Another rubbish sleep here ..
Staying at a friends with another friend and her dc s. We stayed up til midnight then between my friends ds crying on and off all night, Tilly coughing and spluttering and a brief appearance from dd1 I think I've maybe had an hour altogether..
Now given up and come downstairs as I was seriously putting my friend off ever having kids!
Yes neenz we are ttc 4 now - may as well get the chaos over with quick! Not doing much 'trying' though, between Dh s late work hours and general lack of energy I think we d have to rename ourselves Mary and Joseph if it happened!
Good luck with the potty training- I'm getting nowhere with dd2 who is 2.2 dd1 was trained at about 21 months..

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 11/11/2010 06:48

Morning Smile

Neenz i tried to potty train DD in april when she was 2.5yrs and it just wasn't happening. We started again - bootcamp style when F was only about 5wks old and she has done really well with only one blip of about 10days in the middle of potty training where there were more accidents than successes. This coincided with DH working more than usual so she had less one to one time. In the last week she has started wanting her nappy off first thing in the morning so she could go for a wee and the nappies have been dry from the night. She will be 3 on sunday.

F had his jabs yesterday, but seems to have caught our cold during the evening so a bit snuffly. Went to sleep at 10pm, hasn't slept very soundly but hasn't actually woken up yet so i had to come downstairs and express some milk 12oz!!! (6 from each) and they still feel full

ElusiveMoose · 11/11/2010 09:02

Hector, what is this Kitchenaid of which you speak? Seems odd that there might be a bit of kitchen equipment that I don't already own or want Hmm.

On the subject of new purchases, I became a fully fledged MNer yesterday with the acquisition of my Mooncup. I have to say, it's just the best thing ever. I can't believe I've only just got round to getting one! I may have to join the boring Mooncup evangelist brigade on MN...

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 11/11/2010 09:14

Elusive i got one about 18months ago - absolutely brilliant! I suffer with bad pains and heavy bleeding due to endometriosis and the mooncup means i only get one day of pains and heavy bleeding, the other days i don't even know i'm on.

Speaking of which, i thought i may have come on when F was 4weeks as i had 3weeks of bleeding then abot 5days of no bleeding then 2days of heavy bleeding. But F is 12weeks now and have had nothing since which is nice.

F finally woke at 7.30am! He is now napping next to me on the sofa. Think he is a bit poorly though due to his jabs and then coming down with the cold we have, so best he sleeps through it best he can.

Bloody cold and miserable here today.

weehector · 11/11/2010 10:30

Oh dear. I thought Mooncup was something nice for the kitchen there and almost rushed off to Amazon there..Blush

Thank you for sharing my Kitchenaid excitement. nat it's Almond Cream as I was too chicken to go for something more sexy & out there when we may rethink our kitchen in the next couple of years (and they need to match). elusive you need on of these practical bad boy , retro Americana heavy duty mixer/dough hook/whisk machines. It's Very Practical & Solid but easy to clean. I'm in love with it.

A has taken to puking occasionally after a feed all of a sudden since we stopped using the nipple shields. Thinking that because he used to have to work harder with them, he's gorging himself a bit too quickly because he's getting more faster. Would that make sense? My poor, bastarding nipples too..they're agony again but at least I have the benefit of experience to know/hope it's only temporary. Between that and the piles ( can't find the Anusol anywhere), Im a wreck of burning bits.

Chulita · 11/11/2010 12:02

weehector I did get one in the end in boysenberry - wanted the grape but dh thought it might be too bright (not possible say I) anyhoo, it's gorrrgeous but right up there on the fat-munching scale along with the breadmaker - once you've got it you have to use it!

I've not tried a mooncup yet, I got one before dd but got pg before I could use it and then needed the next size up. I might have a look into it, not sure yet...

gya hope you get a bit more sleep soon, you've had a bit of a bad run recently!

alice hope little F gets over his snuffles soon, no fun when they're little!

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 11/11/2010 12:37

Chulita if you are under 30 and have not had a baby vaginally you only need the smaller size (acording to the box)

weehector · 11/11/2010 12:42

Ooh, chulita my inner weehector wanted boysenberry but anal Weehector won.

Just been for 2nd load of jabs. He's fine bar ongoing tiny, pathetic cries but I need a stiff gin. :(

Chulita · 11/11/2010 12:44

2 years off 30 though with hopefully another baby in the mix and not back on my period yet, doesn't seem worth it!

weehector I love the colour although it is the same as our car Hmm
Hate the jabs, S just had his on Tuesday, round 1 down, 2 to go...

