neenz i'm feeding him as much as possible in the day. He can't really self settle though, only sleeps on me after a feed or in the pram after a walk. I've tried leaving him to cry in his cot a few times but he is still going strong after 10 mins. Keep trying I suppose. At least he generally settles well at night after waking for feeds - we use white noise if he's not settling which works well.

He had his 12 week jabs today. DH is off work today so took him. He (DH) didn't find it upsetting at all (heart of stone?!). J didn't cry much though apparently.

sparkle chirstmas pud outfit sounds very cute! We nearly bought J a reindeer outfit but couldn't quite justify the cost, shame :)

i was also following the cricket during the night feeds last night. could have done without feeding at 2330, 0200 AND 0530 though. oh well.

marzipan S is exactly the same with the 1.5-2 hour stretches at night. I feed him all day too and let him scream self-settle but he's just going through a phase and has done for the last 4 (?) weeks. Last night he only woke at 3 and then up for the day at 6.30 but that's an unbelievable night in our household.

elusive is your upstairs bath/bed room finished yet? good weight btw, S is coming up 18wks and is 14lb3 ish so your little boy's a whopper for sure

Must run, S has sunk so low in his baby nest that I can hardly see him!

Right, breastfeeding no 154678. I don't think A is getting enough from me. We have grizzly periods in the evenings lasting a couple of hours now where he latches on, has about 2 sucks then comes off again howling. I then give up, go and get a bottle of formula & he wolfs the lot. Have I buggered up my supply post mastitis last week or is anyone else that has exclusively breastfed so far finding their LO hungrier these days? Its still sore to feed but I really want to keep going - hope this isn't a slippery slope but he does seem to prefer the bottle and he's only had about 5 so far over the last week..

Hi all. I have been lurking on here after adding myself to the list when I was first pregnant. Just wondered if anyone could give me any advice. Ds is 15 weeks now and the night sleeping is getting worse. As a newborn he was only waking once in the night for feedind and he regularly got to 4 or 5 in the morning. He is now having a bottle between ten and eleven and waking 3 more times in the night. If I feed him he settles straight back down but I'm sure he can't really be hungry. Dd is also waking in the night and I'm totally shattered.

Anyway hector it may well be that the bottle is easier work for him as he wants to get the milk straight away and you will have the letdown happening before full on milk. I believe it takes longer in the evening when you are less rested and more tired etc etc. Have you expressed at all? It might be worth expressing until letdown and then latching him on?

edward we have had this too, I think ours was a growth spurt but it was exhausting whilst happening!

Dh is at work and I've had dd1 in my bed since 1130 refusing to sleep/return to own bed..
Now the baby is also awake so its a three in a bed of a less exciting nature..
Went out last night so didnt get to sleep until 11 then T slept until 4 which is her longest since she first got ill. Obviously tonight when I went to sleep at 945 she wakes at 1230 so the nice long sleep I envisaged has evaporated.
Dd1 has been a holy terror the past few days and will ve even worse Tomoro as she hasn't slept properly and neither have I so won't have the patience to deal with her.
Aargh rant over

Morning marzi no it just got worse from then on as I eventually ignored dd1 and fell asleep around 2 then Dh must ve come home from work and replaced her but then tilly woke at 4 up till about )515 then dd2 woke up at 530 and after I sorted her out Dh told me to put Tilly in her cot which woke her up then the others woke around 7.
Think I had about 3.5 hours sleep and not in a row. Days like this make me want to run away.

Anyone doing anything good today? I really should go shopping it's Dh s birthday this wk but when he gets up I'm going straight back to bed!

oh no that sounds grim! Sleep definitely higher priority than shopping!

We are having a rubbish time wrt feeding/sleeping too. I thought the gastric flu bug i had had buggered up my milk supply as i feel so empty and F is feeding loads, up every 1.5 - 2hrs last night i normally have plenty of milk and express for milk donation

Edward perhaps both ours are having growth spurts? I think this is around the time people used to wean (F is also just coming up 15wks) so that would make sense i suppose.

Gotta go, DH getting stressy, DD getting hyper and DS getting wriggly

weehector if you want to keep bfing you need to feed, feed and feed. S has been a milk monster for about 4 weeks now (he's 17 weeks I think, I've lost count). He feeds every 2 hours day and night and sometimes has nights of every hour...yes, it's wearing but they do get a 4 month (ish) growth spurt and it's a nightmare but they need it to grow. It very rare for your milk to dry up unless you're supplementing a lot. Obviously if he's used to the bottle he could be getting lazy and liking it better cos it's easier. In that case you definitely need to keep feeding as much as you can, even if he's on/off/on/off for ages. The reason he fusses is cos there probably isn't enough for him but him sucking is going to prod your body into making more. You could try feeding and expressing at the same time, then swapping boobs and doing it the other side. You'll get extra stimulation, once the letdown starts he might be happier to feed and your milk supply will go up. This is prime time for a growth spurt but you can get through it! Sorry for mammoth post - as you were :)
