Totally's original thread was for TTC after MC. It continued long after Totally herself graduated, and is still going strong. Totally's grads was set up as a thread for pregnancy post MC - i.e. anyone who graduated from Totally's thread and anyone else who had experienced MC and was now pregnant. It, too, is still going strong.

Now, more and more of us have graduated from Totally's grads - including LouiseSH, whose Georgie was born asleep. I suppose that makes us postgrads. We have travelled together for a long time and would like to stay in touch, but the pregnancy post MC thread is starting to get very big, and I think it should be allowed to keep its focus on pregnancy post MC. May it be as wonderful a place for support for current "members" as it was for us.

So this thread is a place for us to keep in touch, share experiences, and provide support.

(This is the first time ever I'm starting a thread - hope it works out...)

Thanks XXXXX

northerngoldilocks · 29/04/2011 11:01

Louise that's fab news

DorcasB · 29/04/2011 16:31

Great news Louise!
My Biscuit is still Sad, or should that be Angry.
Been taking ab's for 48 hours now and whilst I feel ok, no flu-like symptoms and temperature down last time I checked, I still have a hard, red lump. Is this normal or should I be worried? We're away for a week so I am a bit worried about things getting worse and not being able to see a doctor. After all our trials and tribulations to carry on breastfeeding I will be gutted if something scuppers it now.
Hope everyone is having a nice day- anyone been watching the wedding?

northerngoldilocks · 30/04/2011 18:04

Dorcas from my mastitis experience it usually takes at least a couple of days for the redness to go. Just make sure you're feeding lots from that side and massaging as you feed. You could also try putting hot flannels on before a feed and expressing in the shower or using a breast pump or hand expressing after you've fed from that side to make sure the milk is draining properly. Hopefully it will all be fine for your hols!

PenguinsMummy · 30/04/2011 22:40

Great news Louise. X

HappyGirl1 · 01/05/2011 21:37

Fab news Louise - delighted to hear about you progressing through pg

Dorcas hope you feel better soon

HOw is everyone else?

Gi1da · 02/05/2011 14:01

Hello hello hello sorry have been awol. Have lost Brian completely due to constant feeding and not enough long sleep nuggets. Feeling sooo tired. Happy though. Sun is shining and that definitely helps, though hate to say it, my poor garden needs some rain, and fast!

Toomt are you feeling any better? I do hope so.

Dorcas how's the Biscuit?

Louise wonderful news! Three cheers for little GBOS! How are you feeling?

Reds we're at the same stage, R is making new noises (aka Ren's Big Noise) and can turn on his side, but shows no interest in going all the way over. Probably good, we have some serious floorboard restoration work to do before he starts moving about!

Alba how's X doing, feed / growth spurt too?

Meita wow at I. Amazing how quick the time goes, he sounds gorgeous!

SpringSam how are things? Hope you are mending nicely. Does R still have a taste for filou?

Northern what did you think of the cranial?

Penguin how are you getting on? Gawd I'm nostalgic for newborn snuggles already!

And bunting out for Viv

Waves to everyone, hope you are having lovely weekends xx

clareanna · 03/05/2011 08:03

hello all! sorry for radio silence - have been lurking on my phone but now got laptop back so can settle down to a monster post hopefully....

toomt how are you getting on with your new diet? do you think it's making any difference? hope you are feeling a bit better now?

On sleep - have you heard about core night method? this gave me a lot of confidence in trying to work out whether to stick the boob in or try other things first to get Ds to sleep. The theory is that once your baby sleeps for a longish stretch at night (say from 11-3.30) for 3 or 4 nights in a row that is their core night sleep and when you know they can do that, then if they wake during that time you can try other methods to get them to settle themselves. Babies sleep cycle is only 45mins / 1 hour long, so they naturally come into a light sleep phase every hour or so and can wake up, the idea is to help them resettle themselves with minimum help from you so that they learn to do it themselves. Of course if they just don't settle then give the shortest feed you can to get them back down.

Ahhh Meita I is so clever! he'll be off before you know it! DS1 once managed to roll out of the bathroom door when I was preparing his bath - couldn't work out where he'd gone! cue much panic...

Dorcas hope the boob is back to normal - mastitis is evil.

Magic love the thought of the spiders smiling at each other - so cute! T has started to chuckle, but will only do it at DS1 - very sweet. How is big sis getting on?

Looking forward to seeing viv over here very soon!

waves to everyone else x

clareanna · 03/05/2011 08:04

CONGRATULATIONS louise great news about GBOS scan xxx

Gi1da · 04/05/2011 09:49

Clarea the core sleep is interesting, makes perfect sense now that you've mentioned it. I think R is too big for the rocking crib now and is actually waking himself up by thumping it about when he thrashes about moves. Shame as it is higher up than the proper cot which will mean more work for my back lifting him out to feed in the night. Anyone else finding the physicalness of it all a bit much; or is that just my old advanced age? My lower back is killing me from twisting and rocking a stone weight all day. Mind you my arms are looking fantastic Grin.

