Totally's original thread was for TTC after MC. It continued long after Totally herself graduated, and is still going strong. Totally's grads was set up as a thread for pregnancy post MC - i.e. anyone who graduated from Totally's thread and anyone else who had experienced MC and was now pregnant. It, too, is still going strong.

Now, more and more of us have graduated from Totally's grads - including LouiseSH, whose Georgie was born asleep. I suppose that makes us postgrads. We have travelled together for a long time and would like to stay in touch, but the pregnancy post MC thread is starting to get very big, and I think it should be allowed to keep its focus on pregnancy post MC. May it be as wonderful a place for support for current "members" as it was for us.

So this thread is a place for us to keep in touch, share experiences, and provide support.

(This is the first time ever I'm starting a thread - hope it works out...)

Wow... Quiet for days then suddenly everyone's chattering... Some correlation with the weather going chilly again Hmm? (lol at you in the park with your son's coat round your feet Lia!)

Prams... Well, X won't lie in a pram, so it was the sling for me, till I thought I'd try him (early) in DS1's old buggy, and he loved it! So he's in that every day. Mamas & Papa's pulse, bog standard pushchair, very easy for round town and cheap too!

Clare reflux sounds horrid. Poor chap. And poor you with loads of pumping and sterilising to do

Gilda we got a few screaming sessions after second jabs, horrid, but didn't last too long and he had some very long sleeps too, thankfully.

Dorcas when and what channel for bf documentary, shall have to try to find it on iplayer. Good news it's now so much better, in awe of you sticking with it so long.

Northern I've heard good things about cranial osteopathy, hope it world for you

Buffy hello lurky lurker

Phone on the blink so must post now before it crashes again...

toomuchteaching · 12/04/2011 21:58

Hahaha Muser I so thought that was at my TMI question! Glad it's not.

Enjoyed the breastfeeding doc, obviously was compelled to shout at the telly a fair few times though.

Meita · 12/04/2011 22:22

Northern we had a couple of cranial osteopathy sessions too, I don't know if it made a difference but it was from then on that things started to improve with the BF. Never regretted it.

Hi Lia! Big welcome :)

AlbaDeTamble · 12/04/2011 22:43

Oh, and we got passport photos done today. He yelled more than he did for either set of jabs... Hmm

HappyGirl1 · 12/04/2011 23:18

Hi all - just a quick message to say hi, we are feeding like there is no tomorrow here, she is in good form though but i really think it's some kind of spurt has learned loads of new things in the last 2 days just all at once and then needed 2 feeds during the night last night which she hasn't needed since the very early days, feel sorry for her though cos she really needs her sleep so we will see how tonight goes. WE have started on baby rice this week and maybe we will try pear puree tomorrow, she literally devoured the baby rice today.. she has always been on teh 50th percentile but gosh she seems soooo hungry this week!

Lia welcome! Great news re the night time feeding

alba those passport photos were a tricky thing for us - we got them done at 2 weeks so we could go home to family for christmas, how we did that now i'll just never know looking back! where are ye off to? anywhere nice?

gilda how are u? third jabs for us were by far the worst but then a 2 hour nap during the day (which she NEVER does) seemed to do the trick plus some magic pink medicine

dorcas glad things are going better now!

ok got to run chat later xx

SpringFlowers · 13/04/2011 08:15

Been a bit of a lurker recently, will post properly later. Just wanted to say TMT that I got my period back at 12 weeks despite breastfeeding. Took me totally by surprise, could it be that?

We have a M & P Sola which isn't massively expensive - I love it and wouldn't swap it for a bee! The seat unit goes completely flat and can face either way. Highly recommended here.

stuffedmk · 13/04/2011 13:27

Hi ladies, thought I should get my backside over here lol.
Will have a proper read through before posting properly.
Tom is currently wearing his first washable nappy, and seems comfy enough.

I am sitting expressing some stupid tiny amount of milk, which I am only really doing to make myself feel better about not managing to bf again....had prepared myself for the same issues as I had with ds1 but got a whole new set of problems thrown at me this time lol, oh well T is doing well so who cares.
He's waking up so will be back at a better time.....must remember to get on here as soonas he falls asleep rather than when he's been asleep for ages Grin

clareanna · 14/04/2011 11:25

Anyone seem the bugaboo donkey? Am seriously considering having another child close in age to get one!!!

