i was looking at the big squidgy m&p rockers... but having seen a kid on one i don't think that Linus will be able to reach the handles... there is a lot of animal to reach around to get hold of them!

so am thinking of a wooden rocking horse from john lewis... have seen them in a couple of other places too...

also liking the discovery dome (think it might be fisher price), and Linus will be getting some bath toys

pjsmum · 23/10/2005 11:57

What a morning, Polly woke up with a gooey eye, then vomited 3 times. sat at docs for 40 mins now gotta get drops in her eye. That will be ok whilst dp is here but i can see her putting up a struggle when its just me! Bless her its horrible seeing her like that. Hope all is well with everyone else

WitchHazellnut · 23/10/2005 22:27

Ahh PJsmum - hope Polly is feeling better....

dd had a bit of a bad day but think (hope) its just teething as think DH and I have change about 7 or 8 nasty nappies....... But she did manage to pull herself up today and toddle behind one of those wooden brick toddle truck things.

Also (drum roll) have just order the Quinny Zapp. Am VERY excited. Think I just wore dh down going on and on about it.

WitchHazellnut · 26/10/2005 16:34

HellO! WHere is everyone, been a bit quiet round here lately...

Anyway, just thought I would let you know that my Zapp has arrived today and it is standing up in the sitting room (dd wasn't impressed I made her sit in it inside for a while !!). Am off shopping with my mum tomorrow so will be able to give it a good test run. Have lent the Mac to a friend who I am hoping will like it but am not holding out much hope considering I had to be honest and tell her how much I didn't like it !

Tipex, did you solve your pushchair dilemma.

pjsmum · 26/10/2005 18:08

the gooey eye has gone, thank goodness. So has mine! we looked a right pair on monday only 2 decent eyes between us! Polly got another tooth yesterday too so she's been particulary grumpy the last couple of days. Hope all is well with you all and your LO's .

misdee · 26/10/2005 18:11

i just bought a maclarem ryder. i am selling my zapp after a horrendous week with it (sorry witchhazelnut, i know i said it was great) but the lack of basket and recline really annoyed me when i went away with the kids. as a travel sytem its great and for an older child for 'city' living maybe, but not for us, after 4months i just decided to sell it on ebay today.

WitchHazellnut · 26/10/2005 18:17

misdee I DID notice in another thread you were thinking of selling yours which worried me for a bit after all you'd said about it b-u-t you weren't the only one who said good thiings about it and TBH I think I was decided anyway !! The recline feature (or lack of) doesn't worry me, the shopping basket does a bit but the mac didn't have a very useable one anyway so always had to take the M&P if I wanted to load it up so will have to do this too !!

Must admit was going to post a (tongue in cheek) 'oi Misdee' thread but decided you didn't need any more of a hardtime ! Hope the ryder suits you - you never know I might be askng you about it soon (although don't think dh would find it amusing if I decded I didn't like this one !!).

Would have mostly minded if you were selling a balck one and I'd missed out on the bargain ! But think yours is orange ?

misdee · 26/10/2005 18:21

mine is ornage. it is stil la great buggy, like i say for people who dont need a shopping basket, and for older kids, then great, and it pushes lovely. really it does. i was pushing my 5yr old in it at one point last week as she wasnt feeling well, and she said it was lovely and 'combly' lol. and it did the job i needed which was for the hospital visits and getting it in my parents car. which has a piddly boot as well. i will miss how small it is, and the fact the ryder takes up almost all my boot is annoying but its what i need

WitchHazellnut · 26/10/2005 19:14

it IS lovely to push... can't wait to try it out properly !!

boo at everyone having new buggies! i want something new as well!!!

well done on baby tipex and the crawling!

we have another milestone here! first steps!

Pumpnik72 · 27/10/2005 19:35

Zapps rock!!. didn't need the cosy new footmuff today, it was SO warm & sunny.

Dd still crawling backwards but I'm sure will find forward gear any day. She's back to her normal sleep pattern now her teeth are through, hooray!

Am off on our weekend away tomorrow - am really lookign forward to it though will probably worry that dd is OK. Keep telling myself she'll be fine & will be spoilt rotten by her doting grandparents.

