TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 27/04/2011 15:47

have a great time snow, still waiting for my diamond Grin

ZhenXiang · 27/04/2011 21:38

Have a great time in Oz Snow :)

Gauchitaconpanza · 29/04/2011 10:21

Morning ladies,

Is it just me and my pregnancy hormones? I just found myself getting all welled up at seeing the Princes leave C. House Grin Anyone else watching? Ninja??

I can't imagine how nervous KM is!!!

Hope everyone's OK. Back later for a catch-up.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 29/04/2011 12:45

oh yes, I'm watching [cgrin] lovely frock! Just waiting for the balcony and then off to take dd2 and ds1 to scout camp. Have fun ladies [csmile]

venetianred · 01/05/2011 09:31

Did you see the bags under her eyes on the close ups. She can't have got much sleep poor thing. She looked absolutely stunning.

Gauchitaconpanza · 03/05/2011 09:10

Morning all!

Thread has gone quiet Grin

Snow, hope you're having a great time!

Ninja, hope DD2 and DS1 enjoyed their camp time Smile

Zhen, Grin how funny! I can imagine N running after footballs and stealing them Grin Hope the move went well, I guess it'll be a few days until you have internet and all, what with all the BT and internet connections. Oh well done N for doing a poo in the potty! We have the odd occasion, but she prefers telling me AFTER she's done it all Hmm

What a long weekend, huh? DH had to work anyway so for me it was a regular day Hmm I've talked to DH, I don't think he quite gets atm why I'm asking him more family time or time at home. He says things are very busy at work and unfortunately there's nothing he can do about that. I think he feels he NEEDS to be there as much as possible as he's the one in charge. The fact that his boss is there almost 18 hours a day doesn't help either Hmm as DH feels it's wrong to leave him on his own with it all. Bleddy complicated situation.

Right, today our other friends move back home Snow mentioned playgroups, I've been to the ones in the near area, not many friend possibilities there, unfortunately. No idea about any NCT groups, would have to look them up.

M's got a cough atm. Not bothering her TOO much but we have the usual complications with food and sleep because of it. We've had lovely sunshine here for days now but it's been so windy! Yesterday we did a charity walk with M and it was quite chilly because of the wind. She enjoyed it though Smile

Right, off to start the day!

Waves!

June2009 · 04/05/2011 12:44

Heya!

We watched the royal wedding on tv and I welled up too, I always do at weddings. I also thought KM was absolutely stunning (and her sister!!!). Prince Harry looking pretty manly these days as well, he's got huge shoulders, hasn't he?
The long break was great, lots of sunshine and therefore bbq's at home with family and friends, plenty of visitors right up until yesterday evening.
Back to work today though, boo.

Potty training: we bought a cheap potty from Asda and C has sat on it fully dressed, she also asks/gets some wipes out and pretends to be wiping herself as well after but she won't sit on it once we get her trousers off. (she does ask for her trousers off as well sometimes.

She has started saying "poo poo in potty" and "wee-wee in potty" but I don't know if she says that when she is actually weeing. She won't actually do it in there or sit on it when we can see she is doing a poo. We also left her without a nappy on one morning and obviously she weeds her pants. Haha, what were we thinking was going to happen, honestly! Grin. She was just standing there going "oh dear what's happened? What's happened mummy?" Grin. This is going to be fun isn't it...

gauchita any news on your trip to London? Sorry to hear your friends are moving, one of my close friends is also moving soon :( It is hard to find new friends at busy groups because things get hectic and you don't get much of a chance to talk but if you find quieter groups? Have you tried the mumsnet local links? I've not used it myself but I think there are threads for meeting up locally.

snow hope you're having a good time in Oz :D

zhen how's the move going?

ninja how's everything? When's dd3 starting at her new school? did you have dd1 over for the break at all? How are E and the new cat getting on now?

We're thinking of going to the London zoo next weekend, a friend of ours is coming to visit from holland (only a couple of days) and we'd like to take him to at least one touristy thing (adequate for both 35yold single male and our child :S).
Any recommendations welcome! The zoo is very expensive, it's like £20 per person!

Going to get C from nursery now, speak to you all soon!

venetianred · 04/05/2011 21:33

june - we went to London Zoo last month. Just a couple of things, buy your tickets online to get a better price and avoid the queues. Go early so you can get a couple of hours looking around before lunchtime and possibly less great behaviour. You can take your own food and picnic on the lawn and save yourself another £14 or whatever. Food not cheap there. Take a little blanket to sit on.

That's all I can think of.

gauchita - sorry to hear your friends are leaving. Friends can be like buses though, nothing for a while then three arrive in a row!! Well, a bit silly, but I hope you meet some people you like. Come and visit me if you are ever near Manchester airport/Trafford Centre area midweek and are in need a cup of tea.

