evening all Smile

june, if you're happy to stick with C for now and not have any more then that's all that matters!! People always seem to feel the need to comment on the number of children you have whether you have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or more, believe me. Don't let it bother you Smile Hope C's feeling better, my lot are strange and actually like medicine Hmm in fact I often have a queue form when the calpol comes out Grin

gauchita, how's M doing, is there a lot she's allergic too? Party sounds good, shame about the tiger, they do tend to be quite scary to small children though, I've not met many that like them at this age. Oh my, 2 visits to ikea in a week, more power to your dh, he's a brave man Grin Hope D's feeling better.

well we are doing the house of pox part 2 currently, unfortunately E isn't getting off as lightly as dd3 did and has a lot more spots, especially in his hair. He seems to be feeling fine in himself, still charging around all over the place, just not sleeping great so is spending part of the night in with us [yawn] I've got out of the habit of waking in the night!

dd3's 1:1 has left now so this week could be interesting but at least it's her birthday midweek so they're throwing her a party at school, can't wait, it'll be lovely Smile But there's another teacher strike on wednesday so just waiting to see who I end up with at home, knowing our luck the birthday girl will be in school and the others home!

waves to all Smile

snowwombat · 26/03/2012 19:18

Oh my, it has been 3 weeks since I have been on. Have managed a lovely holiday and 3 short work trips in that time, currently waiting for a train to get home from a trip oop north.
How is everyone?
gauchita it is so hard when the big sibling hurts the little one.after being great for ages, a has bitten z 3 times this week. I am mean mummy.time out and warning about toy confiscation first then a follow through if he does it again.not easy and I get v frustrated with him.
ninja CP again, oh hell.what does dd3 want for her birthday?how soon will school replace her one to one?
juneI really feel for you about not feeling ready for another baby. You know you can have just c or a big gap if you want, and you shouldn't feel like you have to justify either choice to anyone

snowwombat · 26/03/2012 19:25

zhen how are you getting on?are the renovations finished? Are you managing the two Ns ok?is big n doing ok with her little sister? and little n?how are your nights?thinking of you

vene Wow,congratulations on your wedding. What wonderful news. Glad life with the kids settling down a little. Have you launched your business yet?good luck with that.

Things ok here.work still stupidly busy and travel should settle down mid April I hope. Not going anywhere next week or the week after.spending Easter painting the flat.v exciting.

Sorry to be away so long.no internet access on hols coupled with a few big deadlines last 2weeks has meant no mumsnet. I missed you!

snowwombat · 26/03/2012 19:27

And one final thing, we really need to try and get this thread finished before June!

Gauchita · 26/03/2012 21:24

Snow, I was going to say the same thing! Just the other day I saw we were in the early 800s and I thought "we have to finish it before they're 3!" Grin So...let's help a bit.

Gauchita · 26/03/2012 21:24
Grin
Gauchita · 26/03/2012 21:46

Nah, seriously.

Snow, glad you've had some nice past weeks both with work and some leisure in the middle as well Smile Gah, sorry to hear you're having the same at home, it can be so frustrating, isn't it? Are you decorating the flat back in O to put it for rent?

Ninja, oh poor E! Hope it passes soon, how uncomfortable it must be for him to have an itchy scalp! Did you know about DD3's 1-1 leaving? Was it something planned or sudden? Hope they find someone new for her soon and that she likes him/her just as much Smile They've been doing a brilliant job and have given you so much reassurance as to what her education and care is like now I'd be very surprised if they continue to do so re. this. Which day is her bday?

D's feeling better. Still very chesty and snotty, hope it all clears soon.

Right, advice request time Blush

A friend of M's from nursery sucks her thumb, when sleepy, upset, etc. We've noticed that in the past two weeks M will do it out of the blue right after we say something to her (due to her hitting D or throwing something, etc). We asked her who did that, as it wasn't something she ever did, and she replied "X does it". How can we discourage it without actually "telling her off" for it.

Gah, I forgot what the other question was Blush Grin

Oh well, I'll remember... eventually.

On another note, I've bought a pair of trainers and a DVD so the days when I resume some sort of physical activity are getting nearer. Once they both arrive, that is Grin I can already feel the post-workout pain Grin

DH tonight at some gala dinner thing, oh the hard life some people have, right? Wink

snowwombat · 27/03/2012 21:02

gauchita Grin Grin Grin

snowwombat · 27/03/2012 21:10

oh, the questions. Umm, I have no idea about M's special friend except maybe to try not asking her who did that? Grin.

