Hellooooo!! TFI friday!!!!

Driving lesson went well i think, i only drove up and down a street 3 times but learning in a mini and it's beautiful!!

We're trying to get Grace on an earlier bedtime and it is not going well. She's cut out her afternoon/evening nap by having 2 longer naps in the day so she's set herself up for a 7.30 bedtime the last 3 nights but has woken up immediately after being put down and has eventually gone to bed at 10. We'll see what happens tonight i suppose. Just fed her now so going to settle her and see if she'll go to bed.

My mum had Grace this afternoon while i went for my driving lesson and when i got back she delighted in showing me how she'd tought her to feed herself, this involved putting the bottle in Grace's hands and watching her bang herself repeatedly on the head with it. It was very funny! She's also discovered her feet today but can't quite manage to grab them yet but was fascinated by her knees in the bath earlier! Still no rolling though!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend planned, me and DP are having an afternoon at the cinema and going for a meal. I can't wait!

Chelle hope you have a fab night tomorrow, is it bad that i would rather sleep than have sex Grin

newmum001 · 28/01/2011 19:51

cinnamon you are a braver woman than me. I would be absolutely terrified. It does sound amazing though, hope you love it!

MammyG · 28/01/2011 20:44

cinnamon cant wait for update so exciting!A girl I know around here has done something after the birth of each of her children
(she has 5)She has a hgv licence, a masters, a motorbike licence, ran marathons and now is a licenced pilot! Hate her!!! Makes me feel tired thinking about it - wonder what drugs she is on? Grin
Phoebe did a good night last night but DS2 didnt think it would be right for me to sleep all night so he had a turn instead! Joy!
Nice day today tho - nothing special just everyone in alright humor and no pressure. Boys going to my brothers for a sleepover tomorrow night, think teenager is staying with a friend so just me Dh and Phoebs. Must plan something.
Going buying 3 pairs of shoes in the morning - lovely black belted boots - quite cool, gorgeous brown shoes and black shoes for work that are also surprisingly cool. Half price sale so I get all of them for the original price of the boots - how bad!

MammyG · 28/01/2011 20:45

Also - had made dream last night that I was pregnant again! Gave me the heebeejeebees! Still no period - wish it would hurry up!

lumpybananapuree · 28/01/2011 20:59

newmum my other baby is a mini!!

Well, the weaning has started here! Not sure how well it went. I'll let you all know after round 2 tomorrow!

JessemyParkson · 29/01/2011 08:56

Envy at the shoe shopping mammy I've been banned from buying more shoes and boots till I make space for some :o

Wow cinnamon that's a great idea! Got me and DH talking about our 30ths now. I've put in a request to have an Audi R8 for the weekend lol

Mary had a funny night last night. She fell asleep on DH while I was getting her tea ready, and I didn't have the heart to wake her. Put her down and had our evening with DS. She woke a couple of times in the night, but is in very good spirits and voice now!

Who's got what planned this weekend then? I'm off to get my hair cut this afternoon - can't wait! It's been a good 3 months since I last treated myself :)

comixminx · 29/01/2011 10:40

Blimey, been a busy-feeling week for me - went into work on Monday and Wed, with my mum looking after Aphra - enjoyed th work part of it but having a third adult in our smallish house, and one who has lots of views on things, is a stress in itself of course! Add in to that a manky cold (now nearly gone), the cold weather, an all-day recovery on Thurs (mostly due to the cold), and some catch up yesterday, and the whole week has flown by.

I finally gave Aphra some Calpol yesterday evening and she was so much better for it! She's got the same cold as me, poor thing, and I considered doing it earlier but she didn't seem obviously to need it. But yesterday she was just a bit fretful for most of the day - she's such a cheerful baby normally - and she didn't sleep well at all, but once I gave her the Calpol she quietened right down and slept better. Cue feeling guilty that I didn't give it her earlier!

Unlike various of the rest of you here, I'm looking forward to going back to work - well, sort of - the organisation of it is not something I'm massively looking forward to, but I really enjoy my work, and like my colleagues. It can get busy and stressful so compartmentalising it off at the end of the day will be a big challenge. Dunno how it will all actually work out though...

Aphra 21 weeks + 3 days

mapletrees · 29/01/2011 11:49

Well, I kept an eye out for cinnamon, but I didn't spot her.. It's v cloudy here today Sad but hopefully she still had a good time..

