elusive that sponge was lurvely, DH liked it too and he's not a fruit sponge man!

weehector I have no idea what my problem is, going to the GP's tomoz to get it checked. It burns like thrush but it looks like a milk blister and I can't seem to clear it...really pissing me off though. Well done for carrying on though, I keep telling myself that it'll all be easier once he gets to 6 months-ish.

ElusiveMoose · 18/11/2010 13:17

Chulita glad you and DH liked the sponge. Hector go on, go on, you know you want to. Just think of the warm mapley sponge with a drizzle of chilled cream on top.... And besides, what else is your Kitchenaid for if not to use it? Seriously, though, I'm very glad to hear you're so generally loved up at the moment.

We seem to be having a tiny breakthrough with the daytime naps today..... by ditching the dummy! I've put him down twice today, both times wide awake and dummyless, and both times he's fallen asleep within a few minutes of chatting/whinging (no out and out crying). I've no objections to dummies in principle, but given that we're still wondering how on earth we're going to part DS1 (now 3) from his, I'm beginning to think that now is the time to break the habit with S before he gets too hooked...

bouncingblueberries · 18/11/2010 13:52

droooool - elusive that sponge sounds divine! Might have to make it at the weekend.

brilliant news that you're home gya, hope Tilly improves in leaps and bounds.

I'm officially pooing my pants today. ds1 has 2 friends coming for tea after school. I've been running round like a headless chicken to make sure our 2 bed flat looks as lovely as possible. You'll all think I'm mad, but 1 of the friends lives in a mahoosive house and both his older siblings go to private school. I got myself in such a tizz last night about being 'judged' for only lived in a 2 bed flat that I almost cancelled the playdate Blush

But I've decided that if the mum does judge us for living in a poky wee flat, she's not worth having as a friend and ds1 will just have to reject all invitations from school friends and become an outcast...or maybe not.

I'm making pizza and potato wedges for them to eat followed by fruit salad, jelly and squirty cream (ds1 insisted on the jelly and squirty cream Blush)

Send some Stepford wife vibes my way this afternoon please weehector!

cazzybabs · 18/11/2010 13:56

bbb - I am exactly the same and shy away from playdates. However it will be fine and the boys will have a lovely time,

Chulita · 18/11/2010 14:26

blueberries I'm afraid I'm the complete opposite, I have people round and it's only once they leave that DH says ' you did move your bra and pants from the radiator?' Blush I have no shame. People have to take me as they find me...but then I am incredibly loveable Hmm Grin As you say, if she judges you for where you live she's not worth knowing.

neenz · 18/11/2010 15:44

lol Chulita - good for you! Blueberries I am sure she will think your flat is lovely. You don't know where she lived before she married her rich husband Wink.

We went out this morn (with twins in no nappies). Well it didn't go great but could have been worse - 2 poos and 2 wees in their pants but two wees and a poo in the potty. I think we are getting there but it is hard when we have to go out.

3-6mths is the ideal time to ditch the dummy i think, cos they can suck their hands if they want comfort - much younger and they cant get/keep their hands in their mouth.

Daniel is sleeping through but my DD keeps waking in the night shouting 'cuddle cuddle' - 3 times between 3-4am last night! got to knock that on the head... i told her to get herself back to sleep: 'don't call mummy cos mummy needs her sleep'! Blush

Chulita · 18/11/2010 19:47

lalalalalalalala

CazandBelle · 18/11/2010 20:50

gya pleased to hear you are both home. Hope Tilly is on the mend.

