William didn't do so well at nursery, but it was his first day out of the house and we've had a very quiet couple of days at home which contrasted with his day at nursery. He's still very positive though and is happy to be a big boy now!

Anyone watching the cherry healy programme on bbc3? I've been pleasantly surprised by it. It has come with a side-effect: I want another baby do I can bf again! Maybe because my baby has grown up this week Grin

Oh I am glad that the BF programme was OK - I saw a synopsis of it and just avoided it cos it always really riles me the way BF is talked about in such freaky terms. I might watch it on iplayer. My v.bf.friendly nurse practitioner was chatting away with me re bf today as I had my smear (!) done by another nurse, then the other nurse joined in to talk about someone who had bf till their child was 11. It really annoys me how these mums always get wheeled out whenever bf is mentioned. You will not be weirdo mum Loopy!!!! Lucky DD4.

Jetgirl - Adam had some accidents at nursery this week. Always dry otherwise so I guess it is just more difficult in that environment.

Hi everyone!! :o

How is everyone doing?!

Loopy - cant believe you are due any day now! Where has the time gone!

Jet - well done William on the potty training and i'm glad your dad is making progress.

Nothing much to report this end really. DD has been dry at night for months now with just the odd wee in her night time pull ups. I've only got 2 pull ups left now so thought i would take this opportunity to stop her wearing them altogether. So last night was the first night in ages that she didn't wear a pull up and despite DP asking if we should wake her for the loo, i said "nah, she'll be alright". Cue DD waking me up at 4.45am this morning with a soaking wet nightie and a wet bed. Poor little lamb, i felt so bad! Blush

Nursery is going very well - she loves it and is happy to go off and play for the afternoon 2 days a week. They are teaching them the alphabet and she seems to be wanting to learn to read and write too, which i am very chuffed about!

Any imaginery friends yet? DD has developed what i would call a "Future Friend" called Tincey (sp??!). She doesn't sit and chat to her or anything but apparently DD and Tincey will work together in London and they will get the train to work too. Tonight DD told me that Tincey has two friends called Marsha and Soshop. If DD ever does go and work in London and meets someone called Tincey, it will really freak me out!! Shock

Hope everyone is well! :o

Hi all!
RG - the imaginary friend sounds cute. My dd never had one, but William has a crazy imagination so I wouldn't be surprised if he developed one at some point. He has already pretended to be my doctor today, given me doses of water and called me 'person' because he realised I wasn't mummy in his little game.

Greedy - you've reminded me my smear test is due! I'll have to take William with me though. Not sure about that one!

Loopy - I do think as the child gets much older, continuing to bf is more for the mother than the child, but feeding toddlers does seem more norto me than it did before I became a mother. Does that make sense? What continues to astonish and scare me is how much misinformation there still is about. Hearing a colleague rubbish the idea of cluster feeding stunned me, she just couldn't understand how stimulating supply worked. Another friend was advised to give formula top-ups despite baby gaining weight well, and this was in.the first couple of weeks before supply was established and, surprise surprise, her supply dwindled and she ended up ff entirely. How this poor advice can be prevented though, I don't know.

Oooh what is it like using a kindle Loopy? I can't afford to get one at the moment but I like the idea of it for hols and travelling. Can you get children's books with illustrations in etc. for the kindle? Sorry if that is a dim question.

Re the bf - yes I think that 11 yo is stretching it a bit! But it really annoys me that many convos re bf will turn to the tiny minority of women who bf beyond toddlerhood and all the comments that go along with that. I was really po-faced about the whole "bitty" routine in Little Britain for that reason. Even my neighbour the other day told me that the idea of bf makes her feel "icky" even though she knew I bf for nearly 2 years. Grrrrrr!!!! Rant over.

Well no imaginary friends here but a very active imagination nontheless - DS is petrified of being left alone in any room in the house, thinking that all kinds of baddies from fairytales are going to come and get him Sad!! I feel really awful, we took him to see Tangled (he loves all things "princess"!) and parts of it really were quite scary for a 3 yo imo, I didn't realise it was PG. Anyhow, after initially getting frustrated with him for the shrieking I am now just trying to reassure him and pamper to him a bit, lots of cuddles (every cloud has a silver lining!).

My mum loves her kindle, I have the kindle app on my phone nd I'm reading Cranford too on it! I find it handy when I'm on the bus home from work, it makes the journey go faster!

Greedy - William also likes princess stuff, he is largely influenced by his sister! He has designated each of us a Disney princess alter ego, his is Mulan. We've read the book of Tangled, dd saw it at the cinema but William hasn't. I think the book is much milder.

DD and I have been making Easter eggs, we got a mould in sainsburys and it's pretty good. A great way to fill up holiday time! We've also been planting seeds, growing radishes, tomatoes, sunflowers, runner beans and peas! Tomorrow we're making DH's birthday cake, William is design chief! Grin

Greedygirl · 19/04/2011 21:17

You sound very productive Jetgirl! We planted some sunflowers (we are having a race, but god help me if my one wins!) and did some baking the other day...love pottering at home. But I have never made an Easter egg, v.impressed!

Kindles sound like the way forward. Xmas list.

Adam's absolute favourite princess is Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) but he is partial to Arial too. He recently went to a party dressed as a skeleton (his own idea) but managed to find a princess dress in the dressing up box and spent the rest of the party flouncing around and stroking his dress tenderly, saying "I'm princess aurora"! Everyone thought he looked very pretty.

