Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ZhenXiang · 19/07/2011 16:17

Take it easy today Snow you are allowed to grieve. My cousin and his wife lost their first son at birth and although their son and daughter are now 11 and 8 they still talk about him to the children and commemorate his birth. In the years to come maybe you can think of a way that you can all commemorate DS1 together as a family on this day.

I also agree with you that it is not fair on the kids and the SAHP if the working parent does not spend time with the kids as soon as they come in. I take over from DH when I come in as I want to spend as much time as possible with N, I play with her and do bathtime and bed time stories after we all have dinner together before I take time for myself.

Thinking of you xx

Gauchitaconpanza · 19/07/2011 21:05

Evening all! The thread disappeared from the "threads I'm on", I didn't realise I had been away for so long Shock Grin

Anyway, let's catch up!

Snow, sending you a big hug. Hope you managed to take that walk with Z and have some yummy cake as well today. As Zhen said, take it easy. Remembering him each year is special for you, and it should be. Again, I'm very sorry for your loss Sad

Are your plans to go to BA back on then? Sorry to hear DH didn't get the job, though. Yes, 34 weeks tomorrow, and I couldn't be less ready Grin I started thinking today of all the things I must start doing Baby's still in the wrong position, sort of transverse. I wonder how much more I need to spend on all fours Hmm I'm on that ball as much as I can!

Zhen, oooooh not long now for your freedom! Grin Any plans for the holidays? Cough is better, slightly Grin My dad suggested using the nebuliser a few times a day for 20 mins and it's made quite a difference since Sunday Blush

Vene, wow!!! Congratulations! Fantastic news! How exciting to be free to just take off whenever you want Smile Oh I bet you'll have a fantastic time wherever you go. Where are you going this Saturday then, France? Or is that one for later on? Oh, great news on the job front for your DH! Congratulations to him Smile I guess I won't see you until the baby's here Grin (I'm due 1st September) Oh, also, congratulations on your job front! (It's all good news!! Grin) Word of mouth is the best in these cases, isn't it?

Ninja, so??? all finished now??? People moved??? Grin I bet you'll need a Wine when it's all over, and you deserve it, lady!! It's been quite a few weeks of hard work.

Right, no news on DH's return yet Sad But then again, they said 15 to 20 working days and we're on number 12 That bleddy post-it with ASAP written on it had better work soon!

I'm exhausted ladies, and I know that's all I've been saying these last two and a half weeks but I can't help it Grin I'm knackered! My eyes are literally closing at the moment, how sad is that!

AND I had to turn down two long projects that were worth around ?1000 because without DH here it'd have meant working late nights and ignoring Mila during the day all day, and all weekend Sod's law, bloody great timing for them to come up, huh? I need this man to come back soon

Anyway, off to bed soon.

Waves to all!

Gauchitaconpanza · 21/07/2011 21:15

Hi ladies!

A quick post just to share some news. DH is coming back! Permits granted and documents on the way Smile He'll be flying either tomorrow or Monday (depending on when the docs arrive) so yay!!!! So so happy Smile

Hope everyone is well, waves!

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 21/07/2011 22:04

fantastic news Grin

ZhenXiang · 21/07/2011 23:26

Great news, you must be very relieved Grin

Gauchitaconpanza · 24/07/2011 21:35

Evening all!

Wow, it's been really quiet here.

Thanks for your messages re. our news Smile Yes, I'm very relieved! Although we've found a bump in the way... Someone from the document centre managed to make a tiny Hmm mistake and they shipped the documents to the UK instead of BA, where DH is Hmm Shock Angry Luckily they had sent DH a tracking code and he realised just as they had picked up the parcel. He contacted Fedex and begged them to stop the parcel and return it to the centre. He spoke to a supervisor and apparently he managed to do it as the tracking says it's not on its way here. Can you believe this? Grin I can't!! So, a few more days to wait, oh well...

Hope you're all OK. Zhen, how are you feeling these days?

Waves!

ZhenXiang · 24/07/2011 22:00

Hey Gauchita,

Am not too bad these days, have hit the 8 week mark, sickness seems to be manageable, but I am very, very tired. Have napped in the afternoon for the last two days, catching up from term time and I am nursing a cold too.

Poor DD she was so happy to see me when she woke up on Saturday morning and I was there still, but have not been a fun playmate as per usual. At least I have the next 6 weeks to make it up to her.

How annoying about the paperwork, bureacracy is the same everywhere isn't it?! Human error always throws a spanner in the works. Glad your DH managed to intercept before Fedex shipped the paperwork, a few days is infinitely preferable to another few weeks.

