Welshie- thanks for the advice - will try to reduce munching and see if that helps.

thanks for asking around on the double put down too - at least I know it won't be forever the hell it is now!!

(Violin playing please) I have to do the put down in the week on my own all the t ime, plus DH goes away on top of that. He's in Japan in a couple of weeks and then Thailand in November.......am getting the MIL up for the oct time but this is a bit of a two edged sword girls IYKWIM. Anyway, I've been wondering when I would be able to bath them together and them both look at me cherub like as I read them their bed time books......

Lynny - PHEW eh?! I mean it would have been very soon.........

Lua - isn't yr db born on 22nd june too? I thought ours were the same age...?

on the cold hands front - thought that was OK if their body was OK? don't know how you can get them to keep them under the blankets...

mandymac · 30/09/2005 20:55

Evening Junies.

Have some time to catch up, as DH is DJing tonight from 10pm to 2am, so has taken himself upstairs for a nap. (I can't moan as he took dd after 7am feed this morning and I had a lie in until 9.15am - I never imagined that would constitute a lie in. .

Lynny - Glad you won't be joining the June 2006 thread! Grrrrrr at your insensitive HV, of course you are doing an amazing job! Makes you wonder why some people are in these sort of jobs when they cleary aren't a 'people person'. Glad jess's talipes has righted itself too - good news!

Welshie - hope you opted for the flics and wine and had a good time.

Lummox - ROFL at Bapguage.

Lippy - Good plan on the diamond, like adding interest for late settlement of a bill! I like your thinking lady .

Trib - Hope you got some kip. I've started sneaking into the spareroom/nursery and leaving dd and dh in our room after her 4am feed, as both of them make sooooo much noise, which they both seem able to sleep through, but I can't! Is this an option for you?

Lua - sorry if this has already been suggested, but could ds be overtired, as this is pretty much the only thing that makes dd cry inconsolably. We had to resort to just putting her down and letting her cry for a bit. Hope tonight is better for you.

Lua, Lummox and RHM - at your sleep probs. Really hope it gets easier soon. Its so hard to get through the days when you are so tired from the nights.

Uki - Ohhh I would have been so cross at being woken with baby. Re: S.E.X. Why not go to the docs if things are still painful. I had internal and external stiches and it does feel different down there and is uncomfortable when we start, but seems to settle down once we get into it iykwim . I have to grit my teeth a bit for the first few mins, but worth perservering. Don't know if thats any help at all.

EYM - hope you have a lovely weekend.

Right I'm off to wake up dh and send him out to earn more money to keep me in chocolate, cakes and wine .

Hope we all have good weekends!

mrsflowerpot · 30/09/2005 21:05

Evening all

Lynny - phew! hope you're enjoying a glass of something tonight. Your HV sounds v silly - I don't think they get the concept that not every baby can be bang on the 50th line.

RHM and Lua, I'm another one with a double bedtime headache - dh makes it home once or twice a week but otherwise dd just has to wail while I'm doing ds's story. I do bath them together now which is making it a bit easier.

MrsW - must be so sad to hear your ds say that. They do go through a stage where they are trying to work it all out I think - we spent a week with my mum a while ago when ds kept asking her if she was old enough to die yet . It's hard for them to grasp, but it must be hard to hear.

Welshie, hope you went for the cinema, am hoping to get to Pride and Prejudice myself next week, although how can anyone live up to Colin Firth really?

Gosh can't believe we are getting near the solids stage already - will be a while for dd as she's only just 3 months. With ds the magic number was 16 weeks, but looking back he really wasn't ready - we have fabulous photos of him being very unimpressed by baby rice.

Have just invested in a grobag for dd - never used one with ds so I am disproportionately excited by it. She's been grumbly in the middle of the night and cold as ice, so I'm hoping that will sort it out.

Hope you all have lovely weekends. DH is cooking (and singing v tunelessly) so I am about to have my dinner put in front of me.

bubbaloo · 30/09/2005 21:09

Great news,Lynny-I'm really pleased for you! Glad Jess's Talipes have righted themselves-at least she won't have to wear the boots.Ds actually managed to kick one off yesterday, even though it was buckled and laced up.
How annoying having to wait 13 weeks for the op!

MrsWednesday · 30/09/2005 22:07

Phew Lynny, what a relief!

