Good luck ABF. Hope it all goes well

MrsHerculePoirot · 13/04/2011 20:59

Hello! Hope you are all well, we have been very busy outside in this lovely weather. Imogen now wants to be outside ALL the time and stands at the door shouting, or trying to reach the handle, or bringing me her shoes and socks to put on or her coat! It is very funny really.

She has definitely got the walking, she is off all the time everywhere. Today as we walked to get in the car (parked on our drive) she let go of my hand and started to walk off down the street without me!!!! I have bought her a little ladybird rucksack that has the harness you click onto it, currently she loves going out wearing the rucksack, but doesn't see why she can't hold the other end of it - apparently my mum gleefully tells me that was exactly what I used to do too!!!!

My parents are back from NZ at the moment until the beginning of May so spending lots of time with them - Imogen loves it, and they will just spend all day playing with her and letting her boss them about so it is much better than boring old mummy who tries to do things like housework!!! My mum who isn't really the spoiling kind as bought her so much stuff too - her favourite has to be the watering can though and she has soaked herself every day 'helping' in the garden!

Anyway, hope you are all well and enjoying holidays if you have them!

Blatherskite · 15/04/2011 18:19

Aargh, I've signed up for the MN meet up. Getting quite nervous now!! Still, it's practice for meeting you lot Grin

Hope everyone is having good holidays. I've managed to get us out of the house 5 out of 6 days so far (Alex had last Friday off too) so we're doing OK. Only 6 days left (he has Monday off too!!)

Sorry to hear your holiday wasn't much fun Lee Sad

If Hercule has the same back pack as us - it's a Little Life one. Alex was bought the bee one when he was little and I've gotten it back out for Catherine now.

It has a handle on the top as well as the long strap so you can get a better hold of them over uneven ground. Ours even has a little rain hat with antennae on for if it rains Grin I'm guessing the others do to.

Blatherskite · 17/04/2011 11:08

Here's the ladybird one

They do plainer blue and pink ones too

Blatherskite · 17/04/2011 11:14

Considering ditching the bee and getting a butterfly for Catherine Grin

i've seen turtles and dinosaurs and sharks too....

MrsHerculePoirot · 17/04/2011 19:54

Yes it was that ladybird one - it is great and Imogen loves it. She spends ages putting it on, putting things in and out of it and taking it off at home. She is also quite happy to wear it like a rucksack when out and about and I am trying to use the harness as much as possible so she gets used to it before I really need it. Most of the time it is fine - she sometimes wants to hold the end of the harness herself (my mum gleefully tells me this is exactly what I used to do!), but more often than not, she is happy for me to hold it, as long as it doesn't go in front of her so she can see it. If that accidentally happens, she grabs it from my hand and flings it behind her!!!!! It does have a little rain hood that is like a little ladybird head too - I love it! I actually got mine from John Lewis when getting some other stuff, but think you can get them in lots of places.

Lee - sorry to hear your holiday wasn't all that relaxing, but well done to your DCs for getting their skiing badges! Hope you get to relax a bit more now you are home. Imogen also loves the farm and all animals, I am probably going to get her a 6 month season pass as if we go 6 times in 6 months we will saved money on the entrance - the farm we go to has an amazing indoor playbarn too so worthwhile going even if raining we have found!

ABF - hope you are recovering well.

Blathers - you are v brave signing up for the meet up - whereabouts are they meeting and when is it?

Blatherskite · 17/04/2011 21:24

It's in London on the 21st May. I'm getting nervous to be honest..

I was worried that Imogen wouldn't want to wear it, so had decided to let her play with it for a bit. She loves walking around carrying things and putting things in and out of stuff so thought that might work. My parents were here and while I had a shower they were putting it on her doll and then making the doll 'walk' with it on. By the time I came back down she was trying to put it on herself and she spends hours trying to do the clip bit up at the front. Tbh I thought it was going to take weeks, but she took to it very quickly!!!

I now have the sunhat on her doll, but that doesn't seem to be having the same effect. EVery time we put it on her, she screams and pulls it off... hmm... I think I shall let the cm persist with that one, she managed to get her to wear gloves in the winter!!!!

sparklycheerymummy · 19/04/2011 23:15

I would love to meet up.....any more plans for it??? I bought one of those back pack reigns things today.....£3 from a charity shop......lucky find hey...... its a dinosaur one!

Blatherskite · 22/04/2011 20:50

I don't think we got much further than ruling out MK. Where are you Sparkly? Where would be good for you?