Gauchitaconpanza · 08/05/2011 10:53

Morning ladies!

Vene, oh that would be brilliant! A mini northern meet-up Grin We can plan it, if you want. Has DH finished work already? How's your business going? Hope F is finding his extra day at nursery good Smile

June, how's C with nursery now? Hope she's more settled. London zoo sounds like fun! I had also looked up the prices online, quite hefty, huh? But then I guess it's the standard price; when we went to the Chester one a few weeks ago it was £17 each, so not too far from the London price Grin Vene's idea of taking a little picnic is a good one, weather helping Wink The plan to go down south is still on, I think we might do it at the end of May Smile Sorry to hear some friends of yours are also moving.

Ninja, loft works are about to start, iirc?

Zhen, hope the move went well.

Can you believe next month our little Juners turn two!? Has anyone started looking into things?

Last weekend we went to York and when we went into the Disney Store M picked up a Buzz Lightyear and for the first time ever, she just would not let go Grin She's in love with it, bless her.

The reins are working much better, fortunately. She's happy to wear them and only rarely stands still and refuses to move Hmm She's cooperating more in that area.

Hope you're all having a nice weekend.

Waves!

June2009 · 09/05/2011 08:06

hey everyone!

gauchita My friend is not moving too far, we will still be able to see eachother maybe every other month. It's not the same as every week though and I really clicked with her.
My trainer is also moving at the end of this week, abroad. He is quite a close friend by now (after about a year!) so I'm really gutted that he is moving away as well. Wish people would stop getting on with their life around me ;) I'm meeting my new trainer sometime this week or next.

C is settling at nursery, for the first time this morning she did not cry either on the way there or there when I dropped her off, yay!.
She has started slapping/hitting/biting me and dh when she gets tired, do any of your little ones do this as well? I tell her "no, no hitting" and that "mummy's sad" and she laughs. Hmm We make her say "sorry" and give a kiss but I'm not sure she actually understands that it's wrong.

snow hope you had a lovely happy mother's day in Oz, how's everything going?

vene thanks for the tip for the zoo, I need to think of a back-up plan in case the weather turns bad!

Waves to everyone, lots to do today!

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 09/05/2011 11:32

morning all Smile

venetian, I missed the bags under Kate's eyes, I have to say the dress took all my focus, it was lovely. I know it was the sort of dress that was expected but thinking back to Diana and Fergies frocks, such an improvement!

zhen, hope the move went well and you're all settled now, with no leaks anywhere!

gauchita, did you manage to get a chat with dh? I guess it's tough being the one in charge, especially atm when times are rough with so many being made redundant, do you think he's worried about that? Not much help when you need the extra support at the moment though. How's your bump doing, must have plenty of movement now, decided on any names yet? Have you got space for him to have his own room or will he be sharing with M?

june, I haven't been for a proper visit to london zoo in ages, did a school trip in december though, it's definitely a good day out. I think E would just think everything was a cat, he's still absolutely obsessed with ours, follows her every where Hmm tis cute though. We saw a fair bit of dd1 over easter although she tends to stay with her boyfriend now when she's back as she doesn't have to get up at the crack of dawn there she's on her first proper placement at a school atm so she's finding it a bit tough having to run her own lessons even if she is still fully supervised. Dd3 starts her new school in september, we can't wait!!! Good to hear C is settling at nursery again, they're all growing up so fast. What is it with everyone moving atm, hope your new trainer is as good as the old one, you've done so well with him. E does the hitting, he thinks it's funny too, it's yet another 'phase' to get through Grin

work on the loft is due to start this week sometime [eek] it's such a shame there isn't a tv show called crap in the attic, I'd be quids in by now. You know there's a lot of rubbish up there but it's only when you have to empty it that you realise quite how much rubbish there is! My patio looks huge as well without all the kids toys on it, it's really strange with nothing there, I'm not used to it Grin the cat's not so sure either.

I can't believe E is going to be 2 at the end of the month, he's so grown up now, where has all the time gone Sad He's still not keen on shoes, will fling them at the first opportunity and will only keep them on when walking, cue much searching for missing shoes. Really stuck for present ideas for him as we have so much already because of the older kids, will have to keep an eye out to see what I can find. Contrary to what dh says, he doesn't want a scalectrix set or move for the ps3 Hmm

would you believe I'm actually having to spend time with my dh, the playstation network has been down for a couple of weeks, he's not a happy bunny when he can't spend the evening blowing his mates up Grin

hope you're all out enjoying the sun, it's so nice!! Waves to all Smile

Gauchitaconpanza · 13/05/2011 11:34

Marking my place for later Smile

Gauchitaconpanza · 14/05/2011 21:23

Evening all!