Hi to everyone else, hope life is treating you well :)

snowwombat · 25/07/2011 14:16

oooh, gauchita thank goodness DH intercepted the paperwork. Was it a home office mistake? So pleased the visas have come through and it will only be a few more days left to wait. V V V annoying that someone could stuff up something so important, both with the mistake on the paperwork, and then sending it to UK!

bugger, Z started crying. She is supposd to be asleep. She only had 20mins this morning.
Hopefully will be back soon.

June2009 · 25/07/2011 15:04

heya, quick hello from me gauchita great news about the paperwork, I hope it gets to the right place soon! Fedex are usually quite good, aren't they.
C jumped out of her cot at the weekend (only hurt a feet a little bit thankfully!) so we've taken the side off and now she can just walk out of her bed, and she does so about 10 times before I have to pin her down...
little rascal has just woken up from her nap and come to see me in the office :) better go!

snowwombat · 25/07/2011 19:32

Finally made it back Grin
How beautiful is the weather today.took z to the local playgroup this morning, was very well equipped.sat outside and played, met some nice mums

june glad c is ok after her climbing adventure.we are just waiting for A to do it too.cot side remains on for now

zhen 8 weeks already!glad you are resting up.any trips planned for the hols or just lots of relaxing st home

snowwombat · 25/07/2011 19:39

Whoops,posted before I meant too.bloody phone.

We ok here, thanks for the lovely words of support last week.dh and I went out for dinner. Z and I popped to church and spent some quiet time. Helps that our local is a gorgeous Norman church, very peaceful.

We are up in the air with dh's job.he didn't get it initially but they have created another locum and offered it to him.only problem, they want someone straight away and he has commitments here for at least 6weeks. No idea what we going to do.waiting to chat with his bosses, conveniently both on leave.aargh. throws work trips into chaos again.

Gauchitaconpanza · 25/07/2011 21:39

Evening all!

Zhen, oh you must be so happy! Holidays at last!! Rest as much as you can and enjoy your time with N Smile How lovely in 6 weeks you'll be into your second trimester and hopefully all tiredness and queasiness will have vanished by then Smile Any plans for the holidays?

Snow, hi! I think it's a HO centre, yes. Thank God the parcel was stopped and returned to the centre. They had the cheek of emailing him today (I guess because they didn't like the fact he had complained and stopped the parcel) saying they had sent it to our address here as it was the only address in the paperwork Hmm LIE! There was a specific box that asked to which address they were supposed to send them! Grrr...

Glad to hear you allowed yourself some time last week to dedicate to DS1. Tough one re. DH's job, the fact the need someone NOW and his bosses are away, man... he must be a bit stressed about it. And it now might affect your travel plans as well, not good. Is there anything he can do to contact his bosses or get them to discuss this asap?

June, ouch, poor C, hope her foot is OK. In my experience they try and get down a lot at the beginning, I guess the "new" factor is key there. But the novelty starts wearing off after a bit Smile How's work? Hope things are not too busy after your holidays. And yes, Fedex was fantastic. They obviously had to follow security protocol and couldn't redirect it to DH directly but at least they stopped it and returned it to the document centre! Smile

Ninja, how are things at home with the DC off school? Hope they're entertaining themselves Wink

Right, it seems DH might be able to fly on Thursday, yay... fingers crossed, though! Grin Nothing would surprise me much now Grin

I don't seem to be able to shake this cough off completely Sad I really don't want to go into labour and still be coughing Hmm I might have to take in a humidifier if that's the case Grin

Baby still trying to turn, hope it happens soon!

Waves to all

Gauchitaconpanza · 27/07/2011 08:09

Hi ladies

Oh, I know this is going to sound like a hormonal moan but DH told me a few hours ago the airport in BA is closed due to the volcanic ash from Chile Sad Man, it'd been a month without any disruptions and now, NOW it spews some more!?!?!? Sad I feel I could cry... He was supposed to fly tomorrow but even if the airport is open, flights are going to be so overbooked due to the delays it's very very unlikely he'll be able to fly anyway...

Off to the MW soon, bloods today, fingers crossed for my iron levels to have gone up!

Hope you all have a good day Smile

snowwombat · 27/07/2011 09:31

oh gauchita a big hug from me. You are not having a rant at all. You have managed so well without DH, and it has not been easy. It must be so frustrating to have him so close to coming home but another obstacle in the way. Apart from the MW appt, have you got something nice to do today? How has M been?

