Marking my spot

Also in hairdressers - great minds think alike siamese

squiggleywiggler · 20/12/2010 15:57

I tried to shut the door but the builders have removed it. I've looked for the corkscrew but it's in a packing case.

Is it ok to sit in the car and quaff de-icer instead?

Also marking spot

SmacSmackedSanta · 20/12/2010 16:16

snaffles some FR but gives the old mince pies a body swerve.... too many raisins in the Christmas food - drives me wild!
In my long rambly post last night I totally forgot to shout out to evitas hope you made it to the wedding and that your results are good and sorry that you have to wait even longer.
squiggly I'm sure deicer is not good for you!

evitas · 20/12/2010 17:16

Hello from Portugal! We manageded it. The trip via Paris was exhausting but we survived it and we were on time for the wedding (I even went to the hair dresser). The wedding was at a village by the sea... very romantic.
Now we have so many relatives and friends to see.
DS is doing well, jumping from one person to another and being kissed by all of them :) sorry for not having time for individual shouts.
Merry Xmas!

PacificDogwood · 20/12/2010 21:32

Ha, I am at hairdresser's tomorrow Grin - totally agree with 'great minds' and all that...

Well, my mum did NOT make it home. Of course. . After a lot of flapping and fretting before the crisis, she is now remarkable calm, resigned and in good spirits. She is aware that she is far better off than all those folk trapped for the 3rd night in Heathrow Shock. We managed to book the last seat for a flight on Thursday, so here's hoping... No further snow forecast for Edinburgh (but -13 degrees!), but snow in Germany. Biscuit.

I am Beyond Tired. Actually feel quite hysterical cheerful. Or so I keep telling myself. Joe is lovely during the day, really enjoying his newfound mobility and seems to have settled down to having 2 daytime naps of varying but okish lengths. The night however.... gah!! He Who Must Be Obeyed seems to like a party from 2-3am and also likes to check that his staff are still available for his every need in hourly intervals... I do hope it is teeth and he will have all the b really soon. Can you overdose a baby with Ashton+Parsons powders??

I had a great work's night out on Saturday, wore my stupid shoes Grin (bought on recommendation of the Threadslayers when I still had the time and nervous energy to actually post on more than 1 thread at a time ), had a (modest) drink, DH made it too which was in doubt as he was on-call, but the local populace decided not to stab each other in the 4 hours we were out. And he had a good time even though he had to remain teetotal - and I had a driver GrinWink.

No shoutouts other than: well done for making it to your cousin's wedding, evitas. Enjoy your time at home Smile.

santaswifesarahandco · 20/12/2010 21:46

MY god u lot are making me fat! CHEERS! Xmas Grin

had a mare of a day the venue for my crazy party cancelled due to snow after abiout 50 phone calls i have secured a church hall just up the road- withing walking distance for everyone:) yay me..... so relived the thought of 27 sad faces was enough to make me find something.... i hope my efforts are not snowed off tomorrow!

Love the new Thread Title... WD ARCADIE X

Glad to hear you made the wedding Evitas and got your hair done,.... my hairdresser cancelled me today boohoo:( still neva mind...

All my groceries are bought now for the xmas period apart from bread as the store was empty! i think i need to send dh to get booze though.... we cant have enough heehee!

right off to bed x night ladies

donttrythisathome · 20/12/2010 21:47

siamese posted on your thread.

rkd ta for the thread - is it ok I necked a beer instead of
vino?

smac I burned the carpet today with the hairdryer. Was heating up a hair-removal strip for my moustache! Haven't told DH yet - covered it with newspaper. I am definitely reverting to childhood.

Talking about hair - I'm getting mine cut and my bushy eyebrows threaded tomorrow.

PDcrap about Joe. Still you know HE CAN DO IT. So he doesn't have a sleep disorder or anything - just highly curious and lively.

evitas sigh Portugal sounds fab.

We (in theory) are off to the mother-in-law tomorrow for xmas in the midlands. I won't really have access to a computer so HAPPY XMAS and "see" you all next week. xx

donttrythisathome · 20/12/2010 21:49

sarah x post. Enjoy the party, well done on the venue.

By the way am mad jealous of all the nights out, holidays etc. I'm doing bog all, feeling like billy-no-mates boring fart of the year.

MerryElk · 20/12/2010 22:02

today i have walked a Fair Bit, owing to the double iced snow-topped driveway which my not-quite-PDDogMobile-standards volvo couldn't face. And tbh, i just couldn't be arsed with a prang. these roads have never seen a gritter and they aren't about to. melk is keeping Life Simple.
who was it saying their LO had EIGHT teeth?! Shock - well at least, i was Shock and was going to post similar except i found DD2's 7th and 8th teeth today...which would account for much...Hmm. she's still lush, mind Smile

libraries...Yes, yes we too have a library... it's a recent addition to the Melk household and is everything we've ever dreamed of melk inner voice shouts you aren't talking about your plans for the old boiler cupboard are you in all seriousness pixie am Envy at the library, not to mention the nonchalant way you threw that into the conversation Grin

brain fried. off to bed. DH snowed in at work. he gets a hotel mind, so don't feel too bad for him. PLUS he has emptied TWO BASKETS OF CLEAN SORTED LAUNDRY OUT ON THE FLOOR over the past two days which drives me bonkers Angry Angry Angry

SiameseSnowCat · 20/12/2010 22:09

Oo Melk this? yummmmy

Hair looks fab and it was really nice sitting doing nothing for an hour without someone pulling my clothes or poking me up the nose. Now I need somewhere to go..

