....thought i'd better start a thread as there are currently 4 of us, with several more to follow!

Joey is now 4 days old (where did the time go?!?), and is doing really well. He actually managed to sleep through with just one feed last night, though i must confess i cheated and had him in bed with me (at my MW's recommendation!) as he was so fretful the night before.

Looking forward in the coming days and weeks to welcoming the other members of the Oct 05 antenatal group to this post-natal club, so i won't feel like Billy No-Mates, talking to myself

We have decided to put some money into a bank account for Evelyn. Other people have gone into overdrive - my mum's getting her one of those roll n roar dinasour toys and loads of clothes etc, my FIL has brought a rocking horse (which she cant use til she's two!!) and my sisters have brought loads of stuff as well. I have brought her a Minnie Mouse teddy from Disney store though, soooo cute!

YOKEFLEET · 05/12/2005 12:45

BBB - thanks she is feeling better then she was, she was admitted to hospital yesterday as her lip is infected because a piece of her broken tooth is still in there. The surgen was going to take it out this morning under a local, not heard from her yet. My dad is on his way to our house so that I can feed him as I don't think he has thought much about himself the last couple of days.
DH has got flu and is in bed at the moment coughing away, Thomas and I have slept in the spare room but each time his daddy coughed Thomas seemed to wake up, so not much sleeping getting done around here.
RE - Christmas, we are putting money into Thomas's bank account to, as he will get pressies from other family members. (I am on the look-out for a "babies 1st Christmas" Teddy though!)
BBB - I can't really believe that it is December yet let alone nearly Christmas, we moved here (Wales) when I was 34w pg and left our Xmas dec's at my sisters in Yorkshire - Not sure whether to buy more as we are going back to Yorkshire for Xmas anyway.
Elf - I hope that Evie is feeling better soon and that gift looks fantastic!

Elf1981 · 05/12/2005 12:53

I'm very pleased with the gift, think it will be hard to only get one picture though, so will probably buy a couple.
If you want "baby's first" items, Studio do quite a bit. Evie has a load of first Xmas bibs, a stocking and tree decoration. Must stop people buying!!

YOKEFLEET · 05/12/2005 13:14

When Thomas was born we bought him a "baby's 1st" teddy from Tesco, which was nice.

Jockey · 05/12/2005 15:30

Hi. Not doing too badly here. Baby had a lovely long sleep this morning, while I frantically shopped on the internet (hope it all arrives ok). DS is in a foul mood - no way am I taking him round the shops!

We don't have any kind of routine here and I'm not expecting anything for ages yet - just trying to go with the flow. It all goes so quickly. I can guarantee, however, that baby will cry when my head is covered with shampoo, on the telephone, about to eat my tea, or on Mumsnet!!!

Redtartanlass · 05/12/2005 19:16

Hi all

Been a long time posting, just read thread (took ages to catch up).

Baby fine, ds2 turning into a monster, I think he has just realised that she's not going back

Not doing any Christmas shopping, going to go away for Christmas!!! Did a trial run last week flying to Scotland. How can 2 babies need so much in a case!!

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 05/12/2005 20:08

RTL... hope you are ok hun!

Things are settling down here, other than the fact Rebecca is doing nothing but feed at the moment.... 5oz every 2 hours this morning!

Just booked DH and Rebecca on flights to Scotland for the end of the month - he is taking her up to see his Gran so roll on 28th Dec!!!

FastasleepInAManger · 05/12/2005 22:36

No time to read posts, little monster not sleeping at night, breastpump is calling to me as I type... but we're the luckiest parents in the world! Smiles are the best thing ever, we just got a camcorder from my parents to record them all with and Sophia had her second and final kidney scan today and all is well

Hope everyone's colds disappear and that everyone and their munchkins are doing great xxx

Elf1981 · 06/12/2005 09:55

Had to take Evie to the hospital last night, her cough was terrible, she was struggling to breath, snotty nose, bringing up froth at the nose... it was heartbreaking to watch!
Two hours in the childs emergency department at the hospital while they debated whether to admit her or not. She has (forgive my spelling) bronchiolitis. They decided that she was well enough to go home, so we got home around three last night. Its hearbreaking to see her struggling. The docs said she may get worse before getting better but to take her back to hospital if she goes off her feeds because then they hospitalise them.
Told DH we're having our next baby born in April so that when the flu season etc starts, they'll be a little bit older.

Elf1981 · 06/12/2005 09:55

Doh, you can tell I've not had a lot of sleep - not froth at the nose, froth at the mouth!

Redtartanlass · 06/12/2005 11:06

Awww poor wee Evie, hope she feels better soon

FastasleepInAManger · 06/12/2005 11:17

Aww poor baby I had that when I was a baby, my mum still remembers it! Get well soon Evie!