I'm quite looking forward to going back to work too. It's not that I want to leave Louis, but I have quite an interesting job, and I like the mental challenge. The end of April, when I'm supposed to be going back seems very soon now though.. I still haven't left the little man for more than an hour and a half yet, so I think it's going to be a big adjustment. I'm just banking on him being a little more independant once he's weaned (and maybe taking milk from a cup [opmimistic emoticon]) so I can start leaving him with DP for longer periods so we can both get used to the idea..

mapletrees · 29/01/2011 13:01

Well I can't accuse Louis of being predictable - just when I'd given up trying to get him to nap for longer than 45mins, I put him down at 10 this morning, and he's still sleeping! If only he'd told me in advance I could have bought the paper and lounged around caught up on the housework Wink

cinnamongreyhound · 29/01/2011 17:52

WOW!!!!!! That was amazing, I just want to get back in! I managed to fly it myself for a lot of the time which was great, although I was rubbish when we got to the hovering part. He said I was better than average (who knows if he says that to everyone) and a natural, if I wanted to get my licence it costs about £16,000 including lessons. Just need to start saving for my next one, apparently takes roughly 60hrs (£300 per hour) to train.

Luke was up at 12 and then 5 so not too bad last night.

We went out towards Newmarket from the airport mapletrees so not really over cambridge at all. Had to steer away from areas with house too.

newmum001 · 29/01/2011 21:24

What's everyone doing with the LO's once they go back to work? Grace is going into nursery mon-thurs and my mum will have her on Fridays. I hate the though of her going to nursery for 4 days though. I think i might ask my boss if i can go back part time for the rest of this year. I don't fancy my chances but it's worth asking. Talked about it with DP and he said to do what i think is best for me and is fully behind me going part time if my boss will allow it, fingers crossed!!

clumsymumluckybaby · 29/01/2011 21:48

Heelllooooo! how are you guys then?!

missed me?!!

Alo is a huge and massive lump, rolling all over the place!bouncing too,and rocking back and forth alot like hes working up the momentum to fly offGrin

cinnamon thats sounds amazing! but im a scaredy cat,so id have chickened out Blush

sorry you guys have been chatting way too much to catch up on,so let me know if i put my foot in it!Grin

comixminx · 29/01/2011 22:31

cinnamon, how cool must that have been! So jealous. Not sure that I fancy driving flying a helicopter myself but being up in the air in one would be just ace.

newmum, we've got to sort out child care - I've put my name down for a nursery that's linked to my workplace but I won't find out more until April or so. I'm also going to find out about childminders nearby in case that makes best sense. I have no idea what will work best, basically! Current idea is that I will go 4 days a week and so will DP, so that we only need childcare for 3 days in a week.

clumsy, good to see you back! Yes, you were missed. How is it all, apart from Arlo of course?

cinnamongreyhound · 29/01/2011 22:37

I was wondering where you were clumsymumluckybaby! Luke lifts his bum off the floor all the time and rolls up onto his side but hasn't got further. I made a bit of a cock up the first time I took the controls and thought about saying I wanted him to fly for the rest of the time but I didn't and I'm so glad I didn't!

cinnamongreyhound · 29/01/2011 22:43

Other than being a childminder we used one with ds1 and it's much more flexible than a nursery but I have a friend who had a terrible one (before I became one) and she had so much time off ill my friend had to use loads of her holiday to be at home with her little boy. I think it depends on the environment you want your child to be in really and if you can find a childminder you feel a rappour with. It's such a tricky relationship at times but if you have similar ideas or the childminder will/is able to follow your requests it can be great for the children. A nursery linked to your work would be handy comixminx. If you can go part time newmum001 and you want to that sounds great. It's such a short time if you want to be there it would be sad to feel you've missed out because you didn't ask the question.

clumsymumluckybaby · 29/01/2011 22:49

Well ive been having a bit of a rubbish time with DP...but he has apologised A LOT.and so we are getting back on track...DD is fine,my sister was staying, has gone for a travel round teh uk and will be back next week, she has her daughter with her and DD is loving the companySmile

DD has been doing her nursery induction sessions this week and last, she loves it there, but not so much when i or dp leave atm,we are working on it though!
there was a little girl there last time who was about 18mo and just crying her eyes out for the whole 2 hours we were there, she looked so tierd and sad poor thing, she stays there from 8am till 6.30 5 days a week.not judging,im sure there are good reasons, but i was a bit sad for her!

