A starter for 10 on our Sept 2010 babies as their first Christmas comes nearer! Can't believe we're there already; I was barely pregnant last Xmas!

Chelle1986 · 07/12/2010 16:50

Hi all, just checking in quick whilst DP does Olly's bum before his bot-bot!

Finished Olly's xmas pressies today. Got him a winter coat, some sleepsuits, 2 t-shirts, a little baby book with finger pupetts, some stacking cups and a steering wheel that sticks on to the high chair! Hehe. Sounds like I spoilt him but with some vouchers that I had and the fantastic 3 for 2 in boots I actually only spent £25!!

I've tried to get him clothes and "learning" toys rather than stuff that won't teach him anything! I'll leave that to DP! Sure he will buy him some diddy Timberland boots or something!! He already has his 6-9 month liverpool kit in the wardrobe!

Anyone heard from picklesarnie? I think we are missing an awful lot of people from the pre-natal thread? If you are reading then please check in and let us all know how you are getting on!

Hi lovetodance - glad to hear all is well. Some of us are on facebook - let us know if you want to be friends and we will send you our addresses. Great way to keep up with pics of all the gorgeous babies!

Oh was wondering - do all your LO's have a particular day when they are sent by the devil?! Olly's is most deifnately a Tuesday!

newmum001 · 07/12/2010 16:56

Ooooh who's on facebook? Send me ur adddresses and i'll add you. I'm dying to see pics of all the babies and i'm buggered if i can figure out how to put any of Grace on here.

Chelle - Grace is sent by the devil most days Grin although not today funilly enough she has slept most of the day! God knows what kind of night we're in for!

MammyG · 07/12/2010 17:05

Hello.
Welcome back lovetodance and well done! That took some determination. He is a lucky boy.
sassy Thank God - thought I was going mad! Have always had a poor memory but lately things have just been clear wiped from my brain. To the point where I have no memory of watching them/hearing them etc. Well can hold off on dementia testing for a while so.

Have given Pheobe a bottle by night to stop all the grazing. I was going mad for lack of sleep. The thing is now I am thinking of fully weaning her to bottles. She is getting quite fussy and I think its cause its all confusing now. She is in and out of routine at the moment but Im not bothered by it as she is still sleeping at 7 no bother. Will worry about proper routine after crazy of xmas is over.

Melly I found having a newbaby and a toddler the hardest time. Like you was lucky that Dh got it and understood but the first few months were hairy. Now its fab cause they are best buds. DS1 goes to playschool two mornings a week without his brother - you should see the re union when they meet up! Its adorable.

No jabs in the end today. Stupid health authority had booked me in at the wrong surgery Hmm. thought it was a bit weird as we are not registered there, so called to check and they said it was a mistake! Lucky I called. We have another appointment at out surgery in a couple of weeks, so postponed the deed for now. Thanks for the reassurance though!

Thanks for the routines people have posted too. Look similar to Arlo's really, waking about 8am for feed, then playtime for around an hour before zonking out again. Rest of day goes wake, feed, play, sleep over and over with feeds about every 2-3 hours although he tends to have a longer sleep late afternoon, sometimes about 4-8. Then daddy gets to play/bath before feed around 10pm, sleep till about 5am (wish it was 6am!), another feed and then back to sleep till 8. Good to compare!

Written all my crimbo cards and now have a lovely warming baby lying on me while I watch telly. Bliss!

My fb profile is [http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/profile.php?id=511508388 here] (saoirse lawlor kennedy if the link doesn't work)

love2dance, I'd been thinking of you, especially when my cousin's LO was born. He was born at 27 weeks and was in neonatal for 13 weeks. I'd been thinking how scary it must be to have an early baby.

chelle how did you get stuff that cheap? Where did you get vouchers from?

saoirse86 · 07/12/2010 18:25

Does [http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/profile.php?id=511508388 this] work?

saoirse86 · 07/12/2010 18:26

That'll be a no then!

saoirse86 · 07/12/2010 18:41

this is how you do it then

Chelle1986 · 07/12/2010 18:52

awell saoirse.....i got clothes from tesco which were £20 and i had £10 of clubcard vouchers. then i got the toys on 3 for 2 from boots which came to £20 - but i had a parenting club £5 off voucher and i actually paid for the rest with the voucher i got for opening my child trust fund with post office - so actually only spent 20 quid once i'd bought some more baby gros! boring really....lol but hey saved some pennies!

watersprite · 07/12/2010 19:18

Hi Ladies I see the thread is moving quite fast, been so busy with Maria-Ann not had time to even think.

Maria-Ann has started teething and she's only 11 wks, she is slavering loads and I have to keep a bib as there is so much. She is also trying to chew everthing in sight and I have checked her gums and they seem quite uneven, pale and hard poor thing. I've been using bonjela which only seems to work for a short while and now she will only accept her bottle if it's really cool.

Finding it all at bit much at times as now she will only settle for cuddles with me and this started from 6pm till 11pm but now she has started wanted me to pick her up and cuddle her from 10am onwards, I've tried letting her cry for 10-20 mins but she just wont settle. Any suggestions? if I go to put her down she will just scream.

Maria-Ann routine
4.30am feed
5.00-6.00am sleep
6.00 my O/H will take her down stairs she will drop off till 9am.
9am feed
9.30 she will want mummy to cuddle her, I will try and settle her after an hr in her rocker.
10.30am will play with her for a few hrs.
12.30am she will want a cuddle
13.00 pm feed
13.30-14.30 sleep
15.00 O/H will play with her
16.00 will try nap in her rocker
17.30 feed
18.00 cuddle on my knee and will play with her till 22.00
22.00 feed
22.30 nap on my knee till 11.30
11.30 bed till 4.30 am feed.

