Lovinv Melks pics on FB- Thea and Ella are beautiful- Did u have a good time on the slide too:)

Shroomer · 20/03/2011 21:19

Flip Yes - I've had an ERPC for a MC, then a CS. Then retained placenta after the MC, so another ERPC. Lost 3 times the amount of blood I 'should' have during CS - all of these are big risk factors for Asperger's.

SarahandCo Shock at your FIL. I'm not sure I'd forgive mine! We're thinking of a getting a small rug for the bottom of the stairs (just in case the worst happens).

Went to Ikea today in search of a chest to put DS' toys in, and came away with nothing.

Arcadie · 21/03/2011 20:49

Shroomer I've spent the whole day feeling sad for you that your LO has Aspergers and confused how you'd know so soon.... then I realised you might have meant the Asherman's Syndrome you posted about. Wink Hope that's not the case for you - but equally hope that a medical pro might be able to help if it is Ashermans.

Arcadie oh pants. Sorry! I meant Asherman's for me. My LO hasn't got Asperger's. Doh. What a typo to make.

Thread name - something about them being 1 year old, or toddler-dom. Dunno - nothing witty forthcoming from my brain.

MummyElk · 22/03/2011 19:32

FLIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grin
GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!! sooooo pleased for you.
As you can see i'm not getting very far in reading back

New thread title:
'We are 1 - the world is our oyster'
'Who says you have to learn to walk before you can run??'
'Toddling, eating grown-up food, chatting and exploring the world'

Gawd, I am lame Blush!!

I do love you all, though, and I hate this appraisal (wish me luck next Tuesday - I'll need it

Smile
FlipFantasia · 22/03/2011 22:23

Hmm new thread name [scratches head ineffectually]. Like the idea of something about toddling or the second year. Actually quite like the world is our oyster one from PD [waves at PD and wishes her luck for next Tuesday]

Shroomer I hope that whatever you have gets diagnosed quickly and treated appropriately. Have you been to your GP yet? (I checked out that thread in Conception btw - that woman is like a one-woman Ashermans expert! I admire the way she's raising the profile of this little known problem).

Melk thanks Grin. Loved the FB pics - looks like T's first birthday was fun!

Dal also hope that Miles' birthday was fun!

Pixie also hope the big party was fun!

Happy birthday to Dizzi's little one for tomorrow!

Hope all other mums and babies toddlers are doing well. Things all good with me. Am 5+5 so still very much counting the days (god, had forgotten how looooong the first trimester is!). We've booked an early scan for next week at 7+1. I'm also back at work on Monday, so am trying to savour my last days off!

slimmingsarahandco · 23/03/2011 10:50

happy birthday to dizzy's lo! hope ur having a great day !

Flip enjoy your days off till the return to work on monday- bet u cant wait for you scan !

All good here, not much to add! erm thread title! ....... erm.......erm....... no idea!

angfirsttimer · 23/03/2011 11:01

Think it's been done before but

"where has the last year gone? our little ones are turning one"

Or

"as they enter their second year, tears, tantrums and trouble await - oh dear!"

MandaHugNKiss · 23/03/2011 12:19

Apologies for my uselessness in posting lately, I've succumbed to two bouts of flu awful cold thing since the last lot; I dunno, maybe it's the same thing that keeps improving then getting worse, but today my throat is scratchy/sore, my nose hurts at the top (guessing sinuses) and feel generally very blah and headachey. Even the sunshine outside can't motivate me off the sofa :( In good news though, my nausea has completely abated which is fab (if not sending me into paroxysms of worry that the virus/thing I've got/had has done something sinister. Doesn't help I keep spotting - but it is mostly after sex so I'm blaming engorged cervix/possible erosion At least only 6 days until my private 16+1 scan where we hope to find out the flavour of this babe)

Anyone else's LO's dancing? J been busting some groovy moves every time he hears music and it's the cutest thing ever. PLus I have NO IDEA where he gets his 'Dad Dancing' from because he's never seen any...that I know of. Maybe on the rare occasions that DH has him alone for a couple of hours in the morning whilst I'm in a coma sleeping, he's been secretly teaching him? Or, God, is it really inherent? Oh, and he CLIMBS. Like an evil genius (pulled his activity table over to the sofa in order to scramble onto it and STAND on the sofa... Frequently climbs on the tv unit through sheer willpower/strength/hoisting himself (or he has power of levitation I haven't witnessed yet) and yesterday I thought he was playing in his toy box at the back of the sofa but then he joined me via climbing over the back of the sofa (using the toy box as a steppng stone). He could not be more of a boy if he tried. Help. Are straight jackets really a no-no? Grin

Belated birthday wishes to all I missed, so sorry.

