Fairly sure I have tonsillitis again Sad

TheDeathlyMarshmallows · 18/07/2011 21:47

I do have tonsillitis but can't have any ABs because I've already had too many this year so the doctor wants to wait for the swab results for proof that it is bacterial and if so, what bug it is before he'll prescribe. I understand why - I'm getting to the point where I'm risking becoming resistant to them - but the thought of having to wait until Thursday at least before I start to feel better is horrible Sad

He talked about removing them too. Apparently, I need to have had 4 cases of swab-proven tonsillitis in 2 years before I'd be considered. The first lot wasn't swabbed but this will still be case 3 this year alone! Next to ABF and her DH, it would be an easy peasy op but I'm still absolutely bricking myself

MrsHerculePoirot · 19/07/2011 21:52

Haha - seriously I love my ipad, but it does do some strange corrections. That should read... "mountain of work"!!!!

Oh no, hope you feel better soon. At least they are swabbing it for you and taking it seriously. It is seriously miserable though in the meantime. Lots of MN and tea I prescribe!

One more day to go. And no wormi....!

I've just put Alex's pre school uniform in the wash for the very last time. He's got a leavers disco tomorrow so I'm going to send him in eberyday clothes. Have made lots and lots of cakes and eaten the spares-- and washed my last set of tea towels.

Now just to work out how to amuse him for almost 7 weeks straight!! Shock

Blathers now the summer hols are upon us we should try to arrange some sor tof meet-up for us all.

We could do a daytime one at somewhere the kids will enjoy and then we could discuss a great big piss up a nighttime one.

TheDeathlyMarshmallows · 22/07/2011 16:36

Sounds good. Where do we fancy? I know we discussed this but I can't remember where we said was best.

I should really name change back to Blathers too. I was holding out for having seen the film but friend I was going to go with appears to have gone AWOL! I can't ask DH as he hasn't seen or read the other 6 so he'd be lost and bored. Is it very, very sad if I go alone?

Special holiday activities start tomorrow :)

I'm taking the childre to my Mum's tonight ready for a trip to Sheffield tomorrow to see the Amococo. We saw the Mirazozo in MK last year and it was really good so I'm really looking forward to it.

Just got to hope the weather is nice now!...

AmazingBouncingFerret · 24/07/2011 11:55

I'd definitely go again to see it! If only just to ogle Ron Weasley and Neville! Blush

TheDeathlyMarshmallows · 26/07/2011 16:12

I'm back :) We had a lovely time. Just going to upload the photos and see if I got any good ones

Lee, you've just shamed me into replying :o

I have been lurking, but really fed up at the moment and haven't felt like posting much :( I'm 38 weeks today and like I said, fed up, fed up, fed up!! It's not helped by the fact that Noah was 2 weeks late and induced, so I could have another bloody month of feeling like this :( Am full of anxiety about Noah and how he's going to react, it's not really helped by him being so little so not really able to explain what's happening beforehand and also that I am a SAHM and he's not spent a great deal of time away from me (just the odd day and/or night with my ILs), so I'm really worried I'm going to mess him up by disappearing for a couple of days and then turning up with a small shrieky thing that's going to take loads of attention away from him :( Those of you with 2+, please tell me it's going to be ok and that these feelings are normal!

Anyway, sorry for being so crap and disappearing and then just posting again to talk about myself. I'd like to believe that I will be back to my old self in a couple of months, but due to the prospect of extreme sleep deprivation, I'm not promising anything :o

Oh Kate, I feel for you. It was a bit different with Alex because he was almost 3 by the time Catherine was born but even then, he took her arrival very well and before long, it was like she'd always been here. Our only issue was that his potty training took a step back but I'm guessing you won't have started that yet so shouldn't have that problem.

