Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

The talk of Facebook reminded me of our Facebook Group... I checked it - I was the last person to post anything - on 23rd July 2010!! Shock That's almost a year ago!!

Quite happy to have you all as Facebook friends though, especially if it makes meeting up easier :)

MrsHerculePoirot · 06/06/2011 02:47

Found the recipe from earlier in this thread after all! Hope you don't mind me stealing it and passing it on Blathers...

Blatherskite · 06/06/2011 08:38

Go for it. If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's from the BBC Good Food website anyway so hardly a secret family recipe even if I did make a few changes. :)

FowlLanguage · 06/06/2011 10:32

I've added you two. I had forgotten all about the 09 group. It has 23 members! Where are they all??

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 06/06/2011 12:58

Hi all, still alive, our PC's been on the blink. I am in the Facebook group. My initials are REG and there is a picture of me and another girl both pulling funny faces (so mature!) Still up for the meet up. Will write more when Ive caught up!

MrsHerculePoirot · 06/06/2011 21:08

If it's any consolation, everyone is very quiet on there, we're not all off chatting and leaving you out....

Feeling a bit sorry for Alex today. There's a little boy in his preschool who's been talking about his birthday party a lot and Alex has come home more than once saying "X has invited me to his party"...but the invites went out in the book bags today and Alex doesn't have one.

I'm not upset that he hasn't been invited so much (there seems to be a lot of children who have been invited and you have to stop somewhere else it'd cost a fortune) and obviously it's not the Mum's fault that X has been "inviting" extras but Alex is still going to be upset if he works out that he hasn't been invited after all.

I'll make sure we're 'busy' on the day and will cross fingers that he doesn't work out what's going on but Alex and this boy seem to play together a lot so I'm a bit concerned that X will be talking about the party more as the day approaches and he's going to realise that he's missing it.

Grrr, I hoped we'd at least get past Pre-school before we had to deal with this!

Poor Alex. Hopefully he won't be too bothered when he realises, or even better maybe he won't realise at all?

Lee - backwards walking sounds hilarious. Imogen walks backwards whilst pulling along toys to make sure they are doing as they are told, but not other than that. I am very jealous of the words. Imogen can't really say anything at all yet - there are words/phrases that we know what she means and she uses all the time, although if she said the randomly to a stranger I am not sure they would recognise them. So far we have Daddy, shoes, bar (my brother runs a pub ), biscuit, 1-2-3, no and yes. Something that sounds a little like please, she can smack her lips and mime eating when she is hungry and can make sipping noises when she is thirsty!!! She has her own versions of strawberry and blueberry and banana. I am loving it though. The other night she was very seriously telling us something and looking at us and using her hands to gesture and it was just like someone talking to you in a foreign language where they think you understand but you are just completely lost!!!

ABF - saw Paul has his op next week. Hope all goes well and will be thinking of you in case I forget to say it nearer the time. How are you coping with your back now?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/06/2011 15:14

Dont worry Blathers Alex wont remember I forgot to take Jake to a party the other week Blush and he never mentioned it. Plus I forgot to accept in time for another one Blush Blush
Just never mention it again and all should be well!

Yes Poirot next fucking week, I'm crapping myself, I think i'm more scared about his than I was about mine. What would I do if something happens to him? Im useless on my own.

Our tenant is moving out next week aswell and there's a shit load of things we wanted to get done to the flat before we let it again. Normally he deals with all responsible stuff like that and finances and now ive got to do it all. I'm not very good at being responsible!

The back is feeling much better. Doesnt hurt so much. Still completely numb to the touch which is bizarre but i'm used to it now. Very weird when im in the shower, some parts feel the water and others dont!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/06/2011 15:16

Meant to add.. How many words are the babies saying now?

Elizabeth hardly says anything! She says Dog, shoe, and daddy. Yesterday she said peppa but refuses to say it again.

