Just stopping off to say Bye. Off to Yorkshire in a bit then funeral tomorrow.

Thanks for all the thoughts....

HerculesPoirot · 11/02/2011 09:43

My thoughts are with you and your family today blathers. I hope it goes well and that you get to have time to remember all your fond memories of your grandfather. X

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 11/02/2011 16:47

Hi all

Just wanted to say, i hope it's gone well for you today Blathers (YKWIM) and that i'm thinking of you.
xxx

HerculesPoirot · 12/02/2011 10:48

Hi everyone, hope you're all ok. Not much to report here. Imogen still not walking or saying words that you recognise. Having said that she has no trouble communicating her every need and never shuts up! She is into her music at the moment dancing and singing - sympathy for the devil was he latest gave on the radio yesterday, dh was very pleased when I told him!

Dh goes away again tomorrow for the week, and then my half term. I'm going to cut out her daytime drink of milk and see if I can get her to move from bottles to beakers, but we shall see. To be honest, if it doesn't work then i'll just leave it, but thought i'd see...

LifeOfKate · 12/02/2011 20:25

Hello All!

Firstly (if you even remember me, it could be a good year since I've posted Blush) I am so so sorry for abandoning the thread! I am so rubbish at keeping up with threads like this and got so bogged down in being a new mum and being sleep deprived that I just couldn't keep up. Anyway, I'm now in a much better state of mind, so am hoping you don't mind if I re-join? :o

Just to introduce myself again, I'm Kate, my DS is Noah, who was born on 9th December 2009. I wasn't on the antenatal thread, as he was actually due on November 25th Hmm, so wasn't around on the thread all that long, so I forgive you if none of you have a clue who I am Wink

Hope you are all well, I've had a quick read through this thread to try and have a little catch up :)

Hope the funeral went as well as can be expected, Blathers, it sounds like a very sad time for your family :(

We are good, Noah is not very well at the moment, a virus apparently, he's had a temperature since Monday evening, which we've been treating with calpol. He is feeling sorry for himself and not eating a huge amount, which is very unlike him! Apart from that, he's doing great :) He is such a funny and cheeky little boy, I love his little character, and he's so loving as well, he's just started to understand the word cuddle, it's sooo cute! He's not walking properly yet, he can take 6 or 7 steps, but most of the time chooses to crawl, as I suppose he's faster then! He's got a couple of words (Teddy - the name of our cat and Daddy), and we can get him to repeat words too sometimes, but he doesn't use them spontaneously in the right context, so don't think they count :)

Not much other news other than that I am pregnant again, I'm 14 weeks, due in August and bloody knackered! Absolutely c**ping myself at the thought of looking after 2 under 2 (I've got no excuse, this one was planned too Blush), but hopefully it'll be good fun! Definitely the last one though, I really don't enjoy being pregnant, I'm booking DH in for the snip as soon as possible after the birth :o

Anyway, sorry for the mammoth post, I promise to catch up more regularly now Wink :o

Blatherskite · 12/02/2011 20:54

Welcome back Kate. Congratulations on the new pregnancy - and planned too! You are a very brave lady :)

Back from the funeral now. It went as well as can be expected. The priest annoyed me a bit as he seemed to want to use the Church service as an opportunity to convert people and I had to hold me tounge when a Great Uncle was making his speech as he kept talking about how Grandad's stay in the care home was only supposed to be temporary when those of us who were actually there knew that he was never going to be able to care for himself again. But all in all it was nice, everyone talked about how kind and gentle he had been and the wake afterwards was good as I got to see a lot of expteded family I haven't seen in ages.

Glad it's all over now though and glad to be back with my little family.

...even if it does mean going back to 5-6am wake ups instead of laying in until 7am like I was doing at Mums :)

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 12/02/2011 22:27

Glad it went Ok blathers. was thinking of you! xxx

Hi Kate, i remember you! I was Bexj78 (i think) but had a name change a bit since!

All fine here. DH has gone to work over in the middle east again for a week, so had to take him over to manchester airport ths morning. Find driving round manchester so stressful- EEk! But got back home in one piece! Shed a little tear when he went off to the departure lounge, i am such a sap. :(

this aft when we got back anna was playing in the house, she has a little rocking dinosaur (one of those fabric ones, from mamas and papas) and she started climbing on it and standing on its back, like a circus bare back rider... She did it three times before she got tired ... Does not bode well Hmm -little monkey!

HerculesPoirot · 12/02/2011 22:50

Glad it went ok blathers.

Ethelred, you are definitely not a sap. Dh goes away loads to the us for a week each time and I still cry a bit when he goes, and sometimes when he comes back too! He thinks it's funny! Got to say goodbye to him for next week too. Anna sounds like Imogen, do they all get monkey like at this age? Her latest thing is to stand on her bricks in her toddle truck, ho,d onto the handle then rock back and forth so that the truck moves around whilst she tries not to fall off. Very safe i'm sure. I tend to hide the toddle truck in the hallway, dh on the other hand thinks it is funny and pulls her sound on it!

