Blush I'm a slattern, my place is a tip! Just can't be arsed to do it thoroughly on the weekend, I feel cheated of my days off otherwise. Will have no excuse when I'm on maternity leave. DH does the floors and hoovering, but the dog and DCs seem to keep everything permanetly messy anyway, so I am resigned to it.
Smile

120 Your house is the most tidy house I know...am already starting to Blush about the state its when when you guys come over tomorrow. It will be very dusty....shabby chic...

Tink I know - that's why I said fellow shopping fiend. I would be crap!

Dog lovely that you feel complete now. Sounds like he is fitting in well. Have you tried the mumsnet name generator - when I did it it was very close to my actual list . Other names I liked were Theo and Stanley.

Books, glad you are beginning to feel better. I don't think you can actually see it until it lifts.

Rrrrayray · 15/09/2010 19:01

Dog Can quite understand you feeling complete, you have a lovely family now! Well done you! :)

Tree think i might have confused you with my baby talk. Dh and i are Not yet trying for another baby planning to in the Autumn, want this summer with Esme and no wedding to enjoy Dh's off Season and get a holiday with Esme.

books Sorry your feeling a bit low. Some child free time may well help. Esme goes To Nursey Tuesday and Thursday mornings for 3 hours. She absolutely adores it & i get a chance to have some time to myself, usually cleaning the house, but still, time for my own thoughts without a little person butting in. :D

Tink No FB Request at my end. Try again. Thought we were friends on there anyway????

DH has away match this evening, so once Esme in bed shortly, got to crack on with work.

In the time i have been off Mumsnet, a friend and i have decided to dabble in a bit of business together. Esme's hair, particuarly her fringe is long, and i don't want to cut it, as i want her to have long hair, so i have always pinned it off her face with various hairclips. Found it hard to find cute ones, and the ones i did were pricey for what they are. So Ta-da an idea is born. I have been making them for the past few months....

We are just selling them on Ebay right now, Considering doing an actual Ebay shop, but thats £14.99 a month which i feel is rather steep, so may ask friend who website designer to do something for us.

Will post link on here later for any of you who want to have a nosey, i personally think are V. Cute and very reasonable. Feedback to date been great. Friend is making kitten and puppy collars.

Got to get Esme in bath.

Enjoying being back on MN xx

yes do ray! I have a webshop and also use ebay (but not as a shop), but the fees are extortionate!

Hello ladies and Ray (I'm fairly new an -imposter-- to the thread)

I've really struggled to keep my place neat and tidy since I moved back here last November Blush Always something better to do than clean Blush I think I have felt low at times as well with everything.

Oo DOG I can't wait to read your birth story, really loving seeing your fb status updates and posts on here, makes me feel all happy and smiley. Yay for babies Smile

Miss J - I love that duvet as well, very cute. My little man is still in his cot, but he is sharing with his big sister. The bottom bunk is ready for him but he seems so happy in his cot I haven't moved him yet.

Lovely that your DD likes the childminder Books Smile

How's DD's arm tonight Moose? Sad

I'm going camping this weekend in Swanage with my older brother and his wife and 4 kids as they're all a lot older I'm hoping that things won't be too bad and they'll play lots with mine. Whilst I sit and drink wine chat with my brother and SIL Grin Wish me luck as I'm worried the trip down in the car and sleeping will be hideous. DS is a creature of habit and loves his own room and cot and I suspect he'll sleep badly whilst away in the tent with the light and noise Hmm

teaandcakeplease · 15/09/2010 20:07

Hmmm the strike through didn't work properely. Try again an imposter

Grin

Need to go and study really.

Lenni · 15/09/2010 20:11

Do post the link for hairclips Ray, I am an addict for putting in DD's hair. Have you ever come across Gymboree? Are in the US, but do fab clothes and amazing hairclips, might give you some inspiration.

Books - DS has a dummy, he tucks his under his pillow in his bed and leaves it there I assume unless he needs it in the night. He doesn't ever lose it really as bed is against the wall so nowhere for it to go. He lost it far more in his cot. I will throw them out before Christmas anyway, as soon as his language is good enough for me to explain that they've gone to another baby Grin Wink DD's went around November time so not long now

Tree - My ultimate ambition in life is to have a cleaner. If I can afford to not clean myself I'll feel like I've made it.