Alex hadn't been away from me very much either as I'm also a SAHM but he took the 3 days he was at PIL's very well (I had to be in hospital for 48 hours after my ELCS) I expected him to be clingy and upset that I'd gone away fro so long and come back with a teeny screaching thing that needed all my attention but he just seemed interested in Catherine and was more interested in wanting to cuddle her than being upset. Yesterday he was suddling and kissing her loads so he obviously doesn't hold any grudges :)

We had books to read about new babies which maybe helped to prepare him. I know Noah is younger but he might understand more than you think. Our favourite was called "There's a House Inside me Mummy" for while I was pregnant. After she was born, The Baby seemed to sum up the frustration of having a new baby in the house perfectly. My friend's baby is due next week so she's borrowed our books at the moment else I'd post them to you. I think they're fairly cheap from Amazon though if you wanted to try them. We also got Catherine to bring Alex a present he really wanted when she arrived which immediately put her in his good books Grin

It'll be OK. My friends boys are 18 months apart and are so close now because of it. I don't remember the eldest being jealous when his brother was born (it's 12 years ago now!!) He was just too little and carried on oblivious.

I hope baby comes soon and comes easily.

I was supposed to be taking us all to a walk in the park today but I'm now absolutely convinced that my tonsillitis is back. Last weeks swab came back negative but when I went back on Tuesday, the nurse could see (sorry TMI) pus again which I didn't have before. I've got a temperature and pain in my ears whenever I swallow. I can't have any more ABs without a definite swab result as I've already had too many this year - from my last 3 lots of tonsillitis since March! - but I'm going to make a doctors appointment and see if I can have some better pain killers. Nurofen plus isn't halping at all this time Sad I thought I felt bad last week but I feel absolutely awful today. Just what I need for the holidays.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 29/07/2011 21:37

Hello everyone. Been a bit of a harsh week. My Grandma got rushed into hospital with a stroke, was so bad that the priest administered the last rites.
She seems to be getting better. It has effected her eyesight so she can't see a damn thing, she was already deaf as a post so can't hear anything either. Went to visit her yesterday and she was nil by mouth because the doctors thought she might have delayed swallowing so they were feeding her via tube through nose. She was shouting and screaming for a drink it was horrible, felt like she thought we were depriving her of water! Sad

TheDeathlyMarshmallows · 29/07/2011 22:41

Oh ABF! I hope she's feeling better soon. That must have been awful

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 30/07/2011 00:59

Hi All

ABF, hope your grandma is ok.
kate, hope you don't have to wait much longer. My SIL is due today, but no news yet!

All fine here. DH still working crazy hours but alright apat from that.
Just watching a tribute to amy winehouse. Very sad.

LifeOfKate · 30/07/2011 21:42

Oh, ABF, that sounds horrible :( Hope you're ok :(

Thanks for the messages Lee and Blathers, they have made me feel loads better :)
Lee - with Noah I was actually due on 25th November, so wasn't even on the right antenatal thread! At least that can't possibly happen this time Confused Hmm

Blatherskite · 31/07/2011 08:22

Blathers is back Grin

I finally got a date with my friend for seeing HP but it was the only one she could do until late August so I dosed myself up and went on Friday night. No-one else in the house has managed to catch my tonsillitis and I was on ABs by then so I figured it was reasonably safe.

Glad we made you feel better Kate. Hopefully it won't be long now...

Blatherskite · 02/08/2011 21:17

It's all gone very quiet on here again

MrsHerculePoirot · 03/08/2011 10:42

ABF, that doesn't sound nice at all. How is your grandma now?

I am loving the holidays, but it is sooooo busy. We've planted things, played out in the garden and paddling pool loads, I've been trying to walk everywhere rather than drive to save a bit of money and get fit. We are off to Italy for two weeks on Saturday so need to get ourselves organised for that. Our flight leaves at 7 am so we have to leave our house about 4.45 am!!!!!! It seemed like a good idea at the time... Hmm

Kate, hope you don't have to wait much longer!

Blathers welcome back!!!
