New halloween inspired thread (in honour of this time of year) to talk about our little jekyll & hydes [hgrin]

Is anyone going to be taking their little ones trick or treating this year? We'll be at MIL's for Halloween and she's already told me she has both Danny and DS1 costumes -so it appears that decision has been made for us Grin

Calico1 · 03/02/2011 20:46

Thanks Dinky - sounds like I need to get her checked out. She was saying that her head was sore (I think anyway)....but I assumed she meant teeth.

TheHouseofMirth · 03/02/2011 20:50

Calico my friend's daughter has this mini kitchen which is nice and small and very cute.

dinkystinky · 03/02/2011 20:58

Calico - best things for ear infections (Danny has had LOTS) are hot water bottle (in a cover of course) against the relevant ear and nurofen infants combined with calpol if the pain is really bad (alternate every 2 hours). As soon as the infection passes, their sleep gets back to normal.

happy birthday to all today's 2 year olds (and tomorrow's as well...)

If anyone's stuck for a birthday idea, check this out

www.elc.co.uk/My-First-Smart-Trike/128525,default,pd.html

A massive win with Stan - his face literally lights up when he sees it.

oooggs · 04/02/2011 08:58

mslucy - good idea - I have a very similar little trikes one in the cellar - must drag it out. Being the youngest of 4 has some advantages Wink

Calico1 · 04/02/2011 09:52

Thanks Dinky - we had a better night last night thanks to calpol. She seems a bit calmer today so think it is probably teething.

I have won a MN competition!!! Not the holiday sadly but an annual pass to a Nuffield health & fitness gym!! First time I have entered a comp in years. Now I have to see where the nearest one is....hoping it's not 50 miles away Grin

dinkystinky · 04/02/2011 10:40

Glad you had a better night - and congrats on winning a competition! That's a pretty good prize - hope there's a gym near to you.

Oooggs - both DS1 and DS2 have "used" (in the loosest sense) a trike - but they are definitely walkers or scooter users rather than pedallers as they sit on the trike like royalty waiting for their adult minion to push them to where they want to go. Grr. Think we're going to get a new kickplate for DS1's micromini scooter and a helmet and give it to Danny at Easter when he's a bit older and get DS1 a new scooter then.

hello all,
calico congrats on competition win.

Terrible few days here. DH away (boys weekend to Bahrain then a few days business elsewhere in KSA). Of course H chose last night to get croup. Fell asleep at 9pm (up since bloody 5am and only 1 hour nap!) then woke up around 11pm 'barking'. I knew he wasn't right but felt bad about calling emergency/on call med centre (on compound) but felt it better to call at 11.45pm than 3am. Ended up having to get DD up out of bed (she was brilliant, didn'tn complain at all) and then carried H to the far side of compound to med centre. Borderline as to whether he had to go to hospital (would have been a nightmare as no car and didn't know where insurance cards were) but thank god a spell on nebuliser worked. He is on ABs and have some of the liquid that goes in nebuliser so have done him this afternoon as bad and nurse we saw last night came round an hour ago with more for tonight.

Took decision not to tell DH when he phoned as didn't want to spoil his weekend and didn't want him driving all the way back because of that and also, he is working just over the border from Bahrain tomorrow and Sunday. No doubt he wont' be happy I didn't tell him but thought it for the best.

Just taking kids up now and have no doubt I'm in for another bad night but the nurse made an appt to see doctor at 10am tomorrow.
Fingers crossed for some sleep!

Calico1 · 04/02/2011 15:56

MOS poor you, poor DS! I think you did the right thing - not much your DH could do from Bahrain anyway. Hope you get some kip tonight.

oooggs · 04/02/2011 19:54

thinking of you MOS - sleep well all of you

dinky - dts are getting micro scooters for their birthdays next month and Luke will get one of their hand me downs again (probably the Thomas one Wink) poor little sod.

dinkystinky · 05/02/2011 06:36

Oh no MoS - really hope H recovers v quickly. Poor little man. Glad your DD was an angel though.

SilveryMoon · 05/02/2011 06:40

Morning.
mos How's H today?

Having a few people over for Luke's birthday today. So much to do, I haven't even bought the food yet!!!
The pair of gits were up at half 4 this morning, so is going to be a long, cranky day I think.

dinkystinky · 05/02/2011 13:41

Hope the party goes well SM. How did L like his birthday presents?

