Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
clumsymumluckybaby · 14/01/2011 14:46

melly yes,we watch charlie brooker...brilliant(he writes for the guardian too) i have an MIL who will be thinking the same, but she wouldnt dare say it too meGrin
anyhow,we'll be BLW again as it went sooo smoothly last time,so he'll need much better co-ordination for that!Grin

as for night time's i respond straight away as all i have to do is turn over and whoop out a boobGrin
if i had to make up formula,i would definatly be leaving it as long as possible! (i do not like leaving my bed!)

clumsymumluckybaby · 14/01/2011 14:47

oh and cinnamon we will love you regardless....(let us know when you'll be in btw...i want to read it!Grin)

mellymooks · 14/01/2011 15:09

yes cinnamon will still love ya! I just hate the way the focus was on BF and not on weaning this morning on the news!!

mellymooks · 14/01/2011 15:29

yes I too just roll over and pop out a boob, I so love co-sleeping suits my lazy disposition down to the ground Grin

mcfee · 14/01/2011 15:34

Hi. Can any of you (particularly with babies born beginning of Sept) tell me roughly how much your babies weigh now?

clumsymumluckybaby · 14/01/2011 15:35

cinnamongreyhound · 14/01/2011 15:56

15lb 15 last week at 16 weeks, so born 13th mcfee

mellymooks · 14/01/2011 16:29

No idea what Flynn weighs - sorry I'm always rubbish at going to get them weighed he's definitley over a stone though he too was born on 13th and is BF.

comixminx · 14/01/2011 16:31

mcfee, Aphra was born on the 2nd Sept and was weighed on Wed: she was 5.095 kilos. She's only on the 2nd percentile by the way, but as she's been there consistently I'm quite happy.

clumsymumluckybaby · 14/01/2011 16:48

arlo was born 4th sept and is BF...but ive no idea im afraid...he is however currently sporting a 12-18 month pj set!Shock (it is boden though, and they do come up small i think!)

i'll try to find out next wednesday!

i think as long as they're feeding well theres not a problem DD was still in 0-3months at this age,and shes fine, just a bit short...like her dad

beaditAli · 14/01/2011 16:58

mcfee Jack born 20th and is 15lbs 7oz now. 9lbs 7oz at birth. 98th percentile for head and length but just under 75th for weight.

Jack 16 weeks +4

newmum001 · 14/01/2011 18:15

mcfee grace was born on the 14th, had her weighed a couple of weeks ago at 15 weeks and she was 15lb 6 she's FF she was 6lb 10 at birth.

bananastew · 14/01/2011 19:08

Mcfee Olly was born on the 31st Aug so is 20 weeks on tues. 15lb 6oz. Mind if I ask why???

My pil read the sun and already can't understand why Olly isn't already eating maccy ds! Can't wait for the comments when I see them next! Dh and I have just had a discussion about what we're going to do & have decide top wait till 5 months then see how ready he seems. I wish the focus would go away from age and look at signs of readiness! Talking of signs. How do you know when they've lost the tongue thrust??

Ollys gone in his own room! I'm very nervous! Not sure why cos he naps in there & is in there from 4am every morning. I'm just sad cos he's not in my room anymore! & I don't get to use my beautiful crib!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 14/01/2011 19:33

I have no idea bananastew, I guess you just have to try with food and see what happens. Luke seems to have lost it, have been giving him veg for last few days as part of the EAT study he doesn't like it but doesn't seem to have tongue thrust.

mellymooks · 14/01/2011 19:49

banana is as cinnamon says just got to try it, you'll soon know if he keeps spitting everything out, coughing/choking or being a bit sick, DD's reflex was very late going and she didn't really get into solids til up hill for a year old. They are all so different.

mapletrees · 14/01/2011 20:10

mcfee Louis was born on 1st Sept and was 15lbs 4oz when I last had him weighed a week ago, so he's just below the 50th centile.

banana I know Louis hasn't quite lost his tongue thrust yet as he still pushes his dummy out for a couple of seconds before sucking it. It's definitely much less than it used to be though. I'm not sure if they do the same thing with bottles? (He's generally to busy screaming whenever we try to out one in his mouth [resignedsigh].)

mapletrees · 14/01/2011 20:10

put, even

mcfee · 14/01/2011 20:26

Thanks for your replies. DD2 was born on 2nd Sept and I made the mistake yesterday of comparing her to a friend's baby who is a week older. DD2 looked enormouse even though she was lighter at birth than the other baby. Up til then I thought she was perfectly chubby... you would think with the 2nd that I would be less neurotic! Anyway got her weighed today and she is 15lbs which from all your replies seems pretty OK. At ease!!

mcfee · 14/01/2011 20:27

enormous not enormouse Grin

bananastew · 14/01/2011 20:40

mcfee Glad we could help!!

clumsymumluckybaby · 14/01/2011 20:41

oh good,mcfee,glad you were reassuredGrin
she sounds perfectly okay...im sure Arlo is a big baby but he is long and thin and BFOD so i dont think i need to worry!

will you be joining us again? what is your dd's name?!Smile

mcfee · 14/01/2011 20:55

comixminx Aphra sounds like a little petite wee thing.

clumsymumluckybaby I just usually lurk a lot and only sometimes post but I've never had a question which couldn't be answered on MN! and when I miscarried before this pregnancy there was lots of much needed support on a Sunday night. Think I would like to join in more on this thread though, I could do with sharing with people with babies at exactly the same stage. There's 6 years between DD1 & DD2 and I have forgotten everything!

comixminx · 14/01/2011 20:57

mcfee, I made the mistake inadvertently of comparing Aphra to the other babies in my NCT group and she was soooooo small that it made me quite depressed the first time! So long as the baby is doing well that's the main thing, and there's no need to compare them to others even of very similar ages. Easier said than done of course!

I'd never heard of tongue thrust before and just googled it. The first few pages I saw indicated that they don't grow out of it until they're 7 years old??!! Can anyone recommend any other places to look as I'm obviously googling the wrong things!

comixminx · 14/01/2011 21:03

x-post mcfee - yes, she's definitely petite!

cinnamongreyhound · 14/01/2011 21:54

I don't know where to look comixminx, from what I understand it's a reflux that stops the baby choking so that wen something goes in their mouth they stick their Tongue out to push it out. It doesn't stop them from eating milk as the Tongue goes underneath the nipple/teat but it does make a difference to how easy it is to feed them even if they're purées. Someone else may have a better explanation for you though!
