Happy Christmas MMMs. This is my gift to you!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SiameseCatWoman · 28/03/2011 16:08

Mnetting from the work loo ala bluey.
I've just had to handexpress in the sink as DD didn't feed this morning, and had slept through (hurray). I was beginning to look like I'd had a boob job at lunch!!
Back later after I go home and see what the landscaper has done today (I thought this day would never come...!) although DH tells me they have chopped down my favourite pear tree in a fit of chainsaw enthusiasm :(

SiameseCatWoman · 28/03/2011 16:31

Just while I'm skiving thinking, is anyone up for another Scottish meet up, this time without snow?

Also good luck to pacific for your appraisal.

SiameseCatWoman · 28/03/2011 16:33

Just to clarify I was not in the loo for 20 mins!!!

evitas · 28/03/2011 16:42

And we are back from our holidays in sunny Fuertventura! it was a good break.

I'll catch up properly later.

Siamese Another Scottish meet up sounds fab!!

BlueyDragon · 28/03/2011 17:28

I knew I wasn't the only loo lurker.

Sariska, who won the work argument? We have those Sad.

Happy birthday all the MM Babies thus far and to the Mad mummies as well (I mean Melk, not Missp, who although clearly certifiable after her driving comment, is not a Birthday Girl as far as I know).

Feeding : is there an independence assertion at this age? Alex likes food (he eats what we/his sister eat, but that's informed by his needs so minimal salt and hold the chillies) but he has to do it himself. This is fine if he uses his hands, not so fine with the fork or spoon he wants to use. The MESS! But sometimes it's not just easier to go with what they want, I reckon, but it's also better if you see what I mean.

Climbing: check. Well, as much as he can given huge stomach lack of mobility. They're all different though, aren't they?

Donttry, how did you stop yourself from slapping that mum? Honestly. I am very proud of DD's speech (sometimes I wish she wasn't as articulate as she is, but that's 4 year olds for you) but a) I somehow manage to resist showing off about my amazing parenting to total strangers (although obviously not to you lot [self-mocking] Grin )and b) it had nothing to do with me because I was back at work full time when she was six months old. Sorry, small rant, the majority of people do their very best to raise their children well, whether they stay at home or go out to work, so I find that kind of comment irritating at best. (Legal disclaimer: the use of violence in this post is metaphorical only. Children should not reenact scenes from this post)

Pixie: SEVENTY!!!!!!!!!!

Smac, yay on the bf.

Alex has a chest infection poor baby, so last week wasn't fun. Add MMR side effects and 4 molars ( at least I think there's all 4, fingers in the mouth is dangerous and somehow he always manages to cry in a way that means I can't see them) on their way through and no wonder he's grumpy.

Pacific, good luck tomorrow.

For those who are concerned at the size of this post I am not in the loo but standing in the station car park!

Shroomer · 28/03/2011 17:35

Oh Miss spent youth Grin ahahahahahhaaaaa!! I've just laughed my socks off and it took Melk to explain it. I simply read it as a surname. Doh.

LO's birthday on Wed. Going to the farm to pet some animals. He'll be petting them, I'l be pitying them. I've seen how hard he 'pets' his stuffed toys. I fear for them.

MummyElk · 28/03/2011 22:06

yay for shroomers equal lack of linguistic understanding...Grin...We get to sit the rkd's Corner of Shame....Blush

Just watched the last OBEM....Sad...mostly Sad that I won't get to hear the music again for a whooolllllle year.....I'm consoling myself that i might be pg again by the next series...
bluey sorry about alex's chest infection... some nasty bugs going around...

I'm also a closet loo MNer....(but you guys knew that anyway Smile) glad i'm not alone....

and yes to (what was it bluey?) "Independence Assertion"..Smile..yes to that. I call it ARSEYNESS....Hmm. The NOISE, ladies..... and yes to the MESS...[groan]. you can see why I was so upset our dog was AWOL end of last week. dreadful.

Right i'm off to bed. Good luck pacific for tomorrow.

Pingpong · 28/03/2011 23:00

oh good luck pacific
no climbing here but the reach I tell you !! My girl can reach further than I can possibly anticipate. I was called away to urgent toilet business (DD1) the other night and came back to find pyrex jug, 2 raw eggs and a whisk on the floor, one soggy baby toddler and one happy dog!
right must dash still have long to do list. couldn't get rid of MIL - she finally left at 10.05pm having arrived at 3.30pm - DH and FIL had skived off to the pub already so I was left to entertain
melk how is the dog?
shroomer at the petting pitying of small animals.
pixie have you suffocated under that pile of envelopes? haven't heard from you in a while.

slimmingsarahandco · 29/03/2011 17:20

Hello all x cant stop got to get ready for work!

PacificDogwood · 29/03/2011 21:47

So, I will be back.

When I am a little less drunk more sober than just this very currently, thankyooverrimuchly

BlueyDragon · 29/03/2011 22:06

Quick question: has anyone else moved their wrigglers LOs onto cow's milk? Alex doesn't seem bothered whether it's Aptamil or DairyCrest so he's on the cheaper stuff...

Hope the celebrating is fun, Pacific!