Well, better eat something. I'll try and lurk post more!

Oh Pixie, bless you for stamping all those envelopes. Can you enlist the help of the DCs? Maybe not the twins Wink, but the older ones?

I need some advice, dear MMMs. About food. I've only just managed to get Isobel onto stage 2 jars (for 7+mo) in the past few weeks, and it was such a relief to see her eating something other than purees (she does eat finger foods, but I mainly spoon-feed her). It was going well, and after a week or so she was almost finishing a whole jar. But it's gone downhill; she started spitting her food out after half a jar, and would only continue if I distracted her with something else (a toy, or finger foods). But now she's only taking a spoonful or two and then spitting it out, and no amount of distraction is helping. I can't let her go hungry, and a few crisps and grapes and breadsticks isn't enough, surely? I'd love to just give her bits of what DH and I eat (and she does get to try things), but DH isn't home till 6.30pm which is too late.

Gah, sorry that's so long, but does anyone else have similar experience, or advice? I'm getting quite frustrated with it all.

Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine :)

DizziDoll · 23/03/2011 21:24

Thanks for the birthday wishes for my little Yasper. I have been lurking on my iphone on the way to work every day (usually when I am stuck on the M25) but every time I attempt to post something, the traffic moves. The powers of MN! Happy (belated) birthday to all the March (and some Feb) babes.

PD Good luck!!
Pixie HOW many?
Manda Sounds very familiar. I swear my DD never did anything like that. DS climbs onto the toilet and flushes it each time we are in the bathroom. It's a race between him and me an if he wins and the lid isn't closed, he gets wet! boys

scooby26 · 23/03/2011 22:38

Misspentouth-- when DS gets faffy with food I plonk him in his chair near the tv and put baby Einstein DVD on- don't know if you use them but they have hypnotic powers. DS then eats on autopilot whilst enjoying the tv- bad mother I know but if it gets him to eat when his teeth are sore etc..... It is the only time he gets the tv -- don't call social services!! All my DSIS boys had the same effect with the DVD....

