A starter for 10 on our Sept 2010 babies as their first Christmas comes nearer! Can't believe we're there already; I was barely pregnant last Xmas!

How interesting about other people's hair - I guess it must be a timing thing! I suppose I understood that it fell out again after birth but actually it falls out a few months after for some reason. Hmm!

Just been on the phone to Mum. She is keen for me to go up to them (Liverpool) this weekend so that we can have more time together over Xmas, and so I can overlap with my brother, his wife and their LO. But I'd have to go by train because my DP has to work on Monday & Tuesday next week. In the end I've decided not to because i think it's likely to be a big faff, but she was trying quite hard to get me to change my mind... There are various baby things already at their place so I wouldn't need to take a bath for instance, but I can still see myself lugging masses of stuff around, plus a baby! The ticket prices are pretty dear right now too so I think there's lots of reasons not to do it, when I could wait just a few days more and go up with DP, but she has me reconsidering a bit, at least... It's not as if I don't see them every few weeks in any case!

Arrh just wrote really long post and it all disappeared.

Happy Birthday little Melly. Hope your having wonderful day.

Im malting! Dried hair this morning and actually had to hoover up Xmas Blush.

DS is still poorly and not sleeping much due to his cough, hes had avey short nap, so Ive stuck the telly on while I do some MN. Feels like last few weeks of being pregnant all over again.

Feeling guilty now so will coax him away from TV and go and make some biscuits.

Maria-Ann had last feed at 9.30pm and went to sleep at 11 she then woke up at 3am for nxt feed. Managed to get her settled again in her cot at 3.30am and she didn't wake till 6am, lucky really as she will normally only sleep in her cot for an hr after her feed Xmas Grin

Having a few problems with Maria-Anns feeds, she will down 5-6oz in under 20 min and then struggles with the rest she usually has 7oz. Just wondering if anyone else had similar problems? she really wants the rest but seems to be in lots of pain when trying to drink the rest, I end up giving up in the end. She has been like this for the past few days. I'm thinking i will give her 1-2oz then try winding her to give her a break so she doesn't guzzle it down to fast and maybe give her the rest with plenty of winding inbetween.

Birthday Hmm

bananastew · 13/12/2010 19:01

Olly woke at 5am cos he'd got his leg stuck in the bars of his crib! He'd been sick on his grow bag so just had a blanket on & managed to wriggle out! Was quite pleased tho cos he settled back off till 6.30!

He and his little friend were laid under his gym yesterday, chatting away. There's 4 weeks between them & it was really sweet. The 1st time they've actually interacted.

I take both boys to the local surestart center for Jellybeans. Its a music/singing session. Olly stayed awake and quiet through the whole session. The 1st time. he usually either falls asleep or cries. I ended up in tears at the end tho cos we sang away in a manger then the lady who runs it handed out christmas cards & Ollys had Happy 1st Christmas on it! Pathetic but its little things like that that really make me well up. I'm taking ds1 to my Mums school Cristingle tomorrow night! I wonder what I'll be like there!

Olly 15 weeks tomorrow!!!!!

saoirse86 · 13/12/2010 19:07

watersprite I've been having similar problems with Orlaith. She usually only takes 3oz at a time but over the last few days she seems to want more because she holds on tight to the bottle but she can't seem to drink it and cries with the bottle in her mouth. Then if I take it away she cries even more. I don't get it. Xmas Confused

It's funny how everyone seems to have similar issues. At least it makes me feel like it's normally, even if it is annoying!

Orlaith 11+3 13lb 6oz!!

mellymooks · 13/12/2010 21:38

Hello everyone, thanks for all the birthday wishes for my girl, she's had a lovely day and had so many lovely pressies - we need an extension now and we haven't even had xmas yet!!

Flynn slept 5 and a half hours last night - the longest he's ever gone between feeds felt so different this morning for that!
I'm trying not to be Envy at all you guys babies who are regulary sleeping way more than that.....!

DD, Kaesha 3 years old today!!Wink
DS, Flynn 11wks+5

I still can't quite believe I have 2 children!!

Dixiebell · 14/12/2010 06:38

My stepsister had her baby last night - Evie. Apparently, she was in labour for an hour and a half?! Xmas Envy Xmas Grin

newmum001 · 14/12/2010 08:25

Good morning everyone. Dixie - so jealous of your step sisters 1.5 hour labour!! Although to be fair i was that out of it when i was in labour it didn't feel as long as it was and i honestly can't remember anything about it. Not in the way everyone always says "oh you forget about it when you have ur baby cause it's all worth it" I genuinly can't remember it. God bless you gas and air!!!

Grace had her 2nd lot of jabs yesterday and was absolutely fine, cried for not even a minute and then it was as if nothing had happened. Think i might be in for a shit day today though, she's exhausted but really fighting sleep. She's not the easiest baby to get to sleep anyway as she's so bloody nosey and EVERYTHING fascinates her so think i might have to go for many walks with her in the pram today!!

