Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sorry. I'm still here and still pregnant! Anybody fancy talking baby names? We literally haven't got any at all on the shortlist Confused The poor thing will be nameless for weeks at this rate!

Blatherskite · 03/08/2011 14:56

Ooh, I wonder who will pop first Kate, you or my friend who's also due any day now... How exciting.

Do you have any ideas at all? Know what sex you're having?

LifeOfKate · 03/08/2011 16:42

Cheers Blathers, the last thing I need is someone else to compete with to the baby finish line :o

I can almost guarantee it'll be your friend, I think I just make it too comfy in there for them Hmm Am 39 weeks today.

I have a few favourites but all have been vetoed by DH :( Equally, I have vetoed his choices as well! The only girls name we vaguely agree on (as in could both live with, rather than both like a lot) is Lucy, I'm just a bit sad that I don't love it, I'd really like the next one to have a name I love, as I love Noah's name :( And we don't even have one boys name we both agree on! Argh!
We don't know what sex the baby is, although DH is sure it's a girl, but there's no scientific basis for his opinion!

Blatherskite · 03/08/2011 18:20

Funnily enough my friend and her DH can only come up with names they could both live with too. Their DD had her name changed shortly before they went to register so they're not good at making decisions :)

Hmmm, names that would go with Noah? The one I know only has sisters but they are called Ella and Freya. His middle name is Evan and I know for a long time they toyed with giving him that as a first name... Do you want another biblical name?

I think friend is due in about a week so it may be close. I remember how frustrating the last few days are though so I'll keep my fingers crossed that s/he comes soon for you.

LifeOfKate · 03/08/2011 19:45

I love the names Ella and Freya. I think DH would like Ella too, but it's the name of my sister, so a bit too close to use! I know DH would veto Freya, but I would also be reluctant to use it as I have a few close Norwegian friends and it would sort of feel like I was trying too hard, if that makes any sense?
We don't particularly want a biblical name, although I do like other biblical boys names, so I'm not ruling it out as that might be the only way to give this baby a name!! The only boys name we were close to both liking was Sam, but I would want it to be Samuel on the BC and DH wasn't keen on that and also there is a man at his work who is not very nice (cheated on his wife quite publically) called Sam, although he is actually called Steven Hmm.
I keep joking that we have a year to decide (you can register but leave the name blank), but it would be nice to have a name before that Confused.

Blatherskite · 03/08/2011 20:17

Noah was the boys name of the day on the MN baby name finder today :) According to that Noah goes well with "Paige, Lorelei, Melinda, Finbarr, Cassidy, John, Archie, Herbe, Jago, Dylan, Inigo, Luke, James"

If you like Ella you could maybe have Emma, Emily, Eloise, Ellie, Helena, Bella, Isabella, Nell? The name finder suggests Maria, Mary and Mae. For Freya it suggests Farrah, Mai, Scarlett, Isaac, Archie, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Grace (apparently Freya is a boys name too)

And of course you can never go wrong with Alexander or Catherine Wink

Blatherskite · 05/08/2011 14:40

Catherine's not at all interested in taking a nap. She's been difficult to put down for about a week now. I used to just read her a story and then lie her down and leave but she startedstanding back up and screaming. It only ever lasts a few minutes and then she sleeps for hours but it's starting to affect bedtime too and she's doing the same then.

I've got a horrible feeling she's just growing out of naps. Alex had them until he was about 2.5 so it feels really early.

Going to skip nap today and see a) how awful she is by bedtime and b) whether it gets her to stay in bed past 5.45/6am tomorrow morning.

Looks like my quiet afternoons while Alex is at School from September that I've been dreaming of might end up staying just a dream :(

I'm hoping Kate's gone quiet because she's off having a baby. My friend is due on Saturday she she could be welcoming her little boy any minute too. My Sister rang today to announce she's pregnant too. Babies everywhere :)

Blatherskite · 05/08/2011 14:44

Did we have any more thought's on a meet-up by the way or is it just me and ABF?

