A starter for 10 on our Sept 2010 babies as their first Christmas comes nearer! Can't believe we're there already; I was barely pregnant last Xmas!

saoirse86 · 18/12/2010 21:06

head I meant

cinnamongreyhound · 18/12/2010 21:56

I am glad bananastew was brave enough to ask saiorse86 I wasn't brave enough. I imagined something closer to sea horse Xmas Blush, say orss or something like that!

Glad those with snow are all safe. I had a nap with Luke today, first time since he was about 5 weeks. Always feel awful after sleeping in the day but it's lovely to snuggle up with my little man.

13w+5

MammyG · 18/12/2010 22:42

Oh sounds lovely cinnamon With ds1 I used to regularly nap with him. No chance these days. I have my morning snuggle with Phoebe but am usually so tired I just conk!
Wrecked today (these 5am wake up calls not suiting me at all!) and decided if I stopped I would fall down so ground floor of house gleaming! Hope to do upstairs tomorrow. Had lovely tea out with a friend this afternoon and let the lot to DH.
Hope snow doesnt stop my brother and his family getting here for xmas. As its our first one without dad they are the major distraction! So fingers and toes crossed they make it.
Have to plan food etc now and get sorted - usually I dont get caught up in the stress side of xmas but my mom is a stress carrier and she is all over this one! I will be demented by wednesday!

bananastew · 19/12/2010 06:44

Been thinking of you MammyG, with your dad and everything! Hope you get through Christmas ok!

cinnamon I think you were closer than me! I had something with a hidden w in it! like swar-say Xmas Blush!

another 5.30am get up! what time do your los get up? I remember ds1 doing this but can't remember how long for!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/12/2010 10:16

Luke wakes between 6 and 7 but at the weekend when ds1 is still in bed so the house is quiet he goes back to sleep for a while bananastew. ds1 was always up at 6 until he was about 2 Xmas Sad

JodeyLea · 19/12/2010 11:19

Morning ladies! Well the snow is still everywhere. Looks so pretty but its a nightmare if you have to go out anywhere. We are supposed to be visiting MIL this afternoon as she's been suffering with a bout of stress and depression so all the family are turning up as a surprise. I'm reluctant to go as lost my voice from talking too much at my works do on Friday and Harlyn as been coughing since yesterday. sounds very chesty and then today his nose has started running. Going to attempt a visit to the GP tomorrow. He hasn't got a temperature and seems ok within himself but I'm worried it could get worse if we take him out in this weather. Has anybody else's LO suffered with a cough or cold at all? If so any tries and tested remedies would be much appreciated.

sassy34264 · 19/12/2010 12:15

Sorry about your dad mammyg hope they make it for xmas to make it merrier for you all. x

Saoirse Laughing cos so far there have been five ways posted to pronounce your name and none of them are my way either! I have it as either cerise (as in the colour) or sigh-rose in my head. Xmas Confused Xmas Blush

jodylea Mine aren't ill yet, but it won't be long i think. I have woke up feeling crap the last 2 days, with sore throat. Woke up today, feel fine, don't have a sore throat, but I'm coughing, my voice is husky and i have catarrh on my lungs (sorry tmi) Isobel sounds slightly chesty, but not too bad yet.
Hope Harlyn is better soon. Don't you need your voice for gigs? Hpe you've not got any booked soon!

bananastew · 19/12/2010 12:41

I'm so pleased I'm not the only one with the wrong pronunciation I bet your having a right giggle saoirse only problem is that I've been saying it wrong in my head for so long that I don't think i can change it!!!

watersprite · 19/12/2010 19:38

Feeling really guilty today my other daughter who is 7 stays at her nans on a saturday but got a call this morning saying she was vommiting at 3am this morning :( Anyway she wanted to come home today but is still vommitting and lots of children at school have had this bug and it's lasted for about 24hrs. My nan said she would keep her there tonight and hopefully when she comes home tomorrow it wont be pass on to Maria-Ann, I can't help but feel guilty though. I've rang loads to see how she is and the vommitting has slowed down a bit. I let her open one of her xmas presants which she really liked.

Maria-Ann slept loads better last night, she woke twice but went back to sleep quite quickly, She seems to like the swing which settles her when she can't settle.

saoirse86 · 19/12/2010 20:36

I'm so used to being called the wrong thing that I pretty much answer to anything that I can tell is supposed to mean me. I had a lecturer who was belgian, and no matter how many times I told him how to say it, he still pronounced it saucy! Xmas Hmm

We've had a day at home today although DP's sisters and one SIL's partner walked over for a visit and dinner. One of them brought muffins too Xmas Grin !

jodeylea Orlaith had a cold about 3 weeks ago which still hasn't completely gone. I got nasal drops for her from boots and that really helps the sniffly nose.