Although that would be MADNESS as here at reflux towers life is not good. It is horrible seeing your baby so upset when you're trying to feed them. Feel like I can't leave the house Sad have tried bfing today and giving him the gaviscon in a bottle - he is upset on the boob and then throws up the gaviscon. Going to try a syringe next feed. He was happy having all expressed feeds from a bottle yesterday but there's no way I can keep that up!

Lovely to see stuffed here... unbuffy how are you?? Waves to spring and happy

Meita · 14/04/2011 11:30

Bugaboo donkey:

OMG.

DorcasB · 14/04/2011 11:37

Thanks alba, I have had a lot of support with the bf (although don't get me started on NHS Angry ) including you lovely ladies on here which has made all the difference. I'm so glad I persevered although wouldn't want to go through it again. The docu was on bbc3 on tues, so will be on iplayer.
Hi happygirl! I haven't even thought about weaning, still seems a long way off but will probably be here before I know it. After the struggle to establish bfing though I am in no hurry to stop- I may have to bf Little D till she's 21!
Hi stuffed, glad T is doing well. Very impressed you are using non disposable. Have been thinking about it lately, but very unsure. The eco disposables I use (moltex) are so expensive though!
clareanna, how's T doing?
Hi to everyone else.

Muser · 14/04/2011 11:52

Dorcas Sainsburys do an eco nappy. I'm planning on doing at least a mix of washable/disposable here. Just waiting to get some more of the washables I was trying. I've also ordered some washable wipes as a friend is using them and they seem great. I'm sick of cotton wool and hate regular wipes.

Sorry to hear there's still difficult times going on. Reflux sounds horrid clare.

I did have problems here due to non napping baby leading to screaming exhausted baby. Yesterday was much better because I took her out in the sling and she slept for at least 2 hours at a time. But she did have an hour of screaming at about 8pm. Not sure why. She's normally more grizzly and feeding a lot for comfort, but she wouldn't even feed last night. Hoping it was a one off.

Today we have been out in the sling already and again a nice long sleep. I think I'm going to be doing a lot of baby wearing! I'd like it if she'd nap in her basket, but I'll take what I can get.

We're off to have immunisations today. Not looking forward to that.

HappyGirl1 · 14/04/2011 13:22

The 'bugaboo donkey' is FAB!!!!

Muser glad to hear things are going well and baby geting naps :-) Hope the immunisations go well

Clare hope the reflux gets better soon

I'm a big 'aaargh' at the minute with some folk, some comments re why C "only sleeps 9 hours a night as she is meant to sleep for 12". So incredibly frustrating and annoyed about it all, we are delighted she sleeps 9 hours but no no no she is meant to do 12 according to lots of people and i'm sure she is meant to do that eventually but like she's only 4 months. Uuugh drives me scatty - i would never comment on other people's babies routines so blatantly

sorry I just needed to rant!

welcome stuffedmk

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 14/04/2011 14:30

Hi ladies, I seriously can't keep up the pace as I am struggling with feeding the spiderbabies, alternating feeds (feed both then next feed is a bottle) but even that is proving troublesome now Confused I so want to keep feeding them but it is so bloody stressful with DD1 around she gets no time with me at all Sad which is a mare especially as its the holidays......I just feel doused in guilt all fecking day! It is just gutting when I spend all morning with littlest spider on and off the boob (her latch is fine and I know she is getting the good stuff) really grizzling when off me until I cave and give her a bottle which she drains like I am starving her............do you think she is just comfort feeding or just having another spurt??? She had a bottle in the night (4oz) followed by a full boob feed.....so maybe a spurt.....HELLLLLLLLLLPPPPPP!!!!!

Sorry to come on and just be memememememememe but I know you will haddock me back into shape!

louisesh · 14/04/2011 14:35

Hi all
Well some good news!!!!!!!!!
Yes, i m 11 weeks pregnant with GBOS.Had 3 scans , heartbeat was seen at 6 weeks.Back on Aspirin and twice weekly pregnanyl injections under EPU.Got busted by Georgie's midwives earlier today when i was attending for a scan they "spotted" me so i had to come clen they were SO happy and will all be in for the section.EDD is 4/11/11 but at 37 weeks it's about the 14th 0ctober,4 days after Georgie's birthday.I ve seen my consultant and started on hvs[high vaginal swabs] 4 weekly, scan in 2 weeks ,then at 16 weeks then 20 weeks, then 3-4 weekly from 24 weeks.
All my staff are fabulous and so loving they all opted to care for us a s a family come October.Saw Georgie's remembrance book on the ward today ,unfortunatley 3 more entries have been made in 2 months.
Hope everyon'e well XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

DorcasB · 14/04/2011 15:06

That's wonderful news Louise. So, so pleased and excited for you. I'm glad you are getting such good care as well- wishing you a very boring and uneventful 26 weeks. (Is that right? Maths is not my strong point...) I was thinking about you this morning with the news about the high rate of still-born births in this country (compared to others). Very sad, especially as it seems many may be avoidable with better ante-natal care but good that the issue is being raised.
Thanks Muser, I'll have a look. Have you used them?

