Thanks everyone! I've put before and after pics up on profile if anyone wants to have a peek.

Blatherskite · 29/04/2011 21:18

Wow ABF, that's so much straighter!! That scar is huge though!! Not in a bad way but in a OMG way.

Hoping recovery is still going well and you're feeling more comfortable now

LifeOfKate · 29/04/2011 21:38

Wow, very much straighter ABF! Hope you're feeling ok :)

I was wondering....I got one of the free copies of "The Slap" when the MN Bookclub were doing it as their book of the month. I've finished it now and while it was a good book, I don't think I'll ever read it again so I want to pass it on and as I got it through MN, it seems right that I should pass it on through MN too. I was going to put a post in the Freebies section but thought I'd ask you guys first? Anyone fancy it?

Blatherskite · 02/05/2011 09:23

Anyone? I'm getting all tangled up in the tumbleweed on this thread!!

:)

Lee the book is yours :) Even though I am very, VERY Envy over Andrew's sleeping. Catherin has never, ever slept that long!!

DH has been home for 11 days so it's going to be very odd when he's back at work tomorrow. Not looking forward to it, it's been so nice having him home Sad

LifeOfKate · 02/05/2011 21:36

Hello, I am still here! Been away too though, had my second night away from Noah and he had his first night away from both DH and I, he stayed with DH's parents. Sounds like they all did ok, although the GPs looked shattered by the time we got back :o Noah said Grandad very clearly before we left, so think that cheered them up a bit :) He says a lot of stuff, but most is unintelligible, particularly to anyone except me/DH. I think it's supposed to be normal for their speech to not be very clear at all at this age Confused

AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/05/2011 22:05

I'm still here aswell! Sort of!
Feel like a fraud, ive been staying with my parents since I left the hospital so it's been a month since I have done any actual parenting! I'm sleeping better now though so might be well enough to go home this week.
Breaks my heart everytime Elizabeth puts her arms up to me because she wants me to pick her up. Sad

ABF - definitely not a fraud, you have been through quite a lot recently!

Lee - thanks :) I'm obviously not worried yet as he's still fairly young and his understanding is massive, I'm always saying 'oh, I didn't know you knew what that was!' :) I just feel a bit sorry for him as he is often clearly trying to say something and we're just not getting it :( He has a couple of phrases, but not in a true sense in that I think he sees them (and says them) as one word, so for example, he will bring over a book and say 'readdis' if he wants you to read him something or 'wassdis?' when he wants you to name something... So he's not actually constructing a sentance out of two words he knows, he's just found a phrase he can say as one word, IYSWIM...

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 03/05/2011 17:49

hello! Am still alive! Will catch up on all of this and then write a proper message soon. I am in York BTW, if we are still debating meet up locations!

Really?? Bloody hell! I fear they would be sorely disappointed if they did meet me! Grin

I live 20 minutes drive from the dead centre of England so i'm easy on where we meet. Train routes are usually pretty good from my town.

Blatherskite · 05/05/2011 09:28

I keep seeing this 'MNers I most want to meet' thread mentioned but can't find it anywhere! Link please Lee...

My Mum is in South Yorkshire so I could use her as a hopping point to York but it's still rather a long way and probably too far for Hercule. Whenever I meet friends from back home, we get together somewhere around where ABF lives as we worked out that was exactly halfway. Adding a little for the North Yorkshire lot, would Nottingham work for everyone?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 05/05/2011 09:30

Nottingham would work for me I know it reasonably well.

Blatherskite · 05/05/2011 10:40

If we go to Notts, we need to have at least one drink in the Pit and Pendulum. Although it's not quite so good since the secret door broke. We used to love sitting nearby and watching the confused faces as people followed the signs to the loos only to find a bookcase Grin

AmazingBouncingFerret · 05/05/2011 10:44

I was going to mention having a drink in the pit and pen but decided against it for some reason!! Shock

I didnt know the door had broke. That's a shame.

We could sit on one of the booths i'm sure my name is engraved on one of the tables... Blush

Blatherskite · 05/05/2011 10:47

It might have been fixed again by now but the last time I went (before Catherine was even conceived!!) it was constantly open as the hinge had gone Sad

Even before that, the paint on the books around where you push had been worn away so it was fairly obvious it was a door anyway.

The random screams, ghoulish cackles and whispers CD was still in full working order though Grin

And the cocktails menu Grin Grin

Looks like I'm going to be sat on my own in the corner at the meet up then. No-one wants to meet me Sad

The Pit is only a short walk from Rock City Lee, which was important whenever we were going out :) The Tap and Tumbler and Old Angel were other favourites.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 05/05/2011 16:25

Oh yes pit and pen was the pub of choice before heading off to rockcity. I used to love the friendliness of seeing complete strangers that were obviously going to the same gig and sharing pints with them and then loads of people all of a sudden best friends and staggering up the road to see the gig!

It's not that far! If I can do it in 6 inch heels and a rubber skirt it can't be miles Grin
