We had it so easy with Jake. When he had just turned two we one day decided to take the sides off his cotbed. He carried on as normal, never once got out of bed when we didnt want him to.

The same with potty training, one day put him in pants and that was it..

Confused

Elizabeth, I suspect, is going to be a hell of a lot more trouble. Infact I dont just suspect. I know.

[scared]

Blatherskite · 19/06/2011 21:35

Catherine is going to be 100 times more trouble than Alex ever was too!

He was so easy! She is....not

Good job she's cute :)

AmazingBouncingFerret · 19/06/2011 21:38

If she's anything like Elizabeth I bet she already knows it too!

I caught her giving her Dad the puppy dog eyes when she was doign something naughty. She had this sweet as sugar little smile on her face but an evil glint in her eyes! Grin

Blatherskite · 19/06/2011 21:49

Oh yes. If you say "What a pretty dress" she smooths her hands down her front, smiles and bats her eyelashes at you Grin

Catherine slept till 7.15 ths morning!!! Shock

Her usual wake up time is just before 6am! Saturday, it was 5.45!

I'm not betting it on it happening again but it was a lovely lie in this morning :)

MrsHerculePoirot · 20/06/2011 22:04

Haha Lee that is a brilliant rule, although I can't see Imogen doing anything she doesn't want to just at this moment!!!

Blathers - thanks for my book. I turned it over and was gutted at first glance to see that it was for someone that doesn't live here (we still get a LOT of post for previous tenants) and then realised it was for me after all!!!! I shall read it when I finish my current book...

Imogen, Catherine and Imogen sound very similar - let's hope they don't ever meet and plot more mischief! This weekend Imogen screamed like she didn't know me and I was trying to kill her because dh was putting away the highchair in a (full) cafe we were in at the weekend and she wanted him and not me. Not at all embarrassing or anything "er I am really her mother... honest... she usually likes me..". Then this evening I was getting her dinner ready and looked around to see her standing up on the sofa and bouncing up and down in time to some of the songs from 3rd and bird and then she thought it was funny to pretend she was going to get in her highchair and then run away cackling every time I went to lift her up and put her in wanting me to chase her..

Annoyingly our oven went bang yesterday and now doesn't work at all - it has blown the fuse and I haven't yet turned it back on as there was some not nice smelling smoke coming from an unknown source afterwards! I might see what happens tomorrow when dh is back here, but for now everything has to be cooked on the hob or microwave so no baking for me!

Blatherskite · 20/06/2011 22:08

Ah yes, I addressed it to Mrs H Poirot didn't I Grin

MrsHerculePoirot · 20/06/2011 22:17

Yes, and that is still making me giggle now!!!

Such a lovely day today, didnt bother to take Jake to nursery we packed up a picnic and drove to Baddesley Clinton instead. Decided to brave going into the house and they were as good as gold, Jake was asking the volunteers loads of questions aswell I was really proud of him because normaly he is quite shy!
Went back to my mum's with some freshly made scones and a jar of clotted cream and had a cream tea made with my Dad's homemade strawberry jam.
All in all a great day with impecably behaved children! I'm amazed!

Think my oven is on it's way out aswell. It's a gas one and keeps going out... Sad

LifeOfKate · 21/06/2011 17:16

Hi all :)

Just a mini rant.... I'm so bloody tired!!!!!! Noah woke at 1.30am, nothing wrong with him, just wide awake and wanting to play. I lay down in his bed with him for two hours, hoping he would fall asleep but no joy, I had to get up in the end as my back was killing me from being squished up in a single bed with him. He got out of bed and played on the landing for a bit while I lay in bed listening for mischief and then he opened the bathroom door, so I took him back into his room, told him to go to sleep and left and shut the door behind me. I didn't hear a peep after that!! If I'd known it would be that easy, I would have done that in the first place Wink It was getting on for 4am by that point, I eventually fell back to sleep and woke up for absolutely NO reason at 6am Angry
So I have been walking round like a zombie all day :(

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 21/06/2011 17:39

hello all. Marking my place, will write more later once i've caught up!

MrsHerculePoirot · 21/06/2011 20:13

not a NEFF, but it does seem to be the heating element. We just flicked the fuse back on and the grill works, just the oven not heating up. Is it easy to replace the heating element and cheap?

ABF that sounds like a truly delicious day!!

Kate - that on the other hand sounds horrific! Hope you get more sleep tonight!

Blatherskite · 21/06/2011 22:05

Very jealous of your day ABF. My pushchair wheel went pop yesterday - seriously, just like a balloon - and so Catherine has been walking everywhere today. She's been mainly OK - holding my hand and walking in the direction I want to go - but she's also had a few moments where she's had her own ideas and I've had to carry her screaming and pinching me as I take her away from the cars in the opposite direction! My sister has borrowed my spare buggy for her holiday so my only other option was the sling and I didn't think she'd appreciate being so constrained. I've even been out and bought a new inner tube today but the bent valve is too bent Confused and so it won't fit! I'm so annoyed as I really wanted the buggy back for tomorrow.

Your night sounds awful Kate. After me saying Catherine wouldn't repeat yesterdays 7.15 wake up she didn't, today ot was 7.30 Shock I am really not expecting it tomorrow now, although maybe after all the alking she's done today....Hmm?

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 21/06/2011 22:14

HI all

Hope you are all ok. It has taken me ages to catch up on all your news! I need to come on more often! We are fine. Anna has definitely decided that she knows what 'no' means now, and says it at every available opportunity! She can say quite a few words and is starting to recognise things and name them, rather than just copying what we say. Still all just single words though, no mini sentences.
Have had my implant taken out so we are in the tentative first stages of TTC for DC2!! But not in a mad rush as have lots of fun things on over the summer, most of which involve drinking! :o

Work is going fine. Still no news on my bloody job. It is unreal how long it is taking for them to get any info out to us, but I guess that the longer it takes, the longer I am employed!

