A starter for 10 on our Sept 2010 babies as their first Christmas comes nearer! Can't believe we're there already; I was barely pregnant last Xmas!

Debs haha, me too. Was all very smug astook Arlo in pram to Sainsbury's (heaving!), and got all my Christmas food now, but halfway home realised nothing to eat for dinner tonight or tomorrow. Unless we start early on the cocktail sausages and smoked salmon...tempting...!

Have also finished wrapping and marzipanned my cake! Arlo complied by staying asleep in his pram after we got back from shop. Even managed to eat lunch. Good boy!

TMI alert
Am starting to wonder about Lucy's poo's. They are very green and bitty, a bit like pesto.(sorry pesto lovers) There is no real substance to them and they smell quite vinegary. i've heard that green poo can be a sign of hungriness but surely they should be more substantial. dd2's were more like a paste by this age.

bananastew · 23/12/2010 17:35

Seems like this is my answer to everything but could she be teething?? That gives them vinegary poo. Or just off colour generally??

I'm all set for Christmas. My mums doing it Xmas Grin I think I'm super organised this year cos I'm so excited. I've had the boys clothes ready to pack since monday!

Had a bit of a poo nightmare today. Went to see dhs Gran. We went immediately after Ollys feed so I literally took a nappy each & a pack of wipes. What happens? He poos all up his back. Went to change his nappy & realised I'd put 2 of Tobys in so he had to have a size 4+ Then had no change of clothes so had to take Tobys vest off to put under his dungarees! Size 18-24months! Poor Olly!

clumsymumsnowdriftbaby · 23/12/2010 17:36

Id heard green poo meant they were ill or teething?arlos had them a few times, but its mainly yellow foam Grin

soo im braving the supermarket alone tonight Hmm
ive expressed 2oz atm incase im there for ages...do you reckon thats enough?ive really no idea as ive never bottle fed, help anyone?

cinnamongreyhound · 23/12/2010 19:54

Lukes poo is mostly very smooth but if he does one soon after the first it's bitty but yellow. I thought green poo was a sign of dehydration debs75 but not 100% sure. Ask the hv next time you see her.

clumsymumsnowdriftbaby Luke took 2oz when he first had a bottle but was 8 weeks then. Now he will drain a whole 6oz, this is very annoying as I only get 3-4oz each time I express! 2oz should keep him going till you get home I would have thought. Have you actually tried him with a bottle before? Both my boys took to it straight away as long as it was milk!! I have a friend who's baby point blank refused a bottle. Good luck with shopping we went this afternoon with my one remaining minded child and it was actually ok!

saoirse86 · 23/12/2010 20:59

I've seriously got to go to the supermarket tomorrow as I'm finally getting my car back from DP. I'm really not ready but luckily I'm not cooking (no one would want me to cook!). Still have presents to collect that I bought online but thought I'd save on postage. I almost wish I'd just paid it.

debs If the poo has been like that the whole time then it can't be a sign of anything bad. I can't remember how you're feeding but I was using SMA formula at the beginning and that gave Orlaith pesto-type poos. I asked the HV and she said it's often the case with SMA so I changed to check it was just that and it was. They changed to yellow paste type poos straight away.

clumsy I know it's a bit late but from what people say on here babies this age take anywhere between 4 and 7oz at a time normally. When I was expressing after Orlaith was born I could easily get 5oz but that was doing both breasts.

clumsymumsnowdriftbaby · 23/12/2010 21:06

just got back,he was asleep the whole time so he was fine...but that is really good to know for future reference.thanksSmile

Dixiebell · 23/12/2010 22:10

debs, Arlo sometimes has pesto poos. Or mint sauce! I read somewhere it was if they are getting too much foremilk and not enough hind milk, so asked the HV, and she said it was normal for bf babies. But it's not that colour all the time for Arlo, I reckon it tends to be when he's had a short feed, so maybe is to do with foremilk? I'd check with HV if it's all the time.

Went back to supermarket tonight with DH and Arlo to get the heavy stuff (ie wine & beer) and was surprised by how not busy it was! Also got dinner for tonight and tomorrow now Xmas Grin

MammyG · 23/12/2010 22:40

Boys were delighted to have their cousins around today! Got last minute shopping and have desert for xmas eve made. Will have head start on xmas day dinner tomorrow. Am just loving it! Thought I would be really lonely without Dad and Im sure we will all miss him at the dinner table but remembered a few days ago that I got my absolute love of Xmas from him and it has just warmed me no end. Even went and bought Phoebe another little xmas number today for tomorrow eve. You know the little santa dresses! Wasnt going to bother but had SIL with me today and we both said she would look totally dotey and the photos would be fab! Very flimsy reasons but hey!

