New halloween inspired thread (in honour of this time of year) to talk about our little jekyll & hydes [hgrin]

Is anyone going to be taking their little ones trick or treating this year? We'll be at MIL's for Halloween and she's already told me she has both Danny and DS1 costumes -so it appears that decision has been made for us Grin

SM you've got a point but don't forget it was MOS's laptop, not his own. That would makke me cross in itself.

I am also having the second boy birthday present dilemma! Wondered about a scooter but I just got out DS1's balance bike for Mr T and I think 2 new wheeled things is overkill. So I think we're going small but keeping some money in reserve maybe for something in the summer. We're heavily into pretend play now so I think I'm going to get some stuff to go with the wooden kitchen that DS1 had - I'm thinking of a kettle and some play food. Also a Mr Potatohead and a puzzle like ths. He's really into playing with little figures and were he a first child I'd probably get him some Happyland stuff but he plays with the Playmobil people and can even change the heads on Lego minifigures so it seems pointless.

mumoverseas · 02/02/2011 16:00

hello all, thanks for your comments about 'boobgate' Grin
SM I am suprised, I'd have expected you to bash him over the head with a broom!

Am feeling very pleased with myself today. Had as nice peaceful breakfast with kids who both sat at table and ate nicely. Well, as nicely as a 4 and 2 year old can. Normally they are up and down and running around after him as he is always distracting them. I'm still livid with him and am still not sure whether it is his lying that has annoyed me more. Still don't think I can trust him anymore though which is a shame.

Found out how to work washing machine Wink and have done several loads of washing today and a lot of tidying up. Not done the hoovering though (bad for my back) but figure we can manage a few days without hoovering.

Ref birthday presents for our little (not so little) ones, I've bought H a little red motorbike, a scoot along one (very short legs) and some little bits and pieces, puzzles and some trains.

Funny you should mention Playmobil THOM, never really looked at that before but DD's friend is 4 in a few days and her mum said she wanted Playmobil so went to ToysRus today and was very impressed with the huge range. We are trying not to buy too much though as if we are coming home in the summer don't want too much here to have to bring back.

we are having a (huge) party for him next Friday. Trouble with being here it sort of escalates as with compound life you know so many people so tend to invite more than you originally planned. Am hoping to make a car or train cake so fingers crossed it works out. Times like this I wish we had a Tescos or similar to buy a ready made cake.

dinkystinky · 02/02/2011 16:27

THOM - Mr T sounds like Danny. He's ridiculously dexterous (mastered zips months ago, climbs anything going, plays with lego Mr Potato etc merrily) - am trying to figure out if we could harness his talents and put them to work for good rather than toddler mischief Wink

MoS - H sounds v lucky with a mini motorbike too. Good luck for the party on Friday - sounds like quite an occasion.

Did you mos? Lol.
I didn't think of it in the same light as SR and I think she has a very very valid point to think of.
What if your laptop fell into officials hands and it was assumed it was dp?????
But, it wasn't.
I don't know what you should do, but the bottom line is if you don't trust him, you don't trust him.
Xx

Just a quick one as kids are running around nekkid waiting for showers.... A's balance bike arrived Grin Going to set it up tonight, fun fun fun!

MarkStretch · 02/02/2011 18:50

Hello lovely ladies and Happy Birthday to the fab feb babies born this day two years ago!

Can't believe they are two and feeling a little bit sad they are growing up so fast.

I have just made Frank's birthday cake and going to ice it tonight, we have gone for a train this year. Have bought him a climbing frame for the garden, a shopping trolley and my friends have bought him play food and packets etc. Was SO thrilled when I walked past the charity shop today and found a bright red little play kitchen for £2.95! I bought it as an extra present and I know he is going to love it. The boy is obsessed with cooking, wonder why? Wink

Oh and to celebrate turning two tomorrow he had his first spell on the naughty step today... Angry

littlesez · 02/02/2011 20:21

aww all the babies are turning 2 Grin we have sleep problems again izzy is currently being ignored Blush i can't take yet another night of up and down the stairs so left her pottering about upstairs!

i might get the toddler version of no cry sleep solution, anyone read it?

littlesez · 02/02/2011 20:34

sorry i didn't even acknowledge anyone!

hey MS great to see you and hope you have a lovely day tomorrow xx

HOM im not feeling inspired for birthday presents either Confused we're moving house really soon so just don't know what to get

MOS i had to chuckle at the (.)(.) but not nice the invasion of privacy Hmm

For fucks sake she is in the bathroom, i can hear her messing back later..............

dinkystinky · 02/02/2011 21:27

Hope the little Fab Feb 2 Feb posse all had a great birthday today and happy birthday for tomorrow to Frankstretch Smile Markstretch - Danny has been a frequent visitor to the thinking step for the past 5 months Blush Not that he does much thinking on there...

Littlesez - is Izzy in a bed now? How on earth did she get into the bathroom Confused

swampster · 02/02/2011 21:32

We had a lovely day. Grin Not sure how I'm going to explain to the boys what happened to the rest of the cake while they were sleeping. Hmm

swampster · 02/02/2011 21:33

Happy Birthday everyone. Slurpy LICK for FrankStretch for tomorrow.

