Here we go, down the slippery slope of parenthood. Slippery thanks to the poos, wees, leaky boobs and goodness knows what else :o :o

We'll be here to hold each other's virtual hands through the tough nights and delightful days, and to laugh at each other's stories of comedy nappy changes Hmm, and the fear (or not?) of getting back in the saddle, and coating some cervixes just for the fun of it again!! :o

Hi all - well a really long walk uphill today to try and walk off the flab... Realise I like walking as an hour's walk takes an hour. As opposed to tidying the kitchen which takes all day with the constant interruptions!
I could get a train with Saskia to Durham - let me know when suits. A week day would be better than a weekend if poss.
|Erm.. a question (TMI!) about sex. Has anyone else not ventured yet? Bought some condoms today as am waiting to have coil but it has now been about 8 weeks and am a bit nervous. OH also did have a thing about the scar... Feel I need a stiff drink to go there. Anyone else or is it just me? Blush

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 22/03/2011 19:28

Met up with crysty and salt today and their GORGEOUS little boys - got cuddles and smiles from both of them - sooooooooooo sweet. L has been asleep pretty much all day, or shouting his head off when not. Hmmmm. Methinks another night of partying will be on the menu :( sigh :(. I've been building a cupboard all afternoon with my dad though so am pooped. Just had a lovely bath with my littlest and oldest - the only thing that chilled him out during the day, and he's now zonked out again on the sofa next to me, while DH is putting our DD2 the looney banchee to bed.

I've definitely not 'ventured' yet travis - absolutely no time to, even if there was the inclination! :o But I felt very over-concerned about the flabby skin around the scar after my c-section :( Go for it though - it's really not as bad as you think it's going to be! :o

saltnvinigarcrips · 22/03/2011 20:30

Yes todays meet was really lovely. Lachlan has gorgeous big cheeks and big hug me eyes and Xavi so much hair and so cute!! All gorgeous and one of us needs to put up a picture of the 3 of them.
Travis I didn't have a cs but was nervous about having sex but like bubba says it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Get it over and done with is my advice. I'm just looking forward to when Henry can go into his own room. The last time me and DH did it I couldn't concentrate as Henry was whinging in the basket next to us so I spent the whole time rocking his cradle. DH managed to stay focussed though lol! Think he was just very happy to be getting some attention Grin Sorry tmi.

RockLover · 23/03/2011 12:01

Hi ladies, glad the London meet up went well. George is becoming a star at sleeping, he is now in his cot every night and we put him down very nearly asleep, but still aware and he falls asleep on his own! 2 nights in a row he has slept from around 11.30pm to 4.30am, and this morning he went back down until, 7.15am and then after his feed until just before 10am. I feel almost spoiled with the amount of sleep I'm getting!!

On the downside one of my teeth has become very sensitive and the gum next to it keeps bleeding, so I'm wondering if that's somethng caused by the pregnancy. However, I can't get an appt until my 6 month check in 4 weeks, which, being the worry wart I am, is driving me to distraction.

Took George (and DD) for a walk around a local estate and it's gardens on Sunday, DP had George in the sling and he was asleep the whole time lol, but it was nice to spend time as a family on a lovely sunny day :).

George and I have our 6 week check tomorrow so I'm looking forward to getting him weighed I'm pretty sure he's at the 10/11lbs mark by now as he is a chunky monkey and is on 150ml of formula now. I am going to ask about his baby acne as it has become very dry and flakey in places and I just want to find out if I should be treating it in any way.

Right, I'd better get on and grab a shower and get dressed (that's if George will allow me to stop bouncing him in his chair), hope everyone has a lovely day in this gorgeous sun.

saltnvinigarcrips · 23/03/2011 12:18

Ha RockI am pleased to hear George is sleeping so well. I have the same thing going on here and actually got in a bit of a panic about it this morning. For the past 3 nights he has slept from 1am to 7 am and then feeds and like you say back down again till about 10 ish. This morning I was hovering over his basket willing him to wake up and both times I actually picked him up to wake him up. Anyway I too am a worry wart so have left a message for hv as I read they shouldn't be sleeping through the night until 6 months! Surely this is wrong? Anyway waiting to hear back. Other than that Henry seems perfectly happy - just had some tummy time and now he's lying on his play mat as good as gold so may be able to hang up the laundry :)

gallicgirl · 23/03/2011 12:27

mmmmm sex....Hmm

How is everyone? We had a lovely week away with relatives but it's nice to be home.

