Tricky one Pixie but I'm sure they'll all be thrilled once the (possible) shock wears off. Maybe wait till after the scan so at least you know how many brothers and/or sisters they'll be getting first though Xmas Wink

Bluey Isobel had conjunctivitis a few weeks ago; it cleared up here within a few days with antibiotic ointment, although poor Alex's sounds pretty severe. I don't know if this counts for conjunctivitis as well, but when Isobel had a stye the GP said to watch out for sudden severe swelling as it could be, iirc, periocular cellulitis. But I'm sure you don't need to worry about that if you've already had a GP look at it.

Well, the ILs made it. The weather is looking better later in the week (fingers crossed), so they decided to risk it. And with any luck it will still be fine for my parents driving down on Boxing Day. I'm quite exited about seeing everyone, and about Isobel's first Christmas Xmas Smile

hecklephone · 23/12/2010 10:07

Ok so our Christmas plans are officially a-changing. At this point we were supposed to be driving to cairnryan to get the ferry to NI but we decided that, what with the icy conditions here AND in NI, Robin's cold, my cold, DH's car randomly showing a warning light...well, we basically decided to stay put. I'm a bit Xmas Sad because I was looking forward to sharing R's first Christmas with my folks and my mum cooks the best Christmas dinner, but staying at home will be the easiest and safest option under the circumstances I guess.

Arcadie hope the raging hormones have settled down a bit today! I'm not looking forward to that again I have to admit, now the bf is finished...although I can't wait to go bra shopping!!

pixie I have no words of wisdom I'm afraid, but I'm sure you'll find the right way to tell them when the time comes. All the best for you and DD for tomorrow.

Ok, am off to organise a Dundee-based Christmas Xmas Smile

MerryElk · 23/12/2010 19:43

rkd - sympathies, my friend, and i DO WANT DETAILS of the arcadian annoyance.. are we talking not putting the teaspoons away in the right place or running up and Tangoing you for no reason?? (either deserves a good spanking IMHO)
heckle yay for a home christmas i have a fallback duck in the freezer which would do you quite nicely...shame bristol is quite so far from dundee.....Hmm
pixie i think it will all work itself out...It's a tricky one purely because of the timing, your LOs aren't quite so little that they won't think "oh hang on you knew this all christmas?" if you leave it till after festivities and yet it's their christmas too.... they sound like a very loving bunch. as long as you make them feel loved (and i'm sure they do every single day) then there's a way ahead. everything crossed for you... will be lurking to see how the scan goes.(i do know a couple locally to me who had two sets of twins under 15 months....Grin and they are QUITE sane) (one IVF, one 'they've told us we're infertile it'll never happen, bugger, it has')

pixie thinking of you today....p.s. you aren't related to apixieinmytea are you?! am completely thrown when i see another pixie about!! Hmm

Arcadie · 24/12/2010 10:06

What did Adam say the day before Christmas????

Hi all - Scan news Pixie!!! Too exciting!

Scooby Hurray for seeing you - have a wonderful Christmas.

Grumpy me 1) PMT 2) Insufficient sleep.
3) Feeling Sad for DH and Angry at DSIL for this comment:

"Yes MrArcadie, myself and your other two sisters are getting together with our families for a fun day 35 mins from where you live. No. (and I quote) YOU ARE NOT INVITED. THERE'S NOT ENOUGH ROOM" (subtext: enough room for you, your tired-out wife and your three children who are on average all 8 years younger than ours. You are a burden to our otherwise easy company.)

  1. Feeling a little Angry at a friend - (no not Cappuccino!) who is 37 weeks pg, whose 3yo son I have had to sleep over 3 or 4 times in the last couple of months, sharing a room with my 2 DCs, keeping them awake, waking them early and waking Simeon up too. It is, however, a pleasure to help her out. I do it because I love her and because I remember just how soul destroying this point in pregnancy is and would have DEARLY LOVED someone to look after either of my DCs for a night, let alone several. This week ( whilst her teacher DH is off work) she has arranged to come over to my house 2 afternoons to give DH a break from being cross about having to look after their DS. Both times she's stood me up , left us at home waiting and then texted or phoned at 4 or 6 to say "sorry not coming, and no we don't need you to have DS tonight but would tomorrow night be ok?"

I posted my first grrrrrrrr just after that text. I'm MUCH calmer now (not least because she and DH have, for the first time ever, taken my two DCs off for a playdate at the cinema) and feel good to have got it off my chest. Thanks for reading. If you've got this far. Sorry to have bored you if you have! Happy Christmas. Bahhhh

SiameseSnowCat · 24/12/2010 10:51

Ummm RKD 'merry Christmas eve, Eve?' .. That took some thinking through -not sure I'm ready to go back to work in march!
Sorry hear about your flaky friend RKD, I hope she realises what she's done to you.
pixie what news?
I don't have the energy to shout out more but a quick wave to Melk and Scooby

We are in Norfolk with my parents, we had to make a quick get away on Tuesday when we woke up and all the houses on our mains pipes had no water - frozen solid and the water co. weren't interested in helping at all. So we're over here where it is significantly warmer, but a little dull being stuck with nothing to do.

DD has turned into a crazy nightmare too, since last Wednesday, her seperation anxiety has gone right up off the scale and she seems permanently attached to me or screaming her head off. Last night she wouldn't sleep unless bf and my nipples are in shreds. I suspect she is teething too but she isnot much fun to be around at the moment, and I'm shattered.

However, ttsp right?

Merry Christmas 'thread ladies' as DH calls you ( makes me giggle as I imagine you all made of embroidery) I hope yours is peaceful x

Ps don't forget 'one born at Christmas' this evening :)

Arcadie · 24/12/2010 12:30

Siamese Grin well done you!!!!

OP posts:
MerryElk · 24/12/2010 14:16

i got it too!!! just didn't post in time Sad
my joke of the season is this (also posted on other threads so forgive me)
What did the inflatable headmaster say to the inflatable boy who brought a pin into inflatable school?
'you've let me down, you've let your school down, but most importantly...you've let yourself down'

(i feel like i've already posted this here - have i?? Hmm Hmm)
goes off to rock in a corner.
rkd will post more about your friend later - suffice to say [grr] and [grr]
