Smile

Too much pressure and too little thread space left me with but one choice so here we are. Let's discuss further the private space because quite honestly the "private" space is not so "private" at the moment. I'm no detective BUT there's only a handful of threads over there and all are beckoning me to read through them. For the moment we are safer here. Like a new model car, we should wait and let the kinks be worked out by the folks that can't WAIT to be part of the "new thing."Smile

Good suggestions ladies for qod. Does he eat all his meals on the sofa? would a highchair/booster seat at the table make it easier and clearer that it is time to eat now not ply/watch tv etc etc.We are quite strict i think and all meals have to be eaten at the table. Only recently have i allowed fruit to be taken into the living room as snacks.

I ask ds what he wants - it is usually porridge or ready brek but the other options are weetabix or rice crispies. toasts and ruit are always available afterwards if needed/wanted. and he has started getting particular about which jam he wants onhis toast (atm dh's home made crab apple jelly is the favourite). He is only allowed to eat once he is in his highchair (dd was in the booster seat by now - long before now - but it works with him in his chair atm and he likes it) and has his bib on (my dc are both very messy eaters - dd has to have a teatowel put on her for brekkie so her uniform stays clean lol). Once finished he gets cleaned up and taken out of his chair.

for us though mornings are a bit of a rush as we are out the door at 7.45. during the summer he would take his time more and eat more, but hey.

I would not let brekker drag on. I mean, when does it become lunch if you are stil at it at 10am or beyond?

Will he feed himself toast and fruit? is it just spoon stuff he wants you to do? No idea what to suggest as ds refused to eb fed after 9months so.....

we make it clear that we are all eating so he needs to get on with it until we have finished our fod too.

oopsandbabycoconuts · 01/10/2010 15:53

QOD - DD chooses her bowl and I get her a spoon, I offer 2 choices of breakfasts porridge or shreddies, she will then ask for raisins or banana on either I sort it as she makes herself comfy on the sofa and eats it. She is only allowed to eat breaksfast at the sofa as it is where DH sits and they have a morning conversation before he goes to work, trying to get DH is sit at the table for breakfast is like trying to move a mountain so that is my only compromise of eating at the table. If she doesn't want it she waits until snack time when she gets fruit.

DD1 has been given a colin the catepillar marshmallow by her music teacher and has spent ages alking to it, now she has decided to eat it it is getting a running commentry of it's fate!

Will catch up later :0

You alright there oops, looks like you were cut off mid breath Grin

QoD As with others DD2 chooses her cereal (Special K, Rice Krispies or muesli). SHe doesn't get to choose a bowl as it is DD1's job to lay the breakfast table. Also then a choice of milk or water to drink. If she is messing around/not eating, i will ask her to eat nicely otherwise she can get down and that will be the end of breakfast. If she continues to mess around cereal goes in the bin and that is it. However I will tell her there is nothing else until lunchtime or banana after swimming if a Wednesday

I think the main thing is not to get drawn into the situation and trying everything to please. Offer choices, say clearly what you expect to happen 'eat breakfast nicely' and what will happen if he cannot do this. Then follow through. At the moment it sounds like a big game for him and a nightmare for you Sad. Just remember he will not starve from missing a few breakfasts but it might just break the cycle.

We have all been to the dentist today and a clean bill of health apart from DH who needs a filling replaced. DD2 refused to open her mouth and clamped the mirror between her teeth Grin. DD1 was very happy and surprised that it didn't hurt Hmm. Goodness knows where dental fear comes from

Good to hear you and the DDs are having fun LOTI Smile

Oh and i won the hobby horse in the raffle last night, so DD2's Xmas pressie sorted. She loves horses and DD1 has one, so pretty chuffed

oopsandbabycoconuts · 01/10/2010 16:11

Sorry - Chrrisy I was DD1 was trying to put the cat in the washign machine!

Forgot what I wanted to say not Confused

oopsandbabycoconuts · 01/10/2010 16:11

CrisPy - I get worse and worse with my spelling!

CrispyTheCrisp · 01/10/2010 17:43

Right, what would you lot like me to buy for you as a treat when i win my £82 million this evening?