MummyElk · 29/03/2011 22:19

she's on cow's milk bluey but we have to warm it slightly.... apart from anything i couldn't be arsed with the cost of aptamil... i have the odd worry that she's not eating a broad range of things.. but now i think of it, i'm sure her appetite has gone massively up since we did that.... hmm... i wonder......
I've told rkd to crack on with new thread so don't spoil her fun ladies, she gets this highlight less and less frequently with our damnation of a RL taking over....Smile

and yay to pd you enjoy that wine lady, you've earnt it....

MissPenteuth · 29/03/2011 23:05

Pacific, glad it's all over (for a year anyway?) and you have all the Wine you want, you deserve it.

Bluey I'm currently weaning Isobel onto cow's milk. She wasn't too keen at first so I'm doing it gradually, giving her some in a cup before her bottle and gradually increasing the amount in the cup and reducing the bottle. Seems to be working and I'm so looking forward to not having to make formula anymore!

Speaking of food, I've been moving away from jars and sticking with finger foods and bits of what DH and I are eating. Izzy loves potatoes in any form and is quite good with veg, but doesn't seem too fussed about meat. Chicken, ham, bits of sausage or meatball all end up on the floor and I end up giving her a bit of cheese and a yogurt to get some protein into her. Any tips or tricks, or do I just persevere?

I woke up feeling dizzy and off-balance this morning so I've been to the GP and am on anti-vertigo tablets. Hope to be fine for Birmingham on Saturday though. Looking forward to it :)

hecklephone · 29/03/2011 23:32

Yup, we're on cow's milk here too, usually warmed a bit. I'm also trying to wean her off bottles and onto cups but she doesn't seem so keen on that, even though she'll happily drink a cup of water.

BMI I would just persist with the meat - IME it takes them a wee while longer to get used to the tastes and textures of meat, but she'll get there.

I'm happy to report R's cold is all but gone, however her sleeping habits have gone backwards, thanks to it Hmm. Sigh, back to square one...

Also newsflash from heckle-land: I have a job interview . It's a bit of a long shot, but worth a stab. My main worry at the moment is what the flip I'm going to wear - it's not ok to turn up for an interview in jeans and a hoodie, right? It's been a long time since I had to look smart! Grin

Flisspaps · 30/03/2011 00:07

Bluey DD is on cow's milk, but it has to have the cold edge taken off it (which DH needs reminding about at bedtime as trying to use an ice cold bottle to get DD off to sleep Does Not Work). No gradual change here, SMA in one bottle and then cow's milk in the next, and that's what she's had ever since.

MissP No tips or tricks, just persevere. DD faffed with food for ages before deciding she would actually bother eating it, particularly meat. The first time she really bothered was with a strip of rare-ish beef which she sucked until it was just a lump of grey goo. Hope you're feeling better soon, and definitely for Saturday.

PD Well don, have another Wine

heckle depends on the job as to whether jeans and hoodie are suitable attire...best of luck though!

This weekend we discovered that DD's appetite is WAY bigger than we'd given her credit for, poor bugger must have been starving for weeks, so we've upped her portion sizes and hey presto, half of it's ending up on the floor again. I need a dog! She's also started to be mega-fussy at bedtime and won't go to sleep for about an hour, and not without much screaming, back arching and general fighting Hmm Fingers crossed she'll stay asleep tonight :) Also, she can use the doidy pretty well but can't get it back onto the table without creating a fountain and/or waterfall.

Looking forward to Saturday, not been around much of late as my head is up my arse trying to get round the mountain of paperwork I still haven't done should Ofsted come knocking. It's bloody ridiculous, I only wanted to stay at home with DD and make enough money to pay my bills at the same time by looking after my friend's DD, but I do more paperwork now than I did in my admin role before - so I may as well take on as many children as I can, as the paperwork doesn't increase hugely with more children, but at least the money will be better.

Enough blithering from me anyway, much love to you all :)

Pingpong · 30/03/2011 08:59

Ah hem head girls, deputy head girls, prefects .....
This is post 992 we need a new thread.
As you were.

Wine clink for pacific (it's an imaginary glass for me it is not even 9am yet!)

Cows milk here for DD2, she wasn't ever keen on formula and it is now 8 days since a booby feed Grin I wore a proper bra yesterday but need to find the rest of the stash and see what fits.

DD1 is still not a big meat eater MissP she loves fish and cheese though and will eat mince and stewy type stuff (if it's all very soft and juicy) but not keen on chicken or slices of roast meat for example. This has changed - when she was DD2 age she would eat anything! I wouldn't worry just keep experimenting and if it's what you and DH are eating then there isn't too much extra work!

Having a dog is certainly useful when it comes to weaning!

Right have no bread or milk in the house and MIL will be here in a minute or two so need to nip out and get supplies in so I don't look like a crap mummy/wife.

DD1 had a magic party yesterday but I am now shattered!

MissPenteuth · 30/03/2011 09:08

Happy birthday to Shroomer's DS :)

Smac, your DD1's birthday party looked fab, lovely photos on FB.

Heckle good luck with the interview, and probably best to aim for the smarter end of smart-casual. Also remember not to accessorise with baby food/snot/sick etc. Wink

Pacific, did you manage to get your skiing trip sorted in the end?
