....thought i'd better start a thread as there are currently 4 of us, with several more to follow!

Joey is now 4 days old (where did the time go?!?), and is doing really well. He actually managed to sleep through with just one feed last night, though i must confess i cheated and had him in bed with me (at my MW's recommendation!) as he was so fretful the night before.

Looking forward in the coming days and weeks to welcoming the other members of the Oct 05 antenatal group to this post-natal club, so i won't feel like Billy No-Mates, talking to myself

MP - Keep them, you never know!
I put Thomas's newborn sleepsuits away on Wednesday and i couldn't believe just how much he had grown and how quickly! I had my 6 week check this morning and all was ok and as I hadn't needed stitches there was no need for an internal examination!
Hope everyone has a good weekend, I love the weekend as my dh gets to spend time with our son (plus he takes Thomas out of the bedroom at about 8am and leaves me there to have as long a lay in as I want...bliss)

BigBumpBonnie · 11/11/2005 15:41

I'm def getting rid of my baby clothes. Ruby was the last and i'm talking dh into taking action to ensure I don't get pregnant again

Ruby's got a cold at the moment and is really snuffly. There's nothing I can give her but I feel really sorry for her. On the whole she's sleeping a bit better at night, she still wakes for a feed at about 2.30 then again at about 5.30am but goes back to sleep afterwards quite quickly. Dh has been great and is doing the night feeds when he's not working so I get some decent rest.

Know what you mean about the washing. I thought I had lots before but the machine is constantly full of sicky blankets and baby gros. There always seems so much to do and when I do get some rest dd1 wants attention.

Feel bad moaning cos I really couldn't be happier

nervousmum · 11/11/2005 15:49

Thanks for the positive recommendations for The Baby Whisperer - i've duly ordered a copy from Amazon.

I'm sure they did a brain swap during my c-section: pre-pregnancy i lusted after the likes of Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt. Post-pregnancy, i seem to have developed a strange crush on the likes of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (dodgy chef who cooks and eats road kill!) and the bloke who played Wolfie in Citizen Smith (NB. I'm 25!!!). Anyone else suffering the same affliction, or am i alone in my oddity?

I did it I did it I got on a bus (well two, there and back 40 minutes each way) with a huuuge backpack, Sophia in a sling, Theo under one arm and a buggy folded in the other... I did it!

Big moan though, on the walk back to the bus stop (20 minute walk!) it rained then it poured then it haled and it soaked me and Sophia through and through, and then the bus took 40 minutes coming as we stood there dripping and sneezing and then when I dragged my whole family and what seemed like the house as well onto the bus guess what? My period went and started! Thankyou God. Lol!

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 11/11/2005 17:04

aww hun.... tomorrow can only get better.... but you went out! WELL DONE YOU!

Im still a bit of a house hermit to be honest, enjoying the slobbing around not getting dressed malarky too much!

fastasleep · 11/11/2005 17:05

wilts like a soggy flower DH won't be back till like 8! Oh whyyyyyy... slobbing is sooo nice, you just keep it up for as long as possible... I think I've been out too much! But before I had DH to help or it was just to the park or the shop... I'm going to be a slob all weekend!

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 11/11/2005 17:09

good girl... you do that!

the closest ive got is toddlers twice in 2.5 weeks and town once and thats WITH dh!

Oh well, he is FINALLY back to work next thursday so will see how i feel then!

Elf1981 · 12/11/2005 09:30

OW OW OW OW OW OW OW
Wore my jeans the other day and felt fine, but I think that the extra pressure rather than my loose trousers is the reason that my tummy now hurts again.
Owwwwwww!

fastasleep · 12/11/2005 12:59

Oh yeah I had that last time Elf! Wore my jeans for a whole day and it was fine but the next day my whole wasitline was really sore... I think it might be something to do with the bones still moving around...

Elf1981 · 14/11/2005 09:03

At least I'm not dying then. Pain has eased now but effing hurt like mad the first few days. Topped off with blisters on both ankles, I was not a happy bunny.

Got to go to a funeral today. It's DH's stepmums dad. He was very nice. Me and Evie aren't going to the service or cremetoriom (terrible sp) as Evie's got into a little routine now and tends to feed until 12:00 then sleep til 3:30/ 4:00 and I dont really think it's fair to change it when it is working so well for me. The service starts at 11:30 which is when Evie usually starts her half hour feed fest before falling asleep.

morningpaper · 14/11/2005 09:16

Very quiet here!

Baby is starting to make vocal noises - aaaah it's SOO cute! I just melt.

Hope your day goes okay Elf.

triceratops · 14/11/2005 09:51

dh has started tryibg to get romantic already. aghhhhhh! I am not sore or anything but it hasn't been three weeks yet and the whole area is mentally out of bounds still.

When I am breast feeding the whole sex thing becomes a bit of a chore tbh, I wish dh didn't look so hurt when I turn him down.

Hi, sorry to join in so late and only just qualifying for October post natal conversation, as baby Heidi was finally born 11 days late at 1 minute to eleven Haloween night! Despite my diminutive size Heidi was 7 pounds and 14 ounces! Delivered by C section after unsuccesfull labour, that never really progressed! She is now 3 weeks old and weighs over 8 pounds. She has taken to breastfeeding very well thankfully. Had a good night with her last night and she only woke up once! Don't expect this to last however! Anyway Congrats to all the other October mums also!