Has anyone else had trouble getting things arranged with the NHS? I asked my health visitor TWICE about my 6 week check and she said it's normally done at 8 weeks at my surgery but she would arrange it and the surgery would contact me. So I was expecting a letter when I got home but there was just a letter from central health service asking us to take DD for her first immunisations next week. So I called the surgery to book appointments and they have to do the 8 week check before they can do immunisations and because no-one let them know I'd had the baby, they could only fit us in next week (ie 9 weeks).

Slightly astonished at this because I'm sure the CMW will have done all the forms she needed to because she's really good but in addition she called the surgery on my behalf to get prescriptions issued, I registered the baby at the surgery and the doctor has even seen the baby twice so how the f*ing hell did they not know I'd had a baby???????

gallicgirl · 23/03/2011 12:31

salt Alys is exactly the same so I think it's ok. My mum says at around 12 weeks she will probably drop the late night feed too so will sleep even longer. Alys takes about 150-180 ml and is really hungry when she wakes up. of course she throws a lot of it back up but that's a different issue.

Oh yeah, the 6 9 week check is with the same doctor who swears she doesn't have a tongue tie. Joy.

RunningKatie · 23/03/2011 17:03

Sex? Dear heaven, talking about exercise was bad enough but this is taking it too far. With DP working away there hasn't been much opportunity but I know he's ever hopeful it'll happen soon! :)

DD has now puked two mornings in a row when I've gone for a shower, I usually feed her, dress her and then put on her on the gym on the landing whilst I have a quick shower. Yesterday I didn't hear her puke, only realised when I wondered what the "fluff" was beside her, but this morning I heard it. Wondering now if it's just a coincidence or not as it seems quite a lot rather than a dainty little amount which I think is posseting?

Been for a long walk with her this afternoon and she's asleep still - yay! So, I've read Saturdays paper at last, tidied away some washing and fluffed up a cushion in preparation for some visitors.

Rock - enjoy the sleeping, that's what I tell myself when DD does it. Makes you feel human again doesn't it? :)

Gallic, I'm not convinced by my Docs either, I dropped in the registration form and asked then about the 6/8 week checks, was told I'd get a letter in the post. Still waiting so dropped in yesterday on my way past - to be told I'd get a letter in the post. I know she's not 8 weeks till 2nd April, but I'd like to know when these mythical appointments are going to be. No point asking my health visitor as she told me they wouldn't contact me at all as they are overstretched, and she was too busy telling me DD would die if I put her on the sofa alone. stupid cow

LadyBuzz · 23/03/2011 21:19

running our DDs must be comparing notes Kali puked all over our bed again this morning - Nice wake up call Hmm

Salt don't panic about the sleeping both of my boys went from 7 til 7 from around 10 weeks old every baby is different.

Glad you have a lovely meet up ladies.

travis & salt I can do Co Durham and a week day is also best for me. Although I will have to get SIL to have the DSs as I am so not planning to inflict my brrod on you Grin

gallicgirl · 23/03/2011 21:23

I'd get it booked. The reason I have to wait until next Wednesday is because they have to book 4 appointments together to get it all done.

Managed to get an appointment this afternoon to see doc about DDs reflux. Doc was sympathetic but I get the impression he thinks I'm being a bit precious. He doesn't really see the reflux as a problem unless DD loses weight or her weight gain slows down. So I have to see HV to get her weighed and to discuss alternative milk formulas and in the meantime we have a prescription for gaviscon.

Little monster was a pain all day and the only reason I managed to get dressed at 4pm was because we had to go to docs. Of course she slept peacefully as soon as I put her in her pram and she gurgled quite happily at the doc, this making me look like an over-reacting idiot!

Think I'll make an effort to take her for a walk every day though if she's so calm after.

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 24/03/2011 08:30

I had to book my own six-week appt (which is also taking place at almost nine weeks Hmm next Weds gallic) and we have three appts in one, but also have to get him weighed and measured beforehand so must remember to do that on Monday.

