Mine have cereal every weekday, we have loads as DH & I eat lots of cereal, DD goes through phases, her current obsession is Crunchy Nut Cornflakes, she lies on her changing mat in the morning as I get her dressed and shouts "crunchy flakes" at the baby monitor to get her order in early Grin. now that DS1 is big enough to pour cereal AND milk this is working well for her.
Or they'll have weetabix, shreddies or cheerios or a mixture.
If we're really good DH cooks us all pancakes and bacon with maple syrup as a treat some weekends!

StarExpat · 09/02/2011 13:01

I do cook porridge at least 3 mornings per week (oatmeal, I call it!) and he gets just fresh fruit on the side.... never thought to cook it and mix it in Blush. I'm going to steal that idea and use it, though! Sometimes I put banana in the oatmeal...

Both my two like either cereal or bread and honey (dd)/bread and jam (ds). But the only cereals they'll eat at the moment are weetabix or cheerios. We used to do porridge every day, but they have gone off it as its 'lumpy' . We do usually have something cooked at weekends, bacon/eggs/American pancakes, but not worth it in the week as dd takes ages to eat it and we have to be quick to get to school.

Pistachio - at least you have a plan for meals today! No idea what we're all having for dinner..... I don't seem to have anything in the fridge and I just got an Ocado order delivered last night Confused

StarExpat · 09/02/2011 19:45

I hate that feeling, Ekka - feeling like you can;t find a meal to make, but just had a delivery! Q had pasta in a cheese and spinach sauce tonight because I was feeling lazy and that's easy to do. I'm cooking up an uncle ben's quick rice and some tofu with veg for my dinner now.

Q prefers toast to bread. Very odd.

Ekka tell them that cheerios are much lumpier than oatmeal/porridge! Grin

The original American cheerios (in the YELLOW box) have no sugar coating and we get them from an American shop sort of nearby-ish. I don't understand why they put a sugar coating on them all here Confused.

Of course they have the honey nut cheerios and the multigrain ones with a sugar coat, but also the yellow box original ones that people give when they are little and they have no sugar glaze on them.

Pistachio - that's really funny! Is it the crunchy texture she doesn't like? I used to ask my mom to cook apples for me, too (apparently between the ages of 4-6) because I said the fresh ones were too crunchy. I still have an aversion to the crunch on onion in foods today , but will now eat apples and other crunchy fruits/veg. :)

jenwa · 09/02/2011 20:04

Haha NO I am NOT up the duff Shock Grin. I am just having time out as DH doing well with his business so thought i may aswel take the chance whilst i have it! Romansh bored????? Do you not remember by housework obsessions Grin

Star, mine have cereal most mornings as p loves weetabix or shreddies! I think if they eat it and they are happy and it's not that they eat sweets and chocolates then your ok Wink

jenwa · 09/02/2011 20:06

Holiday for me next week :) Dh the week after. Hooray! Then only a few more weeks until he's home for 3.5 weeks between dh and I with spring holiday.

I'm going to attempt potty training again on Monday. We'll see if he takes to it or not.

StarExpat · 10/02/2011 20:19

csws to get Q's medicine in, I did what the GP showed me...
sounds horrible, though :( Blush
Put the spoon in and at the same time, squeeze cheeks together so he can't spit and has to swallow. It's not nice but we did it twice, and now he takes it, with a sad face and saying "I don't like it!" and a shaking of his head afterward saying "I NEED A DRINK! That is a yucky medicine!" But, it goes in.

StarExpat · 11/02/2011 11:51

last day before holiday! HOORAY! Grin

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/02/2011 18:06

That's very soon csws. Are they going to give you the first slot of the day and allow you home?

I'm fed up. I called the hospital today to get an idea of when my appt at the miscarriage clinic might be as i've got a few questions. They hadn't even done the referral. Thank god I called them, or I'd have been waiting for ages.

When do you stop work jenwa?

StarExpat · 11/02/2011 21:49

OH csws that's awful :( Glad you called!

myjob - who knows as far as PT. WIll give it a good go

csws - can you express and hope he'll take it if he's hungry enough - through a syringe or beaker even?

Stressed to the max in our house this weekend. Can't go into detail until next week but very stressed.

I've no idea re ttc Pistachio. That was one of the things I wanted to discuss with them. All academic at present as i'm still testing positive on pregnancy tests and judging by the strength of the line I will be for a while. Enjoy your half term break! Only a week to go for me.

Star - I hope you're ok.

No internet here again. V annoying.

Honeymoonmummy · 13/02/2011 00:17

Hi all. I'm starting to think more and more about the labour now, had a bad time with Poppy altho thankfully she was fine. I'm just over 35 weeks, going to ask for a debrief of the last time in the hope I will avoid the same problems again. Apparently my hospital does continuous monitoring for strep b/ iv drip patients which is why I can't use the water, altho midwife said I can ask for Doppler under water every 15 mins instead - any thoughts?

I hated the monitoring last time because the midwife couldnt get the heartbeat unless I was on my back on the bed, which was a more painful position for me.

Anyway, I ended up in the labour ward the
other day due to reduced foetal movements but everything was fine, the little tyke started his kickboxing exercises as soon as we got in there Hmm

DH and I supposed to be going cinema tonight for first time in 3 years while PIL had poppy but had a row so didn't happen Sad

StarExpat · 13/02/2011 13:13

HMM I recommend an epidural Wink.
It doesn't hurt going in. I didn't even feel it.
Others will beat me with a stick for recommending, though.

Sorry that an argument ruined your night out :(

Honeymoonmummy · 13/02/2011 15:40

I had one two of those last time Star - it didn't work!

Does anyone know if I'm likely to be kept in for longer than overnight as a matter of course with Strep B to monitor the baby? I'll ask the midwife but not seeing her until Tues and I'm trying to pack my bag - wondering whether just to pack for one night and have a spare bag for more than one night. I was in for 5 days last time.

After 29 hours and lots of invasive midwives, I was delighted to beg for accept an epidural.
It was fabulous! :) yes the pushing was longer and ended up with ventouse and episiotomy, but was controlled and was stitched immediately after (all mws and hvs that visited me at home after examined my stitches and said "those are a doctor's stitches. They are very very good"). Oddly I felt better about a precise cut and stitch rather than a tear/rip and stitch or not. Although both are giving me that queasy feeling.

I know someone who had a baby with shoulder dystocia (sp?) and was huge so they ended up cutting her both ways Shock. a lot of stitching and cutting and no pain relief. She says she barely remembers now.