BigBumpBonnie · 14/11/2005 12:22

Ruby seems to be getting into a bit of a routine as well. She sleeps quite well in the afternoons (which is great as my toddler still has a long afternoon nap) and I'm thinking of starting to get her off to bed in the evenings. I'm putting her in the cot in our bedroom from tonight onwards (up until now she's been in her moses basket with us until we go to bed) and am going to put her up at a reasonable hour with the monitors on. I did this with dd1 from about now and she's been a fantastic sleeper so I hope Ruby follows suit. I'm looking forward to getting her into the cot so I can use the mobile and light show as in the moses basket we can't use any of that.

Mp, know what you mean about those vocal noises. We've had a few coos here and some fantastic smiles. Ruby always seems to go cross eyed when she smiles, which is sweet but hopefully something she'll grow out of! She has got really bad skin though and it's quite spotty and very dry. dd1 didn't suffer with bad skin, does anyone know if this is normal and something she'll grow out of?

Here's wishing for some good weather this week so we can all get out for walks with our little ones

morningpaper · 14/11/2005 15:43

Mine's spotty too - looks like a teenager. This is normal - happened with my dd - normal reaction to coming out of the womb environment apparently, settled down after a couple of weeks.

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 14/11/2005 16:44

My word you lot have been chatty today!

at you all with routines! Doubt ill have any sort of routine before the new year - what with DH being home with his knee at the moment and then away for 3 weeks in december when ill be staying at my dads, and then DH is off for xmas leave. ALL I WANT IS NORMALITY!

Took both girls to toddlers this morning and DH has watched them both this afternoon while i had a kip - Rebecca has decided its party time every night between 2 and 4am! PLEASE tell me this will stop SOON!

Oh, and my DH is trying to get romantic too! Ok, so it was only 2.5 weeks after Jess was born that we were at it, but this time round it just isnt happening!

Other than the fact im shattered, im still bleeding slightly and the though of the mess - ewww! Oh and the fact we havent sorted contraception yet - ive told him he either takes a trip to the chemist or wait until i have my 6 week check and get myself protected!

Elf1981 · 15/11/2005 09:08

Well, Evie's routine was well out the window yesterday. Went to the wake at 12:30, Evie was asleep when we got there and the routine she's had for the past two weeks is to sleep from 12:00 until 3:30 minimum. However, once we got there, she was picked up, which usually she stays asleep for, but she was wide awake. In total she had about one hours sleep (including the odd five minutes). Got her home and she wouldn't settle. Fed her at 8:30 and she slept from 9:00 until 6:00! Think she would have slept longer but I heard her stirring in the Moses basket so picked her up for a feed, but only because my boobs were pratically pulsating!

Spotty skin - poor Evie looks like she's thirteen with her breakout! Luckily seems to be dying down now. As for dry skin, our HV told us only to use olive oil. Tried it but the skin around her wrists and ankles stayed dry for quite a while. Lot better now though.

And as for sex... me and Dh tried Sunday night, had to stop as it was hurting (surprised me seeing as I had a C-section!). Tried again last night with more sucess. Think now the first time is out the way, it might get easier. Or at least that's how I'm consolling myself!!

triceratops · 15/11/2005 15:04

I have been using my lanisoh on dds dry skin, it leaves her a bit greasy but seems to do the trick wonderfully. A bit expensive though.

I have a spotty little thing too. and she is bulemic I swear. She just guzzles, pukes it all up and then guzzles again.

triceratops · 15/11/2005 15:06

Welcome to the board mrow. How did you manage to fit three weeks between halloween and today? Timewarp due to sleeplessness I dare say.

mawbroon · 15/11/2005 16:07

hello everyone. i wasn't going to get sucked back into mumsnetting, but now that i am feeling much better after my section, i have been feeding Johnny whilst lurking rather than having to sit with feet up and a million cushions!

We are both doing well. Johnny regained his birthweight a few days ago and we seem to have got the breastfeeding sussed. I am feeling almost back to normal but have to be careful not to overdo it as I am only half way through my six week recovery period.

He also has the spots and dry skin. My midwife told me to use breast milk on his skin as it is full of fat and protein etc. It works like magic, but I also use olive oil all over after his twice weekly bath as I would take forever to get enough milk out to cover his body!!

Elf - I had the same surprise about "it" hurting despite having had a section. I expected everything down there to be the same as it was pre baby, but evidently not! I've gone onto the mini pill for now. I wanted a coil, but because I have a distorted uterus, I am deemed unsuitable. Looks as though I will have to go down the hormonal route after all which I was trying to avoid. Oh well, can't have it all...

sorry for long post
MB

Elf1981 · 15/11/2005 18:42

I think I'm going on the mini pill as well when I go for my six week check which is on Thursday. Have been using condoms. Think I am going to have to perservere to try to get sex feeling a little less painful. Last night I felt like my pelvis was ripping in half

Evie is feeding like a maniac today. Just finished feeding her, shes been asleep for two minutes and now she is chomping again!! Must go feed her before we go out to FIL's house.

morningpaper · 15/11/2005 19:30

Gosh ladies give yourselves a break! There's no reason to rush the full-on business side of things - your body can be bruised and battered for WEEKS - it was 18 months before we managed to do the business without it hurting me last time. The Doctor said this was 'quite normal'. Great.

I'd recommend being a little more imaginative in finding ways to ... ahem... get alittle pleasure into your lives (NOT referring to chocolate here).