Good on you about the trainers. I am home the next 10 days, and I might just dust off the shred. What DVD did you get?

As to O, yes, you are correct, we need to rent it out, can't afford to leave it empty. Could use the rent money for a trip home this year. I hope we find a tenant quickly. How is your new place going??

I'm going to try and have an early night. Crappy 5 hr drive home today. Thank goodness the kids were great.

Gauchita · 27/03/2012 21:33

Hey snow

Well, this girl from nursery does it, it was her birthday last weekend and I could confirm that what M had told me was true Grin She didn't do it at all today, it usually happens after a nursery day, of course

I got the Shred as well Blush I couldn't think of another one and I had read some rave reviews here so Grin I started today - even though trainers hadn't arrived- and as soon as I finished it I was already hurting Grin Totally unfit, me, yes. I had forgotten I have a 10-kg baby to hold most of the day tomorrow

How did the decorating go at the flat? Hope you managed to get it all ready, and that you have a tenant (and a good one) soon Smile

We had another glorious day here, 19-20 degrees, really hope this is not our summer and then by June it'll be all rain Grin

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 28/03/2012 09:01

morning all Smile

gauchita, I think the thumb thing is one of those 'ignore' things, it's probably just one of those novelty things that'll wear off on its own, especially if she only does it on nursery days. Hope you've not too many aches today, did you take my advice Grin

snow, wow you know how to have fun, easter with a paint brush Grin hope you can find a tenant soon. Although I hope you're getting a bit of time to put your feet up, sounds manic!

we knew a few weeks back that dd3's 1:1 was going, she's already been replaced and dd3 is trying her luck with her Grin just have everything crossed things go as smoothly as possible. School threw her a birthday party yesterday which was absolutley lovely, it's her birthday today and the escort and bus driver have got her a present, I can't believe how lovely everyone has been, has brought a tear to my eye [sniff] Dd3 is hoping for yet another buggy for her dolly and a macdonalds for her tea, dd1 is hoping to get back from uni today as well so that will be a nice surprise for her.

in not so good news, monday we were all really worried that 37 yo dbil had had a stroke, yesterday we found out his 'stroke' is a brain tumour, today we're all wishing he'd 'just' had a stroke Sad

Gauchita · 28/03/2012 10:05

Oh Ninja, so sorry to hear that Sad How is he? Is he in hospital or at home? Are they doing some tests? Sad

How lovely what they did for DD3's birthday! She must have had a huge smile on her face. They're so lovely at school with her, it's so nice to see that. Happy birthday to her today!!! Hope she has a marvellous day Smile

I'm aching, and badly. It seems I more or less use my leg muscles daily as they don't hurt, but my arms and my chest aches like there's no tomorrow Grin Lifting and holding D is proving a challenge today ha! No choc here as I don't like it - odd, I know. M had some for me, though Hmm She happily volunteers Grin

Re. thumb, ok, I'll try to ignore Wink

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 28/03/2012 11:51

thanks gauchita Smile He's in a stroke unit at the moment so he's had all the standard tests/scans for that which is how they found the tumour, they've been really good with him so far but obviously this isn't their specialism, they're getting his paperwork sent somewhere once completed for a meeting tomorrow to see what's going to happen, when and where. So we've just got to wait the outcome from that meeting really, sounds like it's treatable but they're obviously being very vague at this stage until the specialist has had a look. His wife is expecting their first baby together (they already have 3 girls between them) in may, life is shit. He was okish on monday when dh saw him, but they've not spoken since we heard the news last night, dh is hoping to get over there again tomorrow or friday.

dd3 had a ball yesterday, she was delighted with her party, she got to invite some friends from another class too Smile I've not long had a phonecall from her teacher of the deaf who was in school this morning and apparently she's on full form and loving the attention today. Such a change from last year!

snowwombat · 28/03/2012 22:32

ninja how awful for your BIL, I hope they get him to a neurosurgery unit soon. His poor wife, the stress must be horrific.
On a happier note, how wonderful to read what a fabulous birthday dd3 had and how special a job school did. All your hard work and persistance paid off,now she is being given the best care at school.hope the new one to one is great too.

gauchita you go girl, top marks on the shred effort if you are this sore already. Think of the muscles, you've done enough to stimulate them.