No real news on my dad's situation. He has been bailed for a further month. My step mum is apparently speaking now and being fed without a tube, so mildly positive.

Going up to see the inlaws this weekend. Deep joy! :o

This morning Catherine was up at 6.30 and Alex is still in bed - It's been the other way round for the past coupld of days just in case you thought I was getting a lie in. If only I could get them synchronised, maybe I could? Hmm

Hope you had a better night Kate.

Glad to hear things are looking more positive for your Dad Lee and that your Step Mum is recovering. Hopefully, it'll all be sorted out soon.

Good luck with trying to concieve Ethelred. Teeny, tiny babies are so lovely but I'm glad we won't be getting up in the night with having any more Wink

Hope you get your oven sorted soon Hercule.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 22/06/2011 09:46

Oooh good luck on TTC. You do know though that because you have fun drinking things planend you will get caught straight away... sods law and all that. Like sparking up a fag when waiting for the bus, it always turns up as soon as you do. Grin

Blathers I have sorted some of Elizabeths stuff for you, mainly the stuff that can be worn on not so warm summer days. Alot of it is colder weather stuff so wont be ideal. PM me you address and I send them to you.

Big tidy up session planned today. Kids at childminders and I'm on holiday after my much hardworked 2 shifts last week.
The place has slowly gotten more and more messy and i'm finally feelign up to do more than the very minimum! Plus Paul is off next week and he plans on decorating the kids rooms and I know for a fact he wont tidy and clean before he does it.
Going to buy a carpet for Elizabeths room hoping to persuade him into buying one for Jake's aswell because neither of them have underlay and are so thin you can see and feel the boards underneath it. Plus they are jsut plain grotty.

MrsHerculePoirot · 23/06/2011 14:41

Haha ABF, good point about the TTC... Perhaps dh and I should plan some thing around drinking and pate and then we'd be fine!!!

I know what you mean about things getting slowly more messy - I just felt like I could never get on top of it, and certainly not over the whole house in one go. We have just got a cleaner again and she is amazing - she used to be a hotel cleaner I think and seriously my house is like a hotel on a Wednesday night. I am never letting her leave... she cleaned everywhere and made beds up, ironed shirts, cleaned under furniture everything. Hopefully now I will finally be able to sort things out in cupboards and stuff as Imogen has suddently decided that opening things, climbing things, running away screeching with laughter at every possible opportunity is the best thing ever so I think I need to reorgnise some areas of our house as they are not in anyway safe!

Got to write all my reports this week and next - I HATE writing reports, well not so much writing the reports, just finding the time to do it as it takes soooooo long when you have lots to do.

Ethelred, hope you coping Ok with all the family situation. I can't believe how difficult the whole situation must be, but definitely a positive thing that your step mum is recovering of course.

ABF - how is your back now? has the pain all gone?

Haven't sorted my oven yet - do need to get on the case with that!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 23/06/2011 16:04

Hi all, thanks for the good wishes. To be honest it's all a bit surreal, but I think once the police actually charge my dad with something, that will change. Sad we are on a big of a state of limbo so hard to really know what to think...
Annnnnywaaay, onto brighter things. Am full of cold! Wink Grin my day just gets better! Snd Anna has a temp too so we've had to knock our plans for the day on the head. DH is at a big piss up awards evening at asda HQ tonight, so will be having a quiet night watching soaps tonight sndmaybe doing a bit of hoovering just to liven things up. Hmm My life is so rock and roll!!! Grin
Agree with whoever said about their house never being tidy. ours just seems to lurch between degrees of shit-tippedness! We have two spare bedrooms, one of which is like a bloody laundry and the other is just full of boxes and boxes of Anna's old clothes. Plus the lounge just has piles of paper everywhere. Arrgghh!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 23/06/2011 16:52

MrsH either my downstairs is tidy or my upstairs is tidy. There is some sort of unspoken rule which says that both cannot be tidy together. It drives me mad.

Back is alot better thank you. It still aches and has twinges but the pain I used to get is gone hopefully it wont come back when I'm back at work properly because if so I'll have to quit and become a sahm, not that there is anything wrong with that of course but I would fear for my children's safety and my mental wellbeing...
Wink

Report writing must be a right chore. We used to have one teacher that wrote in a friends report that he started the year off like a rocket, going up and up with much progress until he fizzled out and came falling back down...
~We found it hilarious. Looking back it was quite mean actually!

LifeOfKate · 23/06/2011 17:37

Yay on the trying to conceive :o I am very very Envy about the cleaner! I WANT ONE! Have told DH that from next spring I am going to pay for a spring clean every year, doing all the crappy jobs that just don't happen like cleaning out the kitchen cupboards and washing down skirting boards. I am crap at cleaning and have to be mentally and physically 'in the zone' to get the motivation to do it.... either that or somebody has to be visiting Wink Am feeling no motivation at all at the moment, I definitely don't get that nesting thing that other people talk about!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 23/06/2011 19:51

Something really weird happened today...

Elizabeth had a full scale tantrum in the kitchen pointing up at the top of a set of cupboards that are lower than normal due to where the stairs are.

Paul humoured her and reached on top and there were aload of chocolate buttons. They looked like they had been there a while...

What I want to know is, how did they get up there? How did Elizabeth know they were there?
The cupboards may be low down but they are still too high for Jake to have put them there. Neither Paul or myself put them there.

Confused Confused Confused
