I can't test! I'm too frightened... but in a good way. Grin

chefswife · 19/09/2010 22:43

Tea Can' wait to see pictures.

chefswife · 19/09/2010 22:44

Oops... forgot the 't' in can't. My heart is racing all of sudden. lol

chefswife · 19/09/2010 22:57

Oh my freakin crap, I am so bored.

chefswife · 19/09/2010 23:05

Ok, well, I tried to kill time by uploading some photos to my FB and it took me all of 5 minutes. Maybe I'll just wake DD up... its at that point in her nap where I don't want to start something else because I know she'll be up soon. Hmm. I'm sure there's a stray eyebrow lash that need's dealing with. Grin

I want to order online and send to my brother and his wife a thank you gift for this weekend, as they paid for the majority of things and refused to let me. They're in their early forties and are not short of a bob or two and I need something nice to send as a thank you. Any ideas? I want to order it this morning if possible. Trouble is I want something that isn't too costly but is a nice touch Confused

Oh Dog he sounds so gorgeous (J, not hyour PIL). Don't let his weirdness burst your bubble (PIL, not J)!!

MJ.. I so want to but.. DP would kill me at the moment if I even mentioned it. Life is pretty nice and relaxed, given we are in the process of selling our beloved flat. I thought I'd never be ready to move, but the thought of a possible number three does it every time!

Tea, have you got a nice photo from the weekend that you could get framed for them? That way they'll have a permanent thank you to look at.

Tree, hope you are feeling better. I know the feeling too, but it has a lot more to do with all night clubbing rather than working.

Checking in, thanks for asking after me. I'm fine but looking at computer screen not nice so trying to keep off t'internet, much as it pains me Grin I think you are right MissJ, it probably is stress related.

Joss sounds so wonderful Dog, you are making me broody.

Best go shower etc. while DS entertained by Peppa Pig. Am going away Weds to help DH with a big show - 5 nights without the DCs. I feel sick at the thought. They are with GPs and will be fine, I'll be a quivering wreck with the fear of the ifs and maybes but thankfully we have to work 8am-12midnight each day so the 16 hour shifts should distract me Grin Probably won't get much chance to MN between now and this time next week but will try and read to keep up.

Lenni · 20/09/2010 10:11

Oh and Chef - TEST already won't you!! I can't bear the tension!

120 · 20/09/2010 10:33

Dog at the thought of 4. Shock

I'm very proud of myslef. I found a punnet of strawberries that were a bit squidgy, and instead of binning them, I hulled and weighed them, added the same weight in sugar, a cubed peeled apple, some water and boiled it for 30 mins. Ta da.. a jar of strawberry jam. Yum.

Lenni, my eyes went really funny when I was stressed a few years back (and having regular panic attacks). I sort of had double vision at the end of every day. Something that helped a little was drawing an object as it makes you focus on something in the mid ground, then refocus on the pencil and paper. Even if only for 5 mins, it's a kind of eye exercise that gives the muscle a bit of stretching. May help or may be just one more thing...

No I only took a few photos. Robert took a lot more but I have no idea when he'll have time to put them on fb. As he works in London in the week commuting from Wiltshire. He works very hard.

They like chocolate but as I live so far from them I can't exactly post them some can I? Confused

I need to catch up on this thread, as I haven't read anything from the weekend and I'm intrigued by requests for Chef to test Wink

missjackson · 20/09/2010 11:08

tea my friend bakes amazing brownies (almost as good as 120s Wink) at www.browniepointsbakery.co.uk and sends them out; they make a lovely gift. Prices from £15-30.

Just popping in to say hello. 120 domestic goddess you!

dog I am not due till March 11th, thinking it will be more like 20th at least, that's aaaaaages away! Wow at J's sleeping, N is still up for a feed once in the night.

Oh yes, talking of which, first night in the big boy's bed, how I could I forget?!

Well, he enjoyed stories in bed, but when I turned the light out and tried to get him to lie down, he screamed and cried. So I fed him to sleep. He then slept till 4.30am, had another quick feed and slept till 7.45am. Not bad at all for a first night, and I don't care so much about the feeding to sleep at this point, I just want him to feel happy and comfortable in there, and not turn it into a nightmare battle.

OH and I loved having the bed to ourselves, and had lots of fun catching up Wink. It was strange not having to sneak off to the spare room like we usually do.

OK, now I have to go and get some breakfast from town as we are OUT of crunchy nut cornflakes, can you believe?

Dog. PMSL at the cat comment. How very strange.

Tea, I second the brownies idea - if you make them yourself, they are much cheaper! I'm making a triple batch today. Wanted to do a sponge cake too, to make the most of my very first pot of strawb jam. Am ridiculously proud of myself.

Can't believe all of you frisky parents. I guess all my energy goes into cooking. . Not sure.

What is it with my head. I've just read this page of the thread and can hardly remember a thing. I'll do my best though.

Tree, sorry you are so stressed and exhausted. Hope you manage to catch up on some rest and start to feel better soon.

Tea, glad you had a nice weekend. How about a gift-card for Hotel Chocolat? They do a £10 one and their chocs are scrummy.

Lenni, sorry you are still having vision problems. Did you not manage to get back to the GP? Perhaps an optician might be a good idea as well, they are very good at picking up potential problems. Hope you manage to enjoy at least some of your child free time - make the most of it - just think child free trips to the toilet, not one whiny voice, no tears or tantrums - bliss. I would be the same about leaving my dcs, but I bet you come back feeling better for it.

Dog, J sounds lovely - pic on profile purleeease! Ignore stoopid FIL, the man is a poor excuse for a father/grandfather and not worth a seconds thought. Very Sad for your dp, but consistently crap enough for him to have to start moving on and focussing on his own family perhaps? What a weird MW with the cat comment. Confused

MissJ, sounds like N's first night in a big boy bed went really well. Well done!

My life continues in much the same vein. Ds1 is really weak, has lost a tonne of weight and is quite breathless. Poor thing is really struggling with his reflux even more than usual now that his stomach is empty, but can't seem to even manage half a slice of toast.

Another awful night with dd, whimpering and wriggling round her cot, then waking and sobbing. To cap it all she has woken up with a cold, snotty nose, watery eyes and sore throat and has had the worst upset stomach (would've been a dunk in the bath job if she hadn't got her arm in plaster Hmm).

Spoke to the fracture clinic first thing. They asked to consultant and he said she will have to be xrayed, reassessed then recast. They booked her in for the first available emergency appointment, which is 10.45 tomorrow morning.

Just had a message from my younger sister, who lives in London. She had an accident on the way to work and is currently in A&E where they think she has sustained exactly the same injury to her foot/ankle as I did! Unbelievable.

I have the heating on this morning, only up to 16 degrees though. Just couldn't get warm despite running around doing housework and looking after 2 sick dcs.

moosemama · 20/09/2010 12:29

Sorry Tea, forgot to link to Hotel Chocolat here.

missjackson · 20/09/2010 12:31

Thanks for that books, will give it a whirl.

Lol at all the neighbourhood cats coming round for a party.... But more Shock at 'risking it this early' - omg, how can you even contemplate that after giving birth just 10 days ago! Wow, I take my hat off to you dog! I think it was 2-3 months for us although I did take pity and help out on a couple of occasions Grin. OK ladies, while we're on the subject (nice Monday morning topic), is my DH the only man nearly 40 who still has..... ...... wet dreams? Actually and literally. Only when we've been apart for a few days as he doesn't take care of it himself, iyswim.... Grin sorry if waaaaay too much TMI.

Friend coming round for lunch so must attempt to clear the table of accumulated crap.
