My stepdad always says he will put Luke in the garden if he carries on crying and often calls him pukey lukey! He Ioves the boys to bits too. Dh is the or with inappropriate language I'm afraid, swears all thetime! He called dss a tit on Saturday and ds1 said 'yes Alex, you tit Xmas Shock

bananastew · 06/12/2010 20:30

cinnamon thats only the routine cos I've been stuck in for a week so been able to do that! I normally go out everyday so its not as structured as that!

MammyG · 06/12/2010 20:43

Had just written post then stupid computer acted up and I lost it! Dont have time to do it again. Its all moving so fast here took ages to catch up. Will battle for computer time tomorrow tho after the dreaded budget I amy be found at the bottom of a large bottle of something strong!

mellymooks · 06/12/2010 22:45

comix yes it's me in Stroud!! Hope you've been having a nice time Grin

Had a total meltdown yesterday just feeling like I can't remember who I am anymore, just that I'm a BF machine and Mum to toddler and baby, actually realised I really needed a good howl as feel a whole lot better today and DP has been amazing doing loads of stuff and being the voice of reason as always.

clumsy that thread is so so sad, I cannot begin to imagine going through that.

Dixiebell · 07/12/2010 05:24

Arlo gets called Arlington because that's what comes up on predictive testing when you start to write his name!

Jabs today, I'm rather dreading it...

newmum001 · 07/12/2010 08:06

Morning all, dixie - Grace had her jabs a few weeks ago and although it is horrible we didn't see any side effects really, she slept for ages after and then cried for about half an hour when she woke up but other than that it wasn't too bad. Get some calpol just in case though.

Grace is officially teething, she seems to be in so much pain it's awful. She was up at 3.30am and we haven't seen that time in the morning since she was a few weeks old! It took 2 hours to get her back to sleep and dp gets up at 7 so didn't see much point going back to bed so i slept on the couch with her in her pram. She slept till 6.30 so i am now completely knackered. She's back asleep now though but im not even going to bother trying to get any sleep as she might not last long and i always feel worse after a cat nap!

Is anyone else going through teething hell yet? Makes me realise that she has never been much of a crier as recently she has cried loads and it breaks my heart. Poor little thing is so tired but just can not stay asleep. We've had to give her calpol the last 2 nights as the teething gel only seems to work for half an hour and then she's chewing her hands and crying again.

She has discovered her hands in the last couple of days and is just starting to figure out what they are for. It's so cute seeing her trying to grab things. She's also started to notice her feet, if you touch them while she's sat up and she can see you doing it the look on her face is priceless, she can obviously see us touching them and feel it but doesn't seem to be able to connect the 2 and she looks completely puzzled.

Finally managed to put my christmas tree up last night then had a little cry as me and DP were standing in front of it showing it to Grace cause i finally realised that my life has changed forever and every christmas from now on will be about her. It was really special!

Beadit - get a puppy Jack will love it and how cute for them to grow up together!!

Grace 12 weeks today (it's gone soooo bloody quick) she will be exactly 3 months next Tuesday i honestly don't know where the time has gone!!

comixminx · 07/12/2010 08:51

newmum, we think Aphra is teething too - lots of chewing on her hands, dribbling, crying... Last night wasn't too bad though she woke up about four times (after having slept the night through a few times recently, too!) - she went back to sleep each time easily enough after a feed. But Sat and Sunday nights were hell, worse than any night since when my milk came in! Didn't have / didn't think of Calpol and the teething cream gave a small amount of immediate relief but not enough for her to get back to sleep. Obviously horrid for her but I was despairing during some of Sunday night, I really just didn't know what to do. Oh well, we have calpol now and I won't hesitate to use it!

Morning. newmum i was up between 2am and 4.30am. Trying a little experiment to move the times of their sleeping patterns, it worked that last 2 nights but went a little haywire last night. They are both asleep now, which wasn't in the experiment! Oh well.

