Marking my place

Been back in bed asleep since about 1130!

Dh has been ill with the tummy bug again and must ve got in from work around 3/4 am so he's officially my hero for taking over!

thedogwalker · 28/11/2010 15:54

Sorry to hear lots of you are having troube with LOs waking up in the night. Wishing you all lots of sleeping vibes for tonight.

Weehector hope you find an answer to your LO not wanting the boob, but what Chulita has said seems to make sense. I must admit, my LO is 14 weeks and he has started to up his eating again and even when my boobs feel really floppy as if there is no milk in them, he still latches on and i can hear him gulping down milk.

My DS is a darling at the moment, for the past 3 weeks, he has been bathed, fed and in bed for 8 pm and he hasn't woken until 6 am. This morning it was 6.25. Long may it reign, but I've heard that when teething starts, (which could be a reason why some of your LOs are no longer settling) that sleeping patterns change again Confused.

My DH is working away again Sad. It is now getting to the point where he is away more or less every other week, not happy but that's his job.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend, take care xx

marzipananimal · 28/11/2010 16:03

wow that sounds great dogwalker (the sleep bit not the DH working away!) We're thinking of starting to try and train J to sleep through. I have very mixed feelings about it but I think he's now sometimes waking out of habit rather than hunger and we need to do something about it.

I just put him down for a nap in his pram and he went to sleep with no fuss, not even any rocking or white noise required Shock Shock Grin

bellygazing · 28/11/2010 16:51

Hi all,
Have tried to post a couple of times and my browser keeps vanishing. Grrr.
gya sounds like a v tiring night, hope you get a better night's sleep soon.
dogwalker big envy on your sleeping babe.

We're doing a bit of sleep training at the mo - not to sleep through as when she wakes in the night she is clearly hungry as it's always different times and she feeds really well at night. But Elodie had been getting v reliant on falling asleep on the boob so for the last few days I've been going on boob strike.

After her bath, she can have a good long breast-feed, then after up to an hour, no more. She can have a bottle of expressed milk to make sure she's not hungry, but no boob to soothe her to sleep, only rocking and cuddles. It's going quite well, although DH finds it really difficult to deal with her crying especially when we both know if I whipped a boob out she would be happy. We discovered if he has his headphones in and music in the background he can cope a bit better :o

Anyway, last night was pretty good for us, down before 9pm, asleep until 2am then until 6am, then up at 9.30am.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

LCRLCR · 28/11/2010 17:09

Hi all, marking my place! Sympathies for those of you suffering from broken nights, last night S woke at 3.30 and didn't settle down again until 6, really rough going. DH slept through all the whinging (mine & baby's)!

We're off to Ireland tomorrow for a few days, just S & I so really hope the flight goes well & that the snow doesn't disrupt too much. Feel v sorry for her, she's got a chesty cough and has been a bit miserable all day.

Right looking forward to some Strictly and X Factor action later xx

thedogwalker · 28/11/2010 17:24

Thankfully it was a pattern my DS made up himself. I was waking him at 10 pm to give him a bottle of ebm, but it got to the stage where he would only take about 1/2 an ounce, whereas before he was taking 5 oz. So I just dropped the 10 pm feed, crossed my fingers and hey presto he slept through on his accord and has done ever since Grin.

LCR hope you have a good time in Ireland. Who you voting for on X factor and strictly?

I love Pamela on Strictly and Matt on X Factor.

cazzybabs · 28/11/2010 19:22

right Alice and her ginormous baps and me are meeting up tomorrow... so if either one of us doesn't report in we have done away with one of us if you see what I mean... failing that we will have just lost internet connection!

Figgyrolls · 28/11/2010 20:49

marking my place ladies, have nothing of great help to impart to anyone and incase you have forgotten me andin my new form was Doodley now figgyrolls!

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 28/11/2010 21:09

Hey Smile

Tonight all babies will sleep well - they will positive thinking! especially mine Confused

Cazzy looking forward to the Funky Funhouse Hmm Grin

F has been asleep since about 7.30pm, so i have managed to write some christmas cards - it is not even december yet! Shock

Bit depressing my lack of milk. I put the electric pump on earlier while i was feeding the other side and got 1.5oz when i would normally get 5-6oz Sad Oats apparently help boost milk supply, so bucket of porridge tomorrow then.

pamplem0usse · 28/11/2010 21:22

Alice and cazzy have fun... Cazzy when I met Alice....(tries to think up sone funny made up story)...
So S has been loads better (yay!) though has regressed to being difficult to put down at night. Ah I love her so much though.... And she's sleeping through the night so can't complain!
Alice my milk supply def suffered after my gastro bug. Maybe up what you're eating and drinking for a couple of days? I rather embarrassingly had plenty of fat stored to tide me through....
Chulita hope your little girl had a lovely birthday
To all you cricket fans - yay!!!! Fingers crossed for tonight!!!! Would love to see cook get a double century!
Xxx

ElusiveMoose · 28/11/2010 21:37

Hi all. Marking my place, but can't stay, as I'm having a seriously crappy couple of days (DS1 really ill, poor love (raging temperature, fluey symptoms and sickness), plus S has started waking more often in the night for feeds, and is also being a bit grizzly, with a cold I think). I'm dead on my feet, so off to bed.

girlsyearapart · 28/11/2010 21:43

Alice- have flapjacks!