Dog - You sound totally contented. I am jealous. I don't feel complete baby wise, but I do feel like I could make myself feel complete with 2 if I needed to iyswim. Sometimes I think a 3rd would be a great idea, other times I just feel like the world is made for families of 4 more than it is families of 5, 6 is a better number in many respects than 5. My main issue though is GPs, they are ageing, they wouldn't cope with 3, we would lose that back up and I'm not sure we wouldn't come to regret it. They are so fab and do so much for us, and with DH being self-employed we really need them. I couldn't go back to work without them, there would be no one to pick up from school, and do all the little things that need doing.

MissJ- Duvet is gorgeous, DD would love it, might be putting it on her ever growing Christmas list. Was thinking earlier about our visit to you, I don't think I've thanked you enough, we had such a wonderful time and you looked after us all so well. Will have to return the hospitality when you get back from Oz and baby2 is born.

Dog - meant to say, I really like the giant name, works nicely with Joss, which I love. Go with your heart, it is your last time (maybe) so you don't want to regret your choice.

Right, best go and finish my donkey hunt. DD has a donkey bear that goes everywhere and he's had a slight injury that is repairable for now but might become worse in time so I need to find a sub before that happens. He looks like this one on ebay but can't decide if that one is the right size. Am scouring internet for another, the things we do eh?!

hackneyzoo · 15/09/2010 20:14

Dog, glad you feel complete, are you still on a hormonal high? I love that falling in love bit of the first few weeks. Is mr A pleased to have a brother? Thanks for your kind offer of clary sage and raspberry leaf, but I still have a stash from last time.

Books, glad DD is enjoying the childminder, my DD was the same, think DS might be a bit of a different story though...

Ray business sounds good, link please! We go through clips at a rate of knots! DD doesn't have a fringe and it is a PITA keeping her air out of her face.

MissJ I like those cowboy sheets, they look pretty retro, didn't realise she did non flowery sort of stuff.

120, have emailed you...

Am feeling a bit bluerghhh, got a stupid cold and tickly throat. I have the chance of a lie in tomorrow as we are off to Great ormond St to get the scan results back, so might sneak off to bed with a book...

teaandcakeplease · 15/09/2010 20:15

Oh yes please, can I see the hair clips too Ray? I've been growing out part of my DD's fringe and thinning it out, so she wears a lot of hair clips Smile

DD had a dummy in the bed too. As I went to bed I always added a couple more and dotted them around her head, so she could always find one in her sleep Blush So glad the dummy fairy has been and gone now. Also glad DS is a thumb sucker (until he gets bad teeth) so life is simpler with him.

hackneyzoo · 15/09/2010 20:21

Lenni, x posts, this site will track down any soft toy for free, they found me a much needed replacement bunny for DD and the lady that runs it is lovely.

Dog, meant to say I love the name Joss, the Joss I know is a top person too, I think it goes really well with your DCs other names, also like the giant name.

Sorry, don't want to bring thread down as everyone seems really happy and a lovely post from dog about her new complete familySmile.

We've had some really bad news today, yes I know this year just keeps getting better doesn't it! Just needing to sound off a tad and ask if any of you girls knows anybody in a similar situationa nd could give advice.

So, DH had his appointment with the spinal surgeon today as his back/leg thing has failed to improve and the prognsis was quite shattering. He diagnosed a prolapsed disc which we kind of suspected but also that it had been so severe that the nerve to his foot may have died which is why he is unable to control it properly when walking etc. He has an MRI next week to properly assess and then the guy is 90% sure he will need back surgery to improve the pain and then foot surgery to correct the foot position. However, this is not just coming to terms with the idea of surgery for DH as he also told him that it will not improve after surgery just will not get worse IYSWIM. So he will NEVER be able to run and play sport again and will only be able to walk at a fairly slow pace.

Of course, as you would expect he is devastated. Aside from the everyday issues he is an incredibly active person who loves his football. He is heart-broken that he may not be able to play football with Z when he is older.

We are sincerely hoping this is worst case scenario obviously but there was not much positive to take from it. The only silver lining is the health insurance that he has through work which means he is being seen quickly and privately rather than it dragging on for months.

If anybody has some positive tales related to this they would be much appreciated!

missjackson · 15/09/2010 21:49

Wow, lots of chat on the new thread - the new puppy has obviously galvanised us all! Have read all but retained nothing so apologies for giant holes in catch up.

dog must feel great to think no more pregnancies, family complete! I loved first time around but 2nd is really no glamour at all, just makes everything harder. I really can't see any positives! Except of course the scrummy newborn baby at the end of it. Love Joss. Oliver will give you slightly weird initials though no? I like the C name anyway, it's nice to have something unusual in the middle.