Routine slightly different if i go out or she has a bath.

sassy34264 · 07/12/2010 19:23

No mammyg you are perfectly normal!

beaditali don't be daft...nothing to forgive, wasn't offended in the slightest.

Cinnamon The coil can't be reached with tampons but the cord might be if they have left it long (they don't normally though). Your DH might be able to tell you if he can feel it during relations, so to spesk. Never heard of moon beam/face whatsit (got isobel in left arm, to hard to scroll back to check). What does you have to do with regards to feeding Luke? If it's just relaying what he eats, can't see a problem, but if it means doing it before you want to, or giving him stuff you wouldn't have done- i wouldn't do it.

newmum i'm [email protected]

Oh Jaysfourth yes where/how is she? Also keep wondering where/how Parkj83 is?

bananastew · 07/12/2010 19:27

saoirse I've requested you. I'm Lucy anyan adland.

Well I had two christmas nights out booked, both at the same venue, one with toddlers & one with work! The venue has shut! heavy ice & snow is making the roof unsafe! great!

Hi love2dance welcome back! I also wonder about jaysfourth do you think some people have lost the thread???

melly i'm finding a baby & toddler difficult too. Its lovely cos they're close in age but so demanding!

MammyG · 07/12/2010 19:42

How did i miss the whole facebook thing! Im on too - Majella Geraghty - Im the one holding the baby!

Watersprite Just looking at your routine I think MariaAnn is getting over tired. She doesnt have any long period of sleep. I know with mine esp DS2 he was impossible if I missed his half hour window! I didnt even realise what was wrong until another mum pointed it out. There is a point when you see them starting to wane first yawn etc. you have about a half to 3/4 of an hour after that. When they get over tired some get hyper (my son!) and very difficult to settle after that. Its sometimes difficult to get them used to -Im working on a longer nap with Phoebe at the moment. If you can I would suggest lying down with her for the first while. With Harry I only had to stay with him for 10 mins then help him settle later. With Max I had to have a nap and stay there with him for the first two weeks! Once he was in the routine and relied on the nap I was only going up to settle them. Usually I would put them down around 12/12.30 for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. in the afternoon they only napped for half an hour in their rocker or so and then off to bed at 7pm. Hope that helps a little. Some babies are not natural sleepers and you really have to put in the time to work with them on it but it is only a matter of weeks and you will be all the better for it. Whatever you do tho stick with it for at least 10 days. Be militant! They will only get confused otherwise. Sorry for such a long post - but have been thru the wringer with Max so totally know what it is like!

cinnamongreyhound · 07/12/2010 20:12

sassy34264 Dr told me to wait a month before using tampons but the leaflet she gave me said to avoid them and if you do to be very carfeul when removing as they can pull the coil out. The mooncup is a little silicon cup that you put inside that collects blood and you then empty it, apparently every 8 hours. Less chemicals in your body, less waste for the environment and cheaper in the long run (they are £20 to buy though).

I have an appointment in Jan where they do a skin prick test and take blood to check if he has any exhisting allergies (which is my first worry). Then we get assigned a group one is ebf until 6 months and the other is breastfeeding but introducing foods they provide and no others until after 6 months. These are wheat, milk (in the form of yoghurt), eggs, fish, seaseme, peanut. You give them small amounts twice a week starting at 4 months. Although the recommendation for weaning is 6 months now, there isn't a lot of evidence relating to allergies that this actually is better. There are several countries which introduce foods earlier but in small amounts which possibly prevents allergies so they want to test these things. As a scientist I would like more evidence about what is the best thing to do and I am interested in their study and as a mum I would like to help babies that may or may not develop allergies as I know it is horrible for lots of babies/children. But on the otherhand I would never know if Luke did develop an allergy if it was because of what I did with relation to the study and I myself am not subjecting myself to anything I am making a decision for him which I know as mums we do all the time but am not sure I am making the right decision for him. My thought is that I can withdraw him at any time so if he is in the early weaning group I can leave before he actually starts weaning but I have still taken him to be poked and prodded beforehand

beaditAli · 07/12/2010 20:15

Phew sassy xx
saoirse what a gorgeous profile pic on fb!! Xmas Grin
You've all just made me aware that I wouldn't know if Jack naps at regular times from day to day. I just seem to put him down when he's sleepy but it could be hours different from the day before. I so need to organize myself but I'm too unorganized to find a pen and paper to make any kind of list Xmas Blush
Going to change my profile pic to one with me and The J Dog now! Xmas Grin
Oh.... back onto the nick name topic...... DH's latest....... wait for it!........
The dummy (only has it for an hour before bedtime!) has become The Dominican Republic! Xmas Confused Think he needs fresh air! Xmas Wink

cinnamongreyhound · 07/12/2010 20:26

And no dh can't feel the strings, had enough trouble finding them myself to check them! I apparently have a very postieror cervix.

Second mammyG about getting overtired watersprite. If Luke is just starting to get tired I can put him down and he will settle himself if I miss it and he is too tired I have no chance of him settling himself he just gets more upset and I usually then have to feed him to sleep, which I hate doing!

JodeyLea · 07/12/2010 20:49

sassy34264 · 07/12/2010 21:04

cinnamon No-one ever told me not o wear tampons......so i did for 6 years! I'm thinking they must leave the strings long now. Xmas Confused
I think the eat study is a personal judgement. I would think though that it would have been better to put those who intend to wait til the baby is 6months into one camp and those who would have been weaned earlier in another- but i suppose it depends if they are looking at other variables and deciding the groups on that. I haven't got an allergy, but i am wheat intolerant and i have been very ill once through it, so understand people wanting to try to help those with problems ie, your dh.

mammyg i found 2 people with your name but neither is holding a baby! Confused

Chelle1986 · 07/12/2010 21:17