At least that would make it easier to organise Grin

LifeOfKate · 05/08/2011 16:36

Argh, sorry, I'm not off having baby, it's still very firmly inside Angry :(

Thanks for the names suggestions. Think we are possibly just unbelievably picky :( We went through the 2010 names lists yesterday and discussed Sam for a boy, that seems about our only option for a boy, he didn't like my suggestions at all :( Girls names slightly more successful, there were a couple he was willing to entertain, still no go on my favourite (Matilda) though :(
BTW, Alexander and Catherine are great names, but DH's name begins with an A and he doesn't want post issues later on so A boys names are out and I'm Kate which is a little too close for comfort to Catherine for me, would feel like I was naming the baby after myself!

That's rubbish about the naps, I really don't think I'd be coping at the moment if Noah wasn't having a nap, I need that hour or so to recharge! Hopefully it's just a phase and she'll become interested again...

Hope everyone is well :)

LifeOfKate · 05/08/2011 21:41

Oh FFS, an old school friend who I'm friends with on facebook and was due 2 weeks after me has ALREADY HAD HER BABY Angry Bloody queue jumper Hmm :o

Blatherskite · 08/08/2011 21:02

Just popping in to see if Kate's baby is here yet? Still not heard anything from my friend so you still might win :)

I'm still pregnant :( Due date is tomorrow. I'm decidedly less fed up this week though, I think it's because DH is on AL, so I am getting a lot more help with Noah during the day so not quite so knackered.

Lee - I liked Seth, but DH vetoed on the grounds that it is a farmer's name Hmm Glad you had a good holiday, Andrew sounds like a brilliant little talker :) Noah can say a lot of words (some of them understandable by others!) but no sentences yet.

Blatherskite · 09/08/2011 21:17

Hoorah! People are back :)

Hope baby comes soon Kate.

Glad you've had a good holiday Lee. Pity you've had to come back to the current situation. Hope it doesn't get too bad near you. There's trouble here too but I think we're far enough away not to be too affected. Still scary though.

Haven't heard from ABF in ages so not sure if she's still interested but that could be 3 of us for a meet-up. Any more?

Hello all,
Sorry you're still waiting Kate! SIL was due 29 july and still no sign!!!!
Still good for the meet up providing it's not in outer Mongolia! Grin
Had a crap day today as dad got sent to prison. But at least that has drawn a line under it and we can move on a bit now. All very sad and a bit surreal but there you go.
Anna doing well although absolutely full of cold. Snot everywhere!!! Hoping she improves soon, but got appt at doc on fri just in case.
Anyway, will try to post a bit more regularly now. Hoping for baby news soon!!

Blatherskite · 10/08/2011 20:43

Oh no Ethel! How long for? Hopefully it'll be shorter with good behaviour etc.

Ok, so that's 4 of us if ABF is still keen (wherever she's gone!) We need yo find somewhere as close to the middle as possible I guess.....

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 10/08/2011 21:18

Two years Sad but he will only serve one and barrister thought because he is probably going to be categorised as low risk, hopefully he'll get moved to open prison and poss get released on licence with a tag. Fingers crossed.

Blatherskite · 10/08/2011 21:50

2 years! Shock Bloody hell. Fingers crossed for the tag.

A quick google makes it look like just north of Nottingham is central for the 4 of us to show interest so far... Any more? You and I would be travlling the furthest Ethel, is that OK with you? Are we doing with or without kids?

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 10/08/2011 22:30

yeah, if it was somewhere train-able Grin that would be better for me.

Blatherskite · 11/08/2011 07:44

Nottingham itself is probably easiest then as it's a major station. It's probably a direct train for you too.

Lee, do you want to find us something local to do? My knowledge of Nottingham comprises pretty much nothing but pubs and goth clothing stores Blush Grin

Really sorry about your dad, Ethelred :(

We'll have to have another meet uplater on if you all make it to this one as Nottingham is do-able for me, just not at the moment (although I'd almost be willing to take the risk if it was going to bring labour on faster :o).

As you can see, I'm still pregnant. Was feeling good at the beginning of the week, but feeling crap again today and just want the baby here and to be able to bend and move like normal...