Also finally got prescribed some eye drops for her weepy eyes off the nurse yesterday who asked "oh do you think she might have a blocked tear duct" and then didn't even look at her and prescribed something that is no longer made so gotta go back to the doctors today Grrrr!!!!

Grace 13 weeks (3 months exactly today)

sassy34264 · 14/12/2010 10:55

newmum How did your DP get on when he had Grace for the saturday? You never said.

saoirse86 · 14/12/2010 11:20

So Orlaith woke up every hour to hour and a half from mindnight, and the only thing that would settle her was milk. She finished her last feed at 6.40, woke up at 8 and then didn't want feeding again till 10.40, but has now only had 2oz Xmas Shock ! Why couldn't she go for 4 hours in the night and let mummy sleep?! Xmas Sad

Dixie I am so jealous of her labour. I've done the maths and mine was 45 times longer than that! Not fair! I definitely think I deserve an hour long labour next time to make up for it. Is this her first baby? Because you hear that subsequent births are quicker. That would mean she'd just be walking along, feel a little pain, look down and find a baby! Xmas Grin

Debs75 · 14/12/2010 11:42

Finally put up Lucy's cot today. There is officially no room in our bedroom now. am hoping she will like it as she has slept with us for the last few nights. I think she is going to be a light sleeper like dc1 was as every time I move her she wakes. It doesn't bode well as by time dc1 was 6 months old me and her dad were sleeping on the settees downstairs. Every time we went in our room she woke up. It was in incentive to get her room ready, pity we can't do that for Lucy.

Newmum, dc3 had a blocked tear duct for almost a year, nothing sorted it we just had to bathe it several times a day until it stopped weeping.

4 months todayXmas Smile

newmum001 · 14/12/2010 12:04

Debs i think that must be what it is although like i said she didn't even look!! Gotta go and pick up the drops later if they've managed to get the prescription done. I feel really sorry for her, sometimes she wakes up and one of her eyes has stuck shut and she screams until we've managed to get it open. DP's auntie said to use warm milk to bathe it?? Has anyone else heard of doing this?

Grace is also a very light sleeper, i know the SIDS guidlines say not to put them in their own room till 6 months but we're seriously considering it after xmas, can't do it yet as her cot is currently housing all the christmas presents and a vast array of other shit we have no room for but we desturb her and she in turn desturbes us with all her grunting and stretching etc.

Sassy - he put me to shame when he had her on that saturday, the house was imaculate when i got home. He'd even managed to clear out the under stairs cupboard which must have taken ages!! His mum came round for a bit to see Grace but basically he single handedly looked after her and blitzed the house! I was very impressed but slightly pissed off as i can never seem to manage to do the same Grin

To be honest though i am finding it a bit easier to get things done now she's a bit older and happier to spend 10 minutes in her chair while i sort a wash out etc and also following advice not to run to her the second she makes a noise (not even a cry just any noise at all) which i was doing before!

newmum001 · 14/12/2010 12:17

Ooooh forgot to say, we're having a night out tomorrow. Going seeing John Bishop and cannot wait. DP's mum is having Grace over night and we're both a bit aprehensive about it but soooo lucking forward to having a night out!! Anyone else got any nights out planned??

Debs75 · 14/12/2010 12:19

Yes warm milk is really soothing. I used breastmilk on dc3 as you can just express it onto her eye so no chance of cross infection. If you bottle feed then just drip some ou. You can use cotton wool to wipe it but you risk infections.

Dixiebell · 14/12/2010 12:53

Saoirse, it's her second baby. First, a boy, will be 2 on Xmas eve. If she has a third, though, she'll have to make sure she carries a bag or something round with her to catch it in when it drops!!! My labour was about 30 hours so I am v Envy. Also weird that Arlo no longer the youngest baby in the family!

cinnamongreyhound · 14/12/2010 14:06

It's upto you newmum001 but both of mine went straight into their own rooms. As long as you keep an eye in the temp in there and you make sure they are foot to foot in the cot, I don't see the difference (doesn't mean there isn't I just don't understand it). Also ds1 had a blocked tear duct, was referred to specialist but GP told me to massage underneath it a couple of times a day and it cleared with that alone. If GP gave you drops it sounds more like it's conjunctivitis.

My neighbour was leaving for the hospital as we left for work with her second after having a couple of contractions. She had her before we got to work and that was with stopping from pushing when she wanted to as she was only half way there Xmas Shock. She did have some tearing though which she puts down to the fast delivery so maybe not so great!

watersprite · 14/12/2010 14:27

saoirse86 I know it's really frustrating, she really wants all her feed but just can't seem to drink it all without screaming.

Maria-Ann was weighed yesterday 11 lbs 10oz she seems to be slowing down with putting on the weight but I think it's because she is only having between 4-5oz. The health visitor seems happy with her weight.