Having a mare of a week with DH. Lumber puncture was a success on Monday (hooray!) but his head has been in agony since. A headache was an expected side effect but he had been getting worse and worse all week, no improvement at all, becamse sensitive to lights etc. So today he was readmitted on drips and drugs etc. At dinner time he was staying in the night, but after 8 hours of treatment the Dr said that if he really wanted to come home he could. So we're home, He is so much more human than he was! I'm so glad he was allowed home because I was getting upset about being on my own for the night - I haven't spent a night on my own since Belle died, and I really don't think tonight would've been the night to start. Mum saw the state I was getting in and said she would stay with me if DH was kept in.
So hopefully he is on the mend too now. A long 6 week wait for results though :(

Going off to enjoy a earned glass of wine!

weehector · 18/11/2010 21:13

blueberries life's too short to clean your u bends regularly...I've always found the poshest houses to be the ones that are complete tips anyway. Who cares?! (says the girl who went away for 4 days today, pulling the door behind her on piles of washing & an unemptied bin..Stepford Wife only refers to buying pretty lifestyley things & baking btw).

caz I'm so sorry life is so hard for you just now. Enjoy your wine, you deserve it!

I'm currently in residence at Maison Hector, the family pile. I've had dinner served to me & the staff (my aunt) have taken the child upstairs to allow me a pleasant evening. I too may hit the wine. chulita see you half gished at the 2am feed. Or is the 4am feed better for you? Sigh..when will my baby sleep through?..

Chulita · 19/11/2010 08:32

Either would've been fine weehector, although the 4am was pushed til 5am and he's still asleep now Hmm he never sleeps this late but it'll work out in the end cos I've got to get to the GPs in an hour for the doc's so hopefully he won't be just in need of a nap as I'm heading out the door. Odd though, he's never, ever slept this late!

cazandbelle glad dh got home so you didn't have to be alone. I hope you get some answers so you can start getting on with getting him fixed.

marzipananimal · 19/11/2010 08:34

[sigh] babies are a puzzle. Tuesand weds night were brilliant - slept 10-5 and 5.15-7.30/8.15 Shock Grin but then last night he woke 1.50, 5.50 and 7.30 (still pretty good i know). Why? I didn't do anything different. Oh well.

caz that sounds grim, hope he feels totally better soon.

weehector enjoy your few days away :)

bouncingblueberries · 19/11/2010 09:52

glad your dh got home caz

well, the playdate with the posh family went quite well really! The boys were so excited they almost spontaneously combusted, but the mum was lovely and even complimented my kitchen (so she can come anytime!)

So silly the things we get in a tizz over.

chulita if it makes you feel any better, G has stopped sleeping through and is now completely unpredictable at nights. matchsticks anyone?

I'm meant to be starting to do the 30 day shred dvd today...but I'm sat on the sofa munching mince pies feeding instead Grin

girlsyearapart · 19/11/2010 10:18

Caz your poor Dh post lumbar puncture headache is like nothing else. Did he try to sit up too quickly afterwards?

Had to take Tilly back to a and e yesterday as breathing and feeding were a struggle. Thought they d keep us in but they let us go and prescribed her an inhaler which seems to really help.

She has to drink bare minimum of 18 oz in 24 hours or we have to go back and I managed to get 18.5 down her yesterday...

Still refusing the breast though will keep trying.
The lovely feeding and sleeping routine we had is well and truly out the window ..

My mum has had the other two living with her sleeping there every night since Saturday. I feel like someone who can't be trusted with their own children!

Chulita · 19/11/2010 11:22

blueberries can you do that dvd on top of bfing? I thought about it but wondered if it would affect supply cos it's so intensive. I am also incapable of doing any fitness dvd if dd's awake cos she gets in the way and finds it hilarious and then once they're in bed I'm too tired!

gya at least you got what she needed down her, well done for carrying on with the bfing too, it must be really tricky! Fingers crossed she starts to settle down and you can get back to normal.

bouncingblueberries · 19/11/2010 11:30

good point chulita - just had a look on kellymom.com and the only thing to look out for is plugged ducts when using arm weights. Exercise, whatever the intensity, doesn't affect supply.

...to knackered today though...maybe tomorrow Grin

weehector · 19/11/2010 12:06

Fucking, fucking mastitis is back. I go & get my attachment checked, get told its probably due to the nipples toughening up again after the shields (because pain is only first couple of mins) but given a few pointers on feeding with my large bresticles. I duly follow advice & 9 hours later I'm shaking uncontrollably & have the red, shiny breast of hell. I'm too weak to stand let alone look after A. Just Miserable & weepy that I'm in so much pain & can't look after my boy :(
Will give it a few days on the antibiotics but I'm seriously considering chucking the bf.