OP posts:
SilveryMoon · 06/02/2011 05:59

Morning.
Party was good.
Luke loved his presents. There are tiny pieces of lego EVERYWHERE, so thanks for that dinky Wink

A few of you saw on my fb that we had one of our cats put to sleep yesterday Sad
Apparently they use 5ml of whatever drug it is to send them off, Toby was gone after 1ml, so even if we'd gone for the operation to clear his bladder he probably wouldn't have come out of it.
Just glad he's not in pain now, must have been awful, he couldn't even walk yesterday.

oooggs · 06/02/2011 07:35

sorry about that SM (don't think I am a fb friend with you)

glad Luke enjoyed his presents - got to love lego!!

SilveryMoon · 06/02/2011 07:45

Are you not oooggs? Well, I'm just gonna pop off and rectify that (if you don't mind)

littlesez · 06/02/2011 09:15

Dinky, re izzy's bathroom antics, she just gets out of bed opens her door and the opens door to bathroom. Hmm there is nothing in there she can reach except she likes to find my make up and put that on Grin I don't have chemicals or anything like that in the house. I once woke up to the sound of her weeing Shock she has got her little toilet seat and climbed up there she was wiping her own bum when i got in there!

how doers everyone know when all the babies birthdays are Blush

MOS poor H hope AB's kick in soon xx

SM oh no how sad for you all I really feel for you as im a real cat person hope your ok and managed to celbrate still xxx

SummerRain · 06/02/2011 12:18

I'm so sorry SM.... it's awful when you lose a cat, they become such a part of the family. How's the other one coping without its brother? Have the boys noticed? {{{hug}}}

mos, I hope H is on the mend now poor little lad

SilveryMoon · 06/02/2011 13:59

Thanks SR
I'm not sure if the other cat has realised yet, he is in bed with dp now so not seen him today.
Jacob ased about Toby this morning, so I just repeated whatI told them yesterday, the Toby hadn't come home because he was very very sick, that the vet wasn't able to help him and he died.
Jacob seems ok about it, Luke hasn't noticed.
We were in the pet shop earlier and Jacob asked if he could get Oscar a toy. he would then normally get one for Toby too, but didn't mention him so maybe he does understand that Toby will not come back.

oooggs · 06/02/2011 14:07

I am now SM Grin

littlesez - there is a list further down - not totally up to date but the best we can do Wink will find it for you and bump it up

I really hate weekends at the moment

SM - so sorry to hear about your cat. Bit of a cat softie here - it's awful when they go. DS still asks about our cat who died last summer, but Lilian doesn't have a clue.

mumoverseas · 06/02/2011 17:40

hello all
rosie happy birthday to Milo

SM so sorry about Toby, very sad and its so hard when you have young children and you are not sure they understand

Littlesez Izzie sounds so cute and pretty well toilet trained! I made the mistake of leaving H and DD in the bedroom watching cartoons last night whilst I attempted a bath but H decided to take his (pooey) nappy off and come in and sit on the potty but not before he'd sad on the white duvet cover a few times first!

just popped in briefly whilst H snoring next to me and DH attempting to put together his motorbike ready for Tuesday (slightly worried about all the hammering going on!)

H is much much better thanks for asking. Think the ABs and the steriods he got given yesterday really helped.
DH got back around 3.30pm today which was perfect timing as H had a drs check up at 4.15pm.
Think DH a little shocked and upset about what I'd been through. Another awful night last night. H was coughing so much he was sick twice so I ended up sitting up holding him upright most of the night so pretty shattered!
He says he would have come straight back from Bahrain if he'd known (left car and got flight!) so I was right not telling him. Just so relieved he is so much better poor little man.

Managed to make a half decent looking train cake for H to take to nursery tomorrow as he isn't in on Tuesday and am getting there with party plans. DD is (hopefully!) going to help me do the party bags tomorrow pm when H is (hopefully!) having a nap.

dinkystinky · 06/02/2011 20:19

Ah SM- saw about your cat on FB. Am so sorry. I think J probably does understand and is just processing it.

Rosie - if you swing by, happy birthday to Milo for today. Hope he had a fab one.

MoS - glad your DH is home. Hope you get some sleep tonight and H continues to improve rapidly. Hope the cake turns out ok.