Mum has been round this morning to take DD to school (DP has car with him in Bath). She was chunnering (mumbling under breath) on to herself in the kitchen. Went like this;

" There's no point in talking to you at the moment, I tell everyone there's no point talking to my daughter at the moment, nothing goes in, not even the good stuff. The bad stuff you might expect not to go in, but even the good stuff doesn't go in."

She is refering of course to my rather big baby brain. She was talking to me not so long ago about something and then moved on. The who;e conversation lasted about 5 minutes tops. When i was leaving she said now don't forget to tell Lee. And i'm like 'tell Lee what?' I had literally forgot and when she told me again, i couldn't even remember talking about it!
I'm not worried at all cos i had it with DD. (Althouth admittedly i don't think it was this bad, but i put that down to having 2 babies and being older. Xmas Wink ) At that time i was 25 and a first time mum with no friends who had babies. I really seriously thought i was losing the plot at the time and i remember actually crying cos i thought i had mental health problems!
This time i'm just putting it down to evolution /survival- that's it's your baby's way of keeping you focused on them. Just wondered if anyone else had it?

newmum001 · 07/12/2010 09:07

Yep sassy i have baby brain, absolutely cannot concentrate on anything really!!

Sorry if tmi but has anyone else had a period yet? I'm on my second already and it's absolutely floored me. Im completely exhausted, come out in spots etc and it's really heavy, the last one was too but thought that might have had something to do with how much i bled after having grace but this one is just as bad! I remember my periods being heavy when i was younger and thats one of the main reasons i was on the pill for so long but this seems kind of unnatural! And i am so emotional and in such a bad mood all the time. The bad moods etc started over a week ago and i only came on on Sunday. Think a trip to the doctors is in order this week to get back on the pill!

Comix - Calpol is literally the only thing that gives grace any relief but we only tend to use it at night as i don't like the thought of giving it to her during the day aswell, dp's friend said something about powders that you put in every bottle as a pain relief thing but i couldn't find them in tesco, might have a trip to the chemist today.

beaditAli · 07/12/2010 09:08

Morning.... teething already? Oh bugger. We do get lulled into a false sense of security for a while don't we?!
sassy I don't seem to forget things but I'm aware that I find it really hard to concentrate on people talking to me. I sometimes feel like I've been really rude as they must feel really ignored! Tho i've never felt more ignored by my twinny at the mo. She' is unhealthily engrossed in Jack all the time! I can literally talk to her and she is just unaware that I'm even there! I do sound like a five year old but my volume levels aren't that low! Xmas Shock
I think I'd be slightly peeved if that was my Mum! Xmas Angry Did she ever have twins, another child and a partner living away??

Dixie if you've not left for the Docs yet... try not to worry. I know of very few babies who've suffered much after jabs and Jack was a weirdo and smiled at the nurse! Xmas Shock

Got my Mum coming over today to look after Jack so I can work. It has gone mad! I got on top of orders yesterday bit have woken up to another 9 since 6pm yesterday. I am not leaving the house in January so we can not have our meet up then??!! [[fbear]

saoirse86 · 07/12/2010 11:10

beadit February it is!! Except not the weekend sassy having her babies' christening. I had a dream loast night about our meet up. Everyone decided to come to Birmingham to our pub and I was in the kitchen cooking food and stopping to collect people from the station every now and then. I felt like a supermum, I wish I was like that in real life! Oh and Orlaith was walking and helping me cook Xmas Hmm!

I can't remember who was asking about routines, but ours is like this;
8.45 Orlaith wakes up and has a feed
11.00 another feed
11.30 nap
12.15 wake up
12.30 feed
3.00 nap
3.30 wake up
lots of random feeding until
9-9.30 get ready for bed and last feed
9.45 asleep
3.00 10 min feed
6.00 10 min feed
8.45 wake up
There's a bit more sleeping when we're out though.

Orlaith was really grumpy and kept waking up last night. At 6 I suddenly noticed a MASSIVE bogey coming out of her nose so I wiped it away and her nose started to bleed Xmas Confused so I decided to keep her in bed with me so I could keep an eye on her. She's been fine since.