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 19/11/2010 12:28

Hello ladies Smile

Haven't caught up yet, just back off holiday and wanted to find all my threads for a catch up later.

marzipananimal · 19/11/2010 12:35

Oh weehector :( mastitis is so grim isn't it? I think the only reason I've managed to keep bfing despite having it 3 times is that feeding helps it get better, and then by the time I'm feeling better I decide I can carry on. Hopefully you'll start feeling better very soon (antibiotics always worked quickly for me). What dose have you been given? It should be 500mg flucloxacillin, 4 times a day for 10-14 days. (unless you're allergic to penicillin). I only got given 250mg for 7 days the first 2 times I had it. WRONG DOSE (silly GPs). Hugs xxx

Chulita · 19/11/2010 13:22

Poo, I thought bfing would be a decent excuse Grin I've heard you've got to keep drinking a lot though. I just don't have the energy to exercise, but I'm sure if I did I'd make better use of the sleep I'm getting - it's a vicious circle!

weehector :( the antiB's should kick in quickly and you'll be feeling better. Sorry you're feeling Miserable (is that worse than plain old lower-case miserable? Wink) Echo marzipan and keep feeding on that painful side. Bfing does get better as they get older, but it is hard going for some of us!

GP took one look at my nipple and said it'll clear up in a week. I told her I'd had it for close to 10 weeks and she looked surprised and then said she'd try and get me seen by another GP who does 'minor surgery' Confused hmm...we'll see how that goes. In the meantime I'll just keep gritting those teeth.

CazandBelle · 19/11/2010 13:24

Hello ladies...

wee hope you're feeling better soon.

Belle's rose from you all has arrived this morning! I'm really looking forward to going to the garden centre later on and choosing her pot! I will post a photo later when it is potted! I cannot wait for it to flower either!

Thank you so so much for all your kindness and thoughtfulness. I really am overwhelmed again how ladies I've never met care so much.

P.S DH doing much better today :)

Chulita · 19/11/2010 13:26

Ooh! so glad it arrived, definitely post a photo once it's done :)

CazandBelle · 19/11/2010 16:24

Dear ladies :)

We have been and chosen a pot for Belle's rose. There really was no choice in the end! We were walking around for a little while and then a pot called "Bell Pot" caught my eye and I knew that was definately the one! A Bell Pot for Belle!

The pot was £20 and the compost £5 so we've still vouchers left over to buy more things. We will use them to buy pretty things to decorate the pot/rose as it grows and/or things for Belle's grave to make it pretty for her. I hope this is ok with you all!

My Dad has been down and helped us buy the right compost and size pot and has planted the rose for us (he knows what he's doing and neither of us are that green fingered!)

I look forward to watching it grow and flower :) Much love to you all! x x x

Picture uploaded on my profile!

neenz · 19/11/2010 17:51

Ah that's lovely Caz x

cazzybabs · 19/11/2010 20:08

Nice pot caz - I have read some more of your blog and had a little cry. You are so right about lessons Anabelle is teaching all of us and how many people she has touched with her wings.

I think Poppy has developed excema - I really need to take her to the docs - I'll try and go next week. She keeps scratching her head - it is quite heartbreaking to watch.

weehector · 20/11/2010 02:04

Lo ladies. Still awake but thankfully in a much better condition than this time last night. Luckily, my aunt can prescribe so I had my first 500g flucloxacillin in me within minutes of the pharmacy being open today. Still have a red shiny patch the size of Canada & bf is still agony - just waiting on A waking..it's the sore breast's turn for feeding oh goody!

caz so pleased you're happy with the rose. I just had a quick look at your pics there & my first reaction was to smile at the pic of Belle..'oh look, a big yawn'..she was so perfect, not even that tiny tbh, I think she'd have been a chubster by now. And, as always seems to happen whenever I hit a baby related issue, Belle reminds me to be thankful - in this case to man up & take my mastitis like a serene mummy because you'd take my pain in a minute.

Laters, there's rumbling in the jungle.