Yey, it's Easter - bunny grin [bugrin]

Set up my first ever Easter Egg hunt for the children this morning. I'd taken pictures of bits of the house yesterday and cut out egg shapes which I hung around the house to create a trail. Alex wasn't interested at first but once he got the idea he was off :)

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/04/2011 15:45

Hello everyone - also still here, just too nice to be inside these days!

I have to go back to work after the holidays tomorrow - boo! I have had the nicest ever holidays I think and really don't want them to end. We hid eggs for Imogen yesterday and she enjoyed finding them in the front room (when I say hid, I mostly mean put on full view so she would notice them!). Then she realised they could be unwrapped at ate one!!! We've got some lovely toys for the garden now which is nice and means we can be out there loads and loads.

Next weekend for us also should be fun as my BIL is getting married and so we are going for a long weekend to Northampton - Thursday to Monday. My parents are going too, along with all of DH's family so Imogen will have a great time I imagine with lots of people to play with. She had her first 'proper' haircut at a children's hairdressers this week too - mostly because we're going to the wedding and my wonky haircutting skills would be forever shown up on film!!!

Anyway, hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine!

Blatherskite · 25/04/2011 20:38

Ooh Northampton....means you're only a 20 minute drive from my house Hercule.... :)

AmazingBouncingFerret · 26/04/2011 18:21

Hello everyone I'm baaaaaaack! Grin

Ive been sporadically lurking for the past week but have been off my face on very strong painkillers so have tried to refrain from posting for fear of saying something weirder than normal.

I'm in agony. Well not so much anymore but I do like to complain. It doesnt hurt so much now but it's very uncomfortable and the clunky numb feelings around my spine are very stomach churning.

The operation didnt go as planned unfortunately. My surgeon managed to straighten the bottom curve which was great but when he tried to do some minimal correction to the top, more severe curve the monitors that were checking on my nerve connections went down and they had to wake me up. I was still on the op table with my back opened up aswell! I was paralysed. They stabbed at me with sharp implements for about an hour until feeling came back thank god! Another bad thing was I had a breathing tube taped to my mouth so I chewed the inside of my mouth to pieces whist I was awake. Luckily for me I dont remember anything about that!! The surgeon decided it best not to go ahead with the rib shortening and to leave it at that.

It has left me about a stone lighter and 2 inches taller. I'm very impressed with the results!

MrsHerculePoirot · 26/04/2011 19:05

Hi ABF! Glad you are back and impressed with the results, hope the pain goes for you soon.

Blathers we're actually near Eydon I think just south west of Northampton - am very much looking forward to it!

Blatherskite · 26/04/2011 20:11

Oooh ABF, I know it's wrong but I'm actually quite jealous as I would do almost anything to be a stone lighter and 2 inches taller!!

Sorry it all went a bit pear shaped but I'm glad you're on the mend now. I hope you're back to normal very soon.

I had to check Google for Eydon Hercule Blush It's about 50 minutes from here as it's all back roads out towards Daventry rather than the quick motorway hop to Northampton. Hope you have a lovely time :)

LifeOfKate · 26/04/2011 21:11

Goodness, ABF, that sounds horrible and scary! But then I'm getting myself in a tiss over a possible ELCS in August, so maybe I'm just a wuss when it comes to surgery Blush

Looks like everyone has been enjoying the good weather, we have :o Life is soooo much easier now Noah can walk well, we actually nipped into the post office and the supermarket today (although he sat in the trolley in the supermarket) without the pram, so exciting! He is ever so good as well, holds my hand very well and only had a minor tantrum in the queue at the post office because the parcel was too heavy for him to hold. To be fair, I often feel like having a tantrum in the post office too, so don't really blame him! :o

Glad that A loves the backpack - they are so cute wearing them aren't they?

I went back to school yesterday, but finished again today, I could get used to these two day weeks with long weekends!!! Not long now until study leave which always makes the rest of the term fly by. I had to take Imogen into work for a 6th form general studies afternoon on baby development and parenting - she was so good while we had 6 groups of 6th formers come round, watch her and ask questions. She was running around the school at lunchtime smiling at all the boys and showing them her book - bless her!

Imogen seemed excited to be at the childminders again which is good, I was worried she would have forgotten how much she likes it after 3 weeks, but not so much as a glance back and she sauntered off to play!!!!

Off tomorrow to BIL wedding, am very excited about our mini-holiday, we are supposed to be packing, but I have just made hot cross bun and butter pudding to use up the last of my hot cross buns and now DH has discovered Raiders of the lost Ark is on... oh well...