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 11/11/2010 12:46

F had his second ones yesterday, it is horrible

soontobefatnat · 11/11/2010 13:01

Mooncups are the best! Well, not quite as exciting as Kitchenaids... I actually just ordered my 'old lady, saggy bits' sized one this week. Hoping I'm not going to need it for a while tho.

pamplem0usse · 11/11/2010 14:04

OK I'm finally free for five minutes to post... yay!!
I have to say already feeling a bit broody. DH and I had decided it was going to be a 5 year gap but now we're down to three (hopefully) and maybe a bit less. So excited about having a little sibling for S. Think we'll be sticking at 2 though, unless I can squeeze a late baby in :)

I second everyone who recommends mooncups. Silly me threw mine away when I got preggo because of going up a size, but I had a section so it'd probably have worked OK.

And Kitchenaids... got one when we moved house. Best thing ever!

Alice poor F... sorry I've been rubbish about beng in touch recently. So busy. Due to be in your part of the world soonish though so will get back in touch and maybe we can do coffee again :) (Clearly noone else needed those details.... silly me)

And the news from Mooseland is that I'm currently really enjoying breast feeding and the volume of milk I'm producing seems to have finally sorted itself out as I manage to express 100ml every morning no problem. Making me v happy as might actually get to go out occasionally now :)

Chulita when do you think you might start trying for the next LO?! And gya think you'll get there before me. I have a PhD thesis I kinda need to finish!

cazzybabs · 11/11/2010 14:37

dh seems to be talking to me again - no idea sbout Monday!

I have a cold which I think has put my bp high again because as I got out the swimming pool post Poppy's lesson I saw stars. anyway she went underwater and didn't cry.

I have booked her jabs (finally)

and all this talk of new babies am very Envy

neenz · 11/11/2010 15:37

I remember when teh twins got to about this age I thought 'ooh I could have another baby now'. I think it coincided nwith getting more sleep!

Thanks for potty training advice/support. At first I just put them in pants and kept reminding them to use potty/toilet and just said when they had an accident 'oh you should use the potty'. But they just kept having acccidents, we only had a few successes on the first day, none on day 2 or 3! I think they need to feel more comfortable on the potty. So now I am just doing one (Esther) and I am sitting her on the potty every half hour or so and reading with her etc and she is getting much better at sitting on it now so I am more hopeful Smile. She def holds it in cos as soon as she has her nappy on at naptime/nightime she poos, and when she has an accodent it is hours after her last one and there is loads and I can tell she is stil trying to hold it in! I think she will get it now. And Theo prob won't be far behind, fingers crossed.

Daniel slept thru again 10-8 Smile

marzipananimal · 11/11/2010 16:32

wow, what an amazing sleeper Daniel is! J is generally pretty good but last night we tried to go to bed a 9.30ish but didn't get him to sleep until 11.30. I eventually got him to sleep by lying him in his cot and leaning over him dangling my boob into his mouth. Not very comfortable but it only took a few minutes and it worked! (don't want to make a habit of it though - if only he would take a dummy!) I think part of the problem was that he was trying to suck his hand but isn't coordinated enough and his arm kept jerking away making him cry.

I can't believe you lot are broody! I always thought I wanted 2-4 children but now I'm worried that I won't be able to bring myself to try for a second. Oh well, I think I'll change my mind when the first few weeks have faded from my memory :)

ChoccieDoodleyAdventCalender · 11/11/2010 17:22

You are all officially bonkers thinking about another one - although after dd I did say I wanted one straight away - haven't quite got that far after ds though .

Had a traumatic moment, in this wind the door slammed shut behind me as I was trying to stop the puppy from running straight out. Now have no window pane in the door as i smashed it to get back in to ds who was yelling his poor little heart out for a feed. Glazier coming tomorrow and hopefully will be able to fix it back again. Was impressed at the ferocity I had to use to break the window but so be it.

Am jealous of your kitchenaids, I have one and I love it but got it before all the really funky colours came out! Now everything has to co-ordinate with it.....it is baby blue!

Chulita · 11/11/2010 17:35

pample I'm thinking of trying when S is about 10/11 months so May/June next year. DH wants to wait a bit longer so we'll see who wins Grin

I'm longing for the night S sleeps through, he's no where near that yet unfortunately.

With mooncups what happens if you're in a loo that doesn't have a sink in it? logistically I can't quite get my head around it.

This boob is agony, like being right back at the newborn feeding again :( It hurts to latch him and then burns for an hour or so once he's unlatched and loses all the blood supply so goes all white. It permanently looks like I've got a big whitehead in the middle of my nipple but I can't get anything out of it except pain. ARGH!

bellygazing · 11/11/2010 17:36

All those talking of more babies... would love another one but am enjoying E so much at the moment don't want to miss out by concentrating on anything else. Me and DH have said we will talk about it when she's twoish and see how we feel.