Orlaith slept from 11.30-7.30 last night, woke up screaming for a feed then went back to sleep till 9.50. It was so good to get that much uninterrupted sleep. I've got my fingers crossed for another good night but won't hold my breath.

beaditAli · 19/12/2010 21:31

jodeylea sorry Harlyn is under the weather Xmas Sad Jack had a cold around 3 weeks ago too. Nasal drops before a feed definitely helped him breathe whilst feeding and one of the best things I think was popping a few drops of olbas oil on a tissue then putting it on a radiator in the room we were in. My GP recommended this as well as making sure there's a bowl of water on radiators to prevent the air in the room drying out.
Also, putting him on his tummy for a few minutes miraculously made SO much snot come out his nose. It was quite unbelievable how well it worked! Xmas Smile His cold didn't last long really so hopefully Harlyn will be back to himself soon.
saoirse 8 hours?? Well done Orlaith! She's got an hour on Jack! Xmas Grin

Went to see my friend's week old little boy Noah yesterday. He's gorgeous but mum's tummy looks so smooth! I'm so jealous! She has a bump still but the skin isn't wrinkled. My skin is horrid. Does anyone else have wrinkly skin?? I'm worried that even if I get rid of my bump soon, the skin will always sag Xmas Sad
Lil/big Jack stretched my tum SO much Xmas Sad
Where are those repair men chelle????

MammyG · 19/12/2010 21:54

Saoirse Jealous of long sleep!
Jodey Like the others Phoebs had a cold a few weeks ago and is generally a bit phlegmy. I find the nasonasal really good and propping her mattress up a little. My friend swears by the olbas oiltoo. Must try the water on radiators tho.
Boys are so excited - santa coming to creche tomorrow. Seems to me between school, creche, santa to the various clubs etc they see him about 3 times before xmas eve. Anyone else think its all a bit ridiculous? We used to see him once when we were young and that was it. The boys are having their heads turned with all the presents! Spose thats what it is all about for them.
Anyone cooking anything different this year? Or what are your favorite foods for xmas?

saoirse86 · 19/12/2010 22:04

beadit I have been very lucky that my skin's not too bad, although Orlaith was only 6lb 14oz. I've just lost the tone rather than got wrinkly skin. My sister hasn't been so lucky, although it's mainly stretchmarks that she's got.

Since I had Orlaith I've been having horrible shooting pains all over my belly and lower down too. I thought it'd get better but it still hasn't. The MW told me after 8 days that my uterus had gone back completely. When I had my 6 week check the doctor said it had gone back too but when I asked about these pains she said it was my uterus contracting. I don't think it can be that because some of the pains are much higher or much lower. Has anyone else had these pains? Xmas Confused

My sister called me earlier to tell me that her LO sat up unaided for the first time yesterday. She's 13 weeks 2 days and I'm so Xmas Envy . I want Orlaith to do it too. When did your children first do it?

saoirse86 · 19/12/2010 22:11

My dad used to dress up as santa and have a 'grotto' in the porchway of the local church. We always knew it was him because of his red shoes that he always wore. He always tried to say it wasn't him and he only actually admitted it was him 2 weeks ago. I was a bit disappointed that he'd final told us! Xmas Sad

MammyG I always have about 3 dinners on christmas day with various relatives and they're often weird because I'm veggie and allergic to gluten. Last year my mum made stuffed peppers!

MammyG · 19/12/2010 22:41

Oh my gosh - my sides are sore! Read the thread on stories told to teachers!

cinnamongreyhound · 20/12/2010 07:37

I was very lucky in pregnancy beaditAli with my skin, was a bit wrinkly as I lost weight but is back to normal now. I have a lot of stretch marks from when I went from 9 1/2 stone to 18 1/2 stone in about 8 months at 19 but didn't get any when pregnant.

Sitting is usually around 6 months saoirse86, ds1 was 5 1/2 when he sat up consistently- the only thing he did early!!!!! Luke slept through 3 nights in a row last week but hasn't since so I'm Envy too!

I second the nasal drops jodeylea, you can use the karvol plug in from 3 months too.

I think you are doing the right thing watersprite, she is obviously happy with her nanny if she goes every Saturday.

beaditAli · 20/12/2010 10:55

Oh just having a meep meep. My brother was trying to get home from San Fransisco this week but will now be stuck in Vancouver until at least Christmas Day coz of the airports here closing. So sad Xmas Sad
Why is Christmas so flipping logistical sometimes??