I am not looking forward to teething time [why isn't there a scared emoticon?]

saoirse86 · 07/12/2010 11:17

sassy I was going to say, I've just started to feel a bit less baby brainish but I think it was worse for the first 8 weeks because of the lack of sleep, which is probably why yours is bad too.
I'm still doing the accounts for DP's business but only go in once a month. Each time, I've sat down and looked at the computer a few minutes because I literally can't remember what I'm doing or how to do it Xmas Confused

beadit I have one friend in particular who is obsessed with the babies. She'll visit me and my sister and we can be talking to her and a baby starts to do something and it's like she's forgotten we're even there. Her mum (who I hadn't seen in 2 1/2 years) keeps turning up to my sister's unannounced in the day. Luckily they don't turn up to mine very often because they don't like dogs. Thank god for portia! Xmas Grin

sassy34264 · 07/12/2010 12:14

Yes saoirse i have thought it is probably lack of sleep as well. I'm not bothered though as it is getting me out of having to do loads of things. Xmas Wink Playing dumb (well not really playing Hmm ) is fun.

beaditali You would have to know my mum. She is very blunt and to the point but if you tell her she will get upset cos that is not how she means to be. She is as soft as shite really, with a heart of gold and after my kids she is the most important person to me in all the world (Don't tell DP) :o
She did have twins, but one was still born, so i wouldn't use the 'you didn't have twins what do you know' line on her, for obvious reasons. Xmas Sad

sassy34264 · 07/12/2010 12:16

saoirse Thanks for thinking about me with regards to my prior arrangements, cos i definately want to meet with everyone. Xmas Smile

Debs75 · 07/12/2010 13:13

Beadit Get a puppy!! I have always wanted a greyhound puppy but never been able to find one.

We don't have muh of a routine as i do things when Lucy wants but it tends to follow this pattern

08am wake up
08.30 am feed
09.30 am attempt a nap
11.30 am feed and snooze
13.30 pm feed
14.00 pm attempt a nap
16.00 pm feed and snooze
18.30 pm feed
20.00 pm feed and snooze
22.00 pm up to bed
01.30 am wake for a feed
06.30 am wake for a feed

She is in bed with us most of the time as it is too cold to sit up and feed or to shush her off to sleep. Don't want to wake dc3 either.

I weigh Lucy every fortnight. I like to know just how she is doing and the clinic is across the road. I was told with dc3 that I was going too often but I just ignored them. It got me out of the house.

newmum001 · 07/12/2010 13:16

I am extremely bored today, Grace has slept most of the day! I think we might struggle with her tonight but she's been so off colour cause her gums are hurting that i've just let her sleep for as long as she wants.

Are anyones babies rolling over or anything yet? grace keeps trying but just can't seem to get the hang of it. Although dp was playing with her on the couch the other day and she tried sitting up and ended up doing a forward roll into the cushions and smiling her head off! i was amazed the other day when i picked grace up how well she can hold her head up now. I didn't even notice this happening, also she's holding herself upright now with a little bit of help. I can't believe how quickly she is changing, i almost feel like i don't remember her being a tiny fragile baby anymore.

cinnamongreyhound · 07/12/2010 13:27

saoirse86 Luke has massive bogies he forces out of his nose at the moment but he can breathe much easier once he's done that but haven't had any blood with it. Don't be scared about teething not all babies struggle with teeth. My ds1 had problems with his first set of molars but otherwise was fine. He dribbled like Alien until he was about 18months!

Sorry sassy34264 but I had to laugh at the thought of your mum muttering to herself in your kitchen! I write EVERYTHING down but if I don't it's gone, plus I do the sit/stand in front of something and have no idea what I'm doing there. Or go to the fridge, open it and close it but actually haven't taken anything out!!!

Greyhound puppies are the cutest Debs75, when I got mine the people at the rescue centre actually made their money to run it from racing and so had a litter of puppies, they were hilarious but totally manic!

