was hoping to relax in the sunshine but I plan on whipping him into shape and make him clear the rubbish off the drive that's been there since November. Gggrrrrrr.

travispickles · 19/04/2011 15:27

OK - yesterday I went to bed filled with loathing towards my DP. Real loathing. The baby then woke me for a feed every 3 hours or so (must must must be a growth spurt - this cannot be the future!) but have woken today feeling all warm and loving towards DP. Mainly coz he has done stuff with her today thus allowing me some chat time with a couple of friends in the sunshine. But wonder if I am not half mad?! Or completely insane. Does anyone else have good days and bad days? Did wonder if I didn't have PND yesterday as felt so low and hideous, but as those days are in isolation is it normal?