I must win as return karma for my good charitable deeds last night HmmGrin

GladioliBuckets · 01/10/2010 18:12

Kurt's breakfast: at table, drink and breakfast waiting for him so he doesn't get a choice! He had learnt to use a spoon but lately is regressing to fingers, guess he thinks been-there-done-thatAngry. He's a bit of a pig so it's rare he won't eat but if he didn't, that would be tough bogies. Would pack some raisins or biccies if we were going out (which we probably would in that case rather than have him whinge all morning). Not TV til everyone's breakfasted and clothes on.

Try imagining you have a schoolrun to do.

hotterpotter · 01/10/2010 18:13

That money is mine I tell you, mine!!!!!!!!!!!

(but if you do win Crispy darling please can I have a pony?)

GladioliBuckets · 01/10/2010 18:22

Just need £100k for mortgage then DH can have dream job in paradise (ie working for John Cusack in High Fidelity) and all would be perfect in Bucketsville. 'Cept that I would keep hanging around making a tw*t of myself at John Cusack of course.

luckoftheirish · 01/10/2010 18:28

crispy please can you treat us all to a pamper day if you win?? please please pretty please GrinGrinGrin

cyteen · 01/10/2010 18:44

Mmmmm, John Cusack. How long have I been enamoured with his air of understated filth Grin

GladioliBuckets · 01/10/2010 19:12

Actually if I'm honest, I'd rather have Jack BlackBlush, I'm a sucker for funny and slightly odd. Chevy Chase and Bill Murray are two other big faves.

cyteen · 01/10/2010 19:16

Bill Murray was my first ever crush! Well, maybe second (after Han Solo). He's lasted a lot longer than Han in my affections too - you just can't beat a bit of funny.

GladioliBuckets · 01/10/2010 19:20

My fantasy is having a duvet day with one of them (perhaps in a certain Japanese hotel), just mucking about and having a laugh.

CaptainCaveman · 01/10/2010 19:41

loti dh wants to know if you would let us have a peak at your villa as we might want to rent it off you next summer hols? Have you got a link to photo(s)? Or can you email me? cheers me dear

Cyteen Han Solo, he was my first crush too! Had the hots for Indiana Jones too Grin. I used to love Eric Estrada from CHIPS Blush Grin

evening all!

CrispyTheCrisp · 01/10/2010 20:34

LOTI Of course Smile. I shall book us all in here for a few weeks days

Buckets £100k no problem. Second bit a bit more tricky. Oh and i am with you on Jack Black. Love him in The Holiday

oopsandbabycoconuts · 01/10/2010 20:44

Crispy - that is the one you link to for me aaaages ago and I couldn't remember where it was YAY Now to persuade DH that DD2 and I need a night away :).

ILs popped around and stayed for dinner, malaysian curry and coconut rice, yummy.

I have had to look up alot of these crushes names - I grew up so far in the back of beyond in the wild that I haven't heard of some of them. I know who Han Solo is but have never seen the movies. I must be the only person in the world who has never seen them!

oopsandbabycoconuts · 01/10/2010 20:45

OOh and my other news is that DD1 woke up this mornign and asked for the potty no pants at home all day and no accidents although she did wear a nappy out. :)

hotterpotter · 01/10/2010 20:50

Without clicking on the link I hope to god that spa isn't actually in Barnsley... Grin

CrispyTheCrisp · 01/10/2010 20:55

Wanted to make sure our Northern locals were catered for Wink

Hurrah for no accidents oops. We had a crap on the bedroom floor

hotterpotter · 01/10/2010 21:01

I refuse to think about potty training until Spring!

cyteen · 01/10/2010 21:58

A spa is not a spa without chips and gravy Grin

DS did his first ever wee in the potty on Wednesday night. However, it was one of about 100 wees between 6pm and 7pm and the rest were on the floor so I'm also in the 'not bothered yet' camp.

longwayfromhome · 01/10/2010 21:58

oh you are all so good about food.

QOD - DS gets a yoghurt for breakfast first thing as he loves them, it gets him sitting down at table and its now a routine. Sometimes he'll have something else as well.

He also learned how to use a spoon with yoghurt as he likes it so much

Nursery OK, not fab but OK. Nanny OK. Kids now watching TV.

TwilightSurfer · 01/10/2010 23:25

Crisps how about putting us all up in state rooms for a 24 day cruise. I would have someone drug me so I could fly to do that!

All this talk about breakfasts makes me think I'm not doing it as well as I should.Hmm It is a struggle some mornings for anything other than juice. Maybe I should change things up a bit.

Crap brb!