Never seen Mulan Loopy but couldn't agree more with you about the rest of the bunch, every time Adam insists on getting any princess book out of the library I feel like stabbing myself in the head with the nearest sharp instrument!

Mulan sounds cool! I will encourage Adam to watch it some time. I really enjoyed Rapunzel! Shame it has traumatised Adam. Adam still likes Scooby Doo the best and I am happy for him to continue with that rather than Ben 10 or similar crapola. The most recent incarnation of Scooby is dire though, with Velma wearing eyeliner and hair slides in an effort to sex her up (Adam says she has "naughty eyes"!), and a stick thin Daphne alternating between wearing and bikini and fawning over Freddy. She was never a feminist role model but really!!

I am looking for a new job. They are a bit thin on the ground. Anyone would think there was a recession!

Hi everyone :o

The kindle does sound really cool, but i am not much of a reader these days. I used to always have my nose in a book years ago but that was probably waaaay before computers were invented lol.

DD has seen Tangled too and it did scare her a little bit but not too much, so i think we're ok with that one. She has a toy Arial that she plays with in the bath (it's a special light up one that is meant as a bath toy) so i would quite like her to see an Arial film so that she can relate more to her doll. She's seen Snow White but i'm not sure what other disney princess film she's seen (MIL shows her loads).

It would seem that DD has now conquered being dry at night! :o She has been dry for a few months now, with just the odd wee in her pull up but we've not used a pull up since last week and so far there hasn't been one accident. I have been lifting her tho before i go to bed and she has been doing a wee, but last night she didn't need a wee when i lifted her. I pointed out to DP (who was worried she'd have an "accident") that she's been dry at night for months in her pullups without being lifted so she'd be fine and she was! Clever girl!

Not much news here at all really. I have such a dull life!

Hope everyone is well!

Loopy - when are you due?! Must be soon!! How exciting! :o

jetgirl · 24/04/2011 08:51

Happy Easter all! Off on an egg hunt later (once I've hidden the eggs). We're at the ILs in Lichfield for the weekend, so the kids are well-entertained, and dh and I have had lie-ins. Yay!

RGPargy · 24/04/2011 22:05

Happy easter everyone!!

Am very Envy of your lie ins! Got woken up at 1.30am this morning by DD coming in and then she refused to go back into her own without making a huge fuss so i chose the quiet option and let her stay in with us Blush Then she woke up at her normal time of 5.30am. What's that all about?!!! HALF BLOODY FIVE!!! Every day!!!! Wink

Greedygirl · 26/04/2011 18:44

Hi RG - we have a 6 o'clock waker here but hols are a bit more relaxed. He only seems to need 11 hours a night (or even less) and if we let him have a nap we are stuffed! Staying up late a few nights has allowed a couple of lie-ins so that has been nice.

Well, after a hectic weekend it has been really nice to go back to normality and potter and play at home! Adam likes being out and about but even he was asking to come home. Hope everyone else is having a nice easter.

Any teachers on here done moderation work? I have been offered some and the money is very tempting but I am worried about the amount of extra work I may have to do.

Happy birthday to me!

Greedy - I never have done exam work, but one of my colleagues does marking. She says it's a lot of work for not much money, but valuable for her teaching and knowledge of how the exams work. She wants me to consider it (she's my faculty leader) but I really value my time with the kids, especially dd now she's at school, so I'm avoiding it!

William chose me a lovely pair of earrings for my birthday. He's got taste! I did get a he-man card from him too though Grin

littleoldme · 27/04/2011 19:00

Hi all. Glad to hear everyone has had good Easter. We went off to the inlaws static on Anglesey and had a fab time. Tom is on good form although the potty training is still a struggle. he's currently tantruming in his room because he refused to go to the loo then weed in his trousers. he was told very firmly that if that happened it was bed and no story. I'm sticking to my guns but V Sad He's just too busy to wee!

had a lovely day with DH today. t was in nursery all day and DH off so we took Patch and went for swanky lunch. felt very indulgent.

Patch is being a little superstar; he is soooo sweet. Won't take a bottle though which is huge pain as I really don't want to be still BF when he's one.

Loopy - You can have the tens by all means. Email if you still want it and I'll post it to you. Can't believe you are so close now.

Greedy - Exam marking is full on when you are doing it but well worth the money. I usually do 600 papers at 3.84 each itisn't bad. I would recommend choosing which paper you paper very carefully as some take longer than others. When I'm into it I can do 10 an hour.

Jet- love the He- Man card !

Happy Birthday for Tuesday Jet! :o

Loopy - sorry you haven't been able to sleep - what a bummer. I value my sleep so much and i get peed off if it's interrupted! At the same tho, i am very much a night owl and often pay the consequences of staying up late in the hope that DD will actually "lie in" for a change, only to be rudely awakened at 5.30am again by DD saying "are you so tired mummy?" and then jumping into bed and talking inscesently (sp?) at me about all sorts of jibberish lol.

What have you/or you doing with all your LO's easter eggs/chocolates?? DD got loads and thankfully thinks that as it's now not easter any more, she cant eat them!! I dont know why she thinks she's not allowed to eat them anymore lol but i'm not too sorry about it as i dont want her to eat that much chocolate in such a short space of time! I am considering hiding it all in my wardrobe, and also hoping that it doesn't call to me through the clothes that i will shove in front of the dreaded chocolate bag!! [cconfused]

RGPargy · 28/04/2011 10:09

Sorry, what have you/are you.........
