....thought i'd better start a thread as there are currently 4 of us, with several more to follow!

Joey is now 4 days old (where did the time go?!?), and is doing really well. He actually managed to sleep through with just one feed last night, though i must confess i cheated and had him in bed with me (at my MW's recommendation!) as he was so fretful the night before.

Looking forward in the coming days and weeks to welcoming the other members of the Oct 05 antenatal group to this post-natal club, so i won't feel like Billy No-Mates, talking to myself

mummygow good to see you back.
Thomas seems happy enough but he has been more sicky then usual, we are on our third bib of the afternoon so far....

YOKEFLEET · 15/12/2005 17:26

morningpaper Seen on another thread about 1st jabs, is your lo suffering?

BigBumpBonnie · 16/12/2005 10:48

Thought we had a great routine going with Ruby sleeping through from about 11pm until 7am but for the last two nights she's been waking at 3am for a feed. We're not doing anything differently so I don't know why it's happening but that goes to show you can't get too complacent! She's a generally happy, contented baby though and really easy to look after. I'm finding it a strain with my two year old as she's now decided she no longer wants her afternoon nap so I'm trying to keep her entertained all day and it's hard. It was also nice when she slept in the afternoon as I had time to spend with Ruby without feeling guilty! I'm going to find a pre school for dd1 as soon as Christmas is over as she needs far more stimulation than I can offer at the moment. I'm feeling more ready for Christmas now and have even wrapped most of the presents.

Is everyone else organised now?

morningpaper · 16/12/2005 11:10

Yokefleet jabs went ok, a LOT of screaming but calmed down and no ill effects at all.

Baby sleeping WELL, only waking once or twice, BLISS!

3 year old has high fever and bronciolitis - been three days, so no nursery for respite for me! And not been out of the house (except to Doctors!) so going slowly mad!

morningpaper · 16/12/2005 11:12

Redtartanlass: Your toddler sounds just like bronciolitis too - look it up. GP said there's loads of it about.

tiggyhop · 16/12/2005 11:33

Hi everyone - I haven't posted for ages, but pop in to read occasionally. I have Kate (3.10.05) and two dss (01.01.03) and (05.06.04). Right, how are you all managing to get your small ones to sleep??? Both dss were sleeping 12 hours a night at 12 weeks and have never been any trouble since. But this little one is a shocker - still waking every 3 hours all night even thought she is 10 weeks and huge. With 3 under 3 I am a little ragged! Ho hum. Still, looking forward to Christmas.

YOKEFLEET · 16/12/2005 18:19

Thank goodness it's weekend!! I have hurt my chest somehow and it's agony lifting Thomas up and down once in my arms I'm ok with him.
My friend who is pg has asked me for the best bit of advice I was given, what was yours? I'd say try to sleep when baby sleeps in those first few weeks and sod the housework (I didn't do this but have learnt my lesson!)OH and of course I will recommend this site!

Elf1981 · 16/12/2005 19:07

BBB maybe your Ruby is having a growth spurt.

Elf1981 · 16/12/2005 19:08

my best advice while being pregnant is to sleep whenever the feeling takes you and to stock up on milkshake for the heartburn in later months if you dont like the taste of milk.
best advice with baby - get dp to look after baby while you have a lovely relaxing bath, at least for an hour, it makes you feel like a whole new woman even if you've had the day from hell

tiggyhop · 16/12/2005 19:44

Mine was that the baby will not become a manic depressive at the age of 30 if you leave him to cry for a short time...

FastasleepInAManger · 16/12/2005 19:47

All I can say is, sneaking on here, five minutes, help! DH away on course all week... end of tether... no dinner... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH

I knew I should never have let him go on that course, I've gone completely barmy... it's been hell... hell. A grumpy post jabs baby and a horrible terrible twoey monster....

Thank GOD DH is coming back in the early hours of this morning!!

Will try to catch up on posts tomorrow when I'm having my day off and making soap... Hope you're all doing well xxx

FastasleepInAManger · 16/12/2005 19:47

should that be tomorrow morning? I don't know my brain's frazzled.

