Morning all. Tink a fellow shopping pal Wink. I'm crap at shopping and just buy DD bundles from ebay. Actually Tink, how old is your DD? We could do some deals! I'm just as crap for myself. Used to buy all my clothes from the Kings road for respectability with the odd funky thing from Spitalfields or Berlin when I went to visit my brother. Since having kids it's been bulk buys from Gap, Zara and H&M/TopShop maternity. Must do better (once I've got the new house).

Moose, what an awful night! Poor DD, sprains and strains are very painful, especially when you catch them wrong. At least when you have a cast everyone knows you are in pain and gives you sympathy! Can't decide whether to make piccalilli today as don't want the house smelling of boiled cauliflower and vinegar. Then again I could leave the jars out and it would look nice and homey? Sod it, need to get it done anyway. Lovely and sunny today. Am feeling great as both kids have slept through until at least 5.30 for the last two nights.

H is doing really well. He has been in the bottom bunk (ikea kura so it's directly om the floor) for two months now. I arrange pillows round the top in an upside down U shape, and fold the duvet along the forth side, so it is cot shaped, and whichever way he spins himself he always has a pillow. Seems to work for him! Hasn't made any difference to his sleeping other than I can now switch the monitor off, so I sleep better, and if there is a problem, he comes and wakes me. We leave their door slightly open so he can get out.

Too much coffee this morning - am blathering!

HZ - are we still on for tomorrow arvo?

Morning

Rough night with dd. Poor little thing just couldn't get comfortable despite having calpol. Lots of waking, whimpering and wriggling around trying to get into a good position.

She was really clingy and tearful first thing, but was using her arm, except for hauling herself up onto the sofa - which is when she really cried. Sad

She seems to have perked up now though and is using her hand arm to play normally. The only thing is that just occasionally she stops, lets out a cry and says 'hand' in a pained voice, but then goes back to using it again. Confused

Am going to keep a close eye this morning and if she carries on having little cries about it or doesn't seem to be using it properly I will take her to get it checked again.

Am supposed to be off out with Mum today, but am so knackered I'm not sure I'm up to it. That said, I haven't left the house other than for school runs and doctors appointments for ages.

Lenni · 15/09/2010 10:52

DS also in a Kura bed, except we have it the other way up so he's not got a top bunk yet! Has a (pink!) bedguard along the top of the edge and no falling out so far. Been in there quite a while now so think he's settled and so scrummy to see him shuffle under his duvet at night. Hmm, maybe I should turn DD's monitor off. It is a long way from her room to ours though, she's as far as she can be and because of odd old house design all our rooms are in a row with long coridor and steps between. I also kind of like that she has never ever got out of bed. She is nearly 4 yo though!

Lenni · 15/09/2010 10:53

Poor DD Moose, hope she perks up.

hackneyzoo · 15/09/2010 11:20

Moose, hope DD feels better, and you manage to get some rest. Was wandering where you were last night.

120, defo up for tomorrow. J has GOSH at 12 so we should be back, fingers crossed, by 2.30 (if we don't have to wait for ages) so any time after 3 is good.... I will attempt to make tea for them all!

Am about to put DS in a proper bed, DD has a bunk and she likes the tyop, so he can go on the bottom and then that frees up another bedroom for storing junk the new arrival eventually.

Lenni, am not a fan of the AIBU threads, they make entertaining reading sometimes, but are generally completely judegy and show the worst side of MN... mind you I am far too scared to post on them!

MissJ Hooray for trofast! Hope you aren't drowning under flat packs.

I seem to be going through a week of internet addiction...something to do with work avoidance. Am hiding in the office as its break time and I just need five mins peace and a biscuit would be nice too!

hackneyzoo · 15/09/2010 11:22

I apologise for appalling spelling and typing... need more sleep.

OMG DOG that was quick! You are very welcome Smile. Even though you have made me very broody for a #3 eventually!

MJ,meant to mention trofast. So good! I use them for clothes rather than toys (hate real chests of drawers for some random reason). Maybe that should go on the crazy thread I was agreeing with reading last night.

HZ are you taking them both into town? Was vaguely thinking about taking my two to the science museum as DD keeps asking us why she can't see the wind and I thought they may be able to answer it for her. I have no idea what to say and DP said it's because the bits are so small, which made me grin. Probably better for another day though. DP is around so may be able to coerce ask him to join us if you are up for it.