Elf1981 · 07/12/2005 17:12

oooh, quiet!
Xmas shopping nearly done (love the internet, my neighbour down the street is probably getting peed off though with all the deliveries initially going to her as our address is a bit misleading!)
Evie better today, not great but not as bad as she was. Hopefully have turned the corner!

YOKEFLEET · 07/12/2005 19:25

Elf - good to hear that Evie is doing a bit better.
Thomas has been un-settled today and quite sicky, think he was just missing his dad as since DH arrived home Thomas has been all smiles and giggles (oh I do love the giggles!!!)

Piggiesmum · 07/12/2005 20:23

Aww . I hope Evie and Thomas get well soon.

SusiS · 07/12/2005 22:04

glad that evie is doing better.
and hopefully thomas was feeling better once daddy was home

had our hipscan today and everything's fine!
was quite straight forward really and caitlin didn't scream a bit.

on a different note she was quite unsettled the last few days, so not like her!
and we think that she started teething
red cheeks and wouldn't settle for anything; untill i rub some gel on her gums

Redtartanlass · 07/12/2005 22:33

SusisS - good news about the scan

What age do the giggles start...can't wait, we get big grins and a kinda snuffling sound, but nogiggles yet!

Papillon · 08/12/2005 07:09

Greetings All

I am popping in to share a thread that is running about slings. How to use slings, types of slings and peoples stories.

HERE

Come have a read if your interested.

All the best

YOKEFLEET · 08/12/2005 09:34

Thanks for the good wishes - Thomas seems alot better this morning, must just have been missing his daddy (or it might have been abit of constipation!)
RTL - Thomas started giggling last Thurday when he was 8+1/2 weeks, it is just the best sound!!!!
susiss - great news about the scan. We gave Thomas a cooled teething ring last week (he couldn't even fit it in his mouth!) he is frothing alot at the mouth, is that a sign? we don't have the red cheeks yet.

Elf1981 · 08/12/2005 10:57

I cant tell if Evie is teething yet, I thought she was but with being poorly anyway it's hard to work out what is due to the illness and whats due to potential teething. We have the frothy mouth, red cheeks and grabbing the ears. But then we also have the cough, sore throat and runny nose, so it's hard to say what's wrong exactly!! Bless her.
Going to do the final lot of Xmas shopping today, just got to get something from Evie for DH (photoframe I've seen, saying me and my daddy) and then the odd B/day pressies that happen in Dec and I'm done!!!!! Just got to wrap the bleeding things now.

Redtartanlass · 08/12/2005 11:22

Oh glad Thomas is better [glad] but poor wee Evie she is suffering wee soul eh?

Dp's birthday today but we're so tired we ended up snapping at each other

DS1's birthday next week. Every year I can never get a decent b/card because of Xmas cards and every year I think "Oh I'll get the card in Nov" but I never do.

Oh well....can't wait to get away on holiday

mummygow · 08/12/2005 13:33

Hi everyone have not read any messages but I cant wait to find out as time goes on what you all had. I havent been on since June (my gran died and then I developrd polyhydromnosis and I just couldnt get into anything) but I had a little (well actualy quite big) baby boy on the 25th October - a week early (oh thats right I would have been on the november ante-natel) but never mind I'm sure there is more than just me who went early.

Why am I back, well one word - HELP

YOKEFLEET · 08/12/2005 13:37

Thanks RTL - I know what u mean about the snapping! We have hardly slept in the same bed since TJ was 3 weeks old, as dh works long hours and has just over an hours drive to and from work he wasn't getting enough sleep and I was worried about his safety. So I've had Thomas in the spare room and dh comes in with us on a fri/sat night when he doesn't have to get up early in the morning. However this started when he was feeding every two hours, for the last couple of days he has only taken one feed at about 3am, so I suggested to dh that he stopped with us last night which he did, well at 3.30 Thomas was awake and gurgling but was content so I didn't pick him up, well at 3.45 dh snapped and said "are you awake?" I said yes, he said "aren't you going to look after our son then?" (Thomas was still just gurgling at this point) so I snapped back (whispering) with "if you don't think I am looking after him properly then you do it!" Six minutes later Thomas started crying for his feed - DH said he was sorry this morning but I must admit that I still feel a bit annoyed with him.

Redtartanlass · 08/12/2005 13:38

Hi mummygow - sorry to hear about you rprobs No what you mean about...help eek.

Mind you it seems to be getting easier..dd will now sit in her bouncy chair for about 10 mins before crying....instead of constantly having to be cuddled.

YOKEFLEET · 08/12/2005 13:41

God I sound like a right cow don't I!!! Please ignore.

Mummygow - What help do you need? How big was your little or not so little boy? My little one is called Thomas, he was born on the 3rd and was 1 day late, weighing in at 7lb 15oz now weighs 13lb!