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 28/11/2010 21:50

Well, if you insist GYA Grin

Pample no funny made up stories, just how we tested my buggy to it's full strength when some stupid woman drove into us - still can't believe it! Glad S is being herself again.

Marzi Sad poor DS's and poor you, hope you have a good night.

Time for putting clean bedding on the bed and a shower. Still contemplating trying a dream feed for F hmmmm....

bellygazing · 28/11/2010 22:25

Gah! Gave in on the boob strike tonight. I whacked the heat on constant after geting paranoid about the forecast of -8 tonight and then we both got insanely hot when I was rocking her to sleep. After nearly an hour of us both getting hotter and hotter I caved in and gave her boob as it was the only way I could soothe her without us both bursting into flames Blush

Please reassure me that I haven't screwed up the lesson we've been trying to teach her for the last four days...

pamplem0usse · 29/11/2010 04:43

Alice...., oh yes. I forgot. We don't actually need made up stories. Idiotic woman.
so S woke at four because she weed so much her reusable nappy couldn't hold it! Had to give her a complete change so she now thinks it's playtime.
But so does mummy to be frank with this cricket score! One more wicket and I'm watching it on telly. Wonder if tms will print my breastfeeding post! Xx

marzipananimal · 29/11/2010 08:31

belly it's so hard isn't it when you know you have an instant way of soothing them. Have you tried white noise (a recording of the hoover/washing machine/shower)? That generally works for us (at night anyway).

Well I think J must have heard me and DH talking about sleep training and decided to pre-empt us. He slept 8.15-2.15 then woke at 4.45 and 7. Best night we've had in ages!

Hope the dses feel better soon elusive

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 29/11/2010 08:42

Not having a good day so far. Crap nights sleep, most being 2hrs unbroken 11.30pm - 1.30am. It has chucked it down with snow in the last 45mins so my meet up with Cazzy is looking a bit dubious, F is grumpy (not enough sleep, teething, not enough milk - who knows!) and then bloody DH leaves the front door open when he goes to work so the bloody house is arctic Angry he keeps not shutting the door properly, reckons it sticks or whatever, but it never happens with me when i am getting 2 kids in and out the house

Ok, rant over

Going to positive and proactive about everything. First step phone DH at work to bollock him about the door - done Blush (was kind of the last straw)
Put teething gel on F and put him down for a nap - done (gone quiet, hopefully asleep now)
Snow has stopped now, keep fingers crossed for no more.
Meet up with Cazzy
Try to express some milk today (please give me a rest F!)
Bedtime - F to have calpol and ebm at 11pm

Hope is everyone is having a better time

Chulita · 29/11/2010 15:01

Hope you have a lovely day alice and cazzy!

OP posts:
marzipananimal · 29/11/2010 15:58

Hope you day is going to plan alice

I've been following a routine from a book today (with some adjustments) and (touch wood) it's working Shock! He's currently having his third nap of the day. Only thing is, he wakes up crying about 40 mins into his naps and I have to put the hoover on to get him back to sleep.
I wonder how tonight will go considering he's had more sleep than usual today.

Did TMS print your post pample? Yay for Strauss, Cook and Trott!

girlsyearapart · 29/11/2010 18:34

On the plus side marzi your house is very clean with all that hoovering!
Have no snow here are we the only ones??

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 29/11/2010 18:47

Evening Smile

More snow here now, although managed to get out earlier to meet Cazzy and very glad i did as she is lovely Smile

F has slept loads today little beggar! But i have managed to express 3oz today so an improvement.

Right, DC bath time, then bedtime, then i can make some soup (latest attempt at weightloss)

cazzybabs · 29/11/2010 19:12

alice - its that cookie that has helped the milk

BTW I was about the post the same thing - if you want to meet up with some friendly, chatty and with extremely well behaved children alice is your lady

(unlike me who had to drag dd3 home screaming)

cazzybabs · 29/11/2010 19:13

bugger missed out a one

"if you want to meet up with someONE "

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 29/11/2010 19:30

Yes, but i did't see that bit Grin

the cookie definitely helped, in fact i may have to buy make some cookies tomorrow - purely for milk production of course Wink

weehector · 30/11/2010 01:20

Bear Bear (just because I can do bears!)

cookies, yay! sounds like a better day all round ladies. have started Christmas shopping tonight but now want to firebomb Toysrus for taking the last Barbie Fashion Fairytale Carriage out of my online basket whilst I was feeding the boy. Grr!