Dog, hope your boobs are ok and you are enjoying all those lovely nb cuddles and aren't too knackered.

120, DD is at pre-school tomorrow so have to be back at 3ish to get her and think I am planning to spend the morning.....in bed. So think I am going to try and get it done asap and just jump on the bus, do appt, and jump back again! Good question by the way....maybe Pat or lenni can answer it.

120 · 15/09/2010 12:26

ok, will take them to get shoes and then come and meet you at home then! Let me know what you want me to bring.

120 · 15/09/2010 12:28

ow. the thought of rock solid boobs. Don't miss that one much. Having said that, I had a really weird feeling of my milk coming in last night (sorry tmi) so am wondering if that has anything to do with meeting a 5 week old during the day

OP posts:
missjackson · 15/09/2010 12:44

Morning all. Crappy night sleep (me, not N, for a change), then got stung by a dead wasp that someone had left in a tea towel after killing it (thanks), and then spent the morning writing out a long invoice for one of our agents... so you see my life is not all jaffa cakes in bed Grin.

My close friend up the road who is 3 weeks more pg than me just found out the gender of her baby and won't tell me! AIBU to be slightly pissed off? Not really, of course it's her secret to keep, but it does seem a bit excessive. Maybe I should post on AIBU threads. Ha! No way. I sometimes get sucked into reading them and write replies but then manage to stop myself posting them. What a big fat waste of time they mostly are. Some are really funny though.

Cowboys here - I've always loved this print although generally I try not to go too far down the CK route! JL do a pretty good impersonation of the print but I love the reversible spots on this one.

ray bump is growing, much faster than the first time around, and it's a girl bump this time!

Must get on with the ikea construction! Luckily my Dad is here for assistance!

treedelivery · 15/09/2010 12:47

Oooh Dog, lovely to hear all is well. ALthough all my hormonal surges came to a schreeching halt at the thought of rock hard boobs.

Moose - poor poor dd. It breaks your heart when they are struggling about doesn't it. So glad you haven't a cast to deal with, thats great. Try brufen for the pain? With it being inflamation and a sprain. Might arnica help, it's a sort of bruising isn 't it?
Hav you had the leaflets and stuff from school? Hope you didn't miss much.

Lenni, you are inspiring me to get dd2 out of our room, out a cot, and into the bottom bunk. What I really need to do is all the ironing. 2 weeks worth. And it needs doing by Friday as I start nights. Gah.

Trofast is indeed the answer.

Odd day. DD was zonked today. She has had a busy week, and a really tiring playdate last night. SHe looked so pale, happy, but tearful and exhausted. I couldn't wake her up, so let her sleep. SHe slept from 7.15pm to 10.30am!! Shock Gone off to school really lively and chirpy. Bless.

Got her Belle&Boo parcel - it's her birthday card [a print I know she likes] and I treated my self to the tape and also to a little Boo wall sticker to put on the landing wall. I also got myself a badge for my jacket - a whole £2 on me! Grin

DH car bit has arrived, so hopefully we can get car fixed nad he can stop car sharing. If he could keep going he would save £100 in fuel a month. But he is home an hour later at 6.45. So he is out 6.45 to 6.45 and it's tough going.

Just my new phone to arrive now - I let Virgin choose as I was so grumpy I couldn't bare the thought of trying to choose one. Hmm

HKZ, did you know you can get wallpaper to match that duvet, and all sorts of lampshades etc on ebay. Grin

120 · 15/09/2010 13:16

You lot are terrible with your spending and keep tempting me.

MJ, sorry to hear about the wasp. Had no idea they could sting when dead. Really don't like them, but felt guilty for two days when I squashed on recently. Felt like I ought to be doing some kind of atonement (maybe I've taken the buddhist thing too far). Still feeling chilled, though prob more to do with the sleep.

Have decided I definitely don't want to be fat anymore so am giving up butter and mayo (so won't be having the cheeky cheese and biscuits, egg mayo and baguette and butter that I'm fond of). Am giving up cake and biscuits (that I haven't made myself) too. Need to do some more exercise too, but spin bike still in storage. May bring it back as I had lost 3kg when I was doing it 3 times a week.

Tree, meant to Shock at your DD1's sleep. I love it when they are chirpy in the morning. Makes you realise that a hell of a lot really is sleep related and the best gift we can give them is learning to sleep well.

Right. Off to paint butterflies! Am very excited as it is a gift for DD for being good and not waking Mummy up in the night.

