Totally's original thread was for TTC after MC. It continued long after Totally herself graduated, and is still going strong. Totally's grads was set up as a thread for pregnancy post MC - i.e. anyone who graduated from Totally's thread and anyone else who had experienced MC and was now pregnant. It, too, is still going strong.

Now, more and more of us have graduated from Totally's grads - including LouiseSH, whose Georgie was born asleep. I suppose that makes us postgrads. We have travelled together for a long time and would like to stay in touch, but the pregnancy post MC thread is starting to get very big, and I think it should be allowed to keep its focus on pregnancy post MC. May it be as wonderful a place for support for current "members" as it was for us.

So this thread is a place for us to keep in touch, share experiences, and provide support.

(This is the first time ever I'm starting a thread - hope it works out...)

Hello Viv, lovely to see you here Smile

Muser I too spend a lot of time out with baby in sling. It means I don't get a lot done but I like to think of it as exercises to do, not particularly strenuous exercise but better than nothing!
Physio was helpful this morning and didn't tut at my co-sleeping or babywearing as I'd feared, just worked on my back and neck, gave me some exercise and said not to stop using the sling as it has to be better than baby on hip, back out of line. Of course today it's feeling worse not better... I hope cranial wotsit just makes J better, buffs.

louisesh · 05/05/2011 18:05

MMMMMMMMMM...............Do you mean you Alba????
Hi Ivy yes, i m coming up to 14 weeks now.
I m ok don t suffer much from sickness normally so just lucky like that i guess!!!

Hi everyone XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

clareanna · 05/05/2011 21:34

Wow buffy Sounds like a hungry boy! Hope a bit of weaning and head rubbing starts to improve things for you.

toomt ugh- poor you, that sounds awful. Sorry the dairy free doesn't appear to be helping. I know you are bfing, but I thought I'd mention a friend of mine had some success at settling her baby (reflux) with a bottle of aptimil comfort milk at night. If you do decide to try it she recommended gradually introducing it over a few days to check baby tolerates it before using it at night. Thought id mention just in case you were interested.

T is 12 weeks old today- hurrah! Although am feeling really sad about how quickly it's going by. We celebrated by covering ourselves in sick. I cut down the gaviscon yesterday to see what would happen. Sick is what happened, lots of sick. Not going to try that again! But he is generally happy and content so the sick isn't bothering him too much

Unbuffy · 06/05/2011 08:38

TMT/Clare apparently cranio-wotsit is very good for reflux, gut problems etc - will let you know if it helps sort out my little vomitter. If so I shall doubtless be recommending it for everything under the sun. Hope you feel better soon Tmt xx

Lots of waves, special waves to Louise
xx

AlbaDeTamble · 06/05/2011 11:26

Boo to the sick Clare. what are reflux symptoms? X has started occasional sick ups, though I put that down to greedyfast feeding, but also the past couple of evenings has shown all signs of hunger, but as soon as I start feeding he starts a really sorry cry like something is hurting badly. All fine after an hour or so of distraction or a quick sleep in the sling... I put first evening down to jabs, but not so sure now. But it's only in the evening...

Louise not me!!! I just have to live vicariously through everyone else's subsequent pregnancies now, no more for me. Would that it weren't so, but we have our hands full with all the kids we have between us so I'm making the most of my last little baby now.

Buffy, forgot to say I'm loving the grape story! After reading meita's posts on BLW I'm thinking of giving it a go, maybe with a few purees thrown in for good measure... But will be holding off as long as possible, last baby and all that...

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 06/05/2011 13:05

poking my nose in.. mw (not my usual) just left, and little piggy hasn't lost any weight at all. :)
still feeling sad it's all over, in a weird way. not that I was enjoying the last weeks, but after all the preparation I did for the birth, it's like all those big things - christmas, weddings, birthdays. when they are gone, you want them back. I'll have to find something else to obsess about keep me busy..

sorry about the sickiness clare, I only have limited experience of reflux, DS1 couldn't feed lying down, but other than that wasn't really affected..

alba BLW is great, it's so much fun :o

waves at viv and passes the pate

yay about GBOS louise - I'm sooo pleased for you.

Meita · 06/05/2011 13:24

another reason for BLW:
am visiting with SOOL (DP's sister) & family. They have two little ones, 2y and 7m old. Lunch today: Leftovers. SOOL sits down to feed her DD (the littlie). Meanwhile, I set the table, make everything ready, get DNephew and I. into their highchairs, get both their bibs on, serve them both food, help DNephew shovel stuff onto his spoon, pick up stuff that I. has thrown on the floor, fetch stuff from the kitchen, make sure they both drink, I eat, serve second helpings, start cleaning up and loading the washing up machine, clean DNephews and I. hands and faces, get their bibs off, get them off the highchairs.
Then SOOL eats, while at the same time trying to keep her DD happy nearby. Meanwhile I play with the other two.