YOKEFLEET · 16/12/2005 21:39

fastasleep I know how you feel about dh being away, my dh had a course at the beginnig of the week (only sun-tue thankfully) At least I only had one lo to contend with though!!!
elf I agree on the bath, am just off for one now whilst dh does Thomas's last feed.
tiggyhop my mil thinks its awful if I don't pick Thomas up the second he wimpers!
ow thought of another one, don't try to make plans in the early weeks as it takes practice to get you and baby ready for a set time in the morning (I remember taking Thomas for his 1st appointment at Drs! I went wearing a very strange combination outfit and hadn't remembered to brush my hair or teeth ) I do much better now, mind you I do now have a hair brush and pack of mints in my bag...just in case

YOKEFLEET · 17/12/2005 10:30

Awful night last night with Thomas - he went down at 11pm and didn't stop screaming until 1am! was then awake again at 4am, 5.30am and 6.45am! am shattered!
Hope you all have had a better nights sleep!

tricesawmummykissingsantaclaus · 17/12/2005 15:40

My best advice would be to listen to your instincts, and ask for help.

tricesawmummykissingsantaclaus · 17/12/2005 15:40

Ohh - a bath! That sounds lovely.

danishmummy · 17/12/2005 21:30

fastasleep and yokefleet -- at least you have dh's that are coming back home!! My dd is a bit of a challenge and power struggle at the mo, as well as baby Martin being hard to put to bed for the night... am soooooooo tired, and no-one to hand screaming, overtired child to. And I do not know when this being-in-it-alone-business will end... at least you do!

Sorry, didn't mean to sound horrible, or as if your struggles are not getting to you. I do feel for you, but please be happy, that you have a dh in your life at all!

morningpaper · 17/12/2005 22:02

danishmummy: Sorry baby is being difficult, you are doing an AMAZING job and it must be grim at times.

Baby slept this evening instead of screaming but has just woken up and vomited everywhere and is strugglng to breathe with mucous - 3 year old has bronchiolitis, REALLY hope the baby doesn't have it.

Elf1981 · 18/12/2005 09:11

It's my DH's birthday today and we're off out for dinner. My mum and dad are babysitting!!
Bit worried that Evie will not take the bottle but I am hoping it will be okay. We had to go out and buy a load of new teats to see if she preferred them to the ones we had. Think we've cracked it with a NUK bottle. What a palarva - spent all week expressing and she still might refuse the bottle!

YOKEFLEET · 18/12/2005 20:24

dannishmummy sorry if I sounded like I was whining I can't imagine going through this on my own.

Redtartanlass · 18/12/2005 21:17

MP - yes ds2 has bronciolitis, and baby has it now. Up all night just holding her as everytime she coughed she had a choking fit.

Anyway off to bed.....

Hope you all feeling better....

tricesawmummykissingsantaclaus · 18/12/2005 21:44

sorry to hear about the bronchiolitis RTL, it is really upsetting when they can't breathe properly. DS had it badly when he was small and spent a couple of weeks in the hospital. They can sort it out really easily with a nebuliser.

You have not been having the best start with this little one, I imagine that you are shattered. I hope they both get better soon.

morningpaper · 18/12/2005 22:26

RTL Broncholitis here too with the baby now - GAH up all night with both of them choking and gasping for air. They are both not TOO bad with it now (I HOPE) but baby keeps bringing up feeds and now looks jaundiced - I will take her to Docs tomorrow. SOOOOOOOOOO stressful when they are sick, especially with two. Much sympathy to you! Hope our babies are all better soon!!! XXX

Elf1981 · 19/12/2005 00:33

RTL & MP, I feel very sorry for you. I found it hard with Evie when she had bronchiolitis so cannot imagine how it must be with two children poorly with it. Hope they get better really quickly. Evie was poorly (very) for a few days then turned a corner and was better, although not well for a week or so after that, but at least after the inital five days or so she stopped the horrendous coughing fits and was breathing better.

YOKEFLEET · 19/12/2005 08:21

RTL & MP Hope your little ones doing better this morning.
Advice needed please - Thomas has a little cough and sounds a bit chesty, but he didn't have a disturbed nights sleep last night and when he has been laid in his cot he wasn't coughing and his breathing sounds normal. Should I try to get him to Drs or not?
