....thought i'd better start a thread as there are currently 4 of us, with several more to follow!

Joey is now 4 days old (where did the time go?!?), and is doing really well. He actually managed to sleep through with just one feed last night, though i must confess i cheated and had him in bed with me (at my MW's recommendation!) as he was so fretful the night before.

Looking forward in the coming days and weeks to welcoming the other members of the Oct 05 antenatal group to this post-natal club, so i won't feel like Billy No-Mates, talking to myself

Nice to know taht others are going through the same things....tired and dealing with a 3 yr old too...massive shock to my system...look like a beddraggled witch most days as DD and DS don't give me a chance to make myself presentable...must get easier SOON??????

morningpaper · 09/11/2005 19:09

Am also bedraggled witch - when I get a second to look in the mirror I am HORRIFIED - eyebrows and hair everywhere. Legs like a gibbon. And still FAT. And covered in sick and stinking of milk.

Yes I am also EXHAUSTED from lack of sleep - with a toddler who doesn't nap anymore there is no way of catching up when baby is crabby until midnight.

Today was first day on our own though and baby slept all day so it was fine and we had a lovely day.

Piggiesmum · 09/11/2005 20:15

"And covered in sick and stinking of milk"

MP - i know it will be little consolation but.....you are not alone

I also think "covered in milk and stinking of sick" could also apply.

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 09/11/2005 20:17

another witch here!

Im full of cold
Jess has chicken pox
DH still cant get about much because of the op on his knee
Becky a little minx who likes to party at night

All fun and games! This WILL get easier wont it??? The way i feel right now im gonna sell all 3 of them on ebay!!! (Only joking - i promise - please dont call SS!)

Elf1981 · 10/11/2005 09:27

J&RM - sorry to hear about the chickenpox. How's Rebecca, is she showing any signs?

Elf1981 · 10/11/2005 09:29

Morningpaper - covered in sick... lay Evie on my chest the other night and she projectiled all over me. Yuk. it was in my hair & everything. I thought I'd have a bath, but once I'd wiped it off me and her, I thought stuff it and went to sleep with sicky hair.
As for covered in milk, I swear, if I walked around with no top on all day (would save me washing when I've leaked down them) I could do a Hansel and Gretal trail around the house!

Jockey · 10/11/2005 11:49

Well, every time I try to post on here, baby pipes up. I could probably join you all with the covered in milk/sicky thing. Washing machine is permanently going, and I've fallen asleep in a terrible mess but I'm so knackered I don't care.

Hope everyone gets better very soon. I'm sure things get better but I can't remember exactly when!

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 10/11/2005 11:50

luckily no, Rebecca seems fine - still has my immunity i guess.

roll on bed time!!!

fastasleep · 10/11/2005 12:42

Also look like a witch! Also getting no sleep! Also coherant sentences no

but apart from that we're doing quite well! Expressing is being easier than last time for the moment, I'm not leaking in between mwahaha! Sophia already did her first smile, and lots more afterwards - she was only 5 days old actually and I thought it was wind but HV saw and said it was a social smile... DS was 8 weeks before he smiled! I fit all my clothes which is lovely... except for my jordan boobs anyway... I'm daring the bus for the first time tomorrow with no double buggy - argh!

As for weight in 5 weeks Sophia jumped up a centile and went from 6.6 starting weight to 8.7 which is great for a baby on breadmilk - yay! Breadmilk?! Can you tell I'm befuddlingly thinking of maybe going to the shop lol

Hope everyone who's feeling yucky feels better soon!

morningpaper · 10/11/2005 12:47

Heheh I'm befuddled too - phone rang and I answered it - wanted to say "Hello, speaking" and I forgot my name!

fastasleep · 10/11/2005 12:53

Glad I'm not the only one doing things like that!

YOKEFLEET · 10/11/2005 16:57

J&RM - hope your little one is feeling better.