I've posted in chat tryng to find a thread about replacing silicon selant and cleaning mould off the bloody stuff.was recent but I cannot find it.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 29/03/2012 09:09

thanks snow Smile I don't know whether they'll go straight for surgery or go the chemo/radiotherapy first route, I'm hoping they can avoid the radiotherapy bit though. I think dd3's new 1:1 will be fine, she's just got to discover for herself that dd3 is currently running rings round her, she'll get there though, she's put a stop to one thing already Grin Found this and
this don't know if that's what you were after?

gauchita, how are the aches today? Oh bless M for helping out with the chocolate eating, must be hard for her Grin

ZhenThereWereTwo · 30/03/2012 15:31

Hi everyone :)

Ninja so sorry to hear about BIL, I hope that they get him seen by neurosurgeons swiftly. Glad to hear dd3 is back on form and hope that new 1:1 is working out. How is E?

Vene nice to hear from you, congratulations on your wedding :)

Gauchita glad gastro bugs are over and D is back to eating again. How is M now with him after the spoon incident? I haven't had any such incidents yet with big N, but it is early days. Hope you are not too sore after the shred. I am hoping to start with swimming and qi gong next week as gentle exercise as little N should be able to start taking the odd expressed milk bottle from DH.

Snow did you find your thread? Hope all is well with you and the kids and that the decorating went well.

June if and when you are ready to have another child it will you and DH's business, what others choose is right for them, what you choose is right for you and no reflection on their choice. Hope you have had more luck getting C to take anti-bs.

Well got back last friday from week away at my aunt and uncles so they could finish the works. We now have a finished bathroom and kitchen except for the hole for the drier to extract through wall which requires big diamond drill again so will be done on tuesday while I take N's to playgroup.

I am mending well, little N has become a cluster feeder (she is now 4.2kg and packing on the weight), which is difficult at times so have bought a stretchy wrap sling and am going to practise feeding in it so I can have hands free.

Big N is really good with baby, she helps me change nappies and is completely potty trained night and day now with no accidents (she even wakes up and asks to use potty at night), will be moving onto toilet next week once I can lift again.

Gauchita · 02/04/2012 13:12

Marking place!

snowwombat · 04/04/2012 00:15

Hi girls, well it is late here and DH and I have just had another huge argument Sad.so many things going on at the moment. I have taken on a one month project in addition to the usual work, so I am stressed. He is waiting to here if short listed for job here but doesn't think he will be appointed even if shortlisted, as there is another guy doing a locum too and he thinks they want him. I am sick of doing all the thinking/shopping/prep/cooking of meals and have told him I will not be making all his meals while I am away. Oh and I have two overnight trips in the next 2 weeks and I am killing myself to get home quickly, even if it means an 20hr day and midnight arrival home. Grrrr.
Kids are in top form although A is having some spectacular tantrums. He is potty training though and only 2 accidents in the last 2 days. Have only ventured out for an hour though (wuss). Will try playgroup tom and see how he goes. z is walking most of the time and suddenly very snuggle which is lovely.
Decorating this weekend, thank god the GPs are coming to referee help us

gauchita did you get snow?
zhen so pleased house almost finished and the n's in good form
ninja did dd3 get a nice surprise with her big sister at home. Guess things v busy st yours this week
june C ok? You ok?

Better get some work done.night juners, thanks for letting me moan

Gauchita · 04/04/2012 11:34

Morning all,
Snow, oh Sad ((hug)) You have so much going on right now, the least you need problems at home as well. He needs to realise he has to help you at home, you're both working so it needs to be 50/50. Now I don't mean to add to your stress but you need to stop preparing his meals for when you're away, you have pretty much on your plate as it is! He's a grown man and more than capable of cooking some food for himself.
Good luck with A's potty training, sounds like he's doing really well.

Zhen, glad to hear things are going well with the girls and that it seems you're entering the last stage of the repairs at home. Fingers crossed! Jealousy seems to have "plateaud" for the moment. There're still incidents now and then but she's doing better.

Ninja, how's your BIL? Any news from the specialist team? Thinking of you all. I saw some pics of DD3's bday on FB, she looked happy with her dolly's pram Smile

Hope everyone's well.

Snow here, and lots of it! It started in the early hours last night and it's still going, albeit much less now. Not a fan of driving in the snow but I have to go out. I've officially returned from mat leave and I'm back helping DH and his boss at work. D goes in with me, family friendly and all that Grin He's quite good, basically feeds or sleeps most of the time Grin

We're I'm still going strong on the decoration front, buying bits here and there and getting some life into our house to make it a home Smile I have some picture frames up but still no pictures in them Grin I think pic prints will be arriving either today or tomorrow.