Have also got a date for his Christening, and at a time when my big sister and her kids (who live abroad) can come too, so very pleased about that.

Loving this weather - I took L and the girls to Kew Gardens yesterday for a picnic and we were out in long-sleeved t-shirts for hours, it was lush!

He is sleeping soundly now, but only because he's knackered from his night-time partying again!

OP posts:
gallicgirl · 24/03/2011 11:19

aww bless.

I felt like yesterday was one huge fight with Alys and it was 1am again before she was in bed. However, she did sleep until after 10 am so at least I got a decent amount of sleep.

I've left her on her play mat to vomit breakfast amuse herself while I get dressed. I'm wearing my new jeans which admittedly are on the small side but the next size up were too large and I figure the squeeze is an incentive to lose a bit of weight. I am however, wearing a maternity t-shirt which says mummy to be but it'll be under a sweater when I go out so I won't get funny looks.

Kew Gardens sounds like fun. I'm hoping to make it out very shortly for a walk with Alys to tire her out a bit :)

travispickles · 24/03/2011 12:37

Hi all! Well slummy mummy here not up til 11.30! Went out for a pizza last night, the restaurant is just round the corner. Fed her before, went at 6, back at 8 to a desperate OH, she had cried the whole time I was gone... She doesn't normally cry much either, so poor OH beside himself. Didn't realise how much she needs me as opposed to DP. He was quite upset as I think he
feels that he has lost the connection he had with her, as he was the one who first held her and spent alot of time with her in the early days when I was so ill. I think it is also because she won't take a bottle and she may have been comforted with a feed [greedy pig emoticon].
Hospital this aft for follow up after EMCS horrors....
A new picof Saskia on... (mum just rang to say thanks for emailing this photo but doesn't she look chunky!)

CupcakesHay · 24/03/2011 12:38

Hello All - sorry i've been MIA a bit. And sorry - haven't time to read posts (will def be more present once i'm back in syria!)

In london!!! After journey from hell from Devon - DH insisted we got train Angry so my dad drove us to station with all the junk piled everywhere in car - only for there to be a diversion which was signposted pro[perly - so we missed train. MIL was meeting us at exeter station and so we had to pay out £90 for 3 extra tcikets - and even though DH said i wouldn't have to do any lugging - surprise, surprise, MIL got to push pram as I carried rucksack, bag and car seat Angry - and then complained about being tired - like a) it was my idea and b) like i'm not up feeding Jesse every 3 hours and still having pain from c-sect!!!!

Anyhow - spent most of yesterday being annyoed with DH and putting foot down with MIl so feel better today!

Although cannot wait to get home to syria.where I can spend days just snuggling with Jesse.

On plus side, i seem to have got him into a lovely evening routine - where he goes to bed between 7-8 and stays sleeping til 1-2am and then gets up at 5.30 ish for another feed.... hurrah. sleep!

Although he's screaming now for more food... so must dash. but promise will be on next next week - and promise to read everyone else's posts. x x x x x

travispickles · 24/03/2011 13:26

Was just wondering how/ where you were cupcakes, whether you had survived the trials of the ill-fated train journey. Bet you can't wait to get home...

gallicgirl · 24/03/2011 18:16

Sounds like a nightmare journey cupcakes. I hope you're having fun in London with your friends at least.

The pics of Saskia are lovely travis and she doesn't look at all chunky. She looks fabulous. (I just mistyped that as chinky Blush)

I had a good morning with Alys today. She slept late and I managed to get a cup of tea and most of a bowl of frosties before she woke for her feed. I also got dressed and we went for a walk to the shops. this afternoon was dreadful though. Lots of wind and screaming and very little milk has been consumed. She managed to sleep for about 20 minutes in my arms and is now asleep propped up on a pillow. Bless. I've been reading the reflux thread and seriously think this is what she has. I know I thought she had a tongue-tie but maybe the symptoms point to reflux. I'm beginning to sound like a hypochondriac! Going to get her weighed tomorrow anyway so can chat to the health visitor about it.