LifeOfKate · 08/06/2011 21:10

Blathers - poor Alex! I'm dreading this parenting lark getting more complicated, they have such simple needs at Noah's age Confused

ABF - Good luck for the operation, hope it goes really well :)

As for words, Noah says quite a few (nowhere near putting them together though), but they are not very clear at all and unless they are in very obvious context, nobody except DH and I can understand him. His words include Daddy, TedTed (the cat), Grandad (notice no Mummy yet!!), fish, shoes, socks, two, six, more, all gone, yes, car, tractor, baby, radish, cucumber (strawberries and gherkins are also called the same thing, but not sure if they count as a seperate ones!), cheese, juice (he doesn't even have juice, only water!!), marmite, star, moon. There might be more, I can't think of any at the moment. He makes a few animal noises too, but not sure if they count as words! His latest funny one is calling milk/cows 'moo'... clearly my explanation that the milk in cartons comes from cows made an impression! :o

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/06/2011 11:25

Ah bless - ABF Imogen and Elizabeth seem very similar in their words! The thing is, she never shuts up jabbering away (no idea where she gets that from!!!) so I don't think she cares very much!!!

ABF - I bet paul was more nervous about your operation than he was. You definitely feel more nervous when it is happening to someone else and therefore completley out of your control (not that your op was in your control, but you know what I mean!).

You'll be fine on the tenant house front I'm sure, I think when you are in a position where you have to do it yourself you'll just do it. You've got family fairly close too havent you? Rope them in for some support and cups of tea and chocolate... and don't try to do it all yourself.

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/06/2011 11:27

Meant to say Imogen is ill again she had a temperature of 39.8 last night at 10 pm. Luckily it is lower this morning, although she isn't right in herself and has gone back to bed for 2 hours already. No idea what it is, whether it is something different, or if part of her ear/throat infection from the other week never quite disappeared. Going to see how she goes today and will ring doctor in morning if she is bad again tonight.

Blatherskite · 09/06/2011 12:25

Catherine says Hel-ooo, Ba-Bah (in a very Southern Belle accent for some reason?), Muma, Dada, Shoe, Tree, Yes, Fish, Socks, All Gone, Lunch, Boat, Thank you, Juice, Toast, Sssss for snake....erm, there are loads more but I can't think of them right now. This morning she said Toodle-oo to DH as he was leaving for work which was very cute too :) She's forever chatting but not a lot of it would make sense to anyone but me and DH I don't think :)

Crossing everything for you ABF. I hope the operation goes well and he's better very soon. I'm sure you'll sort the flat stuff (it's amazing what you can do when you have to) but like Hercule says, don't try to so too much, you're still recovering yourself!

Hope Imogen is better soon Hercule. She's in the wars recently isn't she!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 09/06/2011 14:43

Oh ive thoguht of another one, Elizabeth says Bzzz for Blaise and also says dogger.

I remember being really worried about Jakes lack of talking at this age. Can't seem to shut him up now!

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/06/2011 18:04

I know blathers! She's pretty much been illness free for nearly 18months though so can't really complain. I think we had one eye infection and one unknown rash. We popped out this afternoon for an hour and she's slept loads again today. Fingers crossed for tonight.

I love all their funny words that no-one else would know. We also have pish for pigeon and booboo for blueberry. This morning I asked her something and I swear she said 'esss pizz' for yes please! We also have a lot of 'ah-bee' which can be pronounced slightly differently for teddy, nappy plus anything else which ends in an 'ee' sound!

LifeOfKate · 09/06/2011 21:43

Hope she's better soon, Hercule :)

I know what you mean about the one word for many different things... Noah has de-de which covers a lot!

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/06/2011 22:49

Thanks Kate. She seemed much better this evening, ate cottage pie, followed by a pear. Then ate some of our spaghetti carbonara too! She is nice and cool and went to bed fine so fingers crossed all better now.

Funnily enough, if it isn't ah-bee then it is de-de here too!
