do you mean regular cow's milk? i wouldn't yet, because of the sodium content etc, i'm sure it wouldn't really do any harm, but just being cautious...
i rarely leave roo, whenever i have done then it's ebm, he'll drink it from a doidy cup/sippy cup, but isn't that fussed abt it. i think missing one feed or having less than usual occasionally can't really do any harm, they'll just make up elsewhere i think.
has he had any formula? roo hasn't, the only one i'd give is hipp, which unhelpfully doesn't come in small packs ready made. they do have some 10mth & up ready made stuff which is vanilla flavoured, which i've been thinking of giving roo in the new year, when dh will be having him every afternoon (he won't quite be 1, & i won't get round to expressing every day i bet, nor do i want to be making up formula!).
i'm aiming for 2 bf a day ideally, now got it down to 5ish in 24 hours, if it got down to morning/night then i'd feed for as long as roo wanted i guess! or until i get fed up
any help??

ooh, tipex tell me more abt hipp being unethical?? i've missed that one...
re our ds's being a bit older & still bf at bedtime...am hoping by then that (say at 18mths) the occasional night without mummy-milk (cowsmilk in beaker instead?) won't be too traumatic. well that's what i'm betting on anyway, as i'm not planning on expressing any longer once he hits 1! (tho be warned my friend's dd just turned 1 & doesn't like cows milk...yet!)

starlover · 11/11/2005 20:58

oooh hello all! i am back! having serious computer problems here!
basically we're using a machine that dp built, which runs on Linux rather than lovely windows! (musn't let him see me write that!)... anyway, whilst trying to load something onto it to make it cleverer he has buggered it up and now it won't work at all!
sooooooooo I am currently online somehow... enabled by a USB device and I suspect some sort of black magic.
I hve no idea really, but it kind of works although it's a bit shit! LOL

not sure if I iwll be back again anywhen soon though, unless I can persuade him to bring his laptop home from work!

oooh soo much to catch up on though! I am off to member profiles in a bit to see if you all still have pics up! Linus is being just so very, very gorgeous at the moment

If you're still interested in routines this is ours:

6.45 (ish) Milk 6oz
8ish breakfast
10.30ish milk 6oz
12ish lunch
3ish milk 6oz
5ish dinner
7ish milk 6oz
followed shortly by bed!

all of these are approximations. He doesnt' always have milk/food on the dot, and he doesn't always have all his milk either!

ooh and we use cow and gate organic formula, also not available in small cartons!

OP posts:
roosmum · 11/11/2005 21:01

oh i haven't seen that one, where from sl??

thanks for routine, we're now down to abt 5 feeds in 24hrs - rejoicing roosmum!

starlover · 11/11/2005 21:08

well, we used to only be able to get it from sainsburys, but our boots has started stocking it too!

Hi ladies
It's been a while...
Glad to hear everyone is doing well

I went to my office today to resign which went okay

Still breastfeeding here but have introduced 1 bottle of formula a day. Got fed up with attempting to feed DS in public whilst he craned his head to look at anything interesting... ceiling fan, lady speaking french, anything!

Question - have you all got 2nd stage car seats yet? I'm not sure which one to go for

roosmum · 11/11/2005 22:07

hiya blonde!
congrats (if due!) on resigning, are you now a full-time-mummy?
if so -

tipex & i still bf & looks like in it for the long haul (see us giving it some in abt 18mths on the extended bf threads), but know what you mean abt the public - 'oooh let's crane my neck round constantly, with no regard for mum's modesty' business, which i guess i'm just used to now! saw a mum bf today in m&s, with baby in sling, she obviously didn't give a monkeys, good on her!

car seats - we have a recaro young expert. most lovely comfy seat we could find (tho dh mostly wanted it, i'd have bought isofix), pricey tho.

Hazellnut · 11/11/2005 22:28

Hellooo all !!

Congrats Blondeinlondon - Am awaiting the day with much eagerness when I hand in my resignation. Got about a month to go and I CAN'T WAIT - It will bring to an end 7 years of hell !!!!!!!

Had a really annoying day today - got stood up by my neighbour (newly acquainted with) who I was going to tag along to a playgroup with. I know she went and must have forgot me despite her ocming over here earlier in the week to initiate it . Oh well.. had another chum here this afternoon who has found another playgroup for us to go to but just v.v.v. annoying about the first one....

Blondeinlondon · 11/11/2005 23:26

Yes I am now a full-time SAHM
They seemed surprised which was quite nice

tipex...after saying that abt bf, i could happily give it up just now!
just posted on another thread that roo bit me so hard last night that he drew blood & has been biting - hard! - at every feed for the last 2 days. last 24 hrs in all have been a nightmare in fact, & i feel 100% drained. he's teething like mad i think, he has 5 & maybe more coming - he won't really let me look. calpol makes him vomit instantly he has it, so i'm stuck.
all i feel capable of really is moaning on MN! poor dh is a start tho, gets up lots with him at night, whilst i just feel a constant wreck.

roosmum · 12/11/2005 19:50

rather, dh is a star...

thanks tipex, i guess this is payback for having it easy(ish) at the start! the sooner roo cuts this out the better, it's truly awful!
never given him ibuprofen, we're quite shocked at the dramatic effects of calpol on him, tho BIL who's also a doc just suggested this earlier. dh not keen on the idea - but me, i'd feed him most anything just now if it'd make him sleep through

starlover · 12/11/2005 20:31

ooh 2 nights in a row!
good to see you blonde! we have the bebe confort iseos tt car seat. it's really nice... squidgy seat, a knob you turn to recline it smoothly and adjustable width! it's really fantastic

OP posts:
starlover · 12/11/2005 20:32

roosmum, why are you not keen on the ibuprofen?
calpol also makes Linus a bit sick, but he is fine on the baby nurofen

OP posts:
roosmum · 12/11/2005 20:34

dunno really, it's more dh i think. he's generally v. anti drugs & won't take painkillers himself. & effects of calpol on roo are really dramatic, which puts us off too.
but for the sake of some sleep..!

how are you feeling now? you sound chirpier?

starlover · 12/11/2005 20:36

well yeah i can understand that... and i was a bit like it myself at first... but then i figured with us if we decide not to take drugs then that's our choice. But if your baby is in pain it isn't really fair on them to make them just get on with it
you may find he is fine on nurofen!

i do feel a little bit better! have joined a new toddler group with a couple of people and also have chatted to a few people i was in hospital/baby massage with who i met randomly in town!
still thinking i ought to make that doctors appt though

roosmum · 12/11/2005 20:39

tipex, i'm this (little tiny bit emoticon) to going to supermarket, or sending roosdad...they're open til 11ish or something, so there's time yet!

NOT giving up bf, gonna be hard abt this
even if i do have to yowl at every feed...

sl that sounds good! i've found that getting out to baby groups has been the only thing to keep me sane! & makes for a better mummy all round. plus i've met lots of lovely people, hopefully some will be friends for a good while yet.

if you get down, the thought of me squealing through a bf has gotta be worth a smile??