I hope the ash cloud moves away quickly

Gauchitaconpanza · 27/07/2011 10:22

Snow, thanks, I feel pathetic moaning to be honest but I appreciate the hug, much needed now. I can't moan with anybody else Grin So I turn to you ladies Grin

Tomorrow it'll be a month since DH went away, it's the longest we've been apart and I think I wouldn't find it half as hard if I weren't heavily pg. Oh well... funny how I said in my post the other day "nothing would surprise me much now" Grin Well, bloody volcano Grin M's being great actually, bedtime is a little hard these days, I think I need to tire her more, ha!

MW appt went well, she took my bloods and will call me tomorrow with the results. She had a good feel (it was the head MW today, yay!) and said the baby is not transverse anymore, but seems to be head down, engaged, but, wait for it... back to back, yikes! She said if next time she isn't 100% sure she'll send me for a scan. Well, at least he seems to be head down, right? Grin

Any news on DH's job front? Or your trip? Hope Z is sleeping a bit better these days. How's A's biting? Has it calmed down a bit?

Off to work at noon so not too much fun planned for me. Waves!

June2009 · 27/07/2011 18:29

Gauchita you're doing so great, i don't thinkni would cope very well without dh for a week tbh, Nevermind pregnant and for a whole month. Hopefully he'll be here soon. Sending you big hugs.
Im tired atm, lots of work on, Plenty of tantrums to deal with and very little sleep.

Vene hope your trip is going wellxx we're going to france at the end of august and im really looking forward to it.

Snow, goose hope zhen etc hope u're all well sorry really seemmto not have much time to catch up atm or post properly!

We should think of our next meet up :)

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 27/07/2011 19:12

evening all Smile

too true june, where has all the time gone, manic here with the dcs home! No sleep is not fun, hope C is ok now.

gauchita, that's crap, hope dh gets home soon you're doing fine, I'd be climbing the walls too, pregnant or not! Will keep fingers crossed bloods come back ok.

snow, any news on the job front, sounds stressful?

zhen, hope all's well with you, summer hols fallen at the right time really haven't they Smile

vene, enjoy your travels, sounds great Smile

must dash, waves to all Smile

snowwombat · 28/07/2011 00:13

evening girls, my brain feels a bit wired, so I have come here to wind down a little. Great to see a few of us around. Of course vene is hopefully on route to France, with the caraven in tow. Envy.

Well, I shouldn't be too jealous, the reason my brain is so fried is trying to work out the 6 trips away in the next 2 months. 5 abroad and only one of them a holiday. The childcare logistics are a challenge Grin to put it midly.

ninja thanks for asking about the job. After much soul searching DH has turned it down and we will stay here for another 6 months. Hopefully he will find something in that time. The plus side is that it means I am not lugging two children abroad and trying to find babysitters etc for each visit. He might even take a day or two off to mind A when I am stateside, rather than put him in nursery every day.

june why is the sleep situation so bad?C still getting out of bed lots?

gauchita you know you are doing such an amazing job. I crack the shits after 48hrs solo and you have done this month, heavily pregnant, with M and working. Incredible. When DH gets home, he better take the lion share of EVERYTHING for a while (and get that cleaner back on a regular basis)
I will take Z to BA, the hotel has a babysitting service and I will keep her near me at all times, just have her taken for a walk when i am teaching. If she behaves like she currently is, she will be a dream. Of course she won't, there will be teeth and all sorts of shenanigans going on by then.

A was OP, Z spent some time in the position too. My very epxerienced midwife friend say most will turn in labour, you can keep trying to avoid sitting with knees higher than hips and sit straddling a chair if you want (although this will completely irritate your SPD). Hands and knees good too, but tiring. I used to get the fit ball on the floor and just drape myself over that. Did try acupuncture, and although relaxing, didn't help turn either child.

zhen how is the first week of holidays feeling? Starting to catch up a little?

A has had a glowing report from nursery this week, he was bitten twice but did not retaliate and didn't bite anyone else. Yippee. Maybe we are starting to come out the other side? He is truly delightful at the moment, so so affectionate. His language is really coming on and he is trying so hard with new words. I got 'love you mummy' tonight. Sob.

Z seems to be gtting back on track with sleeping. Well, apart from the past three nights. She was going through till 3. Lovely! It is past midnight now and I went in at 10 for a dream feed. Fingers crossed we might go till 3 at least.
Weaning is now going well. She had bolognaise for dinner. Loves strawberries and is spending most meal times in a nappy as I cannot be bothered with even more changes of clothes on top of the vomits. Reflux is much, much better, she is so calm, but still chucking. Hmm. she has two double chins with our recent weight gain Grin.

I must get myself to bed.

ZhenXiang · 29/07/2011 21:55

Hi everyone,

Gauchita - gah, I can only imagine how frustrated you are having waited so long, fingers crossed the ash will start blowing in another direction soon so DH can get home.

