A starter for 10 on our Sept 2010 babies as their first Christmas comes nearer! Can't believe we're there already; I was barely pregnant last Xmas!

clumsymumsnowdriftbaby · 21/12/2010 22:33

bannana i think he is teething,Shock he's drooling, biteing, and grumpy...although i hadn't linked it! ummm maybe i'll get him checked out before his jabs!Hmm

no temp though...

hi melly!! bless your dd! did she have a lovely birthday?! fingers crossed you can get out tomorow! Smile

bananastew · 22/12/2010 09:02

I'd get him checked clumsy just incase its not teeth! Although our gps are very antibiotic happy! my friend walked in with her lo because of his skin and the dr said "oh, he sounds a bit wheezy, I'll give him some antibiotics" didn't even listen to his chest! No wonder there are super bugs around!!!

The snows back here! Xmas Sad

clumsymumsnowdriftbaby · 22/12/2010 09:57

well,im trying to get hold of the doctors, but so far no answer...id like to have sky seen too as shes had a nasty cough for 4 days now (dont we sound like a healthy bunch!Hmm)
do you reckon i can make one app for both of them? or are they going to make me go down twice?!

saoirse86 · 22/12/2010 10:19

Receptionists annoy me too, especially at our health centre. Why is it that I can be standing infront of them for 15 mins waiting to tell them I'm there for an app while they answer the phone to other people and then I get told I'm lucky to be allowed in because I'm late (I wasn't late when I arrived! Xmas Hmm ) Maybe I should get my phone out next time and call to let them know I'm there! Xmas Grin Oooh I am so doing that!

Orlaith's had a cold (coughing, sneezing, watery red eyes) for over 3 weeks now. Every time I've called the doctors they've said there's no appointments. I called on friday but they said there's no way I can get an app before january so to go to the walk in centre. The walk in centre is about 3 miles away. I found out yesterday that the reason it doesn't look like buses are running is because they're not (well they stop before they get as far as us), and the reason the roads look like they haven't been cleared is because they haven't. Apparently birmingham city council have better things to do Xmas Hmm .

clumsy they should do a joint app, to get you out the way if nothing else!

I'm still stuck without a car but I'm going to have to have a walk today, serious cabin fever kicking in!

clumsymumsnowdriftbaby · 22/12/2010 10:43

saorise ask for an emergency app, they dont get to ask why, just say you're concerend about your baby.and they should fit you in.Smile

comixminx · 22/12/2010 11:38

Hi folks, well, we got to Liverpool ok and it's beautiful here! Glad to be here - we don't have to go anywhere else for nearly a fortnight now, what luxury! But Aphra had a dreadful night last night - had to take her into our bed and feed her lying down so we could get any sleep (I find it a bit uncomfortable to get into the right position so it's not something I do normally). Also the bed is really really really hard so both DP and I feel like our hips ache from lying sideways! Anyway we can nap during the day so that'll be fine.

Good luck with appointments and ailments! Walking in the snow's very tiring anyway, even more so with a baby, so factor in recovery time and lots of cuppas and biccies!

So as well as 1 tap not working we have found a leak near the radiator pipe in Dd1's room. The plumber is coming today to fix ther tap so will ask him to have a look at dd's room. Hope it's nothing serious as mum is coiming on Friday and she will be sharing dd's room, not nice if the flooring is up to access pipes.
It was another cold night last night so had Lucy in with us again. I don't think it is worth putting her in her cot whilst it is so cold. Then again if I kepp her with us she might never go in her cot.
Oh what to do??????

Lucy has her 3rd set of jabs tomorrow but I am leaving it till after christmas. She pooed non-stop after the 2nd set and her sleep went haywire so I would rather have her do that when we aren't stressing with christmas.

clumsymumsnowdriftbaby · 22/12/2010 12:55

arlo has an appointment today at 4.10
then his jabs tomorow at 2.15
then sky has an app tomorow at 3.10...
it takes 20mins each way.
thats alot of walking through the snow for mummy,oh to have a car...

Chelle1986 · 22/12/2010 13:17

I'm back online!!! wooo hoooo! Just going to catch up....! Xmas Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 22/12/2010 13:24

saoirse86 they are usually very good when it's a baby, but if it is just a cold there isn't a lot they can do and I personally hate taking them to the dr. unless necessary because there are so many other bugs to pick up there!