It is farking pissing it down on my washing and nappies. Arse arse. No boiler yet, so cant dry on radiators. Arse arse.

Still no ironing, but H still asleep on my chest.

Belle&Boo package is here. Nearly wet myself. I really think you should all get their new little book. It's just pleasing

I can loose 1.5kg really easily, and 3 fairly easily. But thats because I need to loose about 12-15 kg Shock and it's a drop in the ocean.
Am sat in bed eating dairy milk bar of plenty fruit and shortcake. It's damm good. Hmm

Enjoy butterfly painting Smile

120 · 15/09/2010 13:49

still pissing about choosing a butterfly. I'm useless!

Your cleaner could iron for you too Wink

Yep, I'm in the same boat with the weight, but want to lose slowly and invisibly as I stretchmark easily to don't want to be fluctuating. If I can be down by 5kg by Christmas, I'd be happy enough. We shall see. I'm still very impressed with Pat's strength of will. I'm going to reduce wine consumption too. That should really help as I think it's about a fifth of my daily calories!

Tree How i've missed your posts.... i LOVE the way you post just as your thinking, Always make me have a little Chuckle. With you, not at you of course. :D How are your beautiful red heads doing? Love seeing piccies on FB from time to time.

Missj Wonderful news you are having a little one of the PINK variety. Really hoping when we try again in the Autumn that we have a boy, not sure if we will have a third, or perhaps more, but if we have one of each, then i guess we can relax & know we have a Son & a daughter. Bliss. Although Dog's two of Each does sound Lovely!

Both wiped out from swimming, Esme fast asleep.

treedelivery · 15/09/2010 13:59

Yes, Pat kicked ass, and not a fat ass either.

No way you need to loose 15kg mrs!

H still asleep.

spent this morning thinking about a cleaner. if I did an extra night shift each month O could pay for dh's access course monthly dd, and get maybe 4 hrs cleaning a month.
That would be a monthly hoover, bathroom scrub, floor mop
Hmmm. I don't want to wrok anymore though, it seems crazy to stay up all nght working. Why not stay up all night cleaning? Confused

120 · 15/09/2010 14:08

tis difficult. ours is £8ph and is a friend so I like to help her out too, so it's a kind of two way thing, and makes me feel a bit better about being lazy. I don't hate cleaning, I'm just a bit OCD so if I do it,and have spent time doing it, I get very cross if someone else is messy. Handing the whole thing over to someone else helps me relax a bit. Somehow I can handle it better if she has missed a bit, I just sort it out. I suppose others are the other way round and would feel cheated if their house wasn't perfectly cleaned the way they would do it. I've got so much more chilled since having babies in terms of the housework and appearance. I actually find it quite liberating! I feel I've more important things to do and rather than sweat the small stuff, I can enjoy it (a bit)!

I'm a mucky pup. Blush

An hour would make a massive impact on this house. It might kill off the dust bunnies. In our old little house I was very good and kept it spotless.
In this place I feel completely out of my depth, and sort of give up. Like when you are on a diet and have a biscuit, you feel it's all spolt anyway so go ahead and have a pizza HmmGrin

f I did 30 mins a day it would be a lovely house to hang out in but when would I mumsnet

treedelivery · 15/09/2010 14:18

Sorry missed your posts Ray Smile Exciting news you are trying agan. Love seeing your pics too, she really really looks like her daddy, no?

120 · 15/09/2010 14:31

Me too Ray, sorry, it was off the screen and just assumed tree had continued the convo! I love that heavy limbed feeling after swimming.

If I'm honest tree, I think I've been pretty depressed and I really let the house go. There were piles of stuff everywhere and even the cleaner wasn't managing to make a huge impact as she spent so much time moving stuff. I slipped into it really easily because I went straight from demand led baby to demand led toddler and therefore allowed DD to rule us. That together with a small baby, work and sleepless nights was a killer. I just sort of felt monged and didn't know where to start so ignored it.

Having to get the flat on the market, putting all our stuff away in storage, and having to keep it clean for viewers is a pain in the bum, but actually the best thing for me. It means I do 10 mins cleaning a day and the place stays pretty spotless, and I finally feel I can keep on top of it. The cleaner does the floors/hoovering/dusting once a week, so everything gets a proper once over. I also fell a lot better as the place looks and feels more airy. Pride has returned to how it looks and I now feel in a position to sort myself out too. It is a very slow process, and I have learnt a lot.