Pingpong · 24/03/2011 00:21

shroomer hope you get some answers - haven't looked at Ashermans BTW is it fixable?
I'm back to the doc for my follow up appointment tomorrow and poor DD2 is getting her jabs. I went in last week and asked when she was due them as we have never had the appointments through the post like we had for DD1 and they said oh she was due them last week! I thought it was 13m for the next lot but no 12m seemingly.
MissPentueth I would give up on jars if she is not interested and concentrate on finger food. My DH is often not home for the girls tea time so we have a small repetoire of things I can russle up:
Try omelette cut into squares or strips - add cheese ham smoked salmon or whatever is handy.
Scrambled egg is also popular with my two served with grated cheese on top and toast fingers.
Penne pasta in many ways - spoonful of cream cheese and peas, pesto
or creme fraiche and smoked salmon bits
I make a pot of basic tomato sauce with vegetables and blend it and freeze it. I give that with penne as well sometimes with cream cheese mixed in.
DD2 is only just getting the hang of drinking cows milk - she has been a bit reluctant so far so we are trying to get lots of calcium into her diet with cheese, cream cheese, yogurts etc.
If I make a fish pie or shepherds pie for a family meal when DH is at home to eat with us then I'll keep some separate for a girls meal.
Spaghetti bolognese is also good - for baby G I cut the lengths down to smaller bits with some scissors once it is cooked. If I have made a pot of bolognaise for DH and I to eat later it is easy enough to cook a small pot of pasta for the girls earlier.
Pitta bread pizza - spread some tomato puree ( I love the Sacla sundried tomato one) and top with cheese and anything else you think she might like and pop under grill if you want to be quick or in the oven if you can be bothered. Cut into strips with scissors and allow to cool.
I've made jam tart sized mini quiches for them when I have been making pastry anyway or if I have a bit of leftover mince from shepherds pie they like mini cornish pasties.
Sweetcorn or courgette fritters are another quick eggy thing to make.
Some of the other MMM have been making savoury muffins but I haven't tried that myself.
The HV I saw last week was a stand in, not my normal one so she didn't know I was a BLW freak fan! She duly asked if DD2 was sharing normal family meals to which I replied yes she is and smiled sweetly as I couldn't be arsed explaining that she has always had finger food and wasn't given purees but I think at the 12m or 13m review it is something they will ask you about.
sorry that was a bit of a ramble.
I really came on to share my exciting news !!!!
No I am not pregnant thank goodness my excitement is due to the very natural end to breastfeeding. We stopped night feeds about a month ago? but as she was still not drinking much cows milk I felt I had to offer her booby in the day so 2-3 feeds a day. Yesterday was a very busy day, in and out the house constantly dropping DD1 off here there and everywhere and doing some business things too so by 7pm I realised that I hadn't given her any boobie all day so I thought well let's just not bother with the going to bed feed and see if she notices. Then this morning she woke at 6.15 so I pulled her into bed with me and she definitely associates snuggles in bed with boobie feeds so thought wouldn't get any peace but we had cuddles in bed til 7.30 and got up and I've managed another whole day without feeds. I am truly amazed. I haven't denied her as she hasn't shown any need to have them, my boobs feel fine, I know I could feed if I had to or she was distressed but all in all things are looking good. When I said to the HV last week that I would like to give up BF now she said 'oh well 12m is a very difficult age for them to give up' anyway straw cup with cold milk seems to be meeting with her approval so fingers crossed I can ditch the feeding bras for good and splash out on some nice new ones!
Right enough waffle -

MummyElk · 24/03/2011 08:45

missp second what smac says (except she's more creative than me Grin) and also there's no reason why she can't eat what you are eating. she just eats it the day after when you've reserved her a portion. Or she eats it when you make it and YOU eat it later. I find fay ripley's book really useful for ideas (because she's more creative than me too Smile)....
the other thing i've been doing with Thea is distracting her with finger food and then when she opens her mouth to put something in i shove a spoonful of puree in too... completely anti-blw stuff i know but she's just stubborn rubbish at eating. I'd have a go at giving her delicious different finger food stuff to try and see what she thinks. bound to be a mess but might trigger her to do it herself - she's an independent lady as we know!! Smile
If it makes you feel any better we are also having issues at the table. She has taken to making the most God-awful racket...whingeing, whining, shouting....distracting her with finger food sometimes work....and then when we get down the matter at hand, ie dinner, then we basically fight between her wanting to be fed/her wanting to feed herself (and me wincing at the mess)/to her wanting to just put the spoon in and out of the bowl. and in. and out. and in. yawn.... Meanwhile the dog has developed this aversion to certain foods, which means she'll lick up all the bits she LIKES and leave the bits she doesn't... most unobliging.
Headache for me today. Am trying bikram yoga. it's very hot and sweaty. and you have to drink gallons of water. but it's v good. PLUS terrible night, has anyone got any suggestions for why she's suddenly screaming the place down in the middle of the night???!! I wonder if it's teeth.....

oh god. sorry. turned into a MEmeeeeeee meeeeeeee post. sorry.

SiameseCatWoman · 24/03/2011 09:19

Hi Melk :) C is also having rotten nights recently (and still 5am get ups!) and I remembered the Wonder Weeks book. Sure enough there is a 'leap' at 55 weeks so they are feeling unsettled right now.

Smac end of Bf- I wish. This girl is so booby obsessed, I don't feed during the day anymore but if she sees boobies at swimming or if I'm getting dressed, she's there trying to latch on. I had stopped night feeding too, just first and last thing was left but with trying to get her to sleep, I've given in at 2am.. Does anyone have any tips for stopping? By bathtime, she's climbing into my clothes!

missp agree with Smac. Ditch the purée and try to give her what you have. Does she have much milk? You could try to hold back on that to make sure she's hungry?

manda climbing oh yes! Climbing chairs and tables and ironing towers basket. She's still not walking alone, despite standing at 20 wks, just finds crawling fast enough I think.