MandaHugNKiss · 21/12/2010 12:03

Meltdown imminent. Have not begun packing Biscuit. Raincover not arrived despite being ordered two weeks ago (I'm assured it's'on a van' today Biscuit), DsD's north face jacket hasn't arrived (despite paying for next day delivery - on thursday Biscuit), normally order currency in advance, for best rates, and get it delivered to me; haven't even looked at rates (shhh, I know I could be doing that now for pickup at the airport Biscuit). Still nowhere booked for christmas eve/day; hope there IS availability somewhere when(if) we get there - and best of all the uncertainty of whether the flight will be cancelled Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit. THe same flight today is cancelled... but, as they say, tomorrow is another day. Biscuit (that's surely a whole packet by now?)

If I DO get away, I shan't be checking in until back so... lots of christmas love to you all!

BusyMisstletoeIzzy · 21/12/2010 13:06

donttry I know there were a lot of us at the London MMMM, and I didn't get a chance to talk to you properly, but I really don't remember you having a moustache Xmas Grin

Oh Manda, I hope your flight goes as scheduled tomorrow. Also, personally I often just take currency out at ATMs abroad, as the bank often gives a better rate than Bureau de Changes, especially the one at the airport. Might be handy to have some cash though, for airport taxi etc if needed.

siamese glad the trip to the hairdresser was a success.

sarah Glad you found a replacement party venue, hope it all goes well.

iwcas, if you're around, hope R has gotten over his illness and that you're having a more positive time.

Well, I'm still waiting to find out if my ILs will be arriving this evening. The bigger problem now is that they're worried about getting stuck here, as their dogsitter is going away on the 29th Dec. We have a fridge full of lovely food, courtesy of Ocado delivery this morning, and might not have anyone to help eat it. Plus a turkey crown which I need to pick up on Christmas eve. If it's just me and DH we'll be eating turkey all next week!

santaswifesarahandco · 21/12/2010 15:42

manda hope you get away and allis well, merry christmas have a great time x

BMI- i do hope your ils manage to get here and back so all thier plans can go ahead :)

PARTY was ace! Sadly we had a few people not get there due to the weather etc- one of my friends little boys came down with chicken pox overnight..... so she said they werent coming, i messaged everyone who was coming and was told it was fine they all had no problem with him being there...most of the children there have had it anyway. One friend and her 2 boys didnt reply to my messages of my fone call (presumed she was going to be a now sho as usual!)but now she is just being a bitch about everyone.... oh well her loss we had a ball santa was brillant food was good, cheesy music what more could we need!

lol

right off to find pacactamol to stop my ears ringing x

hecklephone · 21/12/2010 18:46

Interesting - one of the DoDs is about getting swine flu jab in pregnancy - exactly what we were all debating this time last year! I never did get it...

DD2 is full of a rotten cold, the poor wee thing. She's been snottery and sneezy all day and quite grumpy - quite different from her usual easygoing self Sad. I feel so sorry for her and I really hope it clears up properly in time for Christmas.

Unfortunately for her, I guess, since she could use the comfort of it, we also seem to have stopped bf. I haven't fed her for more than 24 hours now. We were down to just one or sometimes two feeds in the night and last night she didn't take anything. I shouldn't speak too soon, for I imagine she'll be very unsettled in the night and I'll be tempted to offer boob, but I got the impression during the previous night that she really wasn't getting very much anyway and I definitely don't feel full in any way. So that, I think, is that. I feel a bit Sad because it's the last (planned) time that I'll breastfeed and despite a few issues, I did enjoy it.

Ok, gotta go and get DD1 into the bath and bed, I have a feeling I'll be on major baby duty later - she's going to want a nice comfy mummy-shaped bed Biscuit

Shroomer · 21/12/2010 19:22

I am also at the hairdressers tomorrow. First cut in 5 months.

What's all this about libaries and entrance halls? No-one's picked up on the entrance hall. I imagine it is all wood-panelled, like the library. With a big FO wooden door. And a big knocker. And butler.

Right, I have to see to my humidor. Been having terrible problems with the humidity in there, and the wine cellar's playing up again.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Sariska · 21/12/2010 19:42

Shroomer Grin

Manda - really hope you get away. We fled (more) advancing snow this morning and have made it to my mother's house, halfway on our trip to Edinburgh.... Only took 5 hours. Leg 2 on Wednesday. Really, Christmas should be at a more sensible time of year. Say, August....

hecklephone · 21/12/2010 19:51

Lol shroomer Xmas Grin

MandaHugNKiss · 21/12/2010 22:23

Just hopping in to say flight is confirmed as leaving tomorrow - I still haven't packed. Bloody hell.

I did get a positive opk though. Which is HIGHLY inconvenient!

And, uh, I am sad that I didn't put fairy lights up in the folly this year. DIdn't seem much point as we're away and all.

I hope pixie takes the ribbing in the good humour it's meant Grin and lots of positive thoughts for both christmas eve events!

I better pack. FlLipping raincover didn't arrive either; on a van my bum! Angry

BlueyDragon · 21/12/2010 23:10

Quick flit in to mark my spot and scoff all the mince pies.

Alex has conjunctivitis so bad his eyes nearly swelled shut. no half measures with my boy. However I'm now off for Christmas and am having a Mummy day with DD tomorrow to take her to the children's Christmas party at my office. Hard to tell who's more excited, her or meGrin.

Scooby, if you're lurking, are you ok?

Evitas, hurrah for escaping Fortress UK!

Manda, good luck with your escape bid.

Waves to everyone else.
