....thought i'd better start a thread as there are currently 4 of us, with several more to follow!

Joey is now 4 days old (where did the time go?!?), and is doing really well. He actually managed to sleep through with just one feed last night, though i must confess i cheated and had him in bed with me (at my MW's recommendation!) as he was so fretful the night before.

Looking forward in the coming days and weeks to welcoming the other members of the Oct 05 antenatal group to this post-natal club, so i won't feel like Billy No-Mates, talking to myself

Ahh damn, I was getting all excited about the idea of chocolate then!!

Morning all, Last night Thomas slept from 10pm until 2.40am so I managed 4.5hrs un-broken sleep for the first time since I was 5 months pregnant!! god I feel good this morning!!
We are travelling back to Yorkshire for a long weekend tonight to show Thomas off to all our families (we moved to Wales when I was 34w pg) It's only our parents and my sis that have seen Thomas so far so we are in for a busy few days. I am also going to take him into where I used to work, it's odd I feel really nervous about going back into work. I have arranged to get my hair re-styled on Sat morning, I feel the need to look different, to look like I have moved on, I know I have moved on really (264miles South to be exact)
Oh ignore me I am warbling on.......

mrow · 16/11/2005 09:22

Your correct Triceratops, I meant two weeks..feels like longer though probably due to sleep deprivation. I did however get a full 7 hours sleep last night as husband took baby to give me a night off. Feel guilty now as he's gone off to work looking exhausted but I do feel a lot more human!
Heidi is now asleep on a rug on the floor?? She prefers the floor to her moses basket? Is this normal I wonder!!

YOKEFLEET · 16/11/2005 10:01

mrow - This last week I have taken my 6w old son out off his moses basket as he wasn't settling in it, as soon as we put him down in it he would wave his arms/legs about bashing the sides which then always woke him up! Thomas always sleeps better with more room either on my bed, the floor or his travel cot.

how did that happen????

ruthiemum · 16/11/2005 10:57

my ds1 always like sleeping on the floor on his playmat, he was just content to close his eyes and fall asleep and still does sleep in peculiar places even now. My 6 week old ds prefers sleeping in comfort though, usually with me on the bed with a pillow but don't tell the health visitor! I don't know since DS2 has arrived, my day consists of changing nappies, feeding them, trying to get them to sleep and cleaning oh and me trying to get to sleep as well, someone show me the tunnel and a light

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 16/11/2005 11:13

RM - when u find that light, shine it my way! Seriously not coping too well here - Jess is being so naughty and Rebecca has a cold and is refusing to sleep - GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

ruthiemum · 16/11/2005 12:58

JARM - I asked my mum whether it gets better with two, she just laughed. S'ppse you just get used to the tiredness and enjoy the good bits.

Both have had two colds in the last four weeks so it has been quite draining when they are both ill but hey ho. DS1 at pre school now so going to try and catch up on some zeds with baby on the sofa! another

nervousmum · 16/11/2005 16:25

so much for the breastfeeding theory. My period returned with a vengeance this morning

I am missing you all! Just can't seem to find time to post these days. Hope to get more sorted soon...

hester xx

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 16/11/2005 19:09

Im not here half as much as i want to be either Hester!

Got nasal drops for Rebecca from the docs today, so hoping that will help, and we are puttingher in her cot in her own room tonight to see if she will let us sleep a bit more - ha bloody ha!

morningpaper · 16/11/2005 20:27

Oooh I am FAR too lazy to even THINK about the cot. It's so much easier to stick her under the duvet with me and sleep in a milky puddle all night - I'm crap I know! At the moment the cot is by my bed and I only seem to use it to put my glasses and book in at night.

Colicky baby here - SCREAMING for ages at a time and then sleeping for ten minutes and then SCREAMING again. It's so draining!!!!

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 16/11/2005 20:31

MP - mainly doing the cot thing because its easier to prop one end of a cot matress up so Becky can breathe rather than even attempt to prop up one end of the moses basket!

morningpaper · 16/11/2005 20:33

I've got a feather pillow I've been propping mine on when she's especially snotty...

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 16/11/2005 20:40

what else can i do for her? She is so snuffly its breaking my heart..... saline drops are doing not a lot.....

morningpaper · 16/11/2005 20:49

Don't know - with dd1 I would sleep her in her car seat in her cot because it kept her v. upright. Have you tried that?

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 16/11/2005 20:51

good plan..... if she doesnt settle in the cot tonight, will try the car seat... will put it upstairs now! THank you xxx

BigBumpBonnie · 17/11/2005 11:01

colicky baby here too! She naps for about ten minutes at a time all through the day. At night it's about two hours sleep at a time at the moment. It is really hard work and I do feel exhausted most of the time. I forked out for the b free bottles which are supposed to take the air out of the milk and give you a settled baby...well they don't bloody work!

Oh well, after three months things are supposed to improve.

J&RM, when ruby was really snuffly I hung a cloth with snuffle babe on it near where she sleeps. (it's like vicks but meant for babies. You can rub it on their chests but not until they're three months old). It seemed to help her. Doc told me to sit in the bathroom with her when it was all steamed up as well as that helps to clear their noses. HTH

tiggyhop · 17/11/2005 11:06

Kate has had a terrible cold, I bathed her in the bathroom with the shower on full and got the room really steamy which seemed to help.

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 17/11/2005 11:32

did the steam thing this morning - enabled her to have 10 mins sleep! just back from docs - stinking head cold. got eye drops as well as the saline drops but this little madam hasnt slept all night and thats no exageration!

Lexie100 · 17/11/2005 12:11

Hi all. Think i have the baby from hell. Am breast feeding every 1.5 hours nearly 24 hours but she will go 3 once during the night. Then she wont sleep during the day unless she is attached to me. I'm soooo tired it's untrue.

Elf1981 · 17/11/2005 13:27

Sorry to hear about those whose babies have colic or colds or instatiable appitites. Must be awful, hope it eases up for you soon.
We at one point was panicking that Evie was going to develop colic, as she'd scream for about an hour nonstop at night, break for a bit and feed then scream. I've noticed a big change in her now that I feed her lying down (not sure why it makes a difference) and she seems quite content at the moment. I am thanking the lucky stars and keeping my fingers crossed though, as she may decide I've had it too good for too long!!