SOOL says she can't do BLW because she doesn't have time for it. Hmm

Meita · 06/05/2011 13:29

Admittedly, DNiece ate was fed lots more than I. today. A whole big pot of puree. (I'd say it was about what would fit into three store-bought baby food jars) Whereas Ianto had about 8 pieces of penne and some rice. Given that she is so small - at 7months she's not quite 6kg (about 13lbs - about 2nd centile) it's good that she's getting some food, I guess.

clareanna · 06/05/2011 20:16

ivy know what you mean about feeling sad that it's all over, I feel like that too. Am feeling like I want to have another baby which with practical, sane head on I know would be a bit bonkers..

buffy looking forward to your cranio- thingy update... Will be v interested!

alba sick wasn't T's presenting symptom for reflux- it was coughing during and after feeding and then crying and pain after feeding. It gets worse through the day with pre bedtime feed at 6.45 being the worst for him. dreamfeed he is fine though. Not sure why he is suddenly being more sick, he might need a bigger dose of gaviscon now though. Will go to kellymom to investigate!!

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 07/05/2011 17:57

clare not bonkers.. I have plans for the next few years, had a horrible pregnancy and could in no way cope with 3 kids right now, but I have the same feeling. but I know it for what it is, and will just have to find other outlets....

from the silence in here I take it everyone is having a nice, busy weekend?

toomuchteaching · 08/05/2011 17:42

Right, advice needed...

J has spots around her bum. They're like perfect little whiteheads in her bum crease. Is this just some form of nappy rash I haven't seen before? Coincidentally I have also woken up with perfect little whiteheads on my face, those little tiny shallow one that are barely worth squeezing. Could it be because of the pill issues I had last week (TMI but loo issues seem to have meant I wasn't absorbing enough hormone so I had some bleeding despite it being a no period pill) or should I be worried about J?

Also when we went to the doc who advised dairy free she asked about mucousy poo. I wasn't really sure then but now know what she means, why did she ask? Because it is mucousy about every other day at the moment, so what does that mean?

Apologies for me me me, I'm enjoying the updates (especially the grape story!) and will post properly when fully recovered.

clareanna · 08/05/2011 19:57

toomt how is dairy free going?? t was v sucky yesterday and I'd had a curry the night before which was medium spiced, think that may have caused it as he's been a bit better today. Sooooo whiteheads on bottoms, could be a number of things, just nappy rash so treat in usual way or could be a yeast infection (if red underneath and wet looking I think)
Mucus in poo can be caused by lots of things too- ds1 had it when teething from swallowing dribble. It can be a sign of a virus, or sometimes a sign of a food intolerance so if you are noticing it, it could be worth mentioning to your doctor if her tummy isn't settling down.

Hope everyone else had good weekends? I've got to go into work tomorrow as my mat replacement has just started... About time! Dreading it a bit- find it really depressing to think about it... And how busy I'll be with nursery and school drop offs argggh!

Muser · 08/05/2011 22:31

Hello all, hope you're all having good weekends. Had a nice one here. Pretty chilled. Got a bit of time to myself on Saturday as DH took the baby out by himself. All very nice, although he dithered slightly too long in the shops so she was screaming when she got home. I actually heard her from inside the flat as they walked past! We do have rubbish ancient windows though. Poor guy was very apologetic, but I've done it enough times myself. At least I can whip out a boob and calm her down quickly!

Then Saturday night she slept through completely, 10pm-7am! Was a nightmare getting her to drop off though, very screamy. She's been a bit ill this week, all bunged up, so her sleeping went crazy. Tonight she went down at about 9.30pm, waiting to see whether she does a big sleep again or not. Given we were having issues with her weight gain I don't mind her doing a night feed.

Still no luck with the napping during the day. I have borrowed a swing to see if that will help. So far it has just made her very excited. Not what I need!

toomt I don't know about whiteheads. We had red spots in the nappy area the other day but I think it was a bit of heat rash and has cleared up now.