Debs75 · 20/12/2010 11:04

Having a lazy day today as it's my birthday.
Dp made breakfast dd1 made me a cup of tea and is tidying the car out. We are off out for dinner to the local pub then back home for a snooze before ds comes home from school.
DD2 and Lucy are keeping me busy as they have both done really stinky poo's which I had to change.

Lucy is desperate to roll over but can't quite manage it with her reusable nappies on. She watched the strictly final with me on Saturday and she dropped off to sleep before the results. Still not sleeping well in the cot but she is slepping better then dd2 who is waking with nightmares and then taking over our bed.

Saoirse I assumed you said it like soiree with se on the end

bananastew · 20/12/2010 12:54

Happy birthday Debs

I've been really lucky with both my pregnancies! I only really put on baby weight, could still wear my normal clothes even when 9 months (little uncomfortable) No stretch marks & was straight back to a size 8 & in my clothes the day they were both born. In fact there's a photo of me when ds1 was 3 days old wearing size 6 shorts!

Saoirse are you sure she wasn't just well balanced? Olly can if you balance him right. Cinnamon ds1 was the same! 5 1/2 months and the only thing he did early! He didn't even roll till he was 10 months!

I think Ollys having a growth spurt. He's been taking 7oz mil said yesterday that I should start giving him something more solid if he's taking that much, rather than just give him more milk! He's sleeping all the time too. Just wish ds1 would so I could!!

Olly 16 weeks tomorrow Xmas Shock

saoirse86 · 20/12/2010 13:13

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEBS

banana I think I speak for everyone when I say I hate you and your size 6 shorts!! Xmas Envy !!!

Maybe she was well balanced then. Sometimes Orlaith can do it if she's well balanced but she has a big tummy to rest on Xmas Wink Imara's so tiny she can't have been resting on her tummy. There's a little boy at a baby club we go to and he was sitting up happily from when we first went and he was only 17 weeks then. He was reaching for things too so can't have just been balanced. Maybe he's very advanced.

I'm terrible that I did loads of reading about pregnancy but know nothing about what babies do at what kind of age. Xmas Hmm Why is it that HV's are always talking about being careful about babies rolling off things if they can't do it for ages yet? At our HV-run baby club the oldest baby is about 14 weeks and they've still told us every week for the last 4 weeks. Xmas Confused

cinnamongreyhound · 20/12/2010 14:55

ds1 didn't roll at all bananastew, he crawled a week before his birthday and walked at 16 months, but was huge so I think this didn't help.

saoirse86 4 months is average for rolling but one of my minded children did it first at 8 weeks Xmas Shock

mellymooks · 20/12/2010 15:00

saoire I've been having similiar pains too, especially in my pelvis, mine are worsened if I split my legs when getting up off the floor or if I try and sit crosslegged, anything really that "opens" the pelvic area too much.

I wondered if I'm suffering from this?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphysis_pubis_dysfunction

Does this sound like what you're experiencing?

We have so much snow here now, I really hope it's cleared enough by the end of the week to travel.

My DD was sitting up with support from about 4 months, crawling at 6 months and walking at 9 months, but I think this is quite early, most of her little friends didn't start crawling til 9 of 10 months, I was envious because they were all still happily sitting about chatting while their babies were immobile whereas I was running about chasing a crawler who wanted to know what everything was and missing out on all the tea, gossip and cake!!

I will be quite happy for Flynn to take his time getting mobile but I think this maybe wishful Xmas Wink

12weeks+5

mellymooks · 20/12/2010 15:01

wishful thinking is what i meant....

Debs75 · 20/12/2010 15:31

Banana I could wear normal clothes all the way through this time and have had to buy smaller jeans after having Lucy. It helps I was pretty huge to start with, size 18-20 and lost a good 10 kilos before she was born. Might have put it back on with the jumbo chocolate sundae I had after dinner.Xmas Grin

DD1 was rolling over at about 5-6 weeks old and could sit pretty early, it took her ages to walk though. Lucy has been trying to sit forward for ages now when she is in her bouncy chair. She struggles if you sit her on her bum tho.

cinnamongreyhound · 20/12/2010 19:56

Happy Birthday Debs75, hope you've had a lovely relaxing day and a nice lunch.

I had spd with both my pregnancies mellymooks, it is mainly in the pubic bone area. It went by the time ds1 was 6 months. Still hurts now if I run but hoping it will be gone in a couple of months as with ds1.

Luke fell asleep on dh tonight and his eyes welled up with tears, was so lovely Xmas Grin