Lifeofkate, welcome back and yes I remember you. I used to be hendo77, but blathers constant name changing inspired me to be something different! Massive congratulations on your pregnancy, I hope to join you soon but sssshhhhhh don't tell anyone!

I made us all dinner tonight and I think it was definitely my biggest hit with Imogen to date - she has discovered she loved the rice and it was hilarious watching her shove it in her mouth with her hands.

LifeOfKate · 13/02/2011 21:23

Aww, thanks for the lovely welcome back :o Ethelred, I think you had name changed before I left, so maybe it wasn't as long ago as I think it is. It all clicks into place, Hercules, I did recognise your posts and your DD's name, but couldn't remember your old name! Blathers, who were you originally, as again, I recognise your posts and your DD's name, but cannot remember your old name!

I'm glad the funeral went as well as it could.

Good luck Hercules :)

Ugh, don't talk to me about climbing, if there is something to climb, Noah is up it Hmm I'm currently trying to impose a new 'sit down if you're on the sofa' rule, but it's not working at the moment and I just tend to get laughed at :(
Noah is feeling much better now and his temp is back to normal :) It's horrid when they're ill :(

Catherine took her first steps this morning!!!

She's been cruising for ages and walking holding onto just the end of my finger for weeks but this morning, while we were at Music and Movement, she was stood watching the leaders and just took 3 or 4 steps forward, then stopped, then took another 4 or 5 steps Grin I knew she could do it and would when she wasn't playing enough attention to realise what she was doing.

Everything is now crossed that this new developmental leap means more sleep for me Wink

Kate, I was probably AlCrowley last time you were on here.

HerculesPoirot · 14/02/2011 19:30

Hooray for Catherine!

I think Imogen is going to be the last to walk and talk - she doesn't say anything that would be recognisable to a stranger yet except maybe a sort of row, row, row for when she wants to do row, row, row the boat with you!!!

LifeOfKate · 14/02/2011 20:52

Thanks Lee, yes, your name was the only one I could 'recognise' :)

Blather... ahhh, of course! Definitely remember now :o Great news about Catherine walking :o Noah can take 6 or 7 steps, but was put back a bit by being ill, so has gone back to crawling the past week :(

Hercules - Row row counts!!

What I've found over the past couple of weeks is that even though he hasn't acquired any new words lately, he definitely understands a lot more and can follow a fair few instructions. So the language is going in, even if it's not coming out again!

Cooked this recipe at the weekend and served it with rice and Imogen loved it so thought I'd share. I didn't have marscapone and used philadelphia instead and also we only had skinless chicken breats but even so it was delicious.

Just thought I'd share!!!

Blatherskite · 15/02/2011 20:15

Ooh, that looks fab. Catherine adores tomato based pasta sauce so that looks like it might be just her thing. Thanks Hercule.

Hope your DS1 is feeling better Lee. It's so awful when they're poorly and there's not much you can do.

DH and I went out on Sunday for Valentines. We got to use a voucher for a cheap meal and it was a lot less packed than it would have been on monday night - see how far my standard have slipped since marrying him!! DH came home from work on Monday night with a card and the first bunch of flowers he's bought me since before we got married!! I'd been told not to spend any money (we are really skint this month) so I made him a heart shaped lemon drizzle cake. Not mega romantic but nice :)

I made a round one and "carved" it into shape Blush

It was yummy :)

LifeOfKate · 16/02/2011 11:05

That's a great plan, Blather, then you get to eat the carved off bits, everyone's a winner :o

That recipe looks lovely, Hercules :)

Not a lot going on here, except that instead of Noah keeping me up last night, it was a sodding duck from one of the gardens behind us Hmm

BlueChampagne · 16/02/2011 13:26

The boys have had the Vs but not the Ds at least, and are at home with Daddy today. They seem to be on the mend.

Unfortunately had both of them keeping me up last night, and the nutty neighbour next door Angry.

Kate, the duck also made me giggle a little bit, although I know how much stuff like that annoys me beyond all rational thought at the time! This year I was all for banning fireworks forever more...

Blue/Lee hope everyone feels better for you soon.

Blathers - sounds like you had a lovely night out with your dh.

I have finished now for half term, so 11 days with Imogen which I am looking forward too. She has been desperate to eat food not really suitable for cutlery with her spoon/fork set so tonight I gave her food suitable for eating off her spoon, but she thought it would be better to pick it up with her hands and shove it in her mouth mostly as it was quicker - I can't win!!! I also let her eat her own yoghurt pot with her spoon (probably ages after everyeone else has done it...) and she loved it, although quite messy. once she got to the bottom, she used her hands to scoop the last bits out of the pot!!! I have started to video it to show dh as her eating is making me giggle every night!!!!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/02/2011 10:40

Hello all. Just getting this thread on the thread im on list!

Hope everyone is well.

LifeOfKate · 17/02/2011 16:50

Yes, in retrospect the duck incident was funny, especially since I spent the first few dozy minutes wondering if Noah had just developed a very strange cough Blush :o

Blatherskite · 17/02/2011 20:11

Catherine woke at 7.13am this morning :) and had a 2h 15min nap this afternoon Grin She's going to be well rested and up at 4am tomorrow isn't she Sad