Thanks for all your advice, I think the ignoring trick is the way to go. Showing him I was bothered by it just seemed to make it worse. DS1 has been a lot better today - he slept in until 8.30 which made all the difference (DS2 was up at 6.30 though so no lie-in for me this morning).

It's so true, what constitutes a lie-in these days was an early start in pre-baby days. If I sleep in until 8.30 I'm happy at the moment.

Double bed time is a nightmare, I agree. I usually bath DS1 first, get him in his pyjamas and let him watch telly whilst I bath and feed DS2. Then when I've finished with him I take DS1 upstairs to read stories (if he hasn't fallen asleep on the settee). Sometimes works but most of the time I end up with DS1 demonstrating his somersaults on the bed whilst I'm breastfeeding (DS2 has been kicked in the head a few times...which I don't think is included in the Contented Little Baby routine).

Good to see you again MrsF - big cheers for you getting settled and even bigger ones for getting broadband

Uki, great to see you too! It might be worth going back to the doctors just to check everything is healing ok.

Lynny, your bloody health visitor sounds useless, your DH is right to say you shouldn't go again.

Trib, the only size problem was the size of the diamond

Really hope all those with sleep problems get a good night's kip tonight. Wish I had some useful advice but the only thing I could suggest would be to move the baby into their own room (if you haven't already). It did make a bit of a difference with DS2 as I think we were keeping each other awake at times.

Off to watch a bit of telly before bed time. Hope all the Junie babies sleep well, us mummies deserve a rest.x

Cooperoo · 01/10/2005 05:53

Hi all
Really quick post to say I am off on holiday for a week today. Hooray!! Very excited although haven't packed yet so have to crack on. DH wants to know where it is written down that he has to buy diamonds because I had his babies . I am tempted to tell him on here!! He thought his mate was joking when he was told that he was supposed to spend a months salary on my engagement ring . He did come round to that idea when lots of other people agreed at least and in fact the ring I liked was cheaper anyway...
Well dd was up every two hours again last night . I will be taking tips from you all when I get back after this hol. She ended up in with me last night. I think she is getting cold as temp has dropped at nights here. Will have to start putting grobag on her when we go to bed I think.
DH is away for three weeks at the end of Oct/beg of Nov. I am dreading it.
Love to all, must dash. xx

Morning Lynny - and thank goodness (that's me projecting )
If your day doesn't start with a massage hope it ends with one (don't forget the contraception)
Coop - have a tip top holiday
Mrs FW - lovely to have you back on board - we love grobags in this house - I'd like one myself but can't face hopping to do the 1am feed.....
RHM - that's alot of time for a dh/dp to be away I agree with you on the cold hands, ds' hands are always freezing but his little body is toasty - think this is ok.
Hub2dee - your missus was right, no hunky Darcy and, let's be clear, that was the whole point of going. Overall I thought it wasn't very good (enjoyed Goal! much much more)lost alot of the subtlety and I got sidetracked by Kiera's strange teeth and flat chest. Then I remembered that the Austen family sent their babies off to be raised by wet nurses until they could walk and talk - then they came back home...started thinking that this sounded quite attractive as an idea....So ladies if you're after a bit of hunky male action choose Goal! or get P & P on DVD.
Lua - you are right, no old bap guages needed here. I am not a granny - I may feel and look like one occasionally but I can still spend money in Top Shop like a good 'un....
Lippy - I wish I was young in a few other places
Have good days all x

teabelly · 01/10/2005 09:53

Lynny - good news, phew

Uki / Mrs F Welcome back

Catch up later, hope you all have good weekends x

Hi everyone

Nice sunny day here, but definitely cold At least I have bought dd1's winter coat and shoes in readiness, We went to a wildlife park this morning which was great fun (if a far cry from kid free weekends!) Dd1 seems to be changing right before my eyes, anyone else feel this with their bigger ones?? Today we were lookin at a Meercat and she said "Look at this one daddy, member?.. member??" She'd obviously had a memory from the last visit

RHM - I often have to put the 2 down for bedtime, my routine is similar to yours and Mrs W - and others I suspect. Around 5pm dd1 gets to watch Pingu while I bath dd2, which takes around 15 mins. Then I make dd2's dinner (she's still watching tv). While dd1 eats I sit down with a drink and feed dd2. Then we all go upstairs at 630 and dd1 has a bath and I may carry on feeding or let dd2 play on mat or in chair. After bathies, we all sit in dd1's room and play quietly, read, listen to tapes etc etc. If I'm lucky dp may be home anytime from 7 and I can go and settle dd2 while he plays with dd1. It's ok, but it definitely involves major juggling.