Still quiet around here Smile

Bigcar, how was the beginning of the works in the loft? Hope things are not too messy, but even if they are, remember the goal and keep that in mind Grin Big fat problem with Sony and PS, huh? Is E's birthday on 28th May? Maybe we should make a small list again Blush Unbelievable it's been 2 years now! Also stuck on present ideas here, no idea what we'll get her. They're more aware of this bday, last time I don't think they registered it much Grin

I've talked to DH, yes, things have been better, fortunately. He's been spending more time at home and helping much more. You're absolutely right, he feels a quite a bit of pressure at work.

June, glad to hear C's much better at nursery. Hope things are ok, btw.

Hi to everyone else Smile

This week I got to visit my friend who recently moved. It was my first "road trip" Grin. M behaved quite well during the car journey, fortunately. We had a nice time, even though the weather was not too nice. It kept raining at regular intervals Grin

This week I have a MW appointment. I'm 24 weeks already! Shock Baby's very active these days. One uncomfortable thing at the moment, though, is that he only likes it when I sleep on my right Hmm. On my back and front are out of the question but I can't change positions and move to the left; he starts complaining Grin

We decided to get a pet for M so we're getting two gerbils tomorrow Grin We went to see some today and she really liked them Smile

Hope you're all having a nice weekend ladies.

Waves!

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 15/05/2011 12:22

afternoon all Smile

gauchita, good memory there, yes, 28th for E Smile garden toys (if you have one, I don't think you do??) are always good at this age, especially as our lot have summer birthdays, playhouses, cars, trikes and scooters are fun, otherwise it's all the big toys like play kitchens, garages, happy street (LOVE happy street) more dolls, highchairs and buggies, duplo do some lovely sets, E likes the shopping trolley that dd3 got for her birthday.

pleased you got to talk to dh and visit your friend, must have been lovely despite the weather. Hope all goes well with the gerbils, be careful though, my friend has some and they do eat through the plastic parts of their cage and escape every so often Grin they've also learnt where to hide as she has cats! Wow, 24 weeks, time is really flying, nights don't sound much fun at the moment though.

loft works are . . . err . . . progressing, sounded like ww3 here on wednesday as they took the back and side roof off [eek] would you believe E slept through most of it Hmm he'd had a couple of disturbed nights so needed a decent day time nap. We won't mention the mess . . . I'm definitelt in denial about all that Grin I've put some pics on my profile to bore you all with I will be so happy when it's over, about another 6 weeks to go if all goes to plan.

went to bed a little itchy on friday night and woke up yesterday covered in a rash, it's spread even more today [argh] think it's an allergy thing but can't work out to what, every one else is fine and they all have sensitive skin so I'm just scratching and itching permanently, may be I'm allergic to loft conversions!

hope your having a good weekend juners, waves to all Smile

June2009 · 17/05/2011 08:21

Heya juners, I have started this post so many times over the past week, I keep getting interrupted.

I'm a bit down at the moment, my trainer (who has become a really good friend over the past year) and one of my best friends are both moving out of London (trainer gone already, friend in a month or so) snow and gauchita I know how you feel about your mates leaving, it's hard isn't it.

We were burgled last week :( busted window which we have to change now, I wonder how long the insurance will take this time (just under a year last time!). They didn't take as much this time as they did last time "thankfully". Bastards!

A list is a good idea for birthdays, I don't remember any!
ninja's E 28/05
june's C 18/06

We're looking into presents, a bike for C., suggested family get her a scooter, some kind of sandbox, she likes handbags too.
What do boys like? I have two friends with boys coming up to 2 next week and I'm a bit stuck for ideas. One of them has duplo sets already, might get one for the other one.
Not sure how much to spend, was thinking £10 to £15.
I'd better post this before I get interrupted again!

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 17/05/2011 09:25

oh june, I'm sorry to hear that Sad bastards indeed! There seem to be a lot of friends moving away at the moment, it's rotten. I do however have a very bad joke that may make you smile just a little bit,

what do you call an exploding monkey?

a babooooooooom!

ds1 liked handbags too Grin how about something like an art set with drawing/painting stuff, music set or elc do sets for happy street or happyland as they call it now, type that into the search box on their site, there's loads to choose from in your price range. I really like this may have to add to our collection and get some for E!

hope you get your insurance sorted quicker this time.

waves to all Smile

June2009 · 18/05/2011 10:38

Thanks ninja that did make me smile :)
It's just been a really shitty last month and I wish my mates were here to support me but as it is everybody seems to have deserted me (holidays, moving, getting married, all valid excuses). Sod's law.

I've had a look at the happyland stuff, good ideas there, I know one of the little boys loves carrying his little men around. I was thinking of getting a hat too, the other boy loves hats, and tractors...

snow hope you're having a good time in Oz, you're probably on your way back soon.

Hope everyone else is well!

venetianred · 18/05/2011 21:51

Happyland popular at our house, but he's craziest about trains - preferably Thomas the Tank Engine ones. Boys do tend to like things with wheels. Also, I think you can never go wrong with Board Books that have flaps:
Thomas flap book
Where's Spot
Dear Zoo
Busy Airport and there are more in this range.