Right, better go prepare dinner so DP doesn't think I'm a total slattern! When I told him I didn't get food until 4pm yesterday, he said I should leave DD to cry. I don't mind leaving her for a few minutes but it's hard to leave her for longer when she's screaming in agony. :(

CupcakesHay · 25/03/2011 09:44

YAY - frosties rock don't they gallic? Sorry Alys is still not eating that much - poor love. It's a worry isn't it. My friend's little girl had reflux - and she said that she felt like she was constantly fighting a battle to get freya to keep milk down. I hope the HV can advise you a bit. And know what you mean about screaming - a few mins is about all i can bear. Cna you get a sling?

Well - London is okay... DH is different - and both DH and MIL ignore what i think, so i'm at the point of just letting them get on with it. Plus MIL is FB friend Hmm so always comments on my comments - so I put i was missing my parents and she was like - oh i'm sure you'll miss me too when you leave here. Not quite the same after practically 3 months with my parents, and even though they drove me nuts - still my parents aren't they?

Jesse is still being amazing - and i'm still trying to stick to a nighttime routine with him (even though MIL and DH just don't bother trying to put Jesse down for nap in day [grr] - and spend whole time with DS on laps in front of jeremy kyle [grr]) - but Jesse is still being great at night and sleeping 7-8pm til 2-3am and then til about 5.30-6am... and then again til 7.30ish! So at least i'm getting lots of sleep.

But so looking forward to getting home - and doing my own washing and cooking whatever food i want whenever i want Smile

gallicgirl · 25/03/2011 10:28

hahaha that's why I'm not FB friends with my mum. She'd want explanations of everything I post and who all my friends are. nightmare!

I'm really impressed you have a routine with Jesse. We pretty much play it by ear but Alys falls into a natural routine anyway I suppose. She eats every 3-4 hours, has a couple of naps in the day and although it's difficult to get her to sleep before 1am, she does sleep through for hours! In fact, she is still asleep now. I've had a shower and breakfast so I suppose I should go wake her.

I'd never watched Jeremy Kyle in my life until last week when DP was watching it. It's like a road traffic accident, isn't it? You know you shouldn't watch these people with terrible lives but you can't help yourself as it's so compelling. Like the property shows though, I imagine the novelty wears off after a couple of weeks. Is it wrong to quite like Jeremy Kyle himself? Grin

HubbaHubbaBubba · 25/03/2011 15:22

Yes gallic. Yes it is Wrong. Very Wrong. >>shakes head in dismay. wanders off to find some chocolate to console herself with

jjkm Kali is still every 3 hours, there is just no way she would go any longer just yet I don't think, she seem happy though.

gallic there is a boy in DS1s class whose parents have been on Jeremy Kyle - shameful Grin

Fuzzywood · 25/03/2011 22:12

Just popping in quickly to say we all survived Centre Parcs, we had a great time and the weather was fab. Ev was a dream, really good in the day and evening then slept from about 10.30 until at least 4.30/ 5 every night.
I'm shattered though so off to bed, will catch up in everything tomorrow. Hope all are well.

RunningKatie · 25/03/2011 22:27

Popping in too, my beloved netbook wouldn't connect to t'internet for 2 days which was frustrating.

DP is currently asleep on the sofa with DD in his arms, and she's also asleep. Am going to have to intervene as she's slowly sliding over in my direction. We were looking at honeymoon locations when he nodded off. Shock

jjkm - Isobel's still a bit random although it's got more predictable again this week, usually feeds about every 2.5 hours but in the evenings it can be hourly.

gallicgirl · 25/03/2011 22:33

Centerparcs are fab for kids. I went with my sister when her first baby was about 3 months old and the staff were great. I loved that there was a bottle warmer on the bar on the pub!

jjkm my 8 week old feeds every 4 hours sometimes. It depends how hungry she is and how much she ate at her last feed. Today she woke up ridiculously late so she will have eaten at 11, 2, 5, 8 and we're waiting for the next one after which I hope she will sleep. However she didn't eat so much yesterday because we put infant gaviscon in her milk to help with reflux but apparently it thickens the milk so she couldn't drink enough and I'm guessing she's been hungry today as a result. I think she's drank around 180ml at every feed.