I don't think cold hands means they are really cold, if their core is warm they should be fine. But I guess it does mean their body has had to take away from their peripheral bits so they could be verging on cold.... Both my dd's are in 2.5 tog grobags already.

Where are you off to Coop?

I had forgotten about the engagement ring being roughly one months salary guide... poor dp, the price just keeps going up and up !!! No wonder he is hesitant about getting married, I'm a mercenary old tart

I think tonight I am going to watch the last few episodes of SATC. I missed them coz we were on holiday and haven't caught up and don't know how it ends!!!

lummox · 01/10/2005 18:45

OK, so the summary for w/e 1st October 2005 (hmm, maybe am starting to miss work a little).

THE DOWNS:

  • still not much sleep happening (although we got one four hour stretch last night - can hardly bear to type it as worried about jinx)
  • teeth are really upsetting ds. getting through masses of French bonjela equivalent

THE UPS:

  • French bonjela-equivalent tastes delicious. dh and I fighting to give it to the baby.
  • ds's Raspberry blowing going from strength to strengh
  • Stove nearly put in (we have only had to sign three legally binding documents so far, but then it hasn't been fitted yet. French bureaucracy really is splendid, although you could freeze to death whilst waiting for the right forms).
  • ds's liver OK (as far as we know)

And now for the Bridget-Jones style bit:

No. of people to mention that the baby's ears might be cold this week - 4.

Looking forward to everyone else's contributions. Hope you all having a good weekend.

tribpot · 01/10/2005 19:56

lummox, excellent summary, I've added it to my newly-created summary thread to make it easier for busy people to find amidst the other messages:

Voila

charleypops · 01/10/2005 20:43

Hi everyone - my you have been busy haven't you! Absolutely no chance of me catching up tonight or posting anything relevant. I'll try tomorrow

Hub! Hiya I've been wondering where you'd got to - like a few others of your extensive fan club so it would appear!
Arlo's eating has actually been improving - I can't believe it! And the transition into his actual cot was incredibly smooth. Those bloody curves are driving me mad!

hub2dee · 01/10/2005 21:28

cp - v. glad Arlo is starting to gobble nicely. Do hope the weight and growth pick up so you don't need to worry so much about the curves. Poor thing must've been a right moaner with GERD - I presume this is is the diagnosis ? Well, I hope he continues to feel much better and shoots up in no time at all. X

Have just been getting on with stuff, and will probably continue to spend less time on MN... it's like a big black hole, LOL, and I have so much I should be doing, LOL.

PS - Don't our Terrains ROCK ????

Take care, ya hear ?

charleypops · 01/10/2005 22:34

Hey hub - I guess it must've been, he's had more today than ever before? He's in danger of eating the amount he should soon

I admire you for spending less time on here - I think I'm going to have to cut down too.

Can't believe I've just been sucked into the Godtower thing hopefully I'm completely stuck already so I won't continue.

Yep, Terrains certainly cut the mustard!

hub2dee · 01/10/2005 22:40

Brilliant news on the quantity of milk, cp ! Bet you're v. v. reassured after quite a long battle I'd imagine.... sounds like it will last too. Brill. BTW, is Arlo likely to be on the pill only for a few months till his tummy matures etc. ?

Just decide to get on with 'stuff' and you'll soon be so busy you can just turn to MN of a quiet evening etc.... hark at me ;-)

charleypops · 01/10/2005 22:48

Yeah, it's a common complaint, a lot of babies have immature tums, should clear up altogether after weaning.

Think I'm going to have to set myself a rigid limit on the amount of time I spend on the 'net lol

Hope your little on and dw are well and behaving!

lynny... I'd concentrate on the bread making as the love making nearly got you into a spot of bother by the sounds of it.

Skirting boards are always dirty chez hub.

dw is beaving and lo is well , cp. Hey, have you and df set a date ?

bubbaloo · 01/10/2005 23:02

Lol Lynny.

katzguk · 02/10/2005 07:53

have added my summary!

went to an NCT nearly new sale but bought very little, not much there. Got another salenext week which i'm selling a load of stuff so should hoepfully make a bit of money!