OR

My kids love this bath toy Action Rescue Centre

Foam letters in bath are a must - mine love this Postman Pat bath foam letters

OR

Bubble machine - great fun in the garden in summer Bubble Machine Am sure you could find one cheaper.

Really sorry to hear about the house. That's just soul destroying - especially twice. Did they take one large horse?

Have a family really is a time of change, your friend's possibly feel you deserted them in some respects when you had C. Within about 5 years many of my London friends starting leaving London, and then heh, presto, we did too. But now I love my new life and just make a huge effort to stay in touch with the ones I'm close to.

Managing to keep the weight off?

gaucita - I don't want to post my details on here. Are you able to send messages via mumsnet with your email address?

ninja - maybe you need a new name - loftmeister

June2009 · 19/05/2011 10:02

hehe vene someone suggested I tell mil that unfortunately the horse had been taken ;)
You're so good at keeping up with everyone, I probably did desert some friend swhen C came along. I don't see us moving out of London at all right now, we'll see what the future brings!
Thanks for the toys ideas, I bought two bubble machines last weekend from smyths and think I might just be the thing to get, one each for our NCT group.

I'm looking forward to training with a new instructor from beg. june, I've managed to keep on loosing (bought some size 10 jeans last weekend, lost 6.5 stones since I've had the baby, really really happy!).

I have to go for now, speak soon!

Gauchitaconpanza · 19/05/2011 15:04

Hi all!

June, when I saw your FB post re. what had happened I got really worried. Luckily you then said you were all ok and only a few things had been taken. Bastards indeed. Really hope the insurance company doesn't take as long as last time; a year! Shock Looking forward to your update re. your new instructor at the gym. Fingers crossed for the chemistry to be as good as or better than with the previous one! Smile You must be chuffed you're now a size 10 jeans! I need pictures of the new you Grin

Bigcar, thanks for the gift ideas Smile I can't see the pics you uploaded, it's because I changed my NN a bit Grin Hope things are going well with the works. How's the itching? Maybe it's an allergy to builders Wink We got M two Roborosky hamsters (the dwarf type) in the end Smile Thanks for the advice! We went to get them right after I saw your post and decided against the gerbils Grin I can't believe they can eat their way out of their cages Shock M loves them and is not afraid of them at all. She wants to hold them, they're very very quick, though, so DH has been the only one handling them up to now. We got a cage on eBay (it was a third of the price at the pet store!) and it arrived today. They were in a big IKEA plastic box up to now Grin They didn't seem too bothered, it was a mansion for them, huge! Grin I'll try and post a picture now.

Vene, thanks for the gift ideas. Although I'm still pondering Grin We got a 20% off voucher from ELC's big birthday club, and I think we might be using it.
I'm the same, wary of posting things that are too personal/identifiable/private Smile You can use MN's private messages if you want. You can add as many people as you want in them and they go straight to your "MN inbox" Smile How's F doing at nursery? And DD at school?
Keeping in touch with friends/relatives far away can be tricky at times. And you lose touch with some of them inevitably. What I do since we arrived in England, and you'll all laugh at me because of this Grin, is send a weekly email to my closest friends and family with any news or things we've done or places we've visited, or with new things M's doing. That helps, because as cheesy as it sounds, sharing those tiny mundane things makes them seem closer.

Snow, hope the holidays are going great!

Zhen, hope the boxes are starting to disappear now Smile

I had a MW appointment yesterday, I measure 27cm, but I'm 25wks, eek! I'm definitely a bit bigger this time around Grin

Off to take advantage of M's nap Smile

Waves!

Gauchitaconpanza · 19/05/2011 15:14

Picture uploaded Smile

Ninja, sorry about the blip, I used your old name! Blush

June2009 · 19/05/2011 20:26

gauchita I can't get to your pics (when I go over your name it doesn't let me click on it) (did you get my pic by text btw?)

ninja are you getting a lot of dust everywhere from the works? And I'm intrigued, when they open the roof like that and it rains, what happens?

BadRoly · 19/05/2011 20:28

Please can I sneak in here? My ds2 will be 2 on 1st June but I haven't been here for very long...

Gauchitaconpanza · 19/05/2011 21:49

June, there, I fixed it now. I keep forgetting that every time you change your NN all pics go and you have to create a new profile. Nope, didn't get your pic. When did you send it?

BadRoly, hi and welcome to the thread! Tell us a little bit more about yourself if you want. We're a friendly and chatty bunch, you might have read a bit of the current thread Smile

I forgot to add M's birthday to the list before.

Ninja's E: 28/05
BadRoly's DS: 01/06
Gauchita's M: 14/06
June's C: 18/06