Well done Linus, walking already - what a wee star!

pjsmum · 27/10/2005 20:20

Well done on the walking, quite brilliant. Polly can pull herself up on everything now, nothing is sacred! Having got over the gooey eye she now has swollen eyelids, an allery to different washing powder. Thought it would be ok as non bio but obviously not. Spotted 2 new teeth today, no wonder she miserable. Can't wait for this week to be over its been horrible. very jealous of you lucky lot getting new buggies.

ghostifer · 27/10/2005 23:08

wow, all going on here

just been out with my bestfriend so a bit pissed!

nik72 - backwards is the new forwards IYKWIM???
pjsmum ,the whole pulling himself up thing is totally where leon is at!!!
tipex, crawling, how fantastic!
starlover - well linus just know no bounds!hazelnut and misdee - you are buggy mad and almost (but not quite!) make me want a new one.....

leon is crawling and everywhere and each day i move something new out of his way, but i look at him and cannot quite believe that this time last year this little person was growing inside me and how lucky i am to have a healthy child to share with my dp

how lucky are we?

best wishes to you all lovely ladies

Wow !! First steps - congrats Linus/SL (thought of you today actually as I drove passed Crawley !) and well done Tipex-ette on the crawling!!

I appear to have a bum shuffler ! Yesterday, dd managed to get about 3-4 metres bouncing along on her bum. Quite amusing to watch ..... Although this was on a nice squishy carpet at my parents, think she finds it a bit more difficult on our wooden floors.

by the way the buggy went great round the shops soooo light to push, bit of a pain no basket and dd didn't sleep in it but then she doesn't sleep in much out ! Right thats my final word on the subject. Off to think of another purchase to get obssessed about.

startingtobehalloweenylover · 28/10/2005 19:29

hi everyone

nik... dp's cousin always crawled backwards apparently! he used to look over his shoulder and then just go for it! lol may not be the more accepted way of doing it but it's certainly a talking poitn!

hazellnut... glad you're happy with the buggy... didn't realise it had no shopping basket either! i'd be lost without one! lol... although i guess you can still hang things on the handles which i can't do bumshufflers are cool, but beware you will go through many pairs of trousers bum first! lol

pjsmum... sorry polly is a bit under the weather still they are so sensitive to things at this age i think, ds has just got over a cold which lasted about 3 weeks i think!

tipex... was saying the same thing to a friend earlier... we'll be having tantrums at about 1 i think! someone save me!

Have been out today and got this for Linus for christmas.
Have also been searching for a nice smart outfit for him that doesn't cost the earth and a stocking! but failed on both counts!

pjsmum · 28/10/2005 21:32

We got polly one of those this week! She loves it! Just a warning though the music is quite annoying.

WitchHazellnut · 28/10/2005 21:40

Meant to mention the most amusign thing which has happened this week - For the last couple of nights dd has suddenly started crying inconsolably during the evening when we get up to her room she is sitting bolt upright and crying as if to say 'mummy I don't know how I got here - helllllllpppppp'. Its very cute !!

startingtobehalloweenylover · 31/10/2005 22:35

WH... linus does that too! only he keeps doing it at intervals throughout the night too! grrrr

WitchHazellnut · 01/11/2005 08:23

hmmm not so cutue during the night I should imagine !!

Hope you're over your supermarket problems yesterday - perhaps today, you can look back on it and laugh !?! Mind you, that'll teach you for trying to be all posh and not just buying your cake and pudding !!

Hazellnut · 01/11/2005 08:26

best change my name back now Halloween is over - DD went to a Halloween party yesterday in a 'mummy's little pumpkin' costume complete with hat with a stalk on it - v. cute !!

Right bonfire night names anyone ?!

nik72 · 01/11/2005 09:32

Hi all,
Had a lovely weekend away though was in tears leaving! Needless to say dd was fine at my parents place & had a great time getting loads of attention. Mind you my mum did say she'd forgotten what hard work babies are (and dd is a fairly easy baby I think).

Just to change topic & be slightly contraversial but what on earth do you lot make of the whole "Cod" thing?? Was lurking around last night having posted on a couple of very innocuous threads and everything just kicked off. Starlover had a (IMHO totally justified) pop at cod for being a bitch and got treated as if she'd commited some kind of blasphemy. all quite reminiscent of being at school and girl gangs I thought. Partly why I stick to intermittent posts on boring threads !

Hazellnut · 01/11/2005 10:05

glad you had a good weekend away Nik - maybe the second time will be easier (have only done it once myself and that was soooo hard !)

Agree totally on the Cod thing she just seems to be getting worse and worse - SL was well within reason having a go (well done SL) but like you, I only post on non-controversial threads mostly.

Hazellnut · 01/11/2005 10:08

Now you've got me started...

It also really annoys me when people moan about people always asking the same things - usually this is about weaning and different food or something. People seem to forget what it is like to be a first time mum when you worry constantly about whether you are doing the right thing or not and just need reassurance and it doesn't help if people then come on and 'parp' threads or post silly new threads to take the pi$$.

Rant over. Must get ready for swimming !!