Dixiebell · 30/01/2011 09:11

OMG, Arlo slept from 6.30pm to 7.30am!!! I dropped the dream feed last night, as he's been waking at 2 and 5 anyway, and dunno if it's a coincidence or because if that, but soooo happy! He did wake and cry once - I got up and went to get ready for feed, came back in and he was sucking his thumb happily, so left him and he went back to sleep. Only thing is, at 7.30 he fed only for about 5 mins then refused more. Would have thought he'd be starving?! I've had to pump this morning as my boobs were like boulders. Is this normal? Maybe the milk was coming out faster as boobs so full, so he got full quicker?

Arlo 17 weeks tomorrow!

mapletrees · 30/01/2011 09:29

comix, your childcare situ sounds just like ours.. We're waiting to find out about a place at our work's nursery, and thinking about childminders as well.. We're also both planning to work 4 days so he's only in nursery/cm's 3 days.. Which days are you thinking of both working - 3 consecutive or Mon/Wed/Fri? I'm not sure which would be a better routine for Louis, but we've asked for a nursery place for Tue/Wed/Thurs to give us each a long weekend.

clumsy I was wondering where you'd got to too. Glad Skye is liking her nursery Smile

Debs75 · 30/01/2011 10:25

ArrggghhhAngry
Lucy is not sleeping again. She has followed the pattern from her 2nd set of jabs, pooey and sleepy for 36-48 hours then not sleeping all night. I spent almost all night feeding her and she would not let go or fall asleep.
DD2 has a cold and Lucy is now a bit snotty so that could be the problem. Am hoping it is then it should resolve in a few days rather then dragging on for 6 weeks!

Cinnamon glad you enjoyed the flying, you are definitely braver then me

comixminx · 30/01/2011 10:35

maple, my DP has to take Fridays and I think there are rules at my place about not breaking up the week, so I think I'd also have to take either Mondays or Fridays, so obv that'd be Mondays for me. Snap! Dunno if the nursery will offer it though: they only do whole weeks, so someone else has to take the days you don't want, if you see what I mean.

lumpybananapuree · 30/01/2011 17:17

I'd love a go in a helecopter! They do rides here every year at the waddington airshow but its £60pp & we just can't afford it!

Toby went to a childminder who was a friend who registered especially to have him but this time they're both going into nursery as she's also had another baby & inconsiderately moved away. Only 20 mins but she used to live literally round the corner!
I hated the thought of putting toby into a nursery but I'm actually quite excited this time. Its a lovely new building, an old house adapted & so homely. I only work 3 days a week so its not too bad. Newmum, dh was the same. let me decide what I wanted to do. full time or part time. As long as the children are happy & there's food on the table he doesn't care! When I go back I'll be working wed, thurs, fri.

Welcome back clumsy!

Ollys waking more in the night & taking less milk! He used to go 7,11,3,6,4 and have 6-7oz each time. He's now going 5.30,9,12,3,6,2.30! and only having 3-4oz. 5 ion the very rare occasion! Why????? Confused

beadit the porridge went down much better Smile no swilling it round, just a yum yum swallow!!! Sometimes I feel like i'm the 1st time mum! Grin

Luke was up at 12.30, 3.30, 4.30 and 6.30 :( I am knackered today!! He went to bed at 6 but just woke up crying, feeding him now but hes falling asleep again, hurray! Sounds like lots of babies are getting worse at night not better. One of my minded children is only coming after school so no school run in the morning yay!!!!

A friend of mine has booked tickets for her and her lo plus me and ds1 to go an see roary at the theatre. Only just thought I will have to do something with Luke! How could I forget him, he's been around 20 weeks tomorrow!!

newmum001 · 30/01/2011 19:28

Bannana i'm thinking of doing Wednesday, Thursday, Friday aswell as my mum will be having Grace on fridays so she'll only be in nursery 2 days if i work those days. I do want her to go to nursery as i think it will be good for her but i just really really don't want to put her in all week, not only that but it will cost a fortune. I need to ring my boss this week and i'm already really nervous about it! x