She had her last feed at 10.30pm and went to sleep at 11 but woke up at 2am and 4.30am for feeds, totally shattered today. Not looking foward to her second lot of injections tomorrow :( O/H is taking her, having workmen in between 8am-4 to put instalation in my loft.

12 weeks today :)

JodeyLea · 14/12/2010 16:54

Hello all.

Saoirse you must be exhausted. I'm so lucky that Harlyn has always slept well through the night though I've had it rough during the day with his colic and reflux prior to changing his milk. He has been so much better on Cow & Gate Comfort. He still gets the ocaasional gripes but its nothing like it was and he now spends more time smiling and exploring his surroundings.

newmum Halryn is sleeping in his cot in his own room (3 nights now), as he has completely outgrown his moses basket and actually went from 11:30 till 7:10 last night. Its the first time I've had a solid block of sleep without waking up to his trumping and grizzly noises. He didn't stir at all. Also the last two days he has slept well in the day too which is fab! Yesterday i managed to clean the kitchen, living room and half the bathroom during his lunch time nap! I was shattered after. Confused.

Going to the gym tonight to do a zumba class. I am feeling quite low about not fitting into any of my old clothes and having to purchase a new wardrobe in the next size up so that I don't feel like a scruff over crimbo! Gutted! I know its going to take time to lose the weight but can't help feeling a little down about it! Especially when my DH thinks that our sex life should just spring back to normal. He doesn't seem to understand that I don't feel in the least bit sexy or 'in the mood'.

As for nights out, I'm out next Wednesday with the girls. I'm not worried about leaving the bab and DH looks after him when I'm gigging anyway so he's used to it now. It was actually him who got Harlyn to sleep in his cot (rather than our bed) as i kept putting it off. I just got back from a gig to find him in there! I was totally shocked but have had three good nights sleep since. Though I can't use him as a wall between us anymore Wink.

10 weeks + 4

Chelle1986 · 14/12/2010 17:44

watersprite - Olly is the same sometimes. Takes a few ounces then gets really pissy (like he is in pain) - pretty sure its a sore tummy as have increased the teat size to a 3 and this seems to make no difference. Xmas Confused He is generally taking 7oz each feed also with the exception of when he gets to ratty to finish it and we give up like you!

Bad night last night - went down at 8:30 then woke at midnight. DP fed - took the full 7. Then would he go back to bed? Would he hell as like?! Xmas Angry Then was up til roughly 3am and then back up at 6:15.... Haven't had a night like that with him since he was about 2 weeks old. He's been a bit under the weather all day today to be honest - not really sure whats up with him...

newmum - we are out at DP's football team's xmas night out on Friday - mum will be having Olly for the second time overnight so not worried as she's had him before. However if he continues sleeping like last night then I may not go as I dont want to inflict that on my poor mum...!

Olly - 11+2

beaditAli · 14/12/2010 18:18

Oh poor Olly chelle Maybe he's having anxiety problems about staying that cute forever! Xmas Grin ... and how come you get to go on the footie night out? No fair! Xmas Envy Men only at DHs and I don't ever have a Christmas do being self employed.
cinnamon what do you do? Party with all your minded LOs? Xmas Smile

Interesting that so, so many of you say that your los sleep much longer and better in their cots!?? DH is off for Christmas from Friday until into January so I think we'll make the transition then. Fingers crossed! He is equally too big for the crib as he is in his moses...... the BFG Xmas Smile

Jack has increased his intake to between 4 and 5 oz tho is still hungry every 2-3 hours rather than going for longer spells. Sleeping is pretty good at the mo too touching wood he was asleep by 9pm last night then up at 3am for a feed and then went til 8am! Very pleased this morning Xmas Grin

saoirse sending you and Orlaith sleep vibes for tonight! Do you think maybe she's excited about Santa? Xmas Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 14/12/2010 18:33

I do have a Christmas party with them beaditAli, when most of them are here usually, but some do miss out as I have 8 part-timers so can't have them all at the same time! I used to work at Cambridge University and we had a Christmas party in the day in the large teaching lab, which we had to buy a ticket for and I always had to drive home so never had a proper Christmas knees up. But I am going out on Friday for the committee from ds1's preschools' christmas do, which is quite exciting!

Chelle1986 · 14/12/2010 20:13

Noooooo beadit he will be cute forever and ever and ever!! hehe. And the footie "night out" is an xmas meal in a pub in town - so not really a night out so to speak. But I get to go to all the meals etc and presentation evenings and whatnot - not as exciting as it may seem! You aren't missing much!

cinnamon - I wanna come!!!! I used to love Xmas parties with my childminder when I was in primary!

Well I've just put the Ollmeister down....although am not holding my breath for a better night... Sad He is all dosed up on calpol though - he's defo not been right and has been wimpering in his sleep a little today which idicates a little bit of pain to me...? Think its prob his gums but dont want to break out the bonjella too early! I can hear him squeaking on the monitor in his sleep now....soooo cute - but please please stay asleep!!