Sariska Grin at the swim nappy! DD carries her glow worm and a ladybird with her at all times, Inc bath, bed, nursery. They get washed and fed and dunked in cups of tea. I'm trying to take one away, as she has both hands full which makes it difficult for her to crawl or climb safely.

I had loads more but I've forgotten it. Bum

Oh yes, I own a Shred DVD. Let's see if I ever do it??

slimmingsarahandco · 24/03/2011 11:25

Hey all!

misspi also agree ditch the purees= Elliott eats whatever we are eating three times a day and generally will eat most things ! :) phew! he feeds himself and makes a complete mess but hey ho it cleans- last night we had sausage and bean casserole! he loved it! so glad i went to work to leave dh with the delightful job of bathing and claring up the kitchen- Our labrador is very much like urs melk- eats what he wants and leaves the rest for me to clean away! Hmm

Elliott had his jabs on thurs, final mmr and the phnemococal[sp]= he was fine but three- THREE needles he did cry! bless him, been fine since too just snotty again all 5 of us appear to be! :(

i think the thread title should have something about climbing- erm.....

if i cant go round it, i cant go under it,and i cant go through it i will just climb over it! - (sorry not very good am i! ha)

still shredding here! Get the cellophane off siamese! heehee its great!

Smac- WD on the reduced feeding, glad its all been a amoth stop for you both,

Dizzi- glad we give u a giggle on the way to work:)

manda glad to hear the Ms has stopped- hope ur cold and flu bugger off soon and leave you alone! ooohhhh exciting stuff hope u fond out the flavour and of course.... let us all know too !

pixie how on earth do you fit everything in? 200 envelopes to address and stamp! i think o would pay the DC's to do it! :)
How are you feeling? and DD2?

RKD- you ok lovely?

my goodness huge post ....

slimmingsarahandco · 24/03/2011 11:26

Smac- amoth should read a smooth! lol

Arcadie · 24/03/2011 12:23

Sarah Yes - all good - feeling like POooooooo today with a cold coming but otherwise great. You're a sweety for asking and sorry I didn't reply to your facebook message. It was appreciated and I have no excuse for not messageing back other than being a bit crap at remembering. Blush

OP posts:
MissPenteuth · 24/03/2011 12:52

Thanks for the replies and Smac thanks for all those food ideas, that's really helpful. For lunch Izzy is having some toast and cheese and some grapes, and maybe a yogurt. DH and I are having omelette for tea so I'll eat early with Isobel so that she can have some, and DH can have his when he gets home. Melk distracting Isobel with finger foods and then sneaking in a spoonful of food is totally what I've been doing too! Even that has stopped working now though. She does love to feed herself, so we'll stick with that. I'll have to start giving more thought to what DH and I are eating now though, rather than just stocking up on baby jars Blush

scooby I've not tried the Baby Einstein videos, but they sound interesting. How was Geneva?

Smac lovely to hear that DD2 has naturally stopped BFing, it must be a relief not to have to worry about when/how etc.

Melk is bikram yoga the one you do in a heated room? Sorry you had a bad night, fingers crossed it's just a teething-related blip.

Go on Siamese, dooo the Shreeedd . It's intense, but they show you how beginners can modify the moves, and the 20 mins passes quickly. I'd recommend watching it once just to see what the moves are. Arcadie are you still doing Davina (as it were)?

sarah sorry to hear you're all not well again, hope it passes soon. Isobel had her jabs the other week too; she was soo upset, but only for about 5 minutes, and no reactions so far.

Not long till the Birmingham MMMM now :)

slimmingsarahandco · 24/03/2011 13:15

RKD! you do not have to aplogise at all- just noticing your absence and wanted to make sure all is well! RL is manic with three isnt it!

SiameseCatWoman · 24/03/2011 13:16

I am sooooooooo excited about Birmingham, especially if this weather sticks around!