D's BLW is going slowly. He still gags quite a bit and gets frustrated as he definitely enjoys what he tries but I think he wants to "eat" more ha!

We've moved him to M's room, and he usually stays there until 1am, when he usually wakes for a feed and I'm too tired lazy so I bring him over to our bed Blush

Right, off to have lunch with the DC!

snowwombat · 04/04/2012 16:17

Thanks so much gauchita I am not cooking anything for him, just sorting kids meals for when nanny is here. Thankfully I found a temp nanny through an agency. She starts next week and appears to be a bit of a Mary poppins.

Sounds like you are slowly getting the house in order. We will finally get the rest of our crap out of the loft this weekend.

Snow/sleet here today.what a contrast to Sunday when the kids ran around naked in the garden.

bigcar any word on your bil?

Crazy kids here today, they are so loud.favourite game scream as high pitched as possible then call and response between them getting louder and more high pitched. Joy.

Gauchita · 05/04/2012 20:07

Oh, my mistake, Snow... I misunderstood the meal thing Grin Great news on the nanny front, hopefully that will be a load off your shoulders with worry!

Hope things are home are calmer.

Oh, screamy schreechy type of voice is a favourite here as well Grin The joys huh!?

DH stayed at work a bit longer today but I managed to do dinner, bath for both and put them in bed at both at the same time Bath time was tricky as by this time (6.30) D is super ready for bed and doesn't like waiting to be dressed and taken to bed, he wants to leave the bath and immediately appear dry, dressed and tucked Hmm Grin

Skillbo · 05/04/2012 22:17

Sorry i've been awol for so long, having 2 is a bit of a culture shock as i am sure several of you know :-)

Am going to have a read and will be back provided my poor sleep deprived brain can remember! O is not a good sleeper sadly...

Glad to see our thread still going strong though :-)

Skillbo · 05/04/2012 22:39

Just a quick update:

ninja - so sorry to hear your news about dbil... big hugs to all of you, hope your sil is doing ok, can't imagine.

guachita - sounds like its all go. Is M still a bit jealous? I think J has just about got over it all now but she's pretty heavy handed so can't be trusted alone for long!

snow - am always blown away with how hectic your life is yet how together you are... Amazing!

June - sounds like you have the medicine we had over xmas... We tried bribery (chocolate coins worked, ish) but she hated it and it put her off all medicine for long time... Good luck! And have as many or as few dc as you want - no-ones business but yours!

vene - huge congrats!

Right - bed... Take care lovely lovely juners :-)

Skillbo · 05/04/2012 22:43

Oh and in an effort to hit that magic 1000 posts - J broke her arm yesterday... Sad Bloody ikea!

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 06/04/2012 17:49

afternoon [busmile] easter smileys!!

skillbo, I suggest you sue Ikea, make sure to demand payment in meatballs and trofast storage though [bugrin] Hope J is ok and heals quickly, I have to ask who/what the strange music was, sounds bizare? How's O getting on? He looked quite grown up in the photo you had on fb the other week, such a sweetie [busmile]

snow, I will join the screechy club with gauchita too, dd3 and E were practicing just that in the car this morning [fingers in ears] tis a good game apparently. Hope the weekend is going ok and dh is on best behaviour, when does he hear about the job?

gauchita, has the snow all gone? It didn't make it this far south, just got about 2 minutes of sleet and that was it, no wonder we have a hosepipe ban! How's going back to work going? Good you can take D with you. Well done on getting them all in bed on time [busmile]

zhen, how's the house now, does that mean all the work is finished now? Good to hear big N is being so helpful [busmile]

dd3 had a great birthday, new buggy I think was her favourite pressie! She was so tired by the end of last week, holiday was most definitely needed. E is just a bit scabby now after his chicken pox, he didn't do too badly I don't think, just a shame he missed so much preschool, he loves it there, roll on september and the funding for a place every morning.

not much news on bil, we went to visit last weekend, he seems relatively ok considering, sil looked completely washed out trying to keep track of everything as bil's memory has been affected. They've just sort of been left until the next appointment in just over a weeks time as they discharged him over a week ago, the neurologist rang with an appointment for a pet scan and a quick chat but that's it until the results of the scan, so they're in limbo really until then. Not great, but they need the better scan to decide what to do, just obviously the more the delay, the closer they get to sil's due date.

waves to all [busmile]