TheHouseofMirth · 02/02/2011 21:47

Swampster tell them that cake is full of sugar and bad stuff and that you were doing a kind thing by sacrificing your own health for theirs. It's tough being a mummy sometimes...

elkiedee · 03/02/2011 02:08

Belated happy birthday to Stanley and happy birthday to Frank - it's also Conor's birthday today (!), though we're celebrating properly in March, including an indoor picnic party (we have picnics in the park for Danny in May) and birthday cake.

Conor would just jump up from any thinking step - he's become a real Houdini.

Laughing at Swampster - you'll have to find some reason for another cake soon to make up!

mumoverseas · 03/02/2011 03:21

more birthday wishes, Frank and Conor today I think and aren't there a few on the 4th? (was that the day when there was LOTS of snow?)

MS instructions and photos ref train cake please, am starting to worry about designing mine!

Calico1 · 03/02/2011 09:23

Awww - happy birthday for all the two year olds yesterday, and Frank and Conor today.

A close friend had a baby girl yesterday morning - seeing the pics of the tiny little babe all curled up, pink and snuggly made me very broody nostalgic Grin.

No idea what to get Lilian for her birthday - but might see if I can find a mini-version of a play kitchen (no space for anything too big!). She has been an awful sleeper recently - she was up between 11 and 2.30 last night then again at 4.30. She wanted to play and then had a massive tantrum when she realised that I wasn't going to take her out of her cot. I ended up leaving her to it and listening to the sound of her hurling her toys, pillow, duvet, etc out of the cot!

dinkystinky · 03/02/2011 09:49

Happy birthday to Conor and Frankstretch - wishing them a day full of all their favourite things. Its SilveryMoon's L and Nkweto's A's birthdays tomorrow - wishing them fab birthdays too!

Calico - check L out for ear infection if its not teething. Sounds v similar to how Danny is when he's got one...

Happy birthday to those I missed yesterday and anyone today and tomorrow (I'd try and list them off but there's so many I don't want to miss anyone!) Grin

swampster..... our poor children seem to just assume leftover cake evaporates overnight as there's never any left the next day Wink

littlesez.... I've long given up on A and sleep. He just potters about downstairs until he collapses, I fought two kids on sleep and I'm just too tired to do it again Blush

calico, we have a fab play kitchen from Smoby that's very compact, we were living in a tiny flat when we got it for dd. It was cheap too and all three kids still play with it 4 years later.

I was so knackered last night after spending the best part of the day bringing dd to a hospital appointment that I completely forgot to set up the balance bike for A... better hope nothing's missing from it as it'll be too late for her to ship me out parts at this rate!

Calico1 · 03/02/2011 15:48

Dinky - that's a thought....what are the signs (apart from a foul temper)?

SR - that sounds like a good option, I'll check it out, thanks!

elkiedee · 03/02/2011 17:03

The first day when there was lots of snow in London was 2 February, because I had to go and see the consultant at hospital at 41 weeks and then went into labour while I was there, so got lots of taxis backwards and forwards. The third taxi driver was reassuring me that he had delivered 5 babies, 2 or 3 of them in the back of his cab. (Fortunately I didn't have to rely on his midwifery expertise).

elkiedee · 03/02/2011 17:15

As for birthday presents, I'm feeling terrible because I've not got to it yet and he doesn't have anything today, though dp's picked up a parcel from the Post Office this morning.

We're having a party for him in mid March.

They do have lots of toys including a fabulous toy kitchen which I was delighted to be chosen for on Freecycle, which came with a vast collection of toy food.

I'll probably get him the remaining Meg & Mog books that are available that we don't already have. I was sent one to review last year and it was a big hit, so I dug out some we'd already had and just not read much, and we've acquired a few more - now have 13 and there are about 3 more to get. They're short and simple for toddlers, have details to interest slightly older kids like my Danny, and are fun to read aloud. And every story has the characters sitting down to have a meal or two in it.

My dad gave Danny a microscooter when he was 2.5 -I think he might get C one now. If not, I probably will, as he enjoys trying out Danny's and if anything is slightly better at it. I have enough John Lewis vouchers to almost pay for it from their credit card loyalty scheme.

dinkystinky · 03/02/2011 17:23

Calico - really bad temper/short fuse, inability to sleep for long periods, possibly tugging at their ears, maybe a slight temperature and if you give them some medicine, the symptoms are alleviated for abit..

Evening all.
Luke's birthday tomorrow. I'm working but we are having a few people over on saturday. Due to a lack of time at home during the week, we won't be acknowledging his birthday tomorrow, but will save everything for saturday.
Have just bouight party bags and bits of tat to go in them Wink
Buying food tomorrow. And a cake.

oooggs · 03/02/2011 19:30

Happy birthday to those I have missed Blush

I had new baby snuggles with our new nephew (born 27.1.11) and whilst snuggling was reminicing that when Luke was this small I had twin toddlers under 2 running around - I shuddered at the thought. Due a letter any day to say that dh's op has worked Wink I AM NOT BROODY Grin
