We should plan a meet up for late May next year too - that way we can all be guaranteed a good night out for our birthdays Grin

AmazingBouncingFerret · 25/05/2011 13:11

Yes I think I may (ha ha) be able to do May next year. don't think i have any surgeries planned... Grin

Happy Birthday Lee!

LifeOfKate · 25/05/2011 21:06

Happy Birthday Lee! Sorry I am a day late though! Also Blathers and Ethelred :o

MrsHerculePoirot · 27/05/2011 11:02

Happy Birthday Blathers... and Ethelred if it is around now and we're not all making it up!!!

Poor Imogen still isn't better. As you know last week she had a high temp on Thursday night, and a low one on friday (where she slept nearly all day!). She seemed better, but on both Saturday and Sunday in the late afternoon her temperature spike up to a low fever but she seemed fine so I didn't give her anything. She then had a cough and runny nose, but seemed fine and went to the childminder on mon, tues and weds - quite happy in herself, cough only lasted 24 hours, runny nose just a little bit. Yesterday seemed fine until late afternoon when I thought she was just tired, but she screamed and screamed getting ready for bed and again after being in bed only 10 minutes. We eventually bought her downstairs and despite being a daddy's girl didn't want anything to do with him, just wanted to sit on my lap. She didn't seem to have a temperature, but we gave her iboprofen as something was obviously bothering her. Eventually she went back to bed about 8.30, slept for about an hour then woke up crying again and wouldn't settle. I took her into the spare room and just laid her next to me on the bed and she was quite happy there and went to sleep after a bit, managed to get her back to her cot and after a quick scream slept until past 9 am this morning.

This morning she had her milk, refused to eat anything at all (even fruit or biscuits!!) and just wanted to sit on my lap. Her temperature had gone quite high again so I managed to get some calpol into her (thank god for those syringes!) and then she just wanted to go back to bed. I've rung the doctor and they've asked me to take her in this afternoon.

Sorry, such a long waffling post. I'm just feeling a bit rubbish too with blocked head and DH has been out every night with work (and was away last week) so just feeling sorry for myself I think. I just rang DH at work and cried on the phone like an idiot!!! We've been doing swimming lessons since she was 10 weeks old and we didn't go last week because of her temp and now we can't go today to her last ever lesson so I am gutted (for her and me!) about that too.

Hope you are all OK!

MrsHerculePoirot · 27/05/2011 11:03

Blimey that was long! Sorry! Do feel better though for it...

LifeOfKate · 27/05/2011 11:48

Aww, Hercule, poor Imogen! It is rubbish when they're ill, especially with them not being able to tell you what's wrong :( Hope the doctors appt is helpful :)

Blatherskite · 27/05/2011 21:46

Thank you for the birthday messages. I've had a lovely day.

Hope Imogen feels better soon Hercule. What did the Doctor say?

Have a lovely time in Cornwall Lee!

I guess you must be feeling better then ABF :)

MrsHerculePoirot · 27/05/2011 23:26

Thanks everyone. She has two sore ears and very red tonsils so we have antibiotics and lots of calpol for her. I am glad to have dh for three days, although bless her she's tried to play, but is so tired after 10 minutes! I do now have an ear thermometer was is brilliant and I cooked her fish fingers and oven chips for her tea and she ate a fair bit so that was good.

ABF and Lee have good times! Blathers, glad you had a lovely day.

LifeOfKate · 28/05/2011 19:35

Hercule - we have an ear thermometer and I have to say that it is the best piece of equipment we have ever bought, bar none! I insisted on one before Noah was born after watching my stepmum have to pin down my chicken-poxy sister when she was coming up for 3 to take her temperature with one of those digital under the tongue ones which takes 3 minutes. Ear thermometer is worth its weight in gold, I reckon.

MrsHerculePoirot · 30/05/2011 10:15

Definitely, it is briliant and Imogen sits really still for it too, although of course that may just be novelty value! She seems much better now, temperature has gone yesterday and today and she seems much happier in herself so it looks like the antibiotics are doing their thing.

Hope everyone is having a nice bank holiday weekend. DH's family are coming over today for lunch. It is BIL and SIL's birthdays too so I'm attempting a cake that should look very very impressive, but simple to make.... hmmm.... we shall see!

Blatherskite · 31/05/2011 15:57

It's all gone quiet again....

We got an ear thermometer before Alex was born and it's been fantastic. So easy and apparently the most accurate too. I always feel better when we go to the Doctors and they have the same one as we do :)

Hope everyone had a good Bank holiday weekend despite the rain. The sun seems to have finally come out here. Hope it sticks around...

MrsHerculePoirot · 01/06/2011 14:56

Hello! I'm still here!

In fact, was just going to ask what you all think about this... We are going to a birthday party on Saturday, the two boys are 2 and 4. It will be quite a big ish affair and I know they have large families on both sides so the boys have everything they could possibly need in terms of toys and clothes. I have been trying to think of something a bit different to give as presents. I was wondering about making them a 'Gingerbread Men Kit'. So I would print out the recipe (typed up all nicely), and then buy gingerbread men cutters and the ingredients and then put some small bits (eg raisins) etc. in for decorating. I thought they could then have a fun time making them with their mum? I know she would like doing this sort of thing with them, but do you think that is an OK present for them as something a bit different?

Blatherskite · 01/06/2011 15:02

I think that sounds lovely :) Very thoughtful and different from the norm.

In fact, last christmas, I bought Dh's friend's kids a Gingerbread house kit to make together. Went down well with the parents and the children loved it I am told.

LifeOfKate · 01/06/2011 21:08

That sounds great, Hercule, I know I would love that kind of present if I had 2 boys the same age :o

LifeOfKate · 01/06/2011 21:08

Sorry, meant to say, glad Imogen is on the mend :)

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/06/2011 11:28

Thanks!

MrsHerculePoirot · 03/06/2011 11:57