After a few days of reverting back to cluster feeding until 11ish, E fell asleep at 9pm the last two nights, slept til 2.30ish then to 6.30ish. It may not quite be up there with neenz's star sleeper, but I am v pleased Smile.

Today is cause for celebration at bellygazing heights - Elodie had her hips scanned and they have much improved. She's been in the harness for 8 weeks and from today will only have to wear it during the night-time - and in 4 weeks we can bin it altogether. Which means lots more naked cuddles. I love the naked cuddles.

marzipan LOL at you boob-dangling - I did that over E when she was on the bed once just to see if she would grab it and then kicked myself as I was then stuck at a weird angle with E suckling away until she let me go. But would not be physically possible in her cot without much contortion.

Chulita · 11/11/2010 17:36

doodley took me a moment to work out who you were :) Well done for smashing that window!

ChoccieDoodleyAdventCalender · 11/11/2010 20:11

Chulita - time for a christmas name change although I may go back as I just seem to antagonise people in this guise Grin

honestly I thought I as fine until inside with baby on boob after calling the glazier & dh etc then I just cracked. Dh bought me flowers though to celebrate 3 months of T today (he has done the typical boy thing and not realised it was actually yesterday NOT today! but its the thought that counts) he also bought me some Lindor chocolate balls because of the window which is generous bearing in mind it is going to cost spondoolio's to mend!
Oh well!

LCRLCR · 11/11/2010 21:45

Hi everyone! Feeling a bit quiet so just checking in - we are still here! I think we'll try for #2 also next summer (we've got some weddings in June & July = nights alone in a hotel!) eeeek exciting!

S is adorable, I am so madly in love with my little girl, it's almost overwhelming at times. Can't wait for Christmas when granny & Grandad come over from Ireland and spend time with us again!

Oh no Kitchenaid here but a Mooncup yes, it's the business.

Bubbabear · 12/11/2010 01:22

Er mooncup? Should I ask or just google?!

Very brave smashing that window Doodley! Just shows what mummies can do when needs must Wink

Well I haven't been up at this hour for quite a while! Aidan has been a poorly boy this week, has his first proper cold. He's had little sniffles before but this is a full on snorting, coughing, going off his feed (which is unheard of!) snotty cold.
He woke from a deep evening 'nap' of 4 hours at 11.30 for his last feed. It took him 50 mins to have 7oz but he drank it 1oz at a time with regular intervals & I was pleased with our achievement that he finished it all & his tummy was finally full. Then just as we were singing our bedtime lullabies, up it all came again all over mummy, himself & mummy's bed! So cue another half hour or so of changing, cuddling & now finally snoozing away in bed. Fingers crossed he goes until his morning feed now, I haven't done a night feed since he was 8 weeks old & really don't want to regress!! Plus mummy needs rest as she now has the lurgy too :( There really should be some rule that once u become a mum ur immune to all bugs! Oh well...

ElusiveMoose · 12/11/2010 09:05

For those unsure, a mooncup is a silicone cup you wear internally during your period instead of using tampons or towels (here). So not something I'd want to use in the kitchen, Hector Grin. Good for the environment (they last for years), plus a lot more comfy and less hassle than the alternatives. Chulita, the answer to your question about changing it in a public loo without a sink... Firstly, unless you have very heavy periods, you don't need to change it that often (I only change first thing in the morning and last thing at night). Also, you don't actually need to wash it every time you change it - you can just give it a wipe with loo roll.

Re Kitchenaids - ah yes, I knew I must want one Envy. No room in the kitchen, though. My latest wish-list gadget is one of those stick blenders. At this time of year I'd love to make more soup, but I can never be arsed with the whole jug blender palaver. Also, I'm told the stick ones are brilliant for baby purees.

Is anyone else having trouble with daytime sleeps? S just doesn't get 'sleepy' (unless he's in the car). He's totally alert and chatty, and then gets increasingly wide-eyed and manic, until he finally starts howling because he's so tired. He used to take a dummy, but now he's started spitting it out; and rocking, singing etc doesn't seem to get him drowsy at all. Yesterday it took me an hour and a half to get him down for a lunchtime sleep, and then he woke up after 20 mins.... I had similar problems with DS1, so maybe it's something I'm doing wrong Confused.

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 12/11/2010 09:47

Hello we all have this grotty cold so don't come too close.

Poor F is really suffering, DD is full of cold, DH is grumpy because he is ill and i feel so rough that even my teeth hurt - and we are going to CentreParcs on monday. I need to make us well again! AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH

Oh yes and my house literally looks like a bomb has hit it. Hibernation with a trashy novel could be the only answer Confused

But on the plus side, it is sunny here Smile

Have a good day ladies

cazzybabs · 12/11/2010 09:51

I feel so ill this morning too :( :( :(