Tsk tsk tsk ladies

Gi1da · 04/05/2011 09:59
DorcasB · 04/05/2011 11:25

The Biscuit is a lot better thanks northern, happy, gilda and clare. It's true, mastitis is evil!
Gilda, I know exactly what you mean about the physicalness of it, have already put my back out and have very achy shoulders and arms. I think some intensive gym sessions should be part of ante natal classes, I feel very puny and unfit!
Waves to everyone else.

louisesh · 04/05/2011 11:43

Hi all, many thanks XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I m not bad plodding on ,as i ve always said not much else you can do is there? GBOS fine....Next scan in 2 weeks.

Hope all babies are growing and doing well.Congrats to new arrivals XXXX

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 04/05/2011 12:45

hello :)

louise I didn't realise you were pregnant, that is brilliant news, and even better that you had a good scan!

now, where is that pate?

AlbaDeTamble · 04/05/2011 13:44

Welcome Ivy! great birth story. Your midwives better than the one I had who assumed no obvious pain = no progress. You reminded me of X's birth all over again, feel so lucky to have experienced that.

Gilda re physicalness, I jarred my neck last week, still not quite right so I'm seeing a physio tomorrow. Hard to heal lugging a big heavy (ok, only 6kg here but still...) baby around.

Glad mastitis gone Dorcas. I'm feeling like a proper earth mother this morning, answered door for parcel delivery whilst X continued uninterrupted with his feed! Never thought I'd be able to do that without feeling acutely Blush!

Good to see you here Louise. Are you past morning sickness stage now? I hope you're managing to enjoy pregnancy this time at least a little and it's not utterly terrifying. I wonder how many other thread siblings will be on the way by the time Georgie's arrives?

Clare core sleep v interesting. I have ordered the no cry sleep solution. I think it has some good suggestions for reducing night feeds whilst co sleeping. I read the toddler no-cry sleep book when DS1 was still a bad sleeper at 2 and it was fantastic, the solutions worked really well for us. He wakes rarely now, either for the loo or very occasional nightmares. That said we had quite a good night with X last night but I think just because he had jabs yesterday. Every time it's led to a very good night's sleep... and 3 jabs at once bizarrely had fewer tears...

AlbaDeTamble · 04/05/2011 13:47

And I nearly forgot to leave the Brie and French bread on the table for Ivy, might tempt Viv in too...?

Waves to everyone else

toomuchteaching · 04/05/2011 16:36

Put the brie away!

Apologies for being AWOL, I haven't had the energy to keep up with bookface and here.

Still not feeling great although I did at least make it out today. I never knew tonsilitis could be so painful... it's bacterial so has given me a touch of blood poisoning (not quite so dramatic though) leading to all over body pain, I'm so ready for it to be over. :(

Dairy free doesn't seem to have had an impact either, so things are rather depressing.

Anyway, will namecheck another day, but welcome Ivy (and Viv). And hello everyone else, thanks for your wellwishes and advice, back soon.

Meita · 04/05/2011 19:59

Welcome Ivy and Viv!

Tired... will catch up later.

OP posts:
AlbaDeTamble · 04/05/2011 22:38

Crikey TMT that sounds like you've had a really rough time of it... Sorry for the Brie temptation, lovely rich dark vegan choc any good instead?
I don't know how you've got through such a nasty illness still feeding yourself, hats off to you and I do hope you're getting enough rest for a speedy recovery now.

Muser · 05/05/2011 08:54

Poor toomt hope you're on the mend again.

Big woots for successful scans and new arrivals.

Sorry I'm being rubbish at keeping up. I'm always on my phone so catch ups are tricky. I have a baby who only naps in her sling so I spend a lot of time out getting her to sleep. Had a first last night when she went to bed at 8pm instead of her more usual 10pm. I'm not sure I approve though as she sleeps a good 6-7 hour stretch from 10pm. Whereas last night there were many wakings and I am more tired than usual. She is a snot factory at the moment though so I wonder if she has a cold.

Really interesting about the core sleep hours. That's what I've been doing without realising it. She usually wakes grunting rather than crying, I look at the clock, decide she can do better, and ignore her. She will usually fall back asleep and if she doesn't then we feed.

Unbuffy · 05/05/2011 09:16

Hi all, must try to catchup a bit Blush I am again reading but not so hot on the posting. I blame the waking-up-every-2-hours thang. grooo.

Will attempt longer post after cranial wotsit this morning - fx that it helps, or at least starts to - 5 months is apparently quite old to start that! But nobody came up with anything (is there a bloodyuselessHV emoticon Angry) before and i have lost all semblance of Brian.

J sucked the hell out of three grapes yesterday... starting to consider a spot of blw - y'know, a bit of broccolli to suck etc... (he forced my hand holding grape with top bitten off into his mouth and sucked the whole inside out (grape not hand!!), and was quiet for a whole five minutes while he did it!) Must find that highchair...

VivClicquot · 05/05/2011 11:01

*tentatively sticks head around the corner and beams at the bunting>

Did someone mention pate and Brie?