I have already decided on my baby's name but have to play it very, very cool with OH in order to get my own way eventually as it's quite radical. So am being ambivalent about it, and enthusiastic about all of his choices.... Mwa ha ha.... and no, not telling, sorry!

lenni no need for more thanks (the chocs were thanks enough!), we had so much fun with all of you staying, and we look forwards to doing it again next year.

books just reading about your choc cookies is making my mouth water. Must branch out from the brownies!

120 sounds like a good diet plan, but I thought you looked fab anyway. And your place looks immaculate! I'm exactly the same as you with cleaning, I can never just clean, I end up getting everything off the worktop and scrubbing the grout with a toothbrush, and hours go by and I don't really achieve anything else.

Have run out of memory now. Waves to everyone else.

So now I have the cute duvet cover and the new room (nearly finished), how do I actually go about persuading a co-sleeping toddler into his own bed? My thought was to put a mattress on the floor by his bed, and just put him firmly back into bed each time he tries to get up with same words 'time for bed', or whatever. Sort of 'rapid return'. Lenni, how did you do it? I am sure you told me, but brain like a sieve...

120 · 15/09/2010 21:55

Oh no Pat ((((hugs))). Really sorry to hear that. I'm afraid I can't give any advice or stories, but please sound off as much as you need to. That is a devastating thing to be told.

EEk hope my post for names for Dog didn't sound as if I didn't like Joss! I feel sometimes it helps to think about other names to rule them out and solidfy your decision.

Was coming on to say I finished the Butterfly for DD but am now feeling very sad for Pat. I really hope that physio will help it all mend again xxx

Pat So sorry for your DH. That is awful news. Good vibes your way to keep things positive.

Moose EEK about DD's wrist. V and DH were roughhousing one day and she got her wrist twist and boy, did she holler. We were so far up north that it would have been at least an hours drive to the hospital. Thank goodness she was ok.

Lenni I feel the same way about the AIBU threads, but I get caught up in them sometimes. Like a train wreck.. you shouldn't really look but you can't help yourself. lol.

Rray I fade in and out of here all the time. At least some of us are on FB so I don't feel to out of the loop.

Thanks for the BDAY wishes today BTW. The big drama today though is that one of my FB Friends found an image of DD swimming naked, (you could only see her bum, not even her face) and cited it as offensive and its been removed.) So, I'm planning on making some, um, remarks about it through the day... maybe. Things change from minute to minute around here now that DD is 21 months!

She has started with chiming the 'No No NO!' and Hey! Funny but, I could do without the indolence. Grin

120 · 15/09/2010 22:06

xpost MissJ. I think if they are a good sleeper, generally they'll be a good sleeper whatever they sleep in so I wouldn't worry too much. Also good to get it all out of the way well before the new baby (but that's a whole other story...)

OP posts:
PatTheHammer · 15/09/2010 22:09

Thanks guys,

Books- yes I think he would still be able to do throwing, catching etc but I think 'grieving' is the right thing to say, running is just something that you expect to be able to do isn't it. I just imagine that it shatters any visions of what the type of father he wanted to be with them, physical, hands'on etc.

E is VERY much enjoying school thanks, the afternoons have been a bit waring for whoever is looking after her so I think she definitely needs to go full-time asap! We have had a few comments from the teacherGrin She ain't seen nothing yet!
She is so sweet practising her phonics somgs and actions and telling me about her assembles and stuff. She loved PE too, now she knows what it actually IS (she thought it was just getting dressed and undressed bless her!)

120- they haven't mentioned physio yet, I guess there is that route but they want to get round the surgery first. The other thing is covincing him 6 weeks off work will not be too bad a thing, this is the man who didn't take a day off till May this year and hardly ever takes a full week off for fear of it reflecting badly on him. Got my work cut out there I think!

MissJ- Nye's room sounds so cute and so exciting that you have chosen the name already, I think your evil plan will definitely work!Grin

PatTheHammer · 15/09/2010 22:12

Sorry about the typos

'assemblies' and 'songs' clearly!

Tired and emotional!

Chef- cannot believe that has happened to your photo. I have seen much more ofensive stuff than a small childs butt on FB.