Poor you clumsymumsnowdriftbaby, take a flask and snacks for dd and camp out there tomorrow Xmas Grin

Good luck Debs75, plumbing is a nightmare.

Kids all sleeping now, got 2 more in 5 mins. So looking forward to my 4 days off! Only one more present to arrive and that is from my Dad to dss. Oh and a naughty little on for dh Xmas Blush but doesn't matter too much if that doesn't arrive.

Does anyone have any Christmas eve traditions?

14w+2

clumsymumsnowdriftbaby · 22/12/2010 14:23

i think i might start one this year, new pj's and a christmassy book or dvd, hang stocking ubove fire place in dd's room with mince pie and baileys? father christmas likes baileys right? Xmas Wink

saoirse86 · 22/12/2010 14:46

Father christmas loves baileys!

They don't seem to care much about her cold, and to be honest I'm not worried about her, it's just that it's been over 3 weeks and she must be getting fed up with it. It's stopping her from sleeping well too because she gets so bunged up lying down. I might just persevere with the nasosal and extra cuddles Xmas Grin !

I have some clashing christmas eve traditions now. My mum always goes to midnight mass (despite being a recovering catholic - her words, not mine), my dad and his partner have a drinks party and DP's family have a chinese meal. I have done all 3 a couple of times but not this year Xmas Hmm

clumsy you might as well stay the night there, they won't mind!

cinnamon 4 days off?! Do the children's parents have to work or something?! (and are you divulging info on DH's pressie? teehee)

I will wrap some presents ....... just as soon as I've finished my tea and biscuits Xmas Smile

mellymooks · 22/12/2010 15:01

Ello everyone, still mega snowed in here and looks like there's more on the way if the sky is any indication.

clumsy you take care out there, it's always so tricky with docs.

I need to make an appointment too but think I will wait til after xmas as don't think there's any hope of getting in beforehand, I need to get checked too banana as I don't think I've healed completely and it seems a long time now, I'm still very "red" in one area sure it should look better than that by now - you are not alone!!

Am starting to think we had better get some yummy supplies in incase we can't go away on xmas day, otherwise we gonna be having a feast of oven chips, fishfingers and peas Xmas Grin and as I don't eat meat or fish that's just chips and peas for me - hardly a xmas treat....

We can only go on foot though so we're limited to how much we can buy at any one trip whilst wrangling a toddler and baby and super slippy streets, ah well tis an adventure!

Flynn 3 months todat Grin

mellymooks · 22/12/2010 15:02

or even today

Dixiebell · 22/12/2010 15:08

My Arlo had his first jabs this morning, clumsy. He was so happy in the surgery, loving watching everyone in the waiting room, smiling at the nurses, so was heartbreaking when he got jabbed - he looked so hurt that we'd ruined his fun. Now he's asleep on me, got loads to do but don't want to move because he keeps crying when he wakes. I'm getting soppy, just cried at the video for last year's X-Factor Christmas single (was for a children's hospital)!! Oh well, suppose the wrapping/icing/tidying will just have to wait... [

Dixiebell · 22/12/2010 15:09

You two are a bit weird. Are your girls about the same age too?

saoirse86 · 22/12/2010 16:48

Noooooooo, I just realised my advent calendar has no number 25 and therefore no christmas day chocolate Xmas Sad what will I do?!

cinnamongreyhound · 22/12/2010 16:54

I didn't clumsymumsnowdriftbaby but I don't see why you couldn't give them something to take their mind off it I suppose. Luke was very brave with both of his so far, last one on 13th January (will be 4 months then Xmas Shock)

saoirse86 it's just some sexy undies (breastfeeding doesn't lend itself to the nicest bras especially with breast pads in them), fishnet stockings (hoping they go up my huge thighs!) and a pair of fluffy handcuffs (which may or may not get used!)

I'll join in mellymooks, why not!?!
Favourite colour green
Play Clarinet, sing a lot but only my babies like it!
Have only ever lived in England Xmas Sad
I love being by the sea and a nice walk in the woods is good too.

I think clumsy's little girl is a few months younger than mine? Is that right clumsy?

My DD and her Daddy are out on our deck building a snowman, I think he's enjoying it even more than her!!

saoirse you know that means there will be no xmas day in your house don't you, you will be stuck at xmas eve FOREVER!!!!!!