Muser · 14/04/2011 15:11

Oh Louise, that's wonderful news. I've gone all teary.

Gi1da · 14/04/2011 15:39

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!

BIG Mexican wave for Louise, Georgie and family xxx

clareanna · 14/04/2011 15:56

Oh Louise what wonderful news - GBOS is on the way!! So pleased for you xxx

Syringe worked brilliantly for delivery of IG and had first scream/ cough free BF in a week- hurrah! Feeling good- but has made me realise how extreme my mood swings can be...

Tip for syrine use- make sure you squirt it slowly into their cheek not straight down the back of their mouth. If you're using a dummy give it to them for a bit afterwards as the sucking makes sure they've swallowed it

clareanna · 14/04/2011 15:57

Syringe

louisesh · 14/04/2011 17:27

*t hanks all XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I know Dorcas I too heard about the article in the Medical Lancet it's disgusting the amount of babies stillborn in the UK.At least hopefully, at last, the issue will be hilighted now and more money ploughed in to research.Yes, i think 24 weeks left.
Enjoying the Mexican wave xxxxxxx

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 14/04/2011 17:29

great news louise thumbs up for your plan of care x

AlbaDeTamble · 14/04/2011 18:46

congrats again Louise

Gosh, October is going to be quite some bittersweet month for you xx

toomuchteaching · 14/04/2011 18:55

Oh louise brilliant brilliant brilliant, what fabulous news! You are such a trooper! Sounds like a great care plan, before you know it you'll be here with us moaning about the crying, sleeping, feeding and you'll totally deserve it, in the nicest possible way of course Grin

So I went to the BF clinic today, having never needed to at the start, to see if there was anything I could do to improve the wind situation. I think deep down I knew I'd got lazy with my positioning and latch. Anyway, as soon as I mentioned the excessive farting she told me all about what the problem was and gave me some tips about what to do. And we had an immediately better feed and a two hour nap. I'm hopeful we'll get some nighttime improvement too.

But why oh why don't pointless health visitors have a clue about breastfeeding, it's so bloody frustrating.

Thanks for your reply flowerysam, I'm back on Cerazette so no period for me. It must just be ongoing discharge which my black knicks have hidden... not happy, hope it's done soon.

Clare hope things continue to improve. Magic there was a lady tandem feeding twins there today and I thought of you... you are heroic whatever you're managing at the moment, don't feel guilty. Lovely to see you stuffed and muser I take the naps wherever they come.

I've decided that this country is a bit weird about sleep, I'm with you happy. PILs ask if she's sleeping through every time they phone. No she isn't, but you know what I'm ok with that right now. And I didn't want to cosleep (mostly because of others' opinions) but it's working for us at this point in time. I really believe you do what you need at any given time to get through, and I'm trying not to sweat it. Doesn't always work, but it's what I tell myself.

Oooh this is a bit mammoth, hope all are well... especially you Louise... FAB!

Redheadgal · 14/04/2011 19:46

Wahey!! Marvellous news Louise. I'm so so pleased for you!!

Thanks for your input guys - really very helpful. DH, DSD, DD and I spent the afternoon test driving (and falling in love with) the bugaboo bee. Apart from Ebay - is there anywhere else where I can pick one up secondhand?

Clare - hope the reflux subsides and T feels better soon. And that your littlest one's voracious appetite settles soon Magic.

C's decided that sleep is for wimps so not only is she now not sleeping at night, she's not napping, siesta-ing, dozing or snoozing during the day. Thankfully she's not grouchy about it, but can't wait for it to be over!

Tea's ready, gotta go. Waves to all.

louisesh · 14/04/2011 19:51

Thanks Redheadgal,Magic,Toomuchteaching and Alba indeed October will be a bittersweet month. Thanks all.Knew you'd all be happy XXXX
