CantSleepWontSleep · 16/02/2011 09:44

just marking my place :)

pepperrabbit · 16/02/2011 19:17

evening. Just posting so CSWS's last post wasn't in vain!

DD did a wee in the potty!!!!!"!!!!

After 6 1/2 years of nappies (2 x2 in nappies) there is light at the end of the tunnel. Smile

StarExpat · 16/02/2011 19:30

Yay pepper!!! :)
Q just did his first poo!!!!!
He's so chuffed with himself. Was all quite dramatic... "it's not gonna hurt? Is it going to hurt? I can do it!" lol.
We were out all morning and only one wet pants accident. Others in toilets nearby the park. Day 3 went well :) I hope dh doesn't screw it up next week! Hmm

I never thought I'd be this excited about a poo!

Myjob's ds, Star's Q and Pepper's dd - Well dones all round it seems!

S was weeing in the potty quite a bit but seems to have regressed. The other day dp walked in to see him standing in the potty and weeing in the floor. Hmm

Pistachio - Grin at the idea of you being responsible for the potholes. It's good that they wrote off the money - I bet a lot of councils wouldn't have done.

CSWS - How are you? Sleeping any better?

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/02/2011 22:03

sorry cf, but am pmsl at S standing in potty and weeing on floor Grin.

Don't ask re sleep - is worse if anything. Going to bed in just a tick.

StarExpat · 16/02/2011 22:28

Q has been sitting on the potty Blush
Oh no
I'll teach him to stand and aim tomorrow. I can't believe I didn't even think of that. It was just on big toilets he won't be able to reach. I knew I was doing something wrong! Happy to be out of nappies, though!!

StarExpat · 16/02/2011 22:29

Congrats myjob! B is such a clever little boy!

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/02/2011 22:54

Nooo star - let him sit on potty! Can you imagine the potential splashback if he stands and aims at one?! Leave the aiming for big toilets once he's mastered the potty. You can get balls to shove in loo for him to aim at then.

(am almost in bed btw - just feeding j who always wakes between 10 and 11 for a feed)

pepperrabbit · 16/02/2011 22:55

Star - I would definitely recommend only sitting on the potty!!!!!
Spray, bad aim, last drips, easy disctracion, would all spell disaster in the whole boy potty thing.
Even grown up men with the large target of an entire toilet still seem to miss sometimes Hmm.
Once they get abit bigger then fine, teach them to wee standing up, buy those ball things that go in the loo for them to aim at.
they really need to be tall enough to stand and reach the loo for standing up, or you find yourself trying to hold them high enough to be able to wee in a public toilet, and frankly, they piss over your hands.

pepperrabbit · 16/02/2011 22:55

ahem, x posts!
Go to bed CSWS!

where is Star???
I'm worried she's running around in front of Q holding a potty for him to aim at!
pistachio, good news re MW appt.
myjob - both my boys are happy a school, it makes a huge difference to their learning, and I feel sorry for the mums whose kids are upset every day.
CSWS, you are having such a rough time at the mo. Glad it sounds like the cavalry have arrived to help. Try to get some rest.

StarExpat · 17/02/2011 21:03

Lol thanks for the standing advice. I'm so Blush to admit that it NEVER crossed my mind that he might stand to wee!!

I do need a better system for public toilets, though. We were out in London today and he loathed going on them :( what do you all advise for that? I can't take the child toilet seat with us everywhere...

We went to natural history museum, science museum, played in Harrods and had a lovely day just Q and I today :) we were there from 10am-5pm Shock
no nap so sleeeeepy now.

Csws sounds awful at yours now :(

Csws' fb comment was so true. Mothers dont get time off sick. Even if you have a paid job and can take a day off of that, you're still a mother and don't get a day off of everything that goes with it. Pre-Q, we could just lie in bed and get better. How much easier loge was without a child. But much, much emptier :)
I can't believe it's Friday tomorrow and I have to end my holiday. Potty training has been oddly fun! :)

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/02/2011 21:38

Well today was not a good day! I have tonsilitis and have spent the day shivering and feeling like crap, becoming pretty delirious this afternoon. I remember lying on the sofa trying to speak to dd and ds1 and I couldn't string a sentence together. Thankfully dd's friend's mum borrowed a car seat from another school mum and brought dd home for me (she lives in completely the opposite direction!), and another friend came round and helped me get the kids sorted with some food and a bath and bedtime. I have just eaten my first food of the day, and feel a hundred times better than I did a few hours ago (although still crap).

I think that ds2 is teething, which might explain why the nights have been so horrendous. At least he had a good nap this afternoon and I got some sleep too. Poor old ds1 was left to his own devices with thomas on for most of the afternoon, and I didn't even manage to feed him. I let the kids scavenge for whatever food they could reach until my friend arrived!

star - I would carry a potette with me when out and about.

StarExpat · 17/02/2011 21:49

Ordering one on amazon right now!

Coconutfeet · 17/02/2011 21:54

Oh CSWS, you poor thing. It's just one thing after another for you isn't it.

Star, it sounds like it's going brilliantly. Well done. Hopefully DH will be able to keep up the good work next week. I considered PT this holiday but decided I would rather just have a bit of a break, so I think we're going to go for Easter instead.

Myjob - Where are you off to for your hols? Is this your night away or a different trip.

Pistachio - Your midwife sounds great.

Well, we've had an exciting evening. We'd just finished dinner when water started squirting everywhere from under the sink. Unfortunately, we couldn't isolate the pipes and when we turn our water off, it turns off the water in the other flats above us (long story) so we had to call out an emergency plumber. Then Dp found a dead mouse under his desk. I can't wait to move...

Hey all, good to hear the potty training is going so well, Poppy is now going on the potty in the night then back to sleep, her pull up pants are usually dry after daytime nap or overnight but I'm in no rush to take that step, think she's still a bit young for that.

We've nearlyfinished redecorating the lounge, it looks much better.

DH and I rowing more than usual is I think mainlyusboth being stressed about how labour will go this time. I've finallyrequested a proper debrief from last time, it's on Monday so hopefullythat will put a few ghosts to rest. The midwife whowill be debriefing me has already read my notes and says she thinks she remembers my labour from being on the ward at the time, can you believe that?!? Kind of made me feel better that if it was so memorable it can't be much worse and can't happen that often! (it's a pretty big hospital!)

I got a Pottette. It's brilliant. Folds nice and small and I can get it out anywhere. The liners have a thing like a pad in the bottom to absorb as well. Love it! Havent discovered the trick of snapping the legs into place quickly yet, though. Everyone else can do it Hmm

Hmm I hope the debrief goes well for you.

Pistachio that is such a lovely gift! I had to laugh at ds' evading it, though. Grin

Myjob have fun!! :)

StarExpat · 19/02/2011 14:25

Are you feeling better csws?