June - N has been in cot without sides since 16 months, once the novelty wears off C will stop escaping, at the moment see is just testing her new found freedom. Luckily for us our baby monitor alarms when N gets out of the cot, it was a massive deterrent and she used to climb back in after a while as she knew she would get in trouble.

Snow - glad to hear that you have sorted out the work situation and that Z is gaining so fast. It is so nice when they tell you they love you isn't it, makes your heart melt.

Vene - hope you are having fun in that camper van.

Holidays not really happening for me at the moment. My MIL, who was like another mother to me passed away on Wednesday morning, it was very sudden and she was in a lot of pain at the end. At the moment we are just trying to come to terms with the loss of the heart of the family, trying to get her affairs in order and organise the funeral arrangements. DH is devastated :(

Gauchitaconpanza · 29/07/2011 22:12

Evening all!

Thanks again for all your messages re. my big moan the other day Smile

June, sorry to hear things are so hectic these days. Is C having problems to sleep? How's bath time going? Hope it's still improving Smile Oh, another meet-up would be fab, it'll be a year since the first one in September Smile

Snow, wow, lots to do! 6 trips, busy bee Grin Fab news that your BA trip is likely to happen and great to hear the hotel offers a babysitting service Smile When would the trip be? At the moment it's winter there, but on 21st September spring starts! Grin Also great news on Z's weight gain and feeding. Hopefully the reflux will stop soon for good Smile Oh, and yay for A not biting back!!! What an accomplishment, well done A Smile Thanks for the tips re. positions. I'm typing on a bench position at the moment Grin My elbows don't enjoy it as much but not everyone can win, right? Grin

Ninja, hope holidays are going well Smile Any plans to go somewhere with the DC?

Zhen, I hope you're putting your feet up, lady Wink Rest as much as you can, make the most of this free time just relaxing and playing with N Smile Hope you're feeling well.

Vene, hope you're having a great time in France! Smile

Right, no DH here yet. He got his documents yesterday and went to the airport but as we expected flights were overbooked to the roof and he couldn't fly. He's at the airport at the moment to try again but the people from the airline told him things don't look good either today or tomorrow so he's likely to be able to travel on Sunday. I really really really really can't get my hopes up anymore, sounds pessimistic but at least I don't feel like crying Grin

Nesting has kicked in BADLY here Grin I think today I overdid it a little bit when the cleaning lady came over, though, as the baby started moving A LOT. I think he was/is trying to change positions but it hurt quite a bit and left me with lots of BHs for hours. At around 3pm I started feeling better, thankfully. Our lovely boss sent over his "handyman" to assemble the baby's cotbed Grin as I told him I was a bit useless (and the whole room needed re-arranging for it to fit and I couldn't do that) and that DH would probably do it only after the baby was born Grin Anyway, the gentleman did it in 30 mins! Absolutely brilliant, plus he moved all the furniture around to make room for the cot so everything looks great now Smile

Yesterday I did a little shopping for newborn clothes as well, because I realised I only had 3 things, a vest, a sleepsuit and a long-sleeved vest, oh and a hat Grin I also need fitted sheets and a cot bumper so more shopping to be done Wink

Hope everyone has a great weekend, waves!

Gauchitaconpanza · 29/07/2011 22:15

Zhen, x post!

So sorry to hear about your MIL Sad I'm sorry for your loss Sad Be kind to yourselves and (((hug))) xxx

snowwombat · 29/07/2011 22:48

oh zhen how awful for you. I am very sorry for the loss of your MIL. It all must feel very surreal. Thinking of you.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 29/07/2011 23:36

zhen, so sorry to hear of your loss ((((hugs))))

June2009 · 30/07/2011 13:44

zhen so sorry about your mil :(:( It's horrible take care of yourself xx

gauchita your boss sounds amazing!
C's bathtime is OK. She gets in now, doesn't like me to wash her hair but I think that's quite "normal". We're up to two baths a week, better than nothing!
re: sleeping, we're getting there, she only wake sup once at night , gets up, and we just tell her to go back to sleep and she usually does after a couple of goes.
I can hear her upstairs now, awake from her nap, but I'm not sure what she's up to, I'd better go and check it out!
take care juners!

Gauchitaconpanza · 01/08/2011 09:05

Morning all,

Zhen, thinking of you. xxx

June, glad to hear bath time is going well Smile

Well, DH tried to fly Thursday, Friday and Saturday to no avail. Last night things looked grim but he sent me a text saying he was boarding the plane! Let's hope there's no availability trouble at his next stop

Back later, M's calling.