I prob wont log on again until after xmas so just want to wish you all the very best. I hope you all relax, enjoy and wrap yourselves up in your lovely babies and children. For those of you who are celebrating your first xmas with a baby- dont listen to anyone who says they are too young or dont understand blah blah - just revel in your lovely first xmas together and start your own traditions.I hope Santa is equally as good to all you wonderful mums! Thank you for your support, perspective and humour. I will raise a glass to ye and send out a little xmas wish for all of you xx

cinnamongreyhound · 24/12/2010 00:33

Merry Christmas MammyG!!! Sounds like it will be a good one for you even if your dad isn't here to share it. I got Luke an outfit today and dh said dies he really need one for just one day! I think my face told him that yes he did, it was on sale so only £4.75-bargain!

Dixiebell I am no expert but from what I've read on other mn threads the thought now is that there aren't two kinds of milk, just that the longer milk is in the ducts the more fat deposits it picks up so it's creamier when it's coming later in the feed as it's been sat around longer. Not sure if it's true though as I haven't taken the time to look it up elsewhere!

Soooo excited it's Christmas!!! Off to dr tomorrow morning with ds1 about his hearing as his new teacher has suggested that could be the reason for his poor speech, only one child tomorrow then the festivities can begin, yay!!!

comixminx · 24/12/2010 09:18

Christmas eve, yay! In previous years I've not been all that excited about it apart from it being a holiday, but this year it does seem more exciting! BeaditAli, I hope you recover well from your pre Christmas rush; MammyG, enjoy the family around you; everyone, have a lovely Christmas eve and Day, with whatever tradition you come up with, reinvent, or prolong...

cinnamongreyhound · 24/12/2010 11:59

Just made gingerbread biscuit mix with ds1 and my minded little boy while Luke is asleep. Have to leave the dough in the fridge for 3 hours, very hard for them to understand! They are now watching Casper, not great Childminding behaviour buy hey it's Christmas Xmas Grin

Dr was useless, have to go to hv for hearing tests for under 5's but she did have a look and say he has very healthy ears!

I think Christmas is emotional bananastew, reminds you of everyone you want to be sharing it with you but aren't and it always makes me look at how lucky I am and the start of a new year and all the good things to come.

Have a wonderful Christmas all of you!! I really feel like I have a new group of friends here, where did the last 3 months go?!?

On a slightly different topic, I have been looking at coats beaditAli and found this on eBay Xmas Grin

patito · 24/12/2010 19:03

Merry Christmas everyone!!! Wont be back now till next week, so hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow.

We´re about to have supper and sit and watch Gruffalo before bedtime. I think Id like to establish a xmas eve tradition, like the suggestion of new PJs (sorry cant remeber who), with a disney film maybe? Have to get it sorted for next year.

watersprite · 26/12/2010 01:02

Chelle1986 Congratulations Xmas Smile

Well Christmas was amazing, loved the look on my daughter faced when she opened her presants and Maria-Ann loves her new bear Xmas Grin.

My sort of routine has totally gone, Maria-Ann is waking usually about 2am,4am, 5am and then is up at 6am. She used to at least sleep 4 hrs at night all in one go! I've put her in her cot tonight at 9pm and she settled at 10pm, I'm waiting for her to wake for her nxt feed she should of woken by now, just my luck if I was in bed she would be waking up. Thinking I should go and wake her now.

Hope you all had a really good Christmas Xmas Smile

Maria-Ann 13wks +4

comixminx · 26/12/2010 08:41

Oh Chelle, many congratulations indeed! What a lovely day to get engaged - it must all feel very special.

Watersprite, bad luck about the routine going to pot - I suppose these things do change over time and it will improve again afterwards, but I hope that time comes soon!

Aphra got some lovely stuff, including a summer grobag (in a large size so she wouldn't be wearing it for a little while anyway - a slight shame but it does mean it'll last longer), a beautiful playmat that my aunt made, and a nice little stocking for Christmas presses that DP's SIL made! Also, we gave my mum & dad a photo frame with pictures of all three grandchildren in it.