I feel half human this afternoon, Thomas slept better last night only feeding at 12, 3 and 5.30 and actually going back to sleep after the feeds which is unusual as he normally doesn't settle for at least 1.5hrs after the early morning feed...bliss
My parents have come this afternoon to give me a bit of a break, dad came and cooked lunch whilst I had a long hot shower (nice not to smell of baby sick once in a while!) and mum looked after Thomas
I have my 6 week check tomorrow, can anyone tell me what to expect?

triceratops · 10/11/2005 17:27

Can I just whisper "It is great having a nanny" and then run away?

Kate arrives at 8.30 and washes, dresses and feeds ds and takes him to preschool while I feed dd in bed. Then when she gets back she takes dd for a walk in her pram while I get a bath and sort myself out. She looks after dd while I get a couple of hours of work done in the mornings and does the ironing while I bf. Then she collects ds from preschool feeds him and plays with him all afternoon allowing me to devote myself to new baby and maybe have a nap. It is costing me £2300 for six weeks but I think it is worth every penny. Much more necessary than any holiday.

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 10/11/2005 17:38

trice.......

YOKEFLEET · 10/11/2005 18:11

Trice - sounds fab v.

fastasleep · 10/11/2005 19:17

Trice!! Don't say things like that in front of post natal sleep deprived women!! Is it hard to not jump in and play in the afternoons? I'd find that really impossible!

Redtartanlass · 10/11/2005 19:43

wow great idea trice.....wish i'd though of that!!! just booked holiday for christmas in egypt, wouldrather have nanny!!!!

can someone please give me suggestions how i have a shower during the day!! with 20 month toddler and 3 week old baby!! it's hard enough just going for a wee!!

morningpaper · 10/11/2005 19:54

RTL how did you shower before? What did toddler do? I put toddler in her room to play - but she is happy to do this and doesn't stick forks in sockets or anything - and lie baby naked on bathroom floor with a toy she likes to look at - she likes that. Both happy while I shower and get ready. If baby starts fussing then I shout for toddler to come and entertain her.

That's why having a three year gap is GREAT!

Trice you are OUTRAGEOUS!

morningpaper · 10/11/2005 19:55

I am actually on here now while the 3-year-old is lying in my bed stroking the baby's head and doing dummy-replacing.

And she is cheaper than the nanny...

Redtartanlass · 10/11/2005 21:43

morningpaper, before ds1 I was working full-time and I was an organised, articulate, adult member of the human race and it took me 3/4 hour to get ds2 up and fed, myself up and showered (with ds2 eating breakfast in high chair by the bathroom door), check my diary for the days apppointmnet, get a route map etc etc et and still b at work for 9am.

Now I am a quivering wreck how takes nearly 2 hours to get ready for a trip to the shops!!! And hads the baldder control of I don't know what, because a trip to the loo seems like a trek to the Himalayas!!

omg what a rant...sorry

morningpaper · 11/11/2005 10:59

RTL

Baby up until 12.30 last night - GAAAAAAh was soooo tired. But then slept for 4 hours so that was marvellous.

Can't decide whether to throw out the sleepsuits that she is growing out of, or whether to put them back in the loft... I really want another one after this but DH is not so sure!

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 11/11/2005 11:31

KEEP THEM!!!

I dont intend giving away ANY of my unisex stuff really.... you never know what could happen a few years down the line!

Took Jessica to doctors this morning - its NOT chicken pox after all.... just a virus she is trying to get out of her system..... we shall see!

triceratops · 11/11/2005 12:42

I got loads of work done this morning - although I hope it is up to quality as I have had very little sleep.

I have a bouncy chair in the bathroom so that I can keep an eye on the baby and make sure she doesn't get attacked by her big bro.

triceratops · 11/11/2005 12:44

I will be giving all dds outgrown clothes back to SIL as that is where they all came from. She is seriously broody at the moment and popping round for a cuddle of dd nearly every day. I don't think BIL stands a chance of keeping dn as an only child

Jockey · 11/11/2005 12:45

Morningpaper - if not sure, definitely put them back in the loft! You might be glad of it all one day... you could remind your dh how much fun it is "trying".

I've got enough clothes for triplets in the attic! I'm about to go up there for the next size and hopefully won't get stuck this time, like I did on the day I went into labour . Should be easier bump free.