I found with both of mine I was much worse than them with the jabs Dixiebell. I was actually shakey and sweating with Luke even though I have done it loads with ds1!

My periods were much heavier after I had ds1 and much more painful. I have never had heavy periods before so was a bit shocked, but I haven't had one so far since I had Luke just a bit of spotting last week as I had a coil fitted.

I am loving how beautiful it is outside, I know it's really cold but the bright blue skies and everything being frosty makes up for it Xmas Grin. It's Christmassy winter wonderland!

sassy34264 · 07/12/2010 13:35

cinnamon Don't worry i laughed too. She was saying it in a exasperated, incredulous, what are we going to do with you, kind of way.

Love2Dance · 07/12/2010 15:28

Hello. Anyone remember me? Earliest baby born on thread (Raphael) by ecs at 32 weeks on 23 Jul. I will try to catch up but just wanted to say congrats to all. I haven't been on MN for ages but look forward to a chat. Biggest challenge has been establishing breastfeeding. I was expressing every 3 hours as R couldn't feed; battling with the hospital not to allow a bottle (and losing); weaning R away from bottle to breast (much harder than other way round). But we got there. R now fully breastfed but still small and can take an hour to feed. Current nightmare? Coordinating (nursery)school run with feeds, oh, and dealing with a stressed cat with accompanying pee and sh*t.

Is Willthecatbejealous still on here? If so, was it?

Ta ta for now

19 wks + 4 (11 + 4 corrected)

sassy34264 · 07/12/2010 15:46

Hi, lovetodance thought about you a few times. Lovely to hear you are both well. Why, when all the literature insists breast is best do they try and get them on the bottle in hospital? I was in tears at my hospital cos mine had to have some bottle fed at times and Isobel was tube fed in SBCU. Had to fight the doctors with a little help from the breast feeding co-ordinators (thank god for them) to stop them from doing it more than necessary.
Never heard from wilthecatbejealous, although she may be reading.

sassy34264 · 07/12/2010 15:49

Also thought about bessie123 Hi if you are reading, hope you are well?

mapletrees · 07/12/2010 16:02

Hi love2dance. Good to hear you're doing well and well done on weaning Raphael onto the breast. I don't know about Willthecatbejealous, but our's (cat, I mean) isn't, just extremely disinterested. He normally legs it when he sees a child/toddler but doesn't seem to have connected Louis to them. Oh he's in for a treat when Louis start to get mobile and interested Xmas Grin

beaditAli · 07/12/2010 16:15

Oh sassy hope I didn't offend re: your Mum. And I had forgotten about her twin experience.... Blush I think it just gave me visions of mine who is wonderful with Jack but can be very blunt and a little cold with me at times. Xmas Confused
Anyway, just dropping in quickly but have to get back to you know what before Jack comes home with DH.
Debs75 why not get a rescued ex racer? So many get dumped in the most hideous ways as they're generally only good to race for the first 2-3 years then a lot of trainers discard them Shock Sad they do make the most adorable pets and mine never, ever barked or jumped at anyone. Never messed in the house and never begged for food. He was adorable and had never lived in a house before we got him at 6 years old! Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 07/12/2010 16:48

Mine is pretty much the same beaditAli apart from the food part! She is a total nightmare with food, steals it, watches you while you eat and is eats things off the floor while out (which has given her one very serious tummy bug that meant she had to be kept in at the vets). She's amazing with all the kids but was terrified of dss when she first met him!

I have 2 random questions for you all. Firstly has anyone tried a mooncup? I am a bit weary of using tampons with my coil but I hate using pads so thought I might give it a go. Also, I have enrolled Luke in the EAT study but am having second thoughts, anyone else had an invite or have any thoughts about it?

Of course we remember you Love2Dance! I often think of you and Jaysfourth too as your babies both had dramatic entrances into the world. I don't remember willthecatbejealous I'm afraid.