DorcasB · 09/05/2011 08:54

Just passing through with a wedge of brie under my arm to say hello and welcome to viv and ivy. And a delicious non-dairy alternative for TMT! Will be back later to properly catch up. Hope everyone and their Biscuit Biscuit 's and babies are well. Hugs to those unwell or feeling miserable x x

Unbuffy · 09/05/2011 09:41

Muse the only way we made sure that dd napped - and i swear she refused to sleep for the first 9 weeks or so of her life - was to make the first nap ridiculously early in the morning. She went from 'not-tired' to 'overtired' in the blink of an eye - literally a 5 minute window to put her down in! It's much the same with BabyJ - as soon as he starts to winge a little bit in the morning and nothing cheers him up at once, it's down (in the pram in the mornings). This morning it was around 9am, maybe a bit earlier, and he'll go down again at lunchtime (whether he likes it or not - cruel mummy face and evil chuckle). This was the routine we eventually settled on for dd after much trial and error and heart(and ear)ache, and it seems to work for Himself too, fortunately!
Best of luck with working out your own, mind, non-napping children are very horrible!

No help on the spots I'm afraid, we've had lots of heat rash and some nappy rash but not ze peemples - but would strongly recommend Neals Yard Baby Balm for most skin things!

Well all fairly quiet here, dh is away on a course all week so the diary is empty enough to have yet another go at potty training - every time we get started stuff happens and we get distracted events overtake us. J is sleeping better at night, one (quick comfort) feed last night at 3ish, the night before just one at 5.50 - WOW!!! Needless to say I was up half the night listening out for him anyway... No more repeats of the grape incident, he's got less hungry again so another lull between growth spurts -> hooj Biscuits.

We went to get weighed last Wednesday. There was next to no-one at the clinic (fortunately...) -stripped and weighed, all fine, pop him on the length chart, I say, are you sure no nappy, they say, oh no it'll be fiiiine. Hmm. Well needless to say the resulting fountain went about 3 feet and covered a set of scales, drenched me and the hv, and took half a roll of that blue paper towel stuff and about 4 disinfectant wipes to clear up. AND I'd put my hand over it as soon as I noticed it started. And then they had to measure him, I got him partially dressed and they said they had to measure him all over again because the 2nd hv could not believe the 1st hv had done it right, but yes he HAD grown 5cm in 6 weeks.

Ah well.

Hope you're all well, welcomes and congrats to Ivy and Vivvy, hope to see you joining in the insanity soon!

x

Muser · 09/05/2011 09:45

My mornings are currently a race to get her put of the house for a nap! She needs one about an hour and a half after waking or she has a screaming fit. I've tried getting her to sleep in the flat but she just won't have it. So sling it is. We kind of work on that cycle throughout the day. Bloody tiring. But I'm hoping as she gets older I'll be able to get her to sleep in other ways. She has just started napping in the pram again so that's a good sign.

stuffedmk · 09/05/2011 15:00

Just had some horrible news, a friend of ours has just lost her baby, she was about 20 weeks I think, my heart just broke for her when I heard. It really is horrible that despite my experience I know there is still nothing I can say to make her feel better right now :(

clareanna · 09/05/2011 21:28

Oh stuffed that is so sad. Have just seen that Kelly brook has lost her baby at nearly 5 months pg too Sad

viv ivy how are you getting on??

Muser · 09/05/2011 21:58

How sad for them all, just terrible.

PenguinsMummy · 10/05/2011 15:35

Hi All.

Really sad news Stuffed for your friend.

Clare DD1 had bad reflux - she didn't seem bothered by it at all but she spewed after every feed and we were mopping it up - numerous sodden muslins each day. As it wasn't impacting her general well being we were advised to just go with it but to wean her at 4 months as solids would help to strengthen the muscle and the reflux would stop. So we weaned at 17 weeks and sure enough the reflux went. But in those first few months she projectile vom'd other everything and everyone she came into contact with!!

We're doing ok here. Clodagh will be 4 weeks tomorrow and seems to be fairly contented. Night times are random but only to be expected. She gets her hips scanned in a couple of weeks but given family history I would be more surprised if they told me she was normal so am expecting her to be put into a harness too. DD1&2 have taken really well to their new sister. Hopefully back driving in 10 days after dr check up - although it does completely give me the fear when I think about taking all 3 DD's out on my own!!! Confused

Apols for awols Blush

Jabs day today Sad

Stuffed so sorry for your friend.

Buffs love the babyJ wee story. I too have been very impressed (and drenched) with fountainness.

Hope all new mums and babes doing well, those early newborn days seem so long ago for me now - it was only January! I look at R's early pictures and can;t believe how much he has changed in such a short time. Or how many clothes he has grown out of. Already broody over the little'uns so looking forward to seeing Loopy and the other 38 plussers! xx

Gi1da · 12/05/2011 18:18

OI SpringSamB! if you're lurking, how are you? All better I hope Smile
